First of all, I need to start out by saying how welcoming this shop is. I have been bringing my little man to the Royal Barbershop for almost a year. You see, my little guy is on the autism spectrum and for many, many years hair cuts have been a challenge. I decided to give this shop a try after it came highly recommended. We booked our first appointment during a quieter time to avoid sensory overload. The shop was so welcoming and for the first time my little guy felt comfortable. It's become such a positive experience for us that he even enjoys a Saturday afternoon cut. Thank you to Rob and all of the amazing barbers who have taken the time to make our loooooong journey of finding the right place to fit in. I wish I could feel the gratitude I have for you all!

The barber rushed my hair cut. I was in and out of his chair in a few minutes I wouldn't mind a fast service if it was of quality but sadly, it wasn't that great. The barber nicked my head and my ear with his clippers. I was asked TWICE this weekend by different family members "who cut your hair" and then they pointed out the un-even/non blended sections. I did take the time to read the reviews before going and seen most were positive but a few did complain about a rushed hair cut and an un even finish. I can only speak of my experience .

I've been here 3 times now, the atmosphere is good, but this is the WORST hair cut I've ever gotten. I asked to have one side blended down from the top and the other side trimed up to the part of my hair... Laura Vance who cut my hair clippered all the way around my head leaving me with an uneven patch of hair on top of my head. This is the second time I didn't get the cut I asked for from her, and last time, after I got home I had to trim up my own hair from the job she had done... I gave this place 3 tries because the atmosphere made me want to like it, but this is the worst cut ever.

I've gone here 2-3 times thus far and it's awesome. It has that real barbershop feel, fades are awesome. I went in and got my cut done by Osman and he knows what he's doing. I love going in there because they don't waste your time taking forever to cut your hair. You go in, tell them what you want and then you're out. It's as simple as that.

Had a walk in at this barbershop. Fortunately they had space to fit me in. I had a touch up hair cut to fix a previous bad cut and the shop pros fixed it really nice. Am very happy with it. The reception man was welcoming and offers waiting room clients beers. Great hair cutters. I recommend it.

They just sat me down and started cutting without asking what I wanted. They also didn't dry my hair and I left with wet hair in the middle of November and I had to walk home in the cold. I didn't realize that they cut it differently from what I wanted until I got home and my hair had fully dried.

Just got back from my first trip there. Growing up in Saint John, I went to Defazio's barber shop on Germain Street and so always felt more comfortable at a barber shop than a salon and have a certain nostalgia for it. Since then I have been to many places and but personal grooming is not something that I terribly adept at so I am not able to offer much instruction for a hair dresser/barber for how I want my hair cut. The resulting vanilla cut that I typically get has usually suited me ok since I'm not fussy but I've always sort of wanted something a little better suited to me. Today I decided to try Royal out and am very pleased that I did. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. They are just the right kind of personable (I'm a little shy), as well as skilled and knowledgeable. In my usual form, I could not offer much direction for what I wanted so gave her some license to "make me look like clooney" and for the first time in memory, I actually got something that I really liked even though I'm still no clooney. I have to say, a better cut than ol' Gerry Defazio's used to offer (rest his soul) and to boot, I got a nice beard trip and neck shave with a straight blade. Very reasonable price - cheaper than a hair dresser and a better experience and end product, in my opinion. As a nice bonus, they weren't busy this morning and could take me right away. Definitely going back next time.

Not impressed with the service I just received at the Royal Barbershop. My 9 year old sons appointment was at 3 o'clock. I phoned 2hrs before saying we were going to be late since my sons baseball game was running late. The owner said no worries you're the only appointment. We showed up at 3:20, and he gave the appointment to someone else. I understand this and appreciate it, but he turned us away saying that he was closing after. Friday when I made the appointment he said the shop was open till 4pm, and his website says 5? For a hair cut that would have taken 10 mins, I'm not impressed. I'm sorry to say but they lost a customer.

