I have been going to Sterling for all of my hair needs for years. She always does an amazing job with both the colour and the cut and I have never walked away disappointed. I always bring pictures of what I want, and Sterling will work with me to make tweaks in order to make sure that the colour/cut will look the best with my skin tone and face shape. I can't recommend her enough for colour - she gets it right every time, and is not afraid to mix colours to get the perfect shade!! Whether I just want a nicely toned chocolate brown all over or pink highlights for spring, she can pull it off. In terms of cuts, I trust her completely to take care of my hair and give me a flattering shape. Even though I have moved to Toronto, I still come to Newmarket every few weeks to see Sterling. I can't imagine anyone else working on my hair! I highly recommend Mauricio's and Sterling.

I had Mackenzie cut my hair into the style I wanted. She did an amazing job and she always asked questions to make sure that I was always happy with what she had just done. I recently had tape in extensions put in while also adding a balayage to my already platinum hair. Mimi did an amazing job!! Sterling has been my hair dresser for the almost 5 years I have gone to Maurizio’s, and I am telling you there is no one better. She specializes in blonde but this woman has made me brown, purple, blonde, given highlights and full head dyes and I will literally go no where else. I was a new client and received a cut that was not what I asked for. I requested that the length of my hair be maintained and that it be thinned. At least three inches were cut off and it was thinned too much. They are way too aggressive with people's hair that they don't know. And they didn't ask if what they were doing was ok. He is not only incredible at his craft but a straight up gentleman. He is one of the most driven, ambitious, kind humans I have ever met. I lost my 7 years grown healthy hair yesterday in Maurizio's Hair Studio. Josaphine, professional hair dresser, fried all my hair with bleach. I made an appointment a week ago to go to get lighter hair. I started to dye my hair around June this year. My original Hair Stylist in Richmond Hill, who is gone to back home suggested to go through the slow process to get lighter hair. I discussed this with Josaphine and she appreciated my understanding and we agreed to the process of lighter hair in several steps. She started bleaching my hair and put them in foils around 10:10 am and then washed them out around 1:30 pm. I noticed that she never checked my hair during this time which was strange to me. When she started drying my hair it was falling off …. I touched my hair and OMG it was a NIGHTMARE … my hair was broken off in my hand and turning to powder. I start asking questions and she tried to fool me that it is normal to have some broken hairs .. but it was not some, I lost my hair!! I asked for Manager, Maurizio and he right away offered me no charge for HAIR COLOR and FREE HOME TREATMENT... Seriously - money was not the issue, I LOST MY HAIR... They ask me to leave the store with wet hair in the cold, trying to rush me out so other new customers would not see me, but I was shocked, crying and could not move from the chair.... They called the POLICE..... What a shame!!! My scalp is burning from all the chemicals, I lost my hair and the rest of what is left is dry hair on my head that looks like dry grasses. I cried all night and I am emotionally distraught… Are there any protection laws to benefit people like me? Is this kind of hair dresser able to carry their licence and keep harming others?

Couldn’t wait to get home to write this review. It was my first time there and the second I walked through the door I was greeted and offered a refreshment. I was a bit early and unfortunately I interrupted a class the staff was just finishing. This goes to show they are on top of new trends and always improving. I have curly hair and I got a haircut from Mimi. Once she was done she started styling my hair into more curls without asking me. Now that i think about it she probably did it to cover up the mess. Once i came home showered and flat ironed my hair, i saw the mess that was covered under the curls. I will attach the pictures as they are very self explanatory. I went back and got my money refunded as i did not trust them to fix it for me! I got my haircut money back but not my $15 tip.

Easy to book online and everyone was nice. Jeff was my stylist and he gave me a fantastic cut. I waited a couple of weeks to post a review because it's always different maintaining the cut at home but he really did cut it in such a way that it's easy for me to style in the morning and still looks great. The stylist, Jeff is very knowledgeable, explained everything patiently and gave great advice on after care. I have very fine long hair that would look greasy and flat by the end of the day and now my hair has so much volume and it’s so much easier to style! It took me some time to decide on the perm and I wish I had done it sooner. The studio itself has a very nice atmosphere, everyone is very friendly and makes you feel at home and comfortable. It would've been an excellent experience except for the fact that the stylist seemed completely confident in achieving the picture I used as a reference. No one I talked to who has received or done colouring agreed that what I got and paid for was a balayage. It is a very nice highlighting job but certainly not a balayage. It is evident how perfectly striped my hair is as seen in picture. Very sad about it. Pinterest photo was reference. Very different styles. UPDATE I was kindly invited back to the salon to have my hair redone. Mimi did an outstanding job and she is very talented. The outcome was still not want I originally was going for and having red in my hair beforehand made it seemingly difficult to color over but the color is pretty so I appreciate the effort made . Amazing customer service overall.

My first time going to Maurizio Hair Studio was a disappointment. I booked with Mimi after seeing many reviews of praise, but was not impressed with my take away. I'm a natural brunette and had existing blond and caramel tones of balyage. My request was to lighten the balayage and bring it a bit higher, as it was grown out to my ends. I provided Mimi with a few pictures and an idea of the colors I'd be comfortable with. *posted below with captions. It wasn't until I got into my car that I had noticed my entire head was colored, from roots to ends.. and how white/yellow the "blond" tones were. ----------------------------------- Maurizio responded to my initial review and invited me back to the salon this past Saturday, in an attempt to correct Mimi's work. He was welcoming and took his time explaining each step, which ultimately made me feel involved and aware of what he was doing to my hair. Maurizio was able to add brown tones throughout my roots and sections of my hair to balance the blond tones and bring my natural color back in. Unfortunately my hair is still extremely light - however, I appreciate Maurizios time and work, as it did make a difference. Thank you!

Decided to go here for a pre-wedding cut and made an appointment online with Maurizio, I figured he is the owner so must be the best right? Show up on time and was greeted politely as asked to have a seat. Then Jeff introduced himself to me and started the wash, cut, style advertised online for $28+. Jeff was great made conversation about something other than the weather and gave me a nice wash/cut/style. I was just a little confused since I didn't make my appointment with him. Maybe there was a reason for this but Maurizio was around and didn't seem to be doing too much at the time but I didn't want to make a fuss and Jeff was great anyway. Then I go to pay and it was $40. So I'm not quite sure where the $28+ advertised haircut gets you...Maybe just a flat buzz (btw I was in and out in 20 mins, not a difficult cut) . Either way this place is alright for cuts if you don't mind spending a lot money with no explanation as to why I would cost more than advertised or no explanation as to why you don't get the stylist you book. I personally won't be back for these reasons.

The drive there was easy to get to from downtown Toronto. the salon is located on the cutest street with easy access to parking. My stylist Sterling was amazing, she consulted my hair with me and found out exactly what I wanted changed. She did a full head of highlights and it took no time at all. I love my hair!! She is positive, genuine, warm and very talented. The salon atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed, everyone included me in any conversation. I felt at home here. Very clean and well organized. I can't wait to add more blonde by sterling :)
