Customer service is terrible here. We had an appointment for my son at 7pm, picture day the following day. We arrive 5 minutes prior to our appointment and were told that they were running 30 minutes behind. No big, we just walked around for a bit to keep my 9 month old entertained. Upon returning they took two walk-ins prior to my son. We were still waiting as of 8 and left. Never going back.

I'm not giving one star cuz I never actually got a hair cut. Update. I went when they where taking walk in hair cuts and I was very satisfied with my hair cut

Front desk was awesome. My barber/stylist was bad. I asked for a wash, cut and style. He didn't wash my hair. Didn't show me the back of my head with a mirror, so when I got home, my girlfriend pointed out that it was very uneven. And my neck was itchy and irritated as hell. For half the price, I could have got a better cut at first choice...heck, even Walmart. I would rather drive 30 minutes out of town and go to Tommy Gunn in Kitchener. For the same price, they are light years ahead od this place.

Ive only been there once. The service was great. I booked a appointment for 5:30 and i got in early. I have black hair and the guy who did my hair (mourad). Was extremely skilled he knew what he was doing. He was fast i told him what i wanted and he did an incredible job. Ive been to alot of haircutters in guelph to see who could do black hair the best. It was easily ashby grove. Urban cutz does a good job for a expensive price but if you want a incredible cut for a good price. I recommend here. Ill be coming here for a long time.

I went here for a haircut and a hot towel shave, during the hot towel shave the barber cut me twice, then he never said anything about cutting me. One of the cuts was still bleeding 3 days later and ended up needing 3 stitches and the best they could do is refund the shave and they said they would give me a free service when I came back. So I went back to give them another chance and they would not honor the free service I hope you never have the displeasure of dealing with this establishment. There lucky they don't get sued.

I have been here four times in total, I got a good hair cut at first. The next time i went in there it was such a mess that i had to trim down all my hairs. After some hair cuts from another place i went back and i got a nice hair style. Hoping the same today i went in. As i reached home after my hair cut, i could not believe if i actually went to a barber or just rubbed my head on concrete. I have bruses on my neck at two places from the trimmer he was using. He left all the hair on my neck side instead of giving them a shape. With the amount they are charging, these people need to hire some barber who knows something about men hair style . I am heading out to some another barber now because i dont have energy to argue with these guys. Do yourself a favor and trim your hair at home rather than going to these people.

The thing I enjoy most about Ashby Grove is the convenience it brings to my life. Having an high quality barber shop inside Stone Road Mall is an excellent idea. This establishment is very easily accessible unlike many other barber shops in town that do not offer ample parking and extensive business hours. Ashby grove is open 7 days and week and always has time to accept my business. The space itself is spacious and well decorated and the staff are generally friendly and helpful. I have had my hair cut at this location by several barbers and have noticed that the level of experience between individuals varies. I have had a few excellent haircuts and a few unsatisfactory haircuts during my last few visits. My most recent experience was great, however. Considering the very reasonable pricing at Ashby Grove, it's an easy choice for a quick and convenient haircut.

The place is nice. My boys hate getting a hair cut so this wasn't the best place for them. But they did try but it just didn't work out. The person doing my son's hair was super sweet. Didn't want trouble charge me but I insisted - as he did cut half his hair and was patient with him. Just bit the plbest place for my boys but they did a great job with what they had to work with ????

Went here once for a cut with Jacob; it was perfect (he was fast, nice, and did an awesome job). I hadn't bought any hair-styling product in years cause I normally don't like the fuss in the morning but he made a great recommendation that's easy to use and works for me! I decided to go back on a whim after that cause I hadn't ever had a hot towel shave before and saw they offered it; I had Cathy for this and she was amazing. I've been to her twice now cause the shave is much better than anything I could do at home and the experience was worth it; you get completely relaxed when the hot towels go on and she knows what she's doing with the straight razor, which is comforting. Although I had two different services by two different people, I'd definitely recommend the place in general; worth a try if you're thinking about it!

Not sure if this place switched owners recently, but I had my hair cut here today for the third time and will not be back. The guy I have seen twice before - Zat - no longer works there, so I was scheduled with someone new. Worst haircut I've ever had, it took almost 50 minutes to cut, and cost almost $30. There were no other appointments in the time I was there, no walk-ins - the place was dead. I'm starting to think I'm the last to know about the steep decline in quality - whatever the case - I do not recommend.

I told my barber this morning that I was growing my hair out and he said he'd "freshen" me up for my convocation photos. He cut over an inch off of every side of my head and, without asking, styled it the same way his own hair was saying "I'd look good in the pictures". Receptionist was very apologetic, offered a 20% discount, and recommended other barbers to make appointments with next time. Only reason this isn't a 1-star is because she was helpful, I'm very upset with my hair cut and have since taken my business to Folklore in Morriston.

