Honest to goodness, you will not meet a more passionate team! They're a Eufora concept salon (incredible brand with great values, ingredients, education and performance), they're an academy so their educators are always up with the trends and practicing their skills, and they really treat all of their guests like family. Kathy, Bianca and Christy are the stylists I see the most, but I've had just about everyone work on my hair. I always leave loving my hair, feeling educated on how to style and what to use, feeling loved up and very much looking forward to my next visit. Incredible people with the biggest hearts who work very hard to make the beauty industry incredible and all inclusive. Love you lots La Luma!!

Moving to a new city and trying to find a hair dresser that you like and trust is not an easy process. Through some thorough Instagram searching I came across Kathy at La Luma and I will never go anywhere else again. She is so friendly and so talented. I only like to dye my hair once or twice a year and she does such an amazing job with balayage that this is all that I need, my hair grows out perfectly and naturally!! My last visit she suggested the Eufora beautifying elixir for blondes and my hair has never remained so bright or been so soft in my life. Can't thank Kathy enough for her amazing work!! 10/10 would recommend!

I refused to go to a salon for years on years until I accidentally turned my hair platinum blonde to take out the blue that was stuck in there. My hair was long, fried and just not in the best condition until I finally caved in and went in to see Natalie and I have absolutely nothing but good and positive experiences with her! I used to have long hair until Natalie convinced me to cut it short and now, I can't go back to long hair. She's toned my hair to a beautiful grey, silver, deep purple, and an even blonde! I dyed my hair to a full black, and she brought it back to life by giving me the most beautiful balayage, I seriously wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair that I literally tell her to do whatever she pleases with it.

My first visit to the salon has made me a client for life. Kathy took my grown out balayage with blue highlights to a gorgeous highlighted blonde in one session and my hair felt healthier after being lightened than it did when I sat in the chair. La Luma is a professional and affordable place for those living in Guelph looking for a salon; that will give you a professional service, but an honest opinion on your hair - and tell you how to take care of it. I have been going here for about to years now, and will keep coming back because I have never left dissatisfied. I suggest going to Kathy because, she always does such an amazing job, and her wonderful personality makes the experience even better.

I had such a great experience from start to finish with a student, Maddy. I didn’t have a photo but described what kind of haircut I had in mind, and that’s exactly what she gave me - after she gave me an awesome shampoo and head massage which was worth the money all by itself! I’m not super chatty during haircuts, preferring to have some quiet time and she was cool with that. Styled my hair so nicely I didn’t have to go home and redo it, which happens sometimes. I will definitely go back to her again!

Although I was treated well and staff were kind the results were not what was asked for. I was charged an insane fee for a result that was not achieved. I asked for a much lighter tone with balyage and a layered hair cut but instead received almost no hair cut, and one solid dark tone that was very off from what was asked and the pictures that were shown. I have never paid so much for a salon visit with such a poor end result.

I have had a few bad experiences with getting my hair cut which left me not wanting to get it cut for over two years. I finally decided it was time for a change and I went to La Luma and had my hair cut by JB. She did the most amazing job at listening to what I wanted and managed to somehow cut off all the dead but leave my length. I felt like a new person with my hair and I have gone back 3 times now, every time being as amazing as the first. I'm about to go get my hair colored there now and I have nothing but high hopes :) LOVE IT, and wish they could be in Toronto as well.

I have pretty thick Asian hair and I'm always nervous about getting it cut short, but this is the best short haircut I've ever gotten! (This is the second time I've been to la luma salon). Even after washing and drying my hair, it still looks great! I had the most amazing time today at La Luma thanks to the staff, especially my stylist Vanessa! I was greeted kindly and attentively at the door, and almost immediately began my appointment. Vanessa was very considerate of what I wanted to do with my hair. The results I got made me so happy!! I've never felt more confident with my hair. The overall environment was amazing as well. It's casual so that you feel really welcome, but also very professional so you know you're in good hands. I would definitely recommend La Luma and Vanessa to anyone. Hoping to be back soon!

I really enjoy going to this salon, the prices are great for getting your hair coloured. The students here all have the knowledge and experience you need for a great look. Experienced stylist watch their work and give them tips. Great location for grabbing a coffee before your appointment with red brick right beside the salon, but they also offer you nice beverages during your appointment.

Kathy Kuper is the only person I trust with my long locks. I don't know much about hair, but any time I've ever needed a change, she creatively comes up with something I love. And it helps that she is super friendly and nice to chat with in the chair if I'm there for a long process. Also, for what it's worth... EVERY EUFORA PRODUCT SMELLS LIKE HEAVEN. Ask for the Skittles scented product. You won't regret it.

