Very unprofessional when dealing with younger kids. I cant believe what i heard about this place and how they treated my friends child. Ill make sure to never come here and if anyone i know of is thinking of getting a service at this salon ill make sure theyre aware of how horrible youve treated your customers.

Got a cut from Jonathan. I could tell he didn't understand what I told him to do because he started by buzzing right up to the side of my temple and a few inches higher which is exactly what I said I didn't want.

I went in for a cut and described exactly what I wanted. The hair dresser agreed but then ignored everything I said and cut it her way. My hair looks ridiculous. And when I complained to her she said have a nice day and walked away. I called the manager and she did not care that her staff member gave me such a bad cut. It will take months to grow out and I will still need to get it fixed.(looks like a guys mullet from the 80's ) the fact is hair dressers should talk to the client if they do not agree with what the client wants. I do not recommend this salon.

I'm leaving this review on behalf of a friend. This is a salon she been to a few times in the past with her nine year old daughter. It has served okay for the quick trim (pretty basic for a nine year old) ... this last time however they were stuck with stylist who had nothing positive to say and what should have been a 20 min trim took over an hour... she even had the nerve to comment that her daughter's hair was going to be a problem and will require to be dyed when she gets older! All she did was talk about herself and how she wants to become a firefighter the entire time.. that's fine and all but please take note when the customer isn't happy and wants to leave...

I did used to like this place but then I had a stylist Kim, she ruined my hair and 6 months later its not grown back. She didn't listen to my requests. She cut my hair in a centre parting but my parting is to the side. She was adamant and wouldn't listen she then used thinning scissors on all my hair and ruined it all. I'm never going back.

My wife got her haircut here by Johnathan yesterday. She asked for an inverted bob and it looks terrible. He did not understand what she wanted and he cut the long pieces in the front and made it a classic bob. Not what she wanted at all. Its really choppy in the back as well and it's not even. Other hairdressers at this salon have been great, but not him. She won't be coming back if he's there as she's been a client for over 11 years.

The men's haircuts at Essentials Central Hair Design feel very simple and quick, but the results are always timeless and thought out. I stumbled upon Essentials randomly while looking for a quick and affordable place to get a haircut, and since it was in front of the mall, I figured where else to start than at the front of the mall. I am an indecisive person and always ask for whatever hairstyle the stylist is feeling, and every time, whoever the hairstylist is, will give me a hairstyle that not only I appreciate, but a well thought out choice of timeless hairstyles that will not get old within a month. After my first haircut with Essentials, I kept going because it was quick and I didn't need to explain what I wanted in detail for them to understand that I just cared for a haircut that looked good on me. Don't get me wrong, I still get moments where I get hair in my face or clothes that I can't get rid of until after the haircut, but the speed and consistency of the haircuts are worth it for the random bits of hair I get in my mouth and nose and sometimes and I feel bad that I didn't review this salon sooner.

FRANCA, was so sweet, she cheered me up immensely, while providing me with what details of what she was doing ahead of time. Don’t go to a guy named Jonathan! He wasn’t listening to what I wanted, and kept thinning my hair after I said multiple times to stop. There was a language barrier so I pulled up pictures and he couldn’t even replicate bangs I wanted.

I probably got the best haircut of my life today! My hair is smooth and shiny and I see no dead ends. My hair stylist was Johnathon and he was so accommodating and made sure I was 100% satisfied with my hair. He was friendly and I enjoyed talking to him while he styled my hair. He even offered to take a picture at the end. I could see the effort and consideration he put into my cut and i will definitely be back soon.

I have been going to Essentials Hair Design for quite a few years and tried many different hair stylists. Normally I don't feel comfortable having a man cut my hair but Jonathan was a complete gentleman and did a great job. I was surprised how attentive he was and how he took the time to make sure it was just right. With time and patience, language barriers can be broken. I highly recommend Jonathan and Essentials as a whole. They are keen to make sure you are happy.

Do not get John to cut any of your hair. I think he knows how to cut Korean hair but not Canadian hair cuts. I think if you have moved here you need to catch up to what we want as hair cuts over in Korean are a different style. he needs more training. won't be coming back. seems a lot of others have gone through the same experience as me.

I went in 2 days ago looking to get a natural red hair color done. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted and asked if she could do it to which she assured me she could. What I got was a dark red that looked nothing like what I asked for and she was reluctant to fix it when I told her it was wrong. She put some foils in with bleach to lighten up my hair but failed to do so with my bangs leaving them dark red while the rest was lighter. I pointed it out to her to which she denied it was different and getting her co-worker to agree with her. After arguing with them for a few minutes she finally got my bangs to match the rest of my hair but it still looks nothing like what I wanted. This is the second time I have had a botched hair job here and will not go back for a third. If you're thinking about going here I suggest you find somewhere else to go!

I usually don't get my long red hair cut more than once a year because I have had a hard time getting a decent haircut since my usual hairdresser left. I love my hair and would use him again.