My husband and I are travelling for extended periods and the quality of our haircuts becomes a game of chance. My husband always goes to a barbershop and I have discovered that finding the right "cool" barbershop also works well for me. I have VERY thick grey hair that gets big fast and it needs a lot of texturizing to bring it under control. We were excited to discover The Royal Barbershop while we're visiting Fredericton, and even more excited by the friendly people and extremely reasonable rates. Ashley did a fabulous job on my hair - she knew how to cut through the haystack and brought out a fresh modern look. My husband had a neat, clean beard trim and hair cut and we both left the shop feeling happy. The owner Robert Reese was personable and interested in us - he has created a business built on solid customer service as well as quality cuts. No question - if we lived here, we would have standing appointments.

They seem to exclusively hire barbers who can't speak or understand the English language. Be careful and make sure your instructions are understood. Don't let them face you backwards in the chair. Face the mirror. I got a bad cut but they gave me a discount to make up for it. Also you have to use a new blade for each customer. It's not enough to simply disinfect.

Well I don’t know where to start with this barber shop! Before I started to make this shop my primary destination, I tried other shops and the experience just wasn’t as good as it is at this shop! The owner is very welcoming and his staff of barbers are the best in the city. I honestly recommend this place to anyone and everyone:) it’s just a well run business and if you were to go and get a cut, I would highly suggest asking for adrien “speedy” as he really try’s to leave you looking like a brand new person every time.

I wasn’t greeted by anyone whereas everyone older than me who walked in got a hello from the owner. I was not impressed by the fact that the owner’s initial words to me where asking my age and him referring to me as buddy based on what sweater I was wearing. Definitely could’ve asked my age differently when it was known I wanted a drink. Next the haircut was given to me while facing a TV instead of a mirror. So before I had a chance to look at what was being done to my hair it was too late. Also the prices are way too inflated for the service you get. Would not recommend.

Came to this establishment after a botched haircut and they brought me right in and treated me like royalty. The man Adrian did a stellar job fixing up the mess my hair was left in and the other barbers were extremely polite and friendly. Not only did they bring me in right away but the owner waived the cost and did it for free!! Would highly recommend this place if you want to get your hair cut right - the first time!!

This beat my regular barbershop by miles!!! I got Royal treatment here compared to others. I got the cut I wanted. Barber cleaned me up great, I didn't have to worry going back to work and changing my shirt because of leftover hair. Took time to clean behind my ears, forehead and eyebrow area with a hot cloth. Used the hair-blower to clean off the cape before I stood. Only complaint, just a little more than I would be willing to pay on a regular basis.

I work every weekday at the Hyundai Dealership until 5 or 6 in the evening, sometimes even as late as 8 or 9pm, so most places are closed unless I rush on my lunch. I came here because they were actually open at a decent evening time and I ended up really liking everything about it. Decent lay out and setup, cool atmosphere, prices are great IMO and the guys that were there were super cool and nice. Very easy to get along with. Most importantly, the hair cut was great. This'll probably be the place I come to for now on.

I asked the lady for a simple clean up, it took her almost an hour and she had to get someone else to fix my hair. The haircut I got wasn’t what I asked, and I had to get all my hair cut off somewheres else because I wasn’t allowed to have that style at work. I also asked for a clean up around the beard, when it was done my beard was gone.

