Though the salon itself is beautiful and clean it wasn't the experience I was hoping for. I really debated writing this review but I think it's important to share my results. I waited 2 months for what was suppose to be my original appointment, unfortunately COVID19 closures began two days before my date. I finally got a seat when the salon opened back up on June 2nd. I had asked for a blonde balayage and even showed a photo. I already had blonde highlights but was looking to lighten them and bring them up as they were sitting at my ears at this point. We did have a consultation early this year and I told her about my hair history. Told her I'm a wash and go person, I don't use heat on my hair, etc. She didn't take written notes. She doesn't remember my saying I use to dye my hair at home before the highlights (you would also be able to see a different colour between the highlights than my roots. When washing out my hair she said red was coming through. She asked if I had ever had red in my hair to which I replied no. I told her I had two rounds of highlights and black before that. She toned me twice to get the red band out. When she was drying it I could already tell this was a botched job. I was so upset but kept quiet. Needless to say I left so disappointed, when I got home later that evening I cried. I was literally happier with what I had going in. I paid $220 for the "balayage" $91.00 for toner to fix the issue $25 for a bonder(?) And $64.00 for a haircut that was less than thrilling as you can see in the photos. Honestly the haircut was worth $20 anywhere else. + shampoo and conditioner for a total of $561 to go home and cry. --- I sent photos to her which I've added here and she called to apologize which I'm thankful for. She offered to have me back and said we might have to go darker". Well darker happened. I'm now a brunette. My entire purpose of booking this appointment and waiting months was to become brighter and now I've paid $561 to do the complete opposite involuntarily. I had no clue I would come out brunette. I am so utterly disappointed and still in shock about what happened to me. I feel like I've been robbed for something I could have paid $20 at shoppers drug mart to achieve. I plan to file with BBB. The photos really speak for themselves.

Had my first appointment yesterday with Sydney. Love the cut she gave me. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted by everyone. Very inviting atmosphere.They even have a coffee/tea bar for refreshments. I would high recommend the salon. I have even already booked my next appointment.

I was in search of a new hair stylist and I’m happy to say that I found one! My daughter and I saw Duc for the first time for a haircut, I also had a color consultation with him. He was friendly and knowledgeable. We both loved our haircuts! The salon was clean and had a nice vibe. Plenty of parking and food places around. I also purchased their hair products and received a discount as a new client.

I have recommended Black Orchid to many friends and coworkers. Everyone I've dealt with at the salon has been professional and polite. The staff and stylists are always accommodating and patient in meeting my needs. There have been occasions where my stylist and other staff have gone the extra mile to stay a little late to make sure I left happy. Whenever I'm getting my colour done, my stylist, Melissa, always makes sure that we are on the same page with expectations, the process, and pricing. I go from my naturally thick & dark hair to blonde. This is not something that can be achieved in one session alone (unless you want chemically melted hair). Melissa always makes sure that I leave with healthy and intact hair, while making sure my hair still looks good in between appointments. I definitely recommend Black Orchid. If you're on the fence about trying a new salon or stylist, I recommend booking a consultation to see if it'll work for you.

I have been to this hair studio a few times now and every time, I’ve had exceptional service. In my experience with hair dressers, I’ve struggled to find someone that can give me what I want without frying my hair or giving me something I didn’t ask for. My hair dresser, Arla, has been able to listen to what I want and bring it to life without fail. I have very textured hair and she has no problem cutting, dying or styling it whatsoever. She also recommends products for at home hair care routines. Overall the staff are very friendly and welcoming which makes a huge impact on the atmosphere of the studio. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Very disappointed. DO NOT RECOMMED THIS OVERPRICED PLACE. STAFF IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL, it was my first time ever doing anything to my hair. i went in to get a balayage but the stylist (JESSICA) said she shouldnt do the ash blonde because with time it will look red so i said okay just do something similar but i want a BALAYAGE. she took 4 hours to do my hair but when she was done i didnt notice any change to my hair, you could hardly tell a difference. so i contacted them and asked for a touch up or redo atleast. i paid $450 and when i went back the two owners and jessica were all being super rude and hardly even wanted to help me out. i was very frustrated and wanted something done to make it look different from my natural hair. they finally decided to add a few lighter highlights so that it can be more noticeable. now my hair looks like i just got highlights of different colours throughout my whole hair. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CUSTOMER CARE. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AND DONT CARE IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME. i would rather shave my head off than go here ever again. a photo of what i wanted and what my hair looks like after two weeks is attached.

