As a man with long hair, it’s hard to trust new stylists to give me a masculine cut. My appointment with Chrissy tonight checked all the boxes, and far exceeded my expectations. She’s a very warm conversationalist on top of her stylist talents! I had a very genuine experience with fantastic results. Strongly recommend to any men looking for a long cut! In addition, thanks to all the lovely ladies who checked me in and offered hand massages and beverages! I’ll be back soon as it grows out.

Very nice staff. Mens hair cut includes head neck shoulder massage and hand massage. Stylists are very good.

Don't come here if you have curly hair - they don't know what they're doing. Otherwise nice treatment like hand and shoulder massages but it didn't make up for my hair being turned into a rats nest.

I've never been so insulted in my life. I personally saught out this stylist, through googlr and Facebook and LET HER KNOW THAT. I saw her promotion for 25% off...and called in to get it.. Which was the only reason i could afford her. Again she knew this. After we were discussing through my entire hair appointment how HARD it is to find african american hair stylist in Kingston...Then as an Afican American herself, she Charged me extra because i had "thick hair"? So i ended up paying the regular price anyway which put me financially at default. She did my hair in 1 HOUR! No extra time was taken...the so called head massage was 30 seconds. I checked their website and they also do light makeup touches afterwards she did NOTHING. I usually go to Marrello salon (European stylists), and they DO NOT charge me extra for the hair i was BORN WITH. I am beyond pissed. I hope someone actually sees this! Anyone.. woman or man..should be able to walk into ANY hair salon to get their hair done. Regardless of race, hair texture, or hair length. It is 2016...beauty schools need to teach diversity.

I’m super happy with my entire experience at JB. The hosts (Megan and holly) were so fantastic and caring. My advanced stylist Chrissy gave me what I’ve spent years looking for from traditional barbers. Hand massage was lovely.

The haircut was fine as I only got a trim, but was charged $20 extra for having "thick hair" although the haircut didn't take more than an hour, which is what I was paying for. I've never experienced this at any other salon, even when my haircut has taken longer than it was supposed to. I ended up having to pay $80-$90 for a haircut that was supposed to be $60, and I do not think that the haircut was worth this amount. The service was ok, but I really think that customers should be warned about this before getting their hair cut. My friend who has thinner hair than me was also charged extra for having thick hair although her hair took an hour as well, so I am not sure the reasoning behind these extra charges.

Absolutely amazing! Since moving to Kingston a year ago I had not found a new hair salon to go to. I am always very hesitant to try anywhere new as I have had some hair nightmares in the past. My first visit to James Brett was fantastic! I am in love with my hair, it is exactly what I wanted. All of the staff are so nice and welcoming. Sam is an fabulous stylist! I look forward to many more visits, I highly recommend!!!

I've been going to James Brett for several years. It took me a while to find a stylist I feel comfortable with, but I hit on Kate eventually, and have been happy with my experience ever since. I go to the downtown location; it's a calm, quiet place to be, in spite of the number of chairs.

Fabulous salon! They start you off with a complmentary tea, coffee, or water while yoy settle in. After you've outlined your visit, they give you a head and neck massage and offer you a hand massage during while you get your hair cut. The staff is super helpful to each other, the music was relaxing and the price was well worth the experience.

Somehow Jenny knew exactly what I wanted my hair to look like despite me being terrible at explaining it. There was something bothering me about my haircut for the last six months and she fixed it so well, I can barely believe it! I'm incredibly satisfied. This place was 100% worth my time and money, not least due to the amazing customer service.

She did an amazing job in removing my brassy tones & taking me to a beautiful bright blonde, including a wonderful cut for wavy hair. She made it look easy too. I felt the manicure/pedicure service I received was poor, which in turn made me feel uncomfortable asking for a replacement. Unprofessional stuff and very bad customer service, including management. Very disappointing. I feel there is bad lack of training in some depts at James Brett coiffure & spa, including manicure/pedicure, massage and hair. This is definitely not a spa! Five star prices deserve Five star customer service. Not the case here!! This has been one and only absolutely horrible James Brett “spa” experience. My strong recommendation is to omit James Brett coiffure & spa from your spa plans.

The service was very good, everyone was friendly, and it's a nice salon. I wanted a good stylist, so I spent $45, yet the stylist didn't do what I asked for at all, and she cut the front of my hair shorter than the back (i'm a guy).. Who does that? who looks good like that? for a senior stylist that embarrassing. All it takes is for them to slow down and listen to the client. Wont be going back.

I went to James Brett and had Sherry as my hairdresser. She was awesome and gave me exactly what I was looking for. She was very friendly the whole time. After the haircut she gave me excellent tips on how to style my hair at home and recommended some products for me to use to get my desired effects. definitely coming back

I can't even begin to express how impressed I am. Brett cut my incredible special needs son's hair without a hitch. He got down on my son's level and had him actively involved in the cut. I have never seen him take to someone as he did him. Although my son couldn't express how special this experience was I can absolutely say that we are eternally grateful and this is the only person that will ever cut his hair again.

I have been here quite a few times, most of which were good services and that's why it got 2 stars. My latest experience however, was with James Brett himself, who very obviously did not care much for me. He was very distracted by everything and everyone around and this resulted in a bad cut. I had a bald spot shaved on the back of my head, crooked ends, just a really bad haircut for it being from "James Brett". The worst part is he was my first bad experience at the princess location, every other time the staff were great, haircuts were decent.

The customer service has gone downhill at the west end location. They used to offer a water or tea to guests but they didn't today. I witnessed an employee mock a client behind their back for asking for the WiFi password. It was totally awesome how the senior stylist patronized me when I had questions and cut my hair exactly how I told her I didn't want it. If I'm a similar question it's because I didn't understand the answer given previously.

So relaxing! I had a new talent stylist and she had so much knowledge of how hair should be styled etc I totally trusted her to do my hair! Definitely a major step up from first choice hair cutters haha
