The hairdresser I had was nice enough but he was pretty judgemental and when I asked for them to curl my hair they put no heat protection on my hair which was a little odd. He also didn't wear his face mask properly (not covering his nose, just barely over his mouth)

I never write reviews but here goes my first one: I came in for a trim without an appointment. Receptionist quoted me $37 plus tax. I thought ok, it's just a trim- that's not bad. As I was getting my hair washed, the stylist suggested a mask for $20 as my hair was slightly damaged. I agreed to get it. Then I got my trim done and I was asked if I wanted a blow dry with a round brush or curled? I said I just need a blow dry...BIG mistake- they actually charge you for that. At the end I paid $96 with taxes...I was shocked but I was in a hurry (I spent 1.5 hours!) so I paid the $96 plus tip. I looked at the receipt- the mask was actually $30 NOT $20 and the haircut+style $54...Then of course I noticed on the receipt "no refunds or exchanges". Yes, I am happy with my trim but I will not come back- I hate when salons rip me off

I came in with an aweful "ombre" that I got done from some other salon where it looked like a bad patchy bleach job. I had Brianna as my hair stylist and she worked wonders on my hair. I would have given 5 stars, except this place has a POS system that suggests tips on the tax as well as the service amount. For example, if your service is $45, the credit card terminal suggests 20% = $10.17 (which is 20% of $50.85, not $45) Other than this common error, Jackie did a wash and curl on my very long and thick hair in under an hour and it looks beautiful! Thank you.

My hair was done very nicely.....Sandra did a great job but she took a lot of my time. At first she was late by 40 minutes so I had to wait and then she took 3 or more clients in between my time , so I had to stay there from 10 am to 8 pm. Next time if i go there I would expect their time management better, and the service is over priced....for my hair I ended up paying 600 bucks and tax. I loved the service of Elen who did the best pedicure and waxing.

Went in for a trim while 9 months pregnant. I pointed just below my collar bone and was very VERY clear that i did not want it any shorter than that. I had a lob that had just gotten a little long. Stylist starts cutting and before i could notice she had given me a tiny bob above my chin. I sat there just crying. She asked what was wrong. Really? Manager ended up coming out trying to make it better. But damage was done. What do they do for me? A 25% discount for when I come back. Why would I ever go back? I really wish I had walked out without paying. That's not the service I went in for. I'm sorry but if you can't honor a clients wishes or choose to not follow basic instructions, you should find a new line of work...

I came for a layered hair cut and style. My hair is usually very long without layers. I asked for shorter front layers and highly layered throughout to give more volume and texture. When she said she finished, my hair did not look any different. I asked for more layers pointing to pictures. She said it was the way it was styled that made it look as though it was layered. I came out, with straight, volumeless and unstyled hair that I could do a much better job at home. Sorry but it was a huge waste of money and I will never come back.

Went in for a simple trim and layering. I asked for subtle, whispy bangs and came out with full-on 80's bangs that are way too short, cut horribly jagged and uneven. It's awful. I asked to speak with a manager when they made me pay for this and there was no manager today. They said they could give me a gift card to come back another time... for what??? Even another hairdresser there said these are beyond fixing and I have to grow them out, and that he could fix them when they do, in a few weeks. Now I get to wear a headband for a month, and thanks for refusing to refund me.

