I started going to Violet Lounge a year ago when I moved to Nanaimo because they had online booking. I continued going because of the atmosphere, the location, and most of all because of my stylist Ocea. Not only is she an absolute delight, she knows how to cut my terribly thin, fine hair. 10/10 recommend Ocea and Violet Lounge.

Amazing tech and service! Autumn was a friendly voice on the phone who took her time to find the right appointment for me. (Text and email reminders were great). Walking in, the space is very open and warm, lots of natural light and by design is very pandemic conscious. Very clean spaced apart stations and dividers where necessary, make you feel safe. Mary is an amazing person who is knowledgeable in her craft. Even though my appointment usually takes a few hours, they flew by with fun conversation and laughter. Mary is very efficient yet very detailed, no quality was sacrificed here. She understood what I wanted right away and have surpassed my expectations. If you are new in town, it is hard to trust a new stylist, but I feel like I've done the recon for you all and it is a great place with people you can trust! Can't wait for my next appointment!

Violet Hair Lounge is literally the best hair salon in Nanaimo! Summer did my hair and I am so pleased with the results! I got baby lights / balayage and a trim. I am extremely picky with how my hair is done, and am usually never satisfied with the results, but with Summers work I was pleasantly surprised! She was so personable and we talked the whole time which is also a rarity for me while getting my hair done. Many people have asked me where I got my hair done and I have been recommending they go here and ask if Summer can do it for them. So so pleased, thank you so much for your patience and kindness Summer, I really appreciate it! The rest of the staff were also really great, the whole vibe is overall wonderful.

I stumbled into VHL after finding out my regular barber wasnt available , I was unsure if they would even accept me without an appointment. I was greeted with the biggest smile and kindest of welcomes by a lady named Mary. She said they would accept me if they had any open slots ( which they did not) I was in panic mode because I had an important event the next morning in Vancouver and wouldn't have time to get a trim anywhere else. The lovely Mary scanned the computer looking for an opening and finally decided she would slip me in (even though she had a client coming in at any moment) and proceeded to sit me down wash my hair and gave me one of the best cuts I have ever received . Most other places would have turned me away in a heartbeat but thanks to kind professionals like Mary, my experience at this salon was lovely and I would highly recommend this business not just because of the pleasant atmosphere but the dedication and willingness of their staff. Thank you Mary and Violet Hair Lounge, best haircut ever.????????????

I recently got my hair done at this salon by Brittany and she was absolutely phenomenal. I had just met her yet she treated me as though we had known each other for years. She was very attentive, patient and understanding of me being particular with my hair. She wanted to make sure that I absolutely loved it and was happy with it more than anything else. The owner was also very nice and accommodating. Plus - BONUS - I got 20% off since it was my first time! Was a nice surprise :). Highly recommend the salon and highly recommend Brittany!

I absolutely dread going to hair dressers cause I'm always afraid to speak up and tell them how I want my hair, I usually let them do whatever they think is best. I saw Sarah several months back and I just keep thinking of how much I want to go back to get my hair done again! She was so great and she could totally read me and visualize how I wanted my hair to look! It was the best experience I ever had! Summer was friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted, it turned out so much better than I could have hoped for. My hair is stubborn and has not had a history of lifting well, but Summer took the time to go above and beyond to get it to the tone and cut that I wanted. I previously had my hair dyed professionally at an outrageous cost by a salon in North Vancouver and it definitely was not what I was hoping for. AFTER consulting with Tammy and having her suggest how I fix my brass and orange tone stripy highlights I was overly excited how it turned out. She is incredibly talented and I would recommend her to anyone!! Not only is her aim to have you love your hair she is a perfectionist and wants to love it as much for herself! I have been to a few stylists here and there is always so much attention to detail. I get compliments on my colour and cut all the time and always feel trust in the stylists here. Won't go anywhere else! Love the variety of modern products they have too. Some great little gift ideas especially at this time of year. This salon is amazing, highly recommend!

Alexandra is the BEST! Somehow she manages to cut your hair so that it looks amazing, polished and stylish when you leave the salon AND you are able to recreate that style day-to-day. For once I don't need to fight with my hair to get it to look salon perfect! I went to Alex for a long pixie cut and it was even better than I imagined. She made my hair have volume and it was so easy to style at home and have it look just as good. She cut my hair again today and I love it. I told her to be creative and do whatever would look good and I'm happy I left the style up to her . Definitely book with Alexandra :D

The stylist I saw didn’t know how to texturize and thin the ends of my thick hair into a straight across cut so it didn’t look blunt and bulky on the ends. I’ve had this done well by many stylists in my day, so I would say she was lacking skills even though I asked to see a “master stylist.” I’m not happy with my cut. UPDATE: I work long hours during the week, and when I asked for another stylist or the owner to come do a corrective cut on the weekend, they refused saying I could only get it corrected by Mary, the one who cut it in the first place, or come in on a weekday. I think the owner should have stepped up.
