This is a review of the business, not the quality of their hair cutting service (Many online reviews state that Valley Barber provides great, affordable haircuts, I just wish I could have gotten mine today).
I Give it 2 stars, only because the barber was polite/friendly, but CASH only. It has been my experience to be wary of businesses that take "Cash only", just seems shady to me.
I drove out from Monte Creek, with the specific purpose of getting a hair cut today, first place I go to, next door to EZ Vape at summit, "Cash only" (their sign was at least clearly posted on the front door), go to Valley Barbers next, small sign inside that says cash only, and you have to really look for it (which I was because I didn't see a debit machine), if I hadn't noticed the sign, I would have waited there at least 15 minutes before it was my turn (it was busy, 130pm on a Monday) to only find out "Cash only". I mentioned to the barber, "What is it with the cash only barbers in town?", the barber, (again, he was a friendly enough guy) said with a smile, "Must be a thing". No haircut for me.
I just don't like having my time and fuel wasted and I am not going to go to the bank machine and incur additional bank fees. I don't carry cash, like 95% of the population does not carry cash anymore, get debit already. Pass the cost on to me, the customer, the additional premium is worth my convenience, it shouldn't be worth your convenience to waste my time.
Both my barbers in Vancouver, and Port Coquitlam (I travel to the lower mainland regularly, just not his month) take debit, 20 bucks for the trim / straight razor, and I give a minimum $5.00 tip, $20 at Christmas.
Why would any business turn their back on good paying customers is beyond me, simply by not providing payment alternatives that 99.9% of all other business's do provide to their customers. If I liked the haircut, this business has lost out on at least $240.00, not including at least $80.00 in tips from me a year.
