Booked a balayage session (160min) for the morning of April 2 (10:30a.m). I was super excited to get my hair done for my friends wedding that weekend. On the day of my appointment, I rushed to the salon, and they told me that they don't have enough time to do my hair........ I told them I have a wedding to attend. They said they can do a consultation with me and book me in for another day that week. So, the hair dresser looked at my hair and said that she need to cut off some hair sample from the back of my head to test it out and call me back by the end of the day to book a new appointment with me, because she didn't know how my hair would react to the dye + how long it would take to lighten. I said okay, cus it was too late for me to book anywhere else anyways. I waited all day for them to call back so I can figure out a plan or a time to get my hair done in time. *** But they did not call me back until April 10th!!! ------- This is so unprofessional!!! Firstly, I made the appointment a week ahead! I don't understand why can't they call me at least a day before my appointment. Secondly, it seemed to me that the hair dresser who cut off my hair for testing, was not very experienced. Thirdly, they said that they will call back same day after experimenting with my hair. But they didn't call until a week after.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I moved from Vancouver and my stylist there referred me to Rachel- So I took the chance and haven’t looked back since. Rachel is the sweetest, most caring and talented stylist! My hair is difficult to colour, and she does an amazing job. She LOVES her job and it shows. She also cuts my 2 and 6 year old children’s hair( no easy feat!) We always leave happy and feeling so great. Rock Paper Shears is a beautiful salon and all the employees are organized, kind and welcoming. The owner (Jessalyn) is so great too. Happy client here????!

I have always had a hard time finding a hairstylist that I liked, and always gave me a consistant, great hair cut. Then I came here and met Cassie. I cannot say enough good things about Cassie. She always does my hair amazingly well and I always love the end result! Whether she is cutting my hair long or short, she always does a great job. After trying out chain salons like Chatters, I wanted a change and a hairstylist that I could call my own. I looked up salons in Edmonton and found Rock Paper Shears. I am now in love with this salon and the staff and I won’t go anywhere else! Aralyn is my stylist and she is so great! She makes my hair look amazing every time and guides me so that I don’t make dumb hair decisions. She took my hair from dark blue to blonde a few months ago, which was not an easy process, but she 100% saved my hair. Plus the salon is mega cute you feel like apart of the family as soon as you walk in the door. I’ve recommended the salon to my mom and some friends and everyone who has gone also loves it! Highly highly recommend Rock Paper Shears.

I had a men's haircut there from Rachel stylist. She is so cool and very passionate. She gave exactly how I asked for and I'm pretty satisfied with their service. I will definitely recommend this to my friends. The only thing that I would like to mention is that the price is a little way higher than the other salon. If that is somewhat lesser then it will be a great place to have a haircut.

I adore this salon. I am a white-platinum blonde and am VERY fussy with my hair. The stylists at the salon are not only talented with color and design but are also well educated on the health and upkeep of hair, especially blonde (which as everyone knows is easy to ruin). My stylist, Kaitlyn, is always warm, approachable, and professional. She always makes sure my needs are heard and met beyond expectation. She is also honest with what is going to work and what will not, which I appreciate. All of the girls are stylish and the salon itself is modern, chic, and clean. Would highly recommend!! (make sure to always rebook as they are busy and it can be hard to get in!!)

I see Sheena, and she is amazing. All of the girls that work here seem very talented, and the salon is spacious and well appointed. I am super fussy about my hair, and I trust Sheena completely. She takes the time to understand what a client wants, and has an aresnal of techniques to achieve it. Plus, she continually attends educational opportunities to learn new skills and keep on top of styles and trends. I personally like really natural looking hair, and she is so good at blending highlight and colours that after almost 6 months, you could still barely detect any demarcation line. She is great with blondes, and we are notoriously the most fussy, high maintenance clients there are! I Highly recommended her and the salon in general!

Trinity has been doing my hair for years now and she is a lifesaver! I don't trust anyone else to do my hair! I have extremely thick hair and Trinity is the only person to date who has been able to cut it in a way that makes me having longer hair manageable without the literally headaches I would get from the weight on my head. The salon itself is so cute and cozy, it really feels like a homey atmosphere as soon as you walk in. I was a bit early for my appointment the first time I went in and I felt so relaxed just sitting in the front waiting area with the cozy pillows and refreshments I was offered. Went here for a for a consultation and had to put up a deposit of $100. I found the consultation by Trinity Tran is very thorough and made me super excited for my appointment, but when I had a family emergency and could no longer attend my appointment, rock paper shears was very accommodating and had no problem refunding me my deposit. I can’t wait to go back and actually get my hair done !!

Not only is she amazingly talented and friendly, but all the staff go above and beyond and are extremely welcoming. They see me come from the parking lot and hold the door open for me, get a coffee as soon as you walk in the door and that's all before you even even see your stylist. Highly recommend this place!

I go to Sheena and I absolutely love her work.. she’s incredibly talented and is always mindful during the beginning consultation of the appointment to make sure she understands exactly what you want. She always makes sure that she’s allotted enough time for your appointmens so they never overlap like other hairdressers tend to do and always makes sure your happy once it’s done. After searching on yelp for hours I came across these awesome reviews written about Sheena from Rock Paper Shears Hair Studio. After being a salon hopper and never leaving happy no matter how much spent i knew it was a gamble and pretty much not feeling very optimistic but I liked everything I saw written about Sheena and the people writing the reviews seemed to have similar issues with there hair as me. I left today SO happy with outcome it’s been a really long time since I could honestly say that. I had washed up bronze blonde with a lot of different colours going on. She cut out my brass with no damage and tonned my roots to my natural for a easy to maintain balayage/ombré. I gave her permission to cut off as much hair as she needed too knowing my ends are dead but I was saving them to keep the look of added length. She only took off a healthy inch and even everything out. My hair looks healthier than when I went in there and that never happens for me especially when lightning! 5 stars from me! A very happy new client! ????