If you're looking for a Barbershop with a warm, inviting, professional atmosphere, then look no further. I've visited quite a few shops over the years, and find only a few come close to this one. The word "Royal" is in the name for obvious reasons. You'll barely be over the threshold when this will become quite apparent to you. Royal Barbershop sets the bar when it comes to professional barbering. It's not just about the hair and/or the beard. It's about the experience. Their highly trained, friendly, professional staff are not only up for any beard or hair style challenge you may have for them, they are more than capable of fulfilling that challenge!! They have a cozy back bar, fully stocked, with a full time bartender just waiting to make your short wait as relaxing as possible.. Accompanied with a very comfortable, sitting area. Also, offered in the greeting area, is an awesome selection and amount of hair products and accessories. I highly, highly recommend this wonderful establishment to be your next barbershop experience. First time at Royal Barbershop today and it was an amazing experience from booking the appt over the phone to walking out the door! Called to book an appt for my grand father who suffers from Alzeimers. I explained that there was a chance that once it came time to the appt my grand father may not want to go through with it. They reassured me that was not a problem and that he completely understood due to personal reasons. Upon arrival, my Grand Father was greeted by name by the owner ( I think. I feel awful for not getting his name) and I believe that help make him feel more comfortable. During the service the gentleman (again I feel awful for not catching his name too) who did the hot shave and haircut was very gentle and patient the entire time. We were told we could take pictures and they laughed along when my grampy made silly faces or jokes. As we left, they said goodbye to him again using his name. Thank you sooo much for making this an amazing experience for all of us. So heartwarming to see my grand father truly enjoy himself. He spent the entire 20 minute drive home looking at himself in the mirror and talking about how great of a job the gentleman did! Thanks a million!!! We will definitely be back!

I booked into Royal as their final appointment for the day, feeling uneasy as my experiences with all of the Barber shops around town has been less than consistently good. Because of this, I don't have a hair "guy" so my bi-annual haircut and hot shave can be stressful and I really didn't want a barber in a rush. Meeting Nick for the first time I was extremely impressed with his precision, attention to detail and expertise. Don't forget to come for coffee next saturday if you see this man!! decent prices; that's all that is good. The cut quality is really mediocre and they don't know how to do proper fades. I went there 3 times and gave each barber a chance before making the switch. I won't name to where, because the owner will probably pull the "competitor review" card to rebut my review like he did with other negative reviews. Also be careful when you go to pay; the prices may be decent but the owner is sitting there like a hungry tiger and will try to add this and that to up charge you and when you ask him he will say oops sorry...

I have been a customer with Royal for a solid five years now, allowing me to witness the ''glow-up'' that took place here. The quality of the cuts is always consistent; much to my own surprise, seeing as I never give the barber clear instructions on what it is I want. The owner is an extremely ambitious individual who follows through on his ideas. Within a relatively short time, he moved into a brand new location and added a bar with a modern looking lounge. The most recent addition is a massage room in a quiet downstairs area with a qualified MT aching to put it to good use. I'm positive that the tattoo parlour, upon opening, will match and deliver the same exceptional work that I have seen and will continue to see from Royal.

I was really debating posting this review, however, I was really appalled by the service I received from one of the barbers here. I will say there's a great atmosphere and the guy working at the front desk was very professional and friendly when I was greeted. Right from the start I could tell that the barber wasn't going to be very friendly and even came across as a little bit pretentious. I asked the barber to give me an undercut. She gave me a funny look like she didn't understand so I explained in detail exactly what I wanted. She went on by telling me that my hair was not long enough. I assured her that it was okay and she can go through with it as I have gotten this haircut many times before with the same length of hair. We went back and forth for about a minute or so like this. She started to get upset and let out a big sigh and then said to me "so you want to Mohawk?". I just smiled and said I would prefer to go somewhere else. Sure enough, the next place I went to understood what an undercut was and gave me exactly what I wanted without any debate. They offered me another barber but why the hell would I want to stay somewhere where they hired a barber that doesn't even know what an undercut is. Maybe it was just the barber that I got...

I have been to many barbershops in Fredericton and this one was by far the best one. It even has a bar! What more could this barbershop have. It has wonderful customer service and gives the best haircuts in Fredericton. I met the owner who sits at the front desk sometimes and he was the friendliest person I ever met ! I have seen very few bad comments and after reading them I am completely surprised that some people think they give bad hair cuts or have bad customer service. I would definitely recommend this barbershop to anyone.