I want to start off by saying be aware of this salon. There was a review written last week, that seems to now be removed (please view the review I am speaking about under the Tonic page that has not yet been deleted). The review was regarding a woman’s horrifying experience regarding her Great Lengths hair extensions, I too had the same awful experience. Here is some background on mine... Prior to making the decision to have bonded hair extensions installed I did my due diligence to learn about the different options. It was recommended by majourity to go with a brand called Great Lengths for bonded hair extensions, as this specific company only allows “certified” hair stylist to purchase their hair, ensuring both quality of the hair and knowledge of the installation process by the certified stylists. After reaching out to a few salons to get some information, I came across Curio hair salon. I made an appointment and a few days later met with a gentleman named Hamid. Hamid quickly did a consult on my hair, gave me a price and instructed that I leave a $500.00 to order the hair. A week later I met with Hamid to have the hair installed. At about 9:00pm the salon was closing and Hamid had instructed me that we still had approximately an hour and a half to go so he would ask that I pay now so the receptionist could balance her til and close for the evening. To my surprise the price that the receptionist was requesting was nearly double than what I was told originally. Reminding her I paid a deposit already, the receptionist went to speak to Hamid. He then told me that he would be charging me extra because he cut the extensions. I told him I would not be paying for a decision he made and did not inform me about. After leaving me humiliated, in front of the staff and leaving me feeling “cheap” I told Hamid that I would not be paying the additional $700.00 (In addition to the original $1,300.00) and would leave with what was installed as is. He said he would do it this time but never again. He finished and sent me on my way. The next day I had realized that the hair extensions were not correctly blended and that I had already lost two extensions overnight. I called Hamid directly and he instructed me to come back and he would correct the cut. When discussing the loss of extensions with him he said that my hair was naturally oily and a couple falling out was normal, even this soon. I trusted his words and left the salon. After one week I had lost approx 8 extensions and noticed that after 1 week the hair felt rough and looked awful. As I continued to lose hair I tried contacting the salon several times with promises to return my calls and nothing. I then went to another Salon (referred to me) and got a consult. The hairstylist explained to me how the bonds were not installed properly, that they were attached to such small pieces of hair that it was actually damaging my own, furthermore, that the hair that was installed was not even Great Lengths. I had luckily brought in a few strands that were “extras” that Hamid had sent me home with and showed her to compare. She then showed me how all Great Length hair is packaged and how the individual strands looked (much different than what I had received from Hamid). She also informed me that to allow clients to leave with Great Length hair extensions is against Great Lengths policies (I will be contacting them to inform them of what occurred). In conclusion, I was left paying $1,300.00 for my hair to be damaged, no extensions left, "fake hair" and having to pay to get it redone. I now go 6 months with the same extensions (not losing more than 2 extensions in this 6 month time frame). This salon did not only take my money, lie to me about the type of hair, but completely disregarded their responsibility to provide quality customer service. The staff are misleading, unqualified, and truly unprofessional. The owners should be ashamed of the type of work that occurs in their salons. I will NEVER speak a good word about this salon or any that are affiliated.

I have never posted a review online, however i had to this time. Went as a walkin for a haircut, before a party. There was only a level 1 available. Asked her whether she new how to do layers as that was all i wanted along with some bangs. She said she was able to do that. Washing hair was fine. However not satisfied with the haircut service. She did not know how to cut layers. I had to specifically tell her one by one which pieces to cut. It Was so unbelievable. Hair was not evenly cut. I asked her to cut layers shorter so there would be volume. She did not listen to what i wanted. I even showed a few pictures of wat i wanted. Does not look anything close to that. Even though i said i want volume, she flat ironed it in a way that there was no volume at roots. Layers are choppy and not blended properly. I just called the salon to talk to the manager. The receptionist put me on hold and then came back saying they will call me back later. Seriously? I better get a call back. Not happy at all.

Went to get a soft balayage. My hair was completely botched! The contrast between my light brown hair and the lighter colours was ridiculous! (Basically looked like the girls with black roots and bleach blonde hair it was that bad). I told him I wanted a natural looking colour and he completely bleached my hair. It looked white!!!! When I came in the next day I got Hamid and when I tried to explain what I wanted he told me to be quiet and let him speak.... Told me that what I want is wrong and not natural. End of story I will NEVER NEVER come back here again and waste 6 hours and $200 dollars.

DO NOT GET WAXED HERE First time I went, great waxing esthetician, but the stylist was cold, didn't listen and did nothing close to what I asked for. Second time a different waxing esthetician was very inexperienced, she injuried me by over waxing the same spot. She left behind a lot of hair and left me with a week long very painful injury in a very sensitive area. I've been getting waxed for 6 years and never suffered an injury. If you want good hair removal, go to Sugarmoon or Ten Spot.

