REVIEWS OF Cree Village Eco Lodge IN Moose Factory

This is a beautiful lodge with a great view of the Moose River where you can watch water taxis zip by, catch magnificent sunsets, or simply gaze out and take in the northern landscape. The lodge has a strong emphasis on the local Cree culture and although there could be more organized activities, the people are friendly and if you ask around you will find things to do.

Took our family here in August 2017. Absolute loved it. Amazing time.

Nice hotel in an unbelievable location. Excellent amenities in room, gorgeous view of the river. Service is very laid back with polite staff. This is a great stay but customer expectations may differ from reality given the location! Bear this in mind when you book, things are a tad different than say a major city! Island is wonderful and the Cree people and guides are amazing. Take a tour from the hotel to James Bay by boat (ask for Wayne, he provided an amazing tour) and try the KFC (seriously there is one nearby). Moose Factory and the dock beside the hotel is a great place for star gazing and seeing the Northern Lights (two nights in a row!). You will tick a lot of bucket list boxes visiting and staying in Moose Factory.

It's nice but in need of a refresh! No coffee maker in room and a tube tv.....have not seen one of those in a hotel in many years!

Loved the view! Great to get the river side and watch the boats come in/out of the channel. Great way to watch the sunset and get pics. Food is not fancy. Had a wonderful plate of nachos made with potatoe lattice cut fries. Pop available. Rooms were warm but we finally figured out the ceiling fan speeds and we could sleep with the window open. It had rained and the bugs were very bad. Bring bug juice or hat. Roads very muddy in town. Thankfully we wore our hiking boots, wish I had brought a pair of light shoes to wear inside. Boots were very muddy. Darrell's Bay Tour (705) 221-2091came and picked us up at the dock and took us out to James Bay. An amazing evening with spectacular views and great information

We stayed here August 24 2016. It was very clean and comfortable and quite a unique building. The staff were great and very helpful. It is pricey to eat there as the cost of food is high in the area (as would be expected this far north). But the food was good and the service was great ! The room was very comfortable and the view beautiful. There was internet available and lots of hot water in the shower. It exceeded our expectations. We weren’t expecting much when we set out on this trip and were pleasantly surprised. It’s quite something to travel this far north.

There truly are no other options. This is quaint, rustic and clean. The view is stunning. The staff are average friendly but inexperienced and lack some knowledge that would be helpful about the island. They do try. Unfortunately the dining room was closed due to the chef having a personal matter and the lodge not having a back up plan. The options are incredibly slim. Really this is the only game in town. So make sure if you go that the kitchen is open. Otherwise your options are chip stands, a KFC and pizza hut located in a convenience store or a horrible diner called Treeline. Don't eat there.....

I stayed at the Ecolodge for a week while doing business in Moose Factory and was very impressed by this beautiful hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the room was comfortable and the restaurant was absolutely amazing (great food and service). I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The Eco Lodge is more way more than what I expected. Clean rooms, awesome dining room (the view is perfect), the food so far has been delicious, the staff has been nothing but friendly. This is my first time visiting the island and I'm so glad I stayed here.

Disclaimer for people who dont know Moosonee or Moose Factory: we drove across the river, I imagine anyone wanting to stay here in the summer will have no choice but to take the ferry. The lodge was nice and easy to spot. We took a cab so I'm not sure about parking. Just inside the front door is the main desk, they were very helpful with our questions. The interior as soon as you walk in is very nice all lumber and tile floors the dining room is nice and a decent size. The menu was limited and pricey but overall not bad. There was no elevator as far as I can tell but the stairwells are nice and wide. There seemed to be a constant static charge in the building because everytime you touched something metal it would shock you including your key to your door, it was bizarre but not inconvenient. The rooms were okay. Mine was very tidy. However my friend got one that looked as though they hadn't cleaned the bathroom in a while. Otherwise the rooms were large dimly lit and equipped with some old TVs. Wifi seemed to work great which was nice. All in all it's a good spot and worth going back to.

It's fine.. not much to eat...no information about the island, people weren't very helpful..

No one will tell the truth on here in fear of of offending them I guess! Chicken wings are undercooked and burgers are server a undercooked too. Spent two weeks there for work and never missed the wife cooking so much in my life. If your kids have difficulty breathing keep them away. Could not breath in that place and used up two puffers in my time there! Also f there mice in your room they are most likely in the kitchen! I'll quit my job before going back there

We recently stayed at the Eco Lodge and were very pleased with our experience while there. During the booking process, the desk reception staff were amazing in answering all our questions and responded to our e-mails promptly. While there we found the room, the staff, and the meals simply excellent! The 'continental' breakfast was superb - the best I'd ever seen! We toured the Island, both by land and by water and were so pleased to be able to learn much about the history and culture of the Cree people! Thank you to all the Eco Lodge staff for providing us with such a lovely and relaxing holiday!

The staff are amazing and the area is gorgeous with stunning views, but the beds are like cement, extremely expensive food, no fridge, kettle or coffee maker in the rooms.

Nancy Veals

Warm and cozy on cold winter days. Showers are amazing! Good water pressure and the hot water never runs out. WiFi is a bit unreliable. Overall an amazing place to stay when approaching the gateway to the arctic.

(Translated) Beautiful place, the unique view from the room. The dining room is very beautiful and the fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere. The only negative is that we hear the slightest steps of people above. It's a shame, because the place is very quiet and soothing elsewhere.

Nicest hotel in Moose Factory, maybe cause its the only hotel there. Beautiful theme! Needs a chef there cooking for the hungry souls everyday at lunch and supper.
