I went in about a month ago and had the BEST EXPERIENCE!! I absolutely loved my time here, I was fortunate enough to get the incredible owner Aran! He did an excellent job and my hair has felt amazing since. He gave me some layering and some face framers and I walked out of that salon feeling like a QUEEN. Seana Hoyle is an accomplished hair stylist. I love how easy going she was when I went in to see her and asked for a wolf cut. I didn't want curtain bangs with the wolf cut so she found bangs that not only worked perfectly with the haircut that I was asking for but these bangs also made me so happy. She was curious and creative and I 100000% recommend her. Such an amazing person too <3.

Mary Jane is an awesome hair stylist - we followed her there from Ed Scissorhands. However, the desk staff can't pick the phone up to set an appointment and expect everyone to use the internet to leave times. I like places that put the customer's satisfaction and needs ahead of the staff's. Very poor location and business model.

I chose to call Vanity House based on their reviews here. I was getting really tired of going through hair dressers - bad cuts and annoying personalities. When I called I didn't know who to ask for, reception ended up setting my appointment up with Sam. I was quite anxious about the appointment based on my previous train-wreck experiences but all that was settled from the moment I walked in the door. Reception is warm and welcoming. Courteous, always hangs your coat and offers you a beverage. I'm not an experimental tea drinker but they looked like they had some really interesting blends that enthusiasts would like a lot. The waiting area is cozy, blocked off enough so you don't feel exposed but open enough so you can see the stylists at work. The layout of the salon is smart. The pictures on the website doesn't give it justice - the ambiance of this salon is sleek, modern with a touch of elegance. The atmosphere is easy-going and comfortable. The staff gets along and they have fun, but at the same time, they're professional. Sam was absolutely amazing - she asked the right questions (which is rare is stylists these days) and actually listened to my input. My haircut ended up being exactly what I pictured, exactly what I asked for and she even styled it a bit differently afterwards. Most stylists do that, but she just did it better - so much better. Long story short - there is a reason this salon is rated 5/5. I'm really happy with my decision to go there and thanks to the reasons above, they'll continue to see my business.

Richelle Has been my hairstylist since I have moved to the city, and she is absolutely fantastic. I can give her poorly worded and vague instructions and she always figure out exactly what I want and I have never come out of there unhappy. I have hair that doesn’t hold a curl and every time I come to her she curls it and it looks great for days. The location is convenient with nearby street parking and a lot behind it and close to lots of other things as well. Would highly recommend visiting

Vanity House has poor business management skills on keeping customers happy. After a very awful colour job by one of their hair dressers, I couldn't get ahold of anyone to help me fix it. Don't expect any customer support after you pay $200 for your hair! Even if you are a repeat customer, because I had been! I had a colour done with Alicia, went from a dirty blonde-brunette to a lighter blonde balyage. Amazing service! Very professional and the vibe of the salon is amazing. Alicia did a beautiful job with my hair. I wanted it a little bit lighter at the roots than it came out, even though I was very happy with my hair. I went back a week later just to lighten it up a little bit more and it was completely complementary when they knew I wasn't 100% satisfied the first time, they handled it very professionally. I've been looking for a salon in London to do my hair right and after my experience here, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Plus they use Aveda hair products which are very natural and smell great, so no complaints. Definitely recommend this place for colouring your hair.

I love the atmosphere and look of Vanity House and I chose it because it was an AVEDA salon and I love their products. I had a really awesome experience there two years ago where I got some colouring done and it looked amazing. Unfortunately, my second visit did not live up to the first. I went in for a nape undercut and a trim with some long layers. The undercut ended up being amazing and I'm so happy I got it, but the actual haircut was terrible. My stylist cut my hair way too short after I said I wanted a trim, and gave me these really uneven layers that don't even make logical sense (one side is a full two inches shorter than the other, parted down the middle), which is strange because she parted my hair down the middle when she cut it, so it should have only been slightly more obvious when parting it to the side. I came in with my hair slightly wavy (from a braid) but she curled it after she cut it which I thought was nice because she didn't charge me extra for it, but now I think she was just doing it to cover up how badly it was cut. I didn't notice until two days later when I washed the curls out, and I saw how stringy and thin the ends of my hair were, and how uneven both sides were. The only reason I'm giving a two star review is because I had a really good colouring experience there two years ago, and I'm not mentioning either of the stylist's names because I'm not trying to make anyone look bad. I'm also writing this review to make sure people do their research before they get their hair done, because I did specifically choose the stylist who did my colour, but I did not choose the stylist who cut my hair, she just ended up being the only one available when I booked my appointment. I did have a good experience in that my stylist was really nice and sweet, I just wish the actual haircut would have been different.

