I absolutely LOVE ALTR Hair Studio! I see Jillian for my hair, and every time I describe what I'm thinking of and tell her to work her magic and my hair comes out better than I imagined! The way they have changed their pricing makes so much more sense and it keeps it very transparent to the customer. At my last visit I had a balayage done, and every time Jillian had to make more product she let me know how much I would be charged for.

I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone! Besides the super friendly and awesome owners, the vibe of the place is so fun and I'm always asking what playlist they're playing cuz the music is always good lol. I've had the pleasure of seeing Kristyn twice (so far, darn Covid). We are working towards a silver balayage on my black, box dyed hair. Kristyn was up for the challenge and I knew going in that it wouldn't be a one-time thing due to, again, my box dyed hair. I have left very happy after each visit - and my hair is actually a lot lighter than I thought we'd be able to achieve after just two appointments. I can't wait to get back in ❤!

ALTR is my new favourite salon! The studio space itself is beautiful and bright, full of real plants and cute decor. They took COVID precautions very seriously, and the space was extremely clean and well cared for. I love that its a small studio with only two stylists so it feels private and intimate. I especially loved that they only take one client per stylist at a time so you get their full attention, and they're not constantly running off to deal with someone else. The pricing is straightforward and transparent which made it easy to know what to expect. I was given product recommendations but wasn't pressured at all to buy from them. My appointment was with Kristyn. I had dreadlocks for nearly 10 years and was finally ready to get rid of them - I was worried I might have a hard time finding someone to take on such a huge project, so I was thrilled when Kristyn agreed. She made me feel at home instantly even though I haven't had my hair done professionally in several years, and was very considerate of my wishes. She took time to explain what she was doing and why, checked in regularly to make sure I was still comfortable, and asked for my consent every step of the way. She also asked how much time I wanted to spend on my hair at home, and made sure to give me a style I could easily replicate myself with minimal effort. I was even given a few product samples to try out before committing to buying the full sizes! I'm SO happy with the end result - she listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I was hoping for. Definitely recommend checking them out - I will for sure be going back again next time I need a refresh!

ALTR hair studio is a beautiful and fun studio with lots of style (and plants!). Both stylists are very friendly and welcoming. Jill has been my hair stylist for over a year and she is absolutely amazing. She is very knowledgeable and always answers all my questions and helps me achieve the look I want. She always introducing me the coolest eco friendly hair products- Love Davines masks now! I've always looked forward to an appointment in this salon because of it's chic but laid back vibes. Kristyn was amazing! I went in knowing my hair was pretty fried from home hair colour, and anxious about it since I had been doing my hair at home for so long. She was super professional and friendly at the same time, didn’t make me feel bad about the state of my hair at all, and it was honestly the best hair cut I’ve ever had. Plus you can add a hair mask while you’re at the sink for super cheap!

I am soooo looking forward to my next visit to Jillian’s chair ???? my experience at altr was absolutely amazing. She took the time to ask me what I like about my hair, what I don’t like about my hair, and what I’d like to change and honestly I can’t remember the last time a hairdresser cared enough to actually 1)ask or 2) be so over the moon about making your hair dream come true ???? I did a super fun juniper green with the CUTEST bangs and she recommended me these products to help style my hair that I have absolutely raved on about to my girlfriends. Seriously a one of a kind salon experience, it was as though we were just hanging out!!!

Jillian is my hair stylist and has been for over 2 years. Jill is fantastic and is real with her clients, she wont promise you something that isn't achievable in one sitting. I love love love these girls!! Super clean and welcoming environment, and they assure you it is a judgement free zone - which for people with anxiety is a nice reminder.