Asked for light brown lowlights but the stylist said that she cannot do “highlights” which do not start from the root, so she did a balayage. Now, light brown highlights do not necessarily require bleach but she bleached my hair without telling me. End results= a streaky head of dirty blonde weak and damaged hair!! Don’t waste your money for inexperienced amateurs. The inspiration picture and results is ridiculous

I got my hair cut for the first time at Curio several weeks ago and it was the best hair cut I have received in a long time. I also had my hair dried and the staff (Brianna) curled/put waves in my hair, which I loved so much. Other salons just quickly dry my hair. The cost for the cut was pricey but totally worth it. Will go back again and recommend!

I have been getting my haircut with Hamid for years. I followed him from Tonyc to this new salon. I trust him with my hair wholeheartedly. The only thing I don't like is not getting undivided attention (for the price one pays at the salon) especially on a busy day. Apart from that - LOVE HIM and his great hand for cutting thick hair like mine and making it look stunning every time!

I have tried out several high-end salons and this salon was hands-down the best one I've ever come across. I came in for a colour correction since a previous hairstylist at a different salon literally placed handfuls of bleach on my dark brown hair. She left me with a brassy orange band all around my head when I asked for a balayage. I booked my appointment with Hamid and I'm not kidding when I say he is literally the best. My hair was so damaged from what the previous hairstylist had done but I still wanted a proper balayage. Hamid really listens to what you want and will thoroughly think through the process to achieve the look you're aiming for. I have a lot of hair too, and I was very happy with how patient he was to blend everything. He also ensures to take precautions and protect your hair so it doesn't break off. I received a hair cut from him as well, and he is magic with scissors. You can tell he's very passionate about what he does and ensures his clients leave feeling happy and confident. In addition to this, the atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming. I am very grateful I came across this salon because now I've found a hairstylist I trust and I will never make the mistake of letting someone else touch my hair. The salon is a little bit more on the expensive side but I'd much rather spend the money once and get my hair done right, than spend money going from different salons trying to fix it.

She asked what I was thinking of doing and if I had a photo of my vision. As a male i find it difficult to find a hair salon that i feel comfortable and satisfied with. It is hard to find a new hairdresser when coming from someone you have been used to. I found Curio to be great, the people that work at this location are friendly and overall have great attitudes and i was very satisfied with the overall customer service and my interactions. I have gone multiple times to cut my hair with ricky, he was very helpful, had great recommendations and he was always very pleasant. BUT, i no longer cut my hair here. this because of management, every time i walk into this place i feel the tension that the manager creates. i have never seen the man smile. and it is very uncomfortable how he consistently stares at my hair as i walk out, not saying a work to me. just looking, and i understand he is checking the work that was done to my hair. but dont stare at me and not say anyhthing, even as i walk in he looks i say hello and no answer. I expect much more out of a manager, ive had better customer service experiences with the grumpiest walmart employees than with this man. 5 hair cuts, the man has never said anything to me. and never smiled. and not one employee looks happy when he is around.

I was shopping around the mall and was looking through some hair products to buy before my vacation. Then one of the receptionist came up to me approached me with a such positive attitude. I was planning to get my air done anyways so she handed me over to one of their hair stylists. She consulted with my hair and took care of me the whole way through. The end results were amazing. I am so happy, the price was decent but definitely worth it. She even took pictures of my hair after and posted on their instagram @curiosherway. I highly recommend this place!

If you are still rocking your 80s hair cut then this is the place for you. I was absolutely mortified when I left. I've never had a hair cut where someone just brushed my hair back, trimmed it in all in one go and then didn't check their work. The result: an uneven mess, left was longer than the right, front was longer than the back too. How is this even possible?

BEWARE: I needed my highlights done. I told the girl that I wanted just the roots touched up.Once my highlights were done she sent me off to another girl to wash my hair. So after the shampoo and toner I noticed that my hair looked very dark. She mention that "Oh it's because the toner was left on for too long" and once my hair was dry it would be lighter. She asked me if I wanted a cut I said I just want a trim. Well she asked me to stand up and started cutting away. Not only is my hair GREY, I now have 2 inches off my hair. Very unhappy!! Will never EVER go there again. Stay AWAY!!!