I have been a loyal customer at la Luma for the past four years and still make the trip from Toronto now that I live there. I always chose to get a student to do my hair for a few reasons, its more affordable, I like giving them a chance to work with long hair and I honestly have never worried about a cut being messed up because at the end of the day hair grows back (but each and everytime they have done a wonderful job)! They take their time (not too long though) and pay attention to detail each and every time. I always get great hair advice and my hair feels 10 times better than when I walked in, this time I had Alexandrea who was not only professional and presice but also great conversation! Haircut was overall okay. The atmosphere was awesome and everyone was really kind! However: I asked for long layers and was only given literally 2 layers ( I even brought along a picture that clearly indicated multiple layers of hair -some short, some medium, and some longer ). This isn’t what I wanted, isn’t what the picture I brought along showed, and unfortunately with my hair curled up by the end of the appointment, I didn’t notice till I came home and washed my hair. Also, my front bangs were cut unevenly! I got curtain bangs, and the bangs on the left side were shorter than the bangs in the right side. There’s nothing that can be done about this other than cutting the right side shorter as well ( which I dont want to do) . Overall the experience was pleasant, staff was very nice, and I felt welcomed... but I felt they didn’t understand my vision that I clearly had explained and brought some photos of.

La Luma is dedicated to building leaders in the beauty industry and ensuring the success of their students in their future careers. La Luma consistently delivered amazing education even currently through a pandemic, showing that they genuinely care about their students. The academy also teaches you about self development alongside technical development. I learned how to properly show up in the workplace and how to become as responsible adult in my year of education. I will be forever grateful for the growth and empowerment this program gave to me. Currently I am employed at La Luma Salon, and I am yet again amazed by their perseverance. They commit to creating an environment of growth and leadership in the beauty industry even through COVID-19; there is no Salon and Academy like La Luma. We've brought our toddler here twice for a hair cut. The cuts have been pretty good, our only gripe is that the length is left a little long so were forced to either trim it at home (which we are fine with) or make another appointment in 2-3 weeks which, during a pandemic, isn't ideal. They're very accommodating, and we appreciate that. Just wish they'd consider length while cutting.

I had a really awful experience at La Luma Salon. I called to book an appointment and I made sure to request someone who was experienced and good with curly/wavy hair. Well, the stylist they set me up with, Natalie, was definitely not. She didn’t know how to cut a bang and she didn’t blend anything or give me anything close to what I requested — and I had made sure to show her pictures. The cut also took an hour and 45 minutes, which was excruciating, especially since there was a student stylist there watching what she was doing. I called and complained the next day and someone named Kathy attempted to fix the cut. She spent a half hour trying to blend it with thinning shears (which definitely didn't agree with my fine, wavy hair) and then suggested that I come back in three weeks so that she could clean it up. I decided not to go back. The experience was just that sour. I think the worst part was that I requested someone with experience and was given a stylist who had literally just finished school in the spring. I should have been told that she was a fresh graduate (especially since I asked for someone experienced), then I could have decided if I wanted to have her cut my hair. I think $45 plus tax for an inexperienced stylist is a bit much.

I went in for highlights. I asked for it to be lighter and brighter (which it is) which is why I left happy until I got home and inspected/felt the damage. My hair was over processed. The bottom is white & fried. The top is yellow and brassy. I was told when toning that it either had to be yellow or purple. Purple hair is not what I wanted at all so I said I’d rather it be more yellow. I’ve never been to a salon where I had to pick usually they can lift my Entire head & tone Evenly. If you’ve been doing blonde hair for years this shouldn't be an issue. The foils could’ve been closer to the scalp as I also left with dark roots that looks like root regrowth already. Also my hair was in pretty good condition before my service & I left with it rough as straw and brittle. Maybe a 100+ back to back foils would be okay on virgin hair but I never said mine was. I didn’t want to question anything going on & trusted the process but I probably should’ve spoke up. It’s sad cause the girl was nice & service was good(yes I tipped). Unfortunately the damage is done now all I can do is wait for my hair to heal and grow out before putting anymore bleach. There’s no fixing it without more damage. I’d suggest people to see a master stylist if they’re going to a salon they’ve never been to.

I was looking to get a balayage done and due to this location's great reviews, I decided to try it out recently. I have virgin black hair so this was a huge commitment for me so I wanted to make sure I went to a professional place to get it done. The staff was friendly and the actual environment of the salon was really nice however my hair did not turn out how I wanted it to. I had asked for an ashy brown balayage (with reference pictures) and my end result was more of a light brown colour. It wasn't bad but I was just disappointed that it didn't look like what I wanted. I let my disappointment go and eventually got used to the hair but after just one wash, my hair looked so brassy that it basically just looked orange. After looking at my hair even closer, I noticed several hairs that were just blonde without any of the hair dye on it as well. For $300 I expected to have gotten what I asked for and to have been able to keep the colour for at least 3 washes before it started turning brassy. I've gotten so frustrated to the point that I will be dying my hair back to my original colour after less than a week of having it dyed. I cannot believe I spent that much money for my hair to turn out like this and I am very disappointed about it.