Edit: I just found out the man who cut my hair is the owner. Classy You'd think that with a salon named ''vanity house'' they could do better than this. I only really noticed when I got home how bad it was and I did not ask him to fix it because why would I? He was rushing to go to a party. I am not knowledgable in hair styling terminology but I literally asked for the simplest thing ever but that does not mean chop it like a 5yo would.

I have dark brown hair and wanted some silver highlights but when I went to get it done I ended up strawberry blonde with what looked like lowlights, even though I’d taken a photograph of how I wanted it. I was so nervous going to Vanity House due to my previous experiences elsewhere. Mary Jane at Vanity House did EXACTLY what I wanted! She is fantastic and completely fixed my hair!! Not only did my hair look great but the products she used really brought that healthy look back to my hair and I ended up purchasing everything! I was so pleased with the result I wanted to cry! Also, Cassandra did a wonderful job with my Mothers hair and we both left feeling ecstatic! I cannot day enough positive things about Mary Jane, so thank you so much! The professionalism, courtesy and attention to detail they exhibit is second to none. At this point I've referred a large number of people, and not once have I regretted it. I've been coming here for a couple years now and they do a great job when it comes to cutting hair. Unfortunately their prices have risen far too rapidly, so I'll be looking for a new place, even though I really enjoyed coming here. I paid $50.86 (20% tip, regular price was $40.69) on July 14. As of August 28 I paid $61.02 (again 20%, regular price is $48.82). So in the span of a month an 18% increase in price, just outrageous for a simple mens cut. Their site says $30 for a mens cut, but when I called they said it is anywhere from $40 - $45, so clearly they just pick a random amount when you pay, as I was charged more than they say they regularly do.

Exceptionally busy & not accommodating. Called for an appointment but they were booked, which is fine. Offered me another day but when I told them my work hours they made ZERO effort to find me an appointment another day. Who cares if they can cut hair if they won't give you an appointment? I went to Vanity House today, and booked with Richelle Allan. As always it is scarey going to a new hairdresser however Richelle truly made it a great experience! I walked in the door and I was greeted by the receptionist who took my jacket and got me tea as I was waiting (I came early). After a few minutes Richelle brought me over and sat down with me and gave her advice as well as listened to what I was looking for. After that she gave an entire scalp massage, then washed my hair, gave another massage and a warm face towel! During the haircut she was extremely friendly, and did an amazing job on the final product! After she styled it and walked me to the receptionist who took care of the payments. Richelle truly did an amazing job, and she took her time which not many hairdressers do at other salons. The haircut totaled to an hour and fifteen minutes, and it was the best! I also got to take home the tea! Thanks Richelle!

I have been coming here for about 9 months now and things only get better. The chains will never get close to what is offered here!! The more you get to know the stylists, and they are definitely that, the more they welcome you into their family. There is such a mutual respect between the staff and owners that it sets the relaxing and friendly tone that is Vanity House. From the most delicious head and neck massages, that would make a bald man wish he had hair, to the insightful, knowledgeable and quick witted staff, Vanity House oozes nothing but charm and talent. When you experience Vanity House, you know you'll be back. Rates are inline and reasonable, more so when one considers the entire experience. My wife is getting very frustrated with this salon. The first experience she had was impressive, and a refreshing take on highend salons. Now it is run by rude stylists who sound like it is burden that they have to talk to you. I say this because I called once to schedule a special date for her and I was addressed by a snotty stylist who said they were fully booked and didn't want to do/suggest anything else. The second frustration is the wait. Although it is nice that they are so busy, it is frustrating having to call weeks ahead of time just to get a trim. She has called on 3-4 different occasions in which hairstylists were fully booked. I don't know if there is an under supply of stylists but this is the reason why she can't quite call vanity house her home. She always ends up taking her business elsewhere and it's a shame. It just feels like what once made vanity house so special is now turning them into another snotty, money hungry salon.

I had booked an appointment over email a few weeks ago and provided the necessary phone number as requested via email in order to have my appointment secured. Unfortunately when I arrived, they notified me that my appointment was never booked in despite me having provided the necessary information for booking on email as requested. They apologized to me as they knew this was their error but couldn't accommodate me as a result. This was extremely disappointing and disheartening especially given my time, parking, and enthusiasm to try this salon as a first time customer. However, they recommended J.S. Ryan & Co (new salon/barber shop) to me who were able to accommodate me and ended being a great experience. No other active measures were offered as a result of their error (i.e. discount for next haircut, etc.) Unfortunately, I won't be returning to Vanity House. The parking can also be a bit inconvenient anyways and the reliability of schedule is the first most important thing. Hopefully my experience here is an isolated one that helps their management/scheduling improve as a result.