I should have cut my own hair. I can clearly see that my hair is uneven and cut rather carelessly. My crown was left with a bit of length in comparison to the rest of my head and the left side of my hair is a little jagged. I recommend taking your money to JCs or Fusion hair studios as they are around the same price but offer much more experienced stylists and a better salon experience overall.

Definitely the worst haircut I've ever gotten, and 33 bucks too! Showed a photo of what my hair usually looks like and asked for the same and the barber cut it so short it's almost a buzzcut. I wear glasses so I had to take them off so I couldn't notice how short it was. Barber didn't talk to me at all but spoke to another barber in another language the whole time. Was very rough, can say it was the first and only haircut that actually hurt! Wouldn't recommend and won't go back myself

This was by far the worst haircutting experience of my life. I went to ashby grove on September 27th 2020 at 3:45pm. right off the bat the experience was not good , considering they were 15 minutes late for my BOOKED appointment. (now i understand accidents and time on some peoples hair might have went over - which could have made her late) none the less , still late. Once i got inside the place, I let my barber (her name is KAT) know what i wanted. The top to be trimmed and the sides faded. Please refer to my pictures of the "fade" i was provided and the trim of the hair on top of my head that i can no longer wear a hat without. These are simple request from a barber shop only dealing specifically with men. as you can see from the pictures the trimming around my ears was clearly un even , hardly anything was really cut , and what was cut looks atrocious. seriously looking at these photos it actually looks like the cut wasn't finished yet, when apparently it was indeed. We ended up bickering back and forth with her saying what i told her was the wrong thing. How is it possible that i have used this place before ... always told them the same thing ... and everyone has gotten it right except for KAT? To say she doesn't know what she is doing is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Now closer to the end of my "great experience" here at ashby grove , i asked her to use the straight razor to clean up the edges, which she then said to me word for word " i'm not sure i have time for that". Im sorry but you don't have time for a client who is paying for the service ? This was seriously, by far, the worst experience i have ever had at a barber shop. Im not sure how many times she said my hair was not long enough on the sides to blend, when i haven't had a haircut since covid started, (the longest time i have ever gone without a haircut in my life), when normally i go for my cut after 2 months or so. So she had 10 months of growth and couldn't do a fade apparently . I paid for this haircut in good faith because I did not want to argue with her and cause a scene, which was absolutely not deserved. When asked in the future of places to go for a good cut. I will pass on my experience yesterday at ashby grove, and will never be back again unless this is made right. look forward to hearing back from management on this one. Ps. KAT is apparent a top barber there as she is a "director barber".

Someone had to come in and help her. At one point there were three people working on his hair. After an hour. My ADHD child Sat there. I felt so bad for him. And left with basically no hair. ????

The result of this hair cut speaks for itself, asked for 4 aces designed into his hair, was told no problem, half way through decides its too hard and she cant do it, looks like a 4 year old did it and was still made to pay for it and didnt even fix it. Great haircut... with that being said ...when asked how old my son was at checkout I never for one second thought that answering 11yrs old would mean that I would be charged for a MEN'S full rate haircut. Can kids please be kids until they are at least teenagers. The response was anyone over 10....10 is now considered a MAN!!! Clearly post your pricing and your age cut off for children.... I am sure many parents will reconsider and look for a less expensive option 33$.... a bit steep for a CHILD'S haircut.

So my first experience with Ashby was great 5 stars. So upon my return visit i make an appt with the same guy. He's there when I make the appt so i wait for 90mins for my appt. I get there after waiting 15 mins the receptionist says he won't be back for another 45 mins and this amazing lady can do my cut for half price. I have short hair. I show this lady a photo of what I want and she seemed to not know what a skin fade is but says she can do it no problem (If you can't do it theirs no shame in telling me). 60 mins passes and she's still trying to figure out that she has to straight rafor my head. I explain I'm going to be late for a wedding and she tells me the guy id originally made an appt with would have to fix it for her. But I'll have to wait till he's done cutting someone else's hair. I had to get up and leave with an unfinished cut because I was going to be late for a wedding. The receptionist apologized and said they'd discount it 30%. When originally she said 50%. I paid my haircut and left. No one seemed to care that my cut was both not finished and not what I asked for. But I still paid for it. It's tough to find a good skin fade in guelph. Really sad I thought I found a good place but the customer service is terrible. This is legit the first bad review I've ever cared to write on this... that's how bad it was. And I'm going to a wedding with half a line up and no blend in my hair hahaha

I have only been to this place twice and I have mixed reviews. The first time I went and had Ayad and he cut my hair perfectly and I loved it. Second time noone was available except for Kat. I asked her for a fade and to take only half an inch off the top (my hair was roughly 6 inches on top). After I put on my glasses I see that she left the sides too long, rounded the top of my hair, and then left only 2 and a half to 3 inches of hair on top of my head. She also made the back lop sided. I will go back in a month and go with someone else but I would recommend never picking Kat.

