I have been going to Accents for years, as I adore my stylist. Any stylist that has worked on my hair has been professional and they have even used special coloring for me as I have an allergy to most. I have watched many changes there as the owner has invested alot of time and money in improving the look and atmospere of the salon. I think the owner and staff are alot of fun and give the salon the pleasant feeling in which it has. I am sad i can only give it a 5 star rating because to me it should be a 10.

Unless you have the simplest of needs, avoid this one. I spent nearly $900 here and had to spend another $400 at a different salon to correct what they left me with. Underneath the top layer of my hair it was insanely blotchy with random orange throughout it. Highly unimpressed.

I personally love this salon no matter who you go to for a cut, color or style. I am from Port Alberni and I drive to Nanaimo to get my hair done at least every 3 months to get a cut and color I can honestly say I would never trust anyone with my as I call it horse hair (super thick and long). My stepdaughter is hyper active (ADHD) and can't sit in a chair for to long without needing a break so it was amazing of them being able to take the time she needs to make sure we are pleased with her hair insted of rushing her, she even got a cool kid friendly color gel in her hair which made her feel extra special They also gave my son his very first haircut and even work with me to keep a small locket of hair for his baby book. Thank you so much accents and there team for making my family feel like we are apart of your hair styling family.

I am completely appalled that I just read 40 reviews, ALL FROM THE LAST WEEK, almost all of them mentioning how the owner was being attacked by bad reviews at the fault of an ex employee getting all her friends to write bad reviews. First of all, if you read all the one star reviews, each one of them has a PERSONAL EXPERIENCE attached. That means that all these people are completely disregarding the experience of others, and being completely biased. Second, this tells you something. This tells you that the owner has been gossiping with ALOT of people. Otherwise how would they know that a) the owner believes that all the bad reviews were made because of an ex employee of hers asking people to write them, and b) why would they all happen in the EXACT SAME TIME FRAME!!!? Smells fishy to me. Do your homework when you are thinking about trusting a salon with your hair people. When something looks and smells fishy, it's probably fishy. I went to accents for three years. I got hot water ONE time. My head was BURNT ALL OVER after one appointment (the photos are posted on the accents Facebook page reviews) ** OH WAIT! No they aren't because she deleted all the Facebook reviews... Hmmm... Wonder why... *** The owner was always gossiping, even about other employees that weren't there. She is not truthful about the products being used. She threatens to send lawyers your way when you make bad reviews. It is actually extremely petty to do business this way. Own your mistakes instead of attacking people for sharing their stories. ***NO ONE ASKED ME TO WRITE THIS REVIEW! This is my personal experience and opinion***

I can see now why she is an “ex” employee as that is beyond childish and I wouldn’t want her representing my business! I have been getting my hair done at accents for over 20years and I have NEVER left there not being happy! They also have been cutting my sons hair since he was a year old and they have been amazing with him! They are all very professional and make your experience simply amazing! The one star ratings are a result of an employee who left willingly and then decided to have everyone they know comment negatively. The ladies are nothing short of professionally trained and treat their clients with respect, almost as though they are family. Unless you are in the hair industry or case the joint ahead of time and do some incredible research, there's no way to know if the products being used are cheap or not. If your hair isn't falling out, or causing some kind of chemical burn, they've done their job as trained professionals. An owner of any establishment has the absolute right to seek legal counsel in the event of slander and defamation of character, regardless of the use of internet. The deragotory and false claims made are not without consequences as the internet only provides so many hiding places. One should always take care and be mindful of their comments and conversation in any public forum, as is this such environment. Unless they are willing to seek their own legal counsel for loss of wages and income from the business owner for their irresponsible comments and actions. My experience has always been as expected, if not exceeding expectations. Clients and future clients should be mindful that your hair is not part of a magic bag. Your hair stylist, regardless of the one you choose, can only do so much with what they are given. Your texture, current colour and other factors will effect the results of your intentions and each of the stylists at Accents are professionally trained and will advise you of the best choices that will maintain the health of your hair. Should you choose not to listen to that advice, my position is that you get what you asked for. My suggestion is to not be dissuaded by the comments of several people who are trolling along in life, but to speak with Michelle or any of the other stylists in the salon and allow them to address any of the concerns you may have in person and make your decision as a responsible, reasonable adult.

It’s such a shame to see the false negative reviews on Michelle and Accents Salon here on Google.. I’m not sure why anyone would slander Michelle and her business as those reviews and claims are completely disrespect of not only Michelle but the rest of the staff. They are a joke as are the people that have written them. I have had my hair cut by Michelle for over 20 years. Only on a couple of occasions has anyone else done so over that time. She does a great job as do the rest of the staff. I enjoy everyone of the hairdressers in the salon and have never once seen a lack of professionalism in her studio by any of the staff nor Michelle herself. I’m treated by each and everyone of them as family. Don’t get caught up by what you’re reading in the slanderous negative reviews. They are completely false. I hope it comes back to haunt the writers of them. They should feel ashamed of themselves! See for yourself - book an appointment at Accents. You won’t be disappointed!

Love this place. I have had my hair done by both Raelene and Michelle over the past 6 years and was thrilled with them both. They both discussed my lifestyle, how much time I spent styling my hair and what I was hoping for. Then gave me a style that is amazing; modern while being age appropriate. My hair has never looked as good as it does since I started going here. I have taken my niece and very happy with her cut, and that's tough to make a 14 year old happy. The owner and staff make me feel like the most important customer when I arrive and I never feel rushed, the shop is clean and fun and the stylists, while being highly trained, are down to earth and chat with everyone. The whole experience is fun. I have recommended them to several friends, all of whom have been very happy with the results. Additionally I have seen the owner, Michelle, with some of her special needs clients of all ages and she is amazing with them. My usual stylist is off on mat leave and really, it doesn't matter who I get next month for my next appointment since all the stylists there are very good. Every client I see leave this salon is thrilled with their new 'do'. Highly recommended.

Shocked at the 5 star ratings on here! Overpriced, immature and zero professionalism.! Never have I met a bunch of trashier girls in my life with no respect for themselves or the clients. The owner is 2 stations away and allows her staff to talk crude and rude. Then when you pay for your overcharged service, they are waiting to see what kind of tip they get and eye roll when it it's suffice enough. Never again! Avoid!

Even tho they squeezed me in as the girl cancelled that was suppose to do my hair. I was tossed from chair to chair. My hair did not turn out anything like I asked for. Keely attempted to fix my hair couple days later and now my hair is super dark. Again nothing like the picture I gave them. A lot of rude comments around the salon. And even rude comments to me about how long my hair was. Wasn't a good first salon experience for me and not pleased with the outcome.