I’ve been to vanity house 4 times, each time getting a cut and balayage. My first three visits went well. While the prices are pretty high for London, I was pretty pleased with the results so I felt it was worth it. Unfortunately I had a poor experience on my last visit and won’t be returning. I had booked my appointment weeks in advance because I know they are quite busy and fill up fast. I let my stylist know I wanted the balayage to be much more subtle and closer to my natural hair colour than the ones I had previously done, and we agreed on a colour a few shades darker than usual. Partway through dying my hair, another client came in to see my stylist and she turned out to be quite demanding, apparently having made a last minute appointment. I sat with the dye in my hair for much much longer than I am used to, being ignored while my stylist rushed around catering to the needs of this other customer. I could tell she was stressed. Eventually, I started catching worried glances from some of the other stylists, the longer I waited. Eventually, another stylist stepped in to save me and rinsed my hair. My hair was so blonde. It was actually even more blonde than I had ever previously gone, even though we picked a shade much much darker than usual. I expressed my concerns to my stylist and she assured me it would even out in a few days or I would get used to it, and insisted that I needed to purchase a large bottle of avedas “clove” shampoo, which would help tone down the blonde. The shampoo did no such thing, despite its costly price tag. I was so disappointed with my hair and my experience, especially for the price. Luckily another stylist at a different salon fixed my hair. I will say that my first three experiences with a stylist named Alicia were fantastic, but my last experience (with a different stylist that I don't want to name) was so bad I just can't bring myself to return.

I saw Samantha to have some weird, bad, uneven highlights corrected. When I left I had the subtle, natural looking highlights I wanted. I couldn't be more happy with the results. As a bonus, the salon itself is really elegant and everyone I spoke to was friendly and professional. I had a wonderful experience and plan to return.

This place is absolutely stunning! The moment you walk through the doors you are greeted and treated like royalty. The atmosphere and ambience is spectacular, from the Louis Vuitton chairs and couch to the specialty teas served in china tea cups. Its all the details that make this place a pampering oasis. The service was exceptional with regards to my makeover. Aran sat with me during a free consultation and discussed what would be best for me and what I felt comfortable with. I proceeded to make an appointment and took the plunge and had a fabulous hair cut. I am so happy with my cut and the remarkable head massage. I cant wait for my next appointment!!!

The only place I'll ever go to get my hair done. Gorgeous boutique salon with full service. I mean, who doesn't want to sip an herbal tea while getting an essential oil scalp massage?! Richelle is my go-to stylist and always does an impeccable job on my hair. The location is tough for parking, but the service you will receive makes up for that minor detail. I highly recommend!

To be honest, this salon deserves a far higher rating than I have given it as I have had many wonderful experiences here. However, I think the way things are run here sometimes is lacking. I have been a client of one of the stylist's for over 10 years and followed her here from another salon. When she came to this salon, it became unfortunately much harder to get appointments, but I still managed by booking MONTHS ahead. I recently moved away from London, but had the opportunity to travel close to the area so thought I would try and get an appointment since I was close. I booked this appointment almost 2 months ahead of time and unfortunately there was a mix up in communication as I thought the appointment was 30 minutes later than it was. I only realized this when I called to check on the appointment that morning and was told that there was no way I could be fit in, despite travelling across the country and driving that morning from Toronto to get there in time. From my recollection, I would get a reminder call about the appointment usually but this was the not the case. This is a 3 hour appointment and I realize that due to the mix up these things happen, but I explained my situation and I was already more than half way to London. The lady on the phone was not only unsympathetic but frankly didn't care. She said not one person at the salon would be able to help me. I called up another salon in London and they were only happy to fit me in. It's sad to think this is how you are treated after remaining loyal for 10 years.

It had been over a year since my last colouring, and I was sceptical about trying a new salon. Rachel specializes in blonde, and other colours I’m sure, and she did exactly what I was hoping for! I was very surprised at how well it turned out. I will definitely be back. The salon itself is very clean, and everyone was very friendly.

Hands down the best hair place in London. They're upscale, so of course they cost more than SmartCuts, but you get a great cut every time. Friendly and helpful staff. Men shouldn't feel shy about going either, they're unisex and great with both.

Best experience I've had at a salon! From the moment you walk in the door the service is incredibly friendly and impressive. Alicia was my stylist and she was absolutely fantastic, she was super friendly and easy to talk to. She took a lot of time to fully understand what I wanted and delivered without a flaw! I would 100% go back anytime and recommend to all. The decor was also beautiful and the fact that they make fresh loose-leaf tea for you while you wait was also a big selling point for me.