Terrible. I will never be back. I've been there 3 times and every time I've gone there the service gets worse. If its not the long wait times, its the terrible barbers and their lack of attention to detail. To the female barber in the corner; Your attitude has to be the worst attitude i've ever come across and you CANT cut hair. I wouldn't recommend telling your client that his hair is too hard to cut and they should just wear a hat after you just hacked their hair! I was better off trying to cut my own hair blind folded, because I now have to pay more money and go to another barber to fix the mess you caused

First time there was today, awesome atmosphere. Had a hot shave, haircut and beard trim. Barber was awesome, really knows what he's doing. I already have at least 6 people from work heading down this week!! Three years ago I left this review and I'm just leaving the barbershop now. This is still the only place that gets it done, with great atmosphere, professionalism and the best barbers around. If you need a cut, a shave or a drink at the Speakeasy, this is the place to go. I now bring both my boys here as well and they love it.

First off I never usually never leave reviews unless exceptional service or terrible. This leaves me writing a bad review. I went into Royal Barber to get my beard cleaned up some as I’m growing it and wanted it to be maintained during the growing phase. I explained to barber that I wanted my neck shaved with straight blade and that I was growing my beard out so just clean it up. First thing clipper came out and he cut off about 3inches off on one side, there was nothing I could do at this point as the whole beard would of been uneven so let him finish. This doesn’t please me as we all know growing a beard takes time, it grows about 1/2inch a month and taking 3 inches off is 4-6months of growing time to get back to the point I was. This is the reason I am taking the time to write this review as I would recommend another location to anyone who is serious about growing their beards as this can obstruct your growing goals. In addition to that, the low lighting condition makes things hard for barber to see what he’s doing the finishing touches aren’t great either. When I got home I examined my “freshly” trimmed beard and had to cut a couple long strangely uneven hairs. This should be the last thing needed to do after getting pay for professional service.

Fit for a King, walked in without an appointment for a hair / beard trim, and was greeted and treated like family, had to wait but was offered beverage, an excellent cup of coffee, but could have chosen whatever was in the bar, comfortable seats, a men paradise, once greeted by Dylan, like Bob Dylan says he, right away a connection, I told him do your magic, as I had only experienced a barber once before, well he did his magic, caring about his craft, studied for it, you feel he totally love his profession. The inside is what you see in some old movies, chairs, pictures, feeling. I walked out feeling like a king. Highly recommend as I will return.

I dont usually put a review unless its super terrible. I went to baber and i got kim jung eun hair cut and i asked for something nice that will fit me like formad or top up side cut short. And i didnt really look through my hair because i was with my gf and was my bday so was in hurry. It looked fine for 20 min because of alot of hair products that some how hold my hair in good ways and after that my parents asked if im going for costume play to act as a kim jung eun ????????????

Unfortunately, I am pretty disappointed, I asked for a high skin fade from a zero to blend into the top and not take to much off the top. well too much was taken off the top and about a quarter of my fringe is missing, it isn't blended well at all and just goes all the way around my head. the only reason I didn't say anything is I just couldn't I always feel bad saying something and honestly to much is off now to do anything about it. I also had an eyebrow appointment but that wasn't done, I didn't want to say anything either well I was just so disappointed I wanted to leave. the receptionist was friendly when I arrived, but I think the barber didn't know what I wanted and just cut without fully knowing or asking what I wanted.

I hadn't gotten a proper haircut in years. So, my hair and beard were a mess when I went in there. At first, I was a little nervous as I didn't want my beard messed up. However, I was able to quickly relax. Lawrence was very accommodating and professional. He gave me some great advice on maintaining my beard and did an excellent job trimming it. For the “Royal treatment” this is the place to go for men’s grooming. Only place in town with the cojones to still give a proper hot shave. Not only do they do a decent job, you actually FEEL better too. Ohhh yeeeeah... and I smell like a proper Uncle.

I regret my first post. The service was friendly and professional and definitly did not deserve a 1 star. I take alot of pride in my beard and was/am frustrated with how much was taken off but maybe i could have explained it better when describing what I was there for. The atmosphere in the shop was quiet, friendly and very comfortable. Evrything was great during the visit and haircut was great too. I am just disappointed in the outcome of the beardtrim.