I was so so excited to try out this salon. I've followed one of their stylists (Layne) on social media for awhile and was looking forward to my consultation. The day before my appointment, I was left a message asking to call them back to confirm my appointment, even though I had done so via text message. I called back and the girl said she was calling to see if I could come in earlier. Then she looked me up and told me no, nevermind it was someone else she had left a message for. The next day, I left work and drove over a half an hour to get to my consultation. When I arrived, I was greeted by a girl who did not even introduce herself, then proceeded to tell me that Layne was still busy and was not going to be able to do my consultation at all and she was going to do it. She took me back and spent maybe 2 minutes with me, then told me it would be around $300 for what I was asking, and would take approximately 4-5 hours (for reference, I asked for my semi long hair to be chopped into a blunt lob and balayage). I was then prompted to book an appointment with either her or Layne. This whole process left such a bad taste in my mouth. What is the purpose of needing your clients to come in for a consultation if your stylist isn't going to be the one to do it? I was not given the option to wait and see Layne or no one called me ahead of time to let me know that she wouldn't be the one seeing me. If that had been done, it would have given me the option to reschedule with Layne instead of arriving and being disappointed. They warn you ahead of time via their text message reminders that they have a 48 hour cancellation policy; it's ironic that they expect this of their clients but do not offer their clients the same respect. I cancelled the appointment I felt forced to book and will not attempt to go back after they wasted over an hour of driving time for nothing.

Tried this salon today - wanted a change and saw some great reviews. I lucked out and made an appointment with Cassie. Not only do I love my new hair, I enjoyed the one hour appointment. If you’re considering a change I recommend this salon (and Cassie). Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The entrance is from the parking lot, not right off Jasper Ave.

Moving to Edmonton was great but finding a hair stylist was my biggest fear! I was completely worried that I would have to go through more than one to find the right one. For the first time ever I only had to look one place! After my consultation with Kaitlyn I knew I didn't have to look anywhere else! Cassie has consistently cut my hair so well with great expertise and attention to detail that I can just tell her to do whatever she wants with my hair and I’ll walk away happy. She’s friendly and great to chat with while still meticulously snipping those hairs. The price is right if you want an upgrade in hair style.

Me and my sister have now been going to rock paper shears since 2017 and absolutely love this place! The service provided is always done phenomenally and thoroughly. The pricing is also very reasonable as they count the product that is being used for the amount used on your hair which is super nice considering everyone has a different length/thickness of hair!! Kaitlyn is my hairdresser and she is always so truthful about what i can and cannot do with my hair. She is thorough and always does my hair PERFECTLY! Although, my sister and I trust all the ladies at rock paper shears hair studio with our hair. I have uploaded a few photos of whenever Kaitlyn has done my hair. 100% recommend to everyone and anyone who wants their hair taken care of properly.

You know when you go to a salon and the only one that pays attention to you (sometimes) is your hair stylist, that's not how it was at this salon at all. Not only Did my stylist (Trinity-who is AMAZING by the way) pay attention to me an talk to me, but once we were finished with my session going from box dye black to blonde the rest of the hair dressers there who were also paying attention to their own clients happily, also noticed my hair and commented on it, and some even came over to touch how soft it was from after the colour correction. The whole staff make you feel great, and amazing. Its like rockstar service you can tell how passionate they all are by how much energy and buzzing is going on with the stylists talking to their clients- not just the sound of hair dryers going. Their prices are amazing for the outstanding service you get from here. If anyone is looking for colour correction I recommend getting in contact with this salon and asking for Trinity. I have -NEVER- been so excited about my hair before.

This was my first time at Rock Paper Shears, but I can definitely say I will be returning. I had Aralyn doing my cut and colour and she did an amazing job throughout the whole process. She discussed the different options we had and made sure I was okay with everything, every step of the way. She took special time to show me how to curl my hair properly and discussed aftercare without forcing me to buy anything. I moved to Edmonton three years ago and have never been to a hairdresser in Edmonton more than once. I searched for hours on instagram to find a quality salon and hairdresser. Thats when I found Kaitlyn and Rock Paper Shears. I wanted to go from dark brunette nearly black to white blonde. I've done the process before and every colour in between I have disliked it's been orange and killed my hair. I've seen Kaitlyn 5 times now and every hair appointment she exceeds my expectations beyond what I could imagine. I would never imagine switching hairstylist or going to another salon. I've never had balayage done on my hair in quite that light a shade, and it looks amazing. She gave me great advice on aftercare, and she also just gave general assistance for hair masks. Update April 9th: it was an emergency as I cut a bit of a knotted damaged section of my hair and my color needed a redo with grey coverage. I wanted to make sure I didn’t look crazy after my self hair cutting crisis and I tried to get in for a cut and color but Trinity didn’t have any openings for three weeks. I tried booking with another stylist but embarrassingly got a call from them saying that the other stylist isn’t talking any new clients. I would have loved to go back but waiting 3 weeks for an emergency isn’t something I could do. It seemed like they wouldn’t be flexible and spontaneous and may already have too many clients to make any accommodations. Not my kind of salon after all. Hence, I’ll be going back to my stylist in the west end that would move mountains for me! Feb 23rd: First time at RPS and was a little skeptical booking coz I didn’t see her on their website and thought she was super new; but TRINITY caught on pretty quick that I don’t like my hair tugged and have a sensitive scalp. She was clear about everything I could expect during and after the appointment.made sure I was comfortable at every step. She seemed very knowledgeable about my hair type and she was genuine. She did my color and cut plus recommended products for my hair. She explained how different products work and I thought that was helpful. Little pricey but cute salon.