I am a woman who has been looking for a salon since I moved to London in 2001. There are so many salons out there and none of them have given me the full package that I received the instance I walked through the Vanity House doors. From the moment I met the owners, Joie and Aran, I knew my experience was going to be amazing and that I had finally found a place that I could depend on for stellar service. The downtown location is simply beautiful. They really cater to you and want to know your past experiences (what has and hasn't worked). The staff is highly trained, educated and very skilled at this artistry. I have now had my hair done by everyone who works there. It doesn't matter what chair you sit in under the Vanity House roof. You will never be disappointed. I feel like a different person when I walk out the Vanity House doors. An improved version of myself that wants to go on a date with her husband and possibly be on a cover of a magazine ha! From past experience, I would be willing to pay alot of money for the service I receive at their establishment but their prices are just as remarkable as they are. Well worth the investment. They have a lifelong client in myself, my husband, my children, and my mother.

I've been meaning to write a review for Vanity House for a while, and what better time to do it than after getting a fresh haircut. These guys are awesome. From the atmosphere, to the products they use, their passion for hair is apparent. I personally book appointments with either Aran (the owner) or Richelle, both of whom are excellent. I would recommend Richelle to any guy out there looking for a fresh modern cut, she's great with men's hair! Overall a fantastic place. They have earned themselves a loyal customer from me, it's the only place I go to. Thanks again for the amazing service!

I can't even begin to explain how AMAZING my experience was at Vanity House today. The moment I walked in the door for my appointment I was impressed not only by the salon setting itself but how incredibly professional, warm,welcoming and friendly the staff were. I called last minute to see if there was any hope of my hair color being saved. Never the less I walked in with a horrible brassy, orange blonde job and Alicia worked her magic. I am now back to a lighter white blonde shade and couldn't be anymore happier with the end result. Like any blonde, I have damaged, dry hair.. Alicia and Joie both went out of their way to provide information/product/styling information to take away from my appointment. I have had horrible luck trying to find the perfect salon in London. I am very happy to say I will be returning to this salon and look forward to future visits and appointments with Alicia and the amazing staff at Vanity House!

Vanity House is superb! When I was ready for drastic change I found Aran. He worked his magic and I have been going back to him ever since. The atmostphere at Vanity House is warm and welcoming with staff who take care of you from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. I must add, we travel 1.5 hours one way to see our Vanity House family! Well worth the drive.

I needn't have worried, Cassandra was amazing, she not only was a lovely person, but is a great hairdresser, she coloured and styled my hair to perfection. This is an amazing salon with some very talented people involved! I came in with some brassy, yellow, lifeless "ombre" and was assigned to Alicia, who's a specialist on blondes. What she did was simply incredible: brassiness gone, and a classy, smooth and subtle real ombre DONE. And she put in some layers to emphasize the nice color play in my hair. Honestly, could not be happier! And the salon itself is so beautiful inside, AND the coffee was super tasty. Overall, such a great experience, would recommend to anyone! Thank you, Alicia!

Mmmm...I hate getting haircuts but it's a necessary evil of living in polite society. I also hate finding new people to cut my hair. When I lose a hair dresser because I moved or they moved or they got fired or they cut off part of my ear, I usually have a year of bad haircuts from various places where they try to give a template cut as though all heads are identical. That ended when I found Morgan at Vanity House. She has one bad habit she needs to quit, come on Morgan, DO IT!!! Other than that I get the exact haircut I want every time, and they don't automatically give me the hipster cut although they can do that too if you are the type of person who wear a toque indoors in the summer. Morgan I don't need to see in the mirror ok I know you can cut a straight line across my neck hairs. Also they have tea and coffee and some fake LV couch if you have to wait because you can't use a calendar and show up on time for an appointment. Scalp massage, that's the icing on the cake. Hot towel, cherry on top. Not going home with tiny hairs getting on everything and everyone you brush against, that's how all haircuts should end but don't. Don't be intimated by the name, you don't have to be a vain unemployed western grad to come here, they also serve tired, cynical western grads without issue.

I’m honestly in love, up until going here the only salon experiences I’ve had have left me disappointed and feeling robbed. Everyone is so nice, it’s a beautiful salon and they actually do exactly what you want done to your hair. Definitely would suggest going here

Mary-Jane not only did an amazing job on my hair but I love that she asked a ton of questions about how I wash and style on a day to day basis. After my color and cut she even showed me how to style my hair that was quick and easy to suit my busy working mom lifestyle. I cant wait to see her again :)
