I came in to get my blonde highlights touched up with some purple accents. I had Janelle (who I understand no longer works there) but it took 5 hours... I'm already blonde, the touch up was minimal, and I understand with the purple it has to be done in two stages but it was literally 5 hours (apt started at 10am and left after 3 pm) and in between colouring she came back to me with different colour nails. I was only washing my hair twice a week with paraben free shampoo, in cold water, as I was told to and the purple was out pretty much after the first wash. And it cost me $200. I am new to this area and didn't know what to expect so I pondered what would be a fair review but I'm quite upset with the experience.

I’ve had my hair cut and styled elsewhere but I will only go to see Shawn at Hairsoda from now on. Not only is he skilled and passionate about his work, he does not rush through any of the services. Many other shops skip services to make up for the decrease in customers due to the pandemic but Hairsoda continues to be a full service hair salon while keeping the place clean and customers safe.

I have been going to Hairsoda for over 3 years now. Despite me moving further and further away, I have no reason to ever consider another stylist because no one has ever styled my hair as good as Shawn has. I first met Shawn when I volunteered to be a model for a cut. Shawn pointed out to the other stylists many features of my head, and problems that might occur if it was cut a certain way. The issues he pointed out (hair sticking out in the back, not falling right on the head, looking bowly, etc) were all things I had encountered and fought with before. He cut my hair in a way that alleviated all of those issues because he intimately understands how each person's head shape needs to be considered with a cut. Shawn also was there for me on my wedding day, styling my hair outside of business hours to make sure it was perfect for photos. Their online booking process is a breeze, so I can always plan ahead to ensure I get an appointment at a time that works with my schedule. Shawn is always on time, never has a client running late into my appointments, and always takes the time to do a perfect job.

Great people here! I had a great time at the grand opening and their service really sets the bar. All the staff are courteous and experienced and really know what they're doing. Awesome hair studio with a photography studio right in the shop! Really a one stop shop.. Great time, definitely recommend!

Horrible!!!! This is the worst haircut I've ever had. I showed a picture of what I wanted and the hair style she gave me looks nothing like I requested... the layers are very choppy and the style is soooo outdated. Plus, she cut it so short I can't even go somewhere else to have it fixed! I just have to wait months for it to grow out!!! Deeply unhappy.

My wife booked an appointment with Janell for our 13 year old daughter as the salon states on their website that cuts for women are $40 and they offer 25% discount for kids 16 years and under. I will admit her haircut looks good and she had a good experience with the sytlist. The low review is due to the cash out process. No one told my wife that my daughter's cut would be charged full adult price plus a surcharge because her hair is apparently thick. So, the anticipated $30 cut ($40 minus anticipated kids 25% discount). turned out to be a $54 cut before tip. The wife probably would've okayed everything IF she was informed during the process of the surcharges but no one bothered to provide any information. Anyway, she came home, double checked the website and called the salon to complain about their seemingly unethical pricing. Was transferred to the obtuse owner who kept defending her pricing policy instead of trying to understand that there might have been a communication breakdown or fault in their policies in that there is no transparency. We were offered a coupon but we won't be going back. There are probably other salons in the area with good stylists that aren't owner operated with the hubris of this salon. Edit: changing my 2 star review to 4 stars due to owner Shawn reaching out to us on my original negative review regarding my wife's experience at the salon for our daughter's haircut. Shawn contacted us right away and dealt with this in a very kind and professional manner which was admirable. Shawn was not at fault originally but dealt with this situation as any caring business owner would.

Leanne did an amazing job with my hair! I am not a very artsy person, I don't have a good sense of color, decoration, etc. I like arcteryx clothing, and I am in a profession that wears pajamas to work. With just the idea of trying to enhance my already natural color (and me not bringing ANY helpful pictures); Leanne did absolutely gorgeous highlights for me. Thanks again for using your skill and experience to give a spectacular look! Definitely returning.

After booking an appointment and confirming before hand, when I got there I was told someone else had my appointment time and they were going to cut her hair instead as she was a regular. I dread getting my hair cut because I have curly hair. I saw the good reviews and went to hair soda about a month ago. I liked the salon, clean and good vibes. I had my haircut with Ruth because online it said she was good with curly hair. I went to a pixie cut and when I washed it the next day I knew it wasn't right. But I left for a trip a few days after and I couldn't do much to fix it. The entire trip I've been fighting my hair to keep me from having a mohawk (not a cool one). Ruth was super nice but I'm not happy with my hair at all.

Finding a new salon can be extremely stressful, but when I found Ruth @ Hair Soda last year, my prayers had been answered. She is always able to achieve exactly what I request when it comes to colour and my hair cuts have been great. Covid protocols are followed, salon is very clean, best of all, my appointments are always on time.

I have been going to hairsoda for a little over a year now, I have had the pleasure of having my hair cut/styled by a few of the fantastic crew working there. The staff is excellent, the service in impeccable and always received in a friendly manner. They have product for sale that are exclusive to their salon; available for sale as-well. They have the experience and training (local and overseas) to back up their strong hair game. The staff is always open and ready for a new challenge in styling. If you live on the shore definitely check them out, and if you live anywhere else, I strongly recommend crossing the bridge and experiencing this fantastic hair salon. You will not be disappointed. The Best haircut I've ever had, and the best decision I ever made in choice of salon too! First of all, the stylists were all incredibly polite and attentive, and then Jenelle was incredible! She took my incredibly long hair and transformed it into an absolute work of art. I couldn't stop smiling and squealing. I showed her a picture I took online of what I had in mind for a hair style, and she expertly gave me her honest opinions and then cut it perfectly. If I could give it zero stars I would. Their prices are SHAMELESS but more importantly, the service is terrible. After readings so many greats reviews, I really thought I made an educated decision and now I’m left with a halo of broken hair around my face which was fried off and was a result of a second visit to the salon which was supposed to fix a horrible job as a result of my first. When I made an initial consultation with Sean, he really seemed that he understood the intention was to go platinum and confirmed he’s able to get the job done. FIVE hours later, I walked out with $300 less( for only a half head highlights) and 10 shades darker due to a green, blue, grey toner which he attempted to explain was normal( as if a toner had never been applied to my hair during every previous colour job). Because my hair was so dark, I couldn’t tell that the highlights didn’t actually start from my roots but instead an inch below. This was only revealed after a week of vigorous washing at which point it became clear that nothing was actually done to my hair despite the hundreds of foils he put into it. The highlights were so microscopic that a trained eye could not decipher that anything had been done to my hair in months. When I went back for my second appointment, he only touched up a third of the hair he had previously coloured and again selected three hairs per foil after a second lengthy explanation that I wanted to be predominantly blonde. When I asked him to actually fix the job he had done, instead of just a fraction of it he made excuses for why he cannot. In retrospect I’m glad he left the rest do the hair untouched because he fried off the hair that he “fixed up”. please stay away from this place if you cherish your hair. What a HORRIBLE experience.

Hairsoda is a smaller and more personal salon... which I like. Fun decor. Super clean. Feels somewhat more spa like ... quiet and calm. The stylist for my hair is professional and fun to talk with. She always enquires whether I enjoyed my previous hairstyle .... would I change anything this time? She listens to my ideas and wishes, and often checks that I like the cut as she is styling it. I like the cut more since I feel a part of the process and always feel that I received the cut I had in mind. I love the salon's text appointments and text reminders of my appointments. Hairsoda is an outstanding salon.