Great salon- Fantastic stylists but the manager makes the environment toxic. He paces the floor like a caged lion- he is condescending to the new staff. He never smiles or acknowleges regular customers. My teenager had her hair coloured and had a deep hair treatment done. The receptionist forgot to charge her for this. I was in the salon several weeks later on a Friday- there was no mention of the mischarge. The receptionist did not mention this to me when they confirmed my appt or my daughter's appt. (they were 3 confirmation calls) We were scheduled different days. When my daugther was done her colour they tacked on the additional missed charge. I have been going to Curio for over an year and have been a loyal customer. I have given them a lot of business. But when you sneak in a charge because "You" made the mistake that is not appropriate. Please disclose your error . Don't throw it onto my child's bill and not expect me not to notice. I would have been more than happy to settle the bill but when you are not forth coming; it makes one wonder what else is done in this manner. It is difficult to book with my stylist - the receptionist will go out of her way to schedule me with someone else. The salon has potential to be an amazing place but SO unfortunate that the face of the salon is a "SOUR PUSS" manager.

I decided to try this salon on a whim one day. I was introduced to Jasmine. She is phenomenal at what she does! When I started there my hair was fried and it now feels healthy to the touch while still being light blonde. Both aestheticians are fantastic as well and I would recommend their facials and waxing services. I convinced my fiance to see Ricky instead of a chain shop barber and he has been seeing him every 3 weeks ever since. Even my 8 year old son with special needs comes to see Ricky for his haircuts. He used to dread having it cut until we met Ricky. He now asks for a haircut! Ricky is unbelievably patient and attentive with kids and I am so happy I can finally see my son smile and laugh during a haircut. Thank you to everyone at Curio for all that you do.

Your hairstylist, Mariana is hands down the best! I've been to many hairstylists and none have been able to accomplish what I want or what would compliment me. She was on point with the hair dye, cut, shampoo, conditioner, serums and treatments. Mariana did her very best to book me in right away. When I finally went in, she was extremely professional, friendly and honest with her recommendations and not to mention talented. Prior to seeing her my hair was dried out and looked so choppy. I left my appointment with her feeling like a million bucks. As you can see from the pic, the transformation was phenomenal. I went from an orangey choppy cut and colour to a beautifully done red violet and awesome haircut. Mariana's passion for not only doing hair but also genuinely helping others is definitely one of a kind. You're team is extremely lucky to have her! My entire family goes to her now... myself, my mom, and both my daughters. We absolutely love her!

Never again!Brought my five year old son for a haircut. It took forever to do nothing. She was very nervous because my FIVE YEAR OLD son was moving too much. I was very close not to pay for the horrible service that she did ,but I did. And I or anybody that I know will never go to that place. All the other girls were nice..At first I was thinking that she just doesn't have patience and experience for little kids,but actually she did a pretty bad job. Now I have to bring my son somewhere else to get the proper haircut. Just wasted my $23 ,have my son crying and now I have to deal with him being stressed every time because of this experience. I am very disappointed Not up to Sherway standards at all. Receipt :19038

I had a hair color and cut & style. I bought big bottles of loreal shampoo too. Spent almost $300. I was very happy for good work or my hair dresser. But when I get home, I found someone steal a big pack of loose chage ( looney & toonies from my pocket of my jacket. I am very upset and angry. That is why I never hang my jacket in closet of any shops or anywhere else. Here I just took chance and it was coming in my mind that I should empty my pockets. But now I can't do anything or blame anyone.

Went to see Agnes and she is just amazing, takes her time and is so professional. She has gotten my hair so healthy. I drive from Barrie to come see her. Also Nosh did an amazing job in washing my hair and is so friendly and professional! Highly recommend this place!

Horrible experience at the Sherway Curio Hair Salon. First and last time there. I asked the hairdresser Kitana Zomaya to trim the ends slightly. Instead she cut layers into my hair at the front and sides. When I got home I realized she took off at least 6 inches in sections and it is really uneven. The left side is longer. Also, she messed up the color. My roots are a different colour from the rest of my hair. What a disaster! Not satisfied and I do not recommend at all.