For the 2nd time in this shop, I was given a haircut, completely from what I asked for. They either don't understand simple requests, or don't care what the customer wants. I asked to have my hair "cleaned up in the back", trimmed on the side, but left over the ears, and left slightly long on the top due to lighter hair. The end result was no where near that. After discussing what I wanted, and him saying he understood exactly what I wanted, he just cut as he wished. The hair could not reach my hair on the side. The back is as short as a military cut. Does this shop use graduates from barber schools, or simply teach them a basic cut. NEVER will I be back to that shop. If you want a basic 'military cut', they are great. Anything beyond that, run as fast as you can, to get out of the shop. Too much money for this kind of a poor hair cut. When I told the barber I thought the side was way too short, he simply said it would grow back. Clearly he didn't care.

Worst haircut of my life! The barber didn't know what I was trying to describe to him for my haircut. He looked new and nervous and gave me an uneven butchered haircut that looks awful. The topper is the sideburn job he did. He had no idea how to trim sideburns and when he did do it after I explained to him how, he basically cut them right off so I don't have sideburns. This place is a absolute joke!

Disclosure: Been a frequent customer of Ashby Grove at Conestoga Mall prior to this visit. Receptionist was interested in chatting than helping folks out. Barber who helped me seemed new and unsure what to do, with somewhat disappointing results (after almost an hour of haircut). There was even a low-key argument between the employees due to incorrect assignment of a customer.

Showed the guy today a photo on my phone of what I wanted , simple 0 fade keep it long on top. Buddy says no problem . He basically cuts everything off the top leaves about an inch and fades the sides more then a 1 and looks like my newborn could have done a better fade. Absolute joke of a place to get your hair cut. Then i went today and asked to use a coupon that they gave me which said kids free hair cut with adult hair cut. I didn't need my hair cut but both kids did. I was first to mention that i am willing to pay for an adult hair cut to get the free kid cut. "Oh no we can do that", we cant possibly try to save a loyal customer a few dollars. Stopped in today for a haircut with my 3 year old son. Camilo did such a fantastic job and really took his time to make sure my son looked great. My son has a double crown and very often i'm disappointed with how his hair looks after a cut. Camilo was also super patient with him . It's very hard for a 3 year old to sit still. We will be back for sure. Thanks Camilo!

Yup, went into the store for a cut, and got the barber cut my hair with no mask on. After complaining, he put on his mask. At the end of the cut, turns out barber hasn't had the vaccine yet, which he himself tells me. Apparently has no time to go get it done. No mask, no vaccine, yeah, good luck. I am not coming back to your shady spot anymore. Been going there for over 2 years now.

Way over priced. Price increase from 33 to 39 :/ can get a professional cut and straight razor cleanup for 30 at village cigar and barbershop. Village cigar has a way better atmosphere too. Won’t be back to Ashby.

I had been growing my hair out for 10 months. I went in to get it trimmed and styled. I was descriptive in what I wanted and even showed pictures of my own hair from how I wanted it to look and Zoltan completely ruined my hair and cut it WAY too short.

Can you imagine, in 2018, a woman asking another woman to feed her baby in the bathroom? Reducing her to tears of embarrassment and humiliation for daring to feed her child, in the back of the shop, facing the wall? And still being asked to wait to feed her crying and hungry baby because she is in a shop full of men, and then PAY FOR A SERVICE TO BE PERFORMED on her other child. This is ILLEGAL and absolute nonsense. Whoever this woman working the front desk is needs a reality check.

Haircut was average. Cost me 28$ which is very steep. I usually go to Lombardos in the No Frills plaza. He charges 18$ includes complimentary neck shave. They do my neck and side burns with a straight razor which is a nice added touch. The location for AG is convenient however if your willing to travel an extra 5 mins...go to Lombardos..its 10$ cheaper and the service and quality is top notch.

Never coming back here . Zoltan, this guy need to understand what customer wants. Just because he was in rush, he starts haircutting without even asking me what i want. When i try to explain by showing a picture . He says , everyone wants to become brad bitt. No one come to barbershop to become bradd pitt. This guy needs to chill and need to understand customer wants a decent haircut thats it . and they will try to explain by the most simplest way which is by showing a pic. I ended up having a haircut which i didnot wanted at all. Done with this guy.

Ali was on a rush to finish. Did not seem to pay attention and just want to get the work done right away. Too quick and doesnt value what the customer says. I went back here altho it was expensive because I had a good experience but not with this barber. May never come back. I understand that I wasnt able to give him a picture but man, the haircut doesnt even have any sort of creativity at all, even a unexperienced one can do it