Came in for highlights on my already blonde hair. Everything looked good at the salon but once I left the ashy blonde progressively turned grey. After 8 hours my full head was completely grey with blue areas. I called and asked what I could do to resolve this and the receptionist told me that the grey would come out after approx 6 washes. When I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor explaining I wasn’t really happy with the idea of paying for a treatment to be told to “wash it out and wait” she said someone would call me back and they never did.

First time I went I had Sebastian absolutely wonderful went home happy with my hair feeling soft. Had him book my next appointment for 8 weeks later. I had to reschedule due to my work schedule. I made sure that my appointment was with Sebastian. I go in he is not there are they have a different hairstylist do my hair for MORE MONEY than I was supposed to pay. They inform me it was because Sebastian moved up a level good for him, would be willing to pay additional for him but not this random person. I am worried about things shutting down so I said go ahead and cut it. Shampoo, condition, and cut all great normal level of quality I expect. Hairstyling however was not I asked for it to be curly like my natural hair is apparently that was a huge mistake. She put so much product in it my hair felt greasy and unwashed. Also the finished product looked stringy and left me like an wet poodle. Shall not be returning any time soon/

So I went to La Luma to get a strain test, as I already have colour in my hair and I wanted them to take it out and make it lighter. So I wanted to go from brown redish to blond. They said, after the strain test turned out blond, that they have to apply a toner and it will be darker, showing me a dark blond example of how my hair is going to look. This is not what I wanted so I asked them to not do the toner. They ended up saying they cant help me because it would damage their reputation. I ended up going to a different place and they didnt have any troubles lightning my hair and putting toner in it and it is very blond now so I really dont understand what the guy from La Luma was talking about. Also, the price they told me with a student doing it and what I eventually paid at the other place was significantly cheaper.

I did a lot of research before making an appointment here. The great reviews made me want to give it a go. My one stipulation was I needed to be able to tie my hair back. I basically got a bob. So disappointed! The worst hair cut I’ve ever had. Half my hair isn’t long enough to tie back, so it just looks ridiculous. By the time I realized how short it was it was too late to do anything but grin and bear it. Really a shame because the stylist was super nice. I should also mention it wasn’t a student- I paid nearly $100 for the top, most experienced, stylist in the place.

I was even a little bit late for my appointment, and they were very understanding. I got my hair cut by Lauren, and she was fantastic! Possibly the best cut I have ever received! She spent some time with me beforehand trying to learn more about me and figure out what kind of style best suited my needs, which is something that no other barber has done with me. I basically put it in her hands to decide for me, and I am very happy with the result! She also gave me some great recommendations on new styling paste, and I've been using it every day since then. I have been going to a stylist in Cambridge who was supposed to be getting my hair to look like a particular picture I had wanted and hadnt achieved it in the two times I had already went. I went in expecting a full balayage and cut, I showed Brianna pictures of what I wanted and I explained explicitly what I was going for and said that she could do it. After getting it done and when I was getting it blown out she noticed that the roots were VERY brassy so she put what I'm assuming to be toner on it to fix it, little did I know this did not help it at all. I paid for a full balayage and left not knowing how bad the yellow and brassiness was. I got home and was very unhappy with the results, the blonde was not the ash-blonde I asked for but yellow and very orange near the roots. I then contacted them to get it fixed, I went back in and explained how I had expected more blonde as I paid for a full balayage and that this wasn't the color I wanted whatsoever. She then proceeded to tell me that I had to book ANOTHER session to get as light as I wanted it (was never told this prior)and she then put something on only the front top of my hair which I thought was going to help but, made it even worse! It looked like she had dyed only the top front part of my hair auburn! From there I no longer wanted to go back as it had been 2 times now I had gotten bad results. Following that, I went to another salon in Guelph and the stylist proceeded to tell me that 1. I didn't get a full balayage, 2. the cut was all kinds of wrong ( not even), and 3. I didn't need two sessions. After this, I emailed the salon again! Asking for a refund as paid quite a fair amount of money to get it botched up (TWICE). They emailed me back saying they don't do refunds and that they told me it would take two sessions, which they didn't. All in all, this was a terrible first time for me, not to mention I never had gotten my hair done before. This has now scared me about getting my hair done in the future.

I have gone to La Luma before and been very happy with Jen. However, this time my regular stylist wasn't available so I had to to see Lina D for a cut and colour. The experience was awful. I absolutely hate my haircut. The only thing I told her was not to do anything short, and that is exactly what she did. She did extremely short layers...so short that they can't even go up into a pony tail. My hair is extremely thick and she thinned it out so much that it looks like it has wispy straggles coming out from under a shag. I told her it was too short and she argued with me telling me she didn't touch my length. I am so upset and devastated to have to walk around with hair like this. To sum up the story, some of the girls at La Luma are amazing but do your research. Do not just go with whoever is available.