Like any woman it is very pleasant for me to get compliments on my beautiful hair, but Simona did not stop telling me that I have full hair and how long it is and I had to tell her earlier before I book an appointment. At first I thought she was flattering me, after she kept repeating things over and over I realized she was upset about it, and not to mention that the haircut came out just a joke, the hair is so crooked that I do not know how to fix it now! What did I ask for, to shorten my hair a bit and make a stylish.. I am a mother of three, who is still having a hard time getting to the hairdresser, until I got to it I finally got the worst service I have had in the last 10 years. I do not want to give one star because I understand it is a business and the reactions here are important to the average. Ask the owner for a comment on the matter. Cheers

It was my first time visiting the salon a few weeks back. It is beautiful and clean inside. The staff were professional and kind. Anastasia cut and coloured my hair. She was very knowledgeable in colour theory and took the time to explain this to me. She did a wonderful job with the cut and colour. Even though my appointment was late in the evening she took her time and even curled my hair. I will definitely be going back.

I have been to many hair studios over the years and have not always had the greatest experiences. But this place by far has always given me exactly what I have asked for. The staff are super friendly and professional. Simona has been doing my hair for a few years now, although I maybe only go in 1-2 times a year she always remembers who I am and what I like done to my hair! I can not say enough great things about this place, you have to check it out!

I have been coming here since I moved to the Cloverdale area. I see Cristina who is very friendly, and always does a wonderful job. The salon is very cute, they carry nice products and have a corner in the front with some clothing they sell. I’m always greeted by someone when I walk in and they have a small refreshment station with coffee, tea, water, and fruit etc. There is also a lash studio in the salon though I’ve only ever visited for hair. I know you can make apportionment online, however I always schedule my next appointment while I’m in.

Love this place! The vibe is amazing and Duk is the best hair dresser I could ever hope to have. They sell super cute clothes as well. Everyone is very knowledgeable and kind. Only downside is they book quite far in advance so I recommend booking your next appointment while you’re in salon. They are well worth the wait though.

I was contacted the following day by phone and email after the occurrence and after my review was submitted. I spoke to Shelly on the phone prior to reading the response here on google and she was very apologetic. I let her know that just for that (alot of business owners never respond to complaints) I’d return for a future hair appointment. Thank you both for the great customer service! See you when my hair grows long enough that it needs another chop! ——————————————————————————— Original review: I had a haircut booked today at 7:45pm. Or atleast it appeared that way. I received an email with a requirement to fill out a health survey (which I did) and then showed up at 7:36pm to the appointment. I waited in my car like asked and brought a mask and texted the number on the email at 7:36pm to let them know I had arrived. I got no message back and no phone call. So either I wasn’t booked or the text message service isn’t working. I then texted again at 8:10pm with no text back. It is now 8:30 45 mins past my booking time. I have a baby at home that needs me so I am leaving. Bummer because I was really looking forward to finally getting a haircut. Darvi

I started going to Black Orchid once my stylist Melissa had switched salons and started working there. I love her work and have been seeing her for years so naturally I followed her where she went. Black Orchid Studio is so cozy, but modern, clean and has beautiful products(my favorite being the orchid oil serum for my curly hair) including lots of local brands. Their studio is definetely a hidden gem, tucked in away off the one way in downtown Langley.
