Usually I cut my boyfriend's hair and beard myself but this time I really needed a break and some help from a professional. This was the second time I managed to convince him to go (the first time he said the barber was very rude so it took some coaxing). First five minutes the barber told him he knew nothing about hairstyles when he tried to tell him what he wanted so my boyfriend sat in uncomfortable silence for 30 minutes while the barber completely botched it. When asked if he could trim the beard the barber refused to listen and just gave an uneven buss along the sides. Long story short I spent an hour fixing the damage myself and was charged 60$ for it. You want something done right just do it yourself.

First time I walked into Victory Barber and Brand I was taken back to a time my grandfather perhaps went to get his hair cut and beard trimmed. I got my first straight razor shave by none other than Matty Conrad and it was an experience let me tell you. Highly recommend Victory if you're looking to for more than just a haircut, shave or trim. Great conversations, amazing barbers and staff alike as well as products that a man can use. I should put out there that I started using the Victory brand wash that was recently released and I'm not kidding when I truly believe it is helping my beard grow and is looking more lush than ever. Pair that with some beard oil and wow, beard is looking good.

As an advertising company, they give you the best haircut than any other advertising companies. Could find better haircut in Victoria, and much cheaper. They just basically don't fully understand what you want then cut your hair super fast. Maybe he just want to have a smoke outside... Talked my hubby into trying Victory a year ago....took me another year to convince him to try and get over the first dreadful haircut and try again. Ya, no 3rd chance guys, two strikes and you are out. No Victory here...if your hair requires some actual thought, not just clippers and buzzing, forget it. Neither guy listened, and my man's nice long hair that he specifically said no more than a 1'4' inch off the back, is now almost 2 inches shorter. He has wings that with a little effort, he could fly. Cool atmosphere, but that is it. Back to the drawing board. Why is this so hard??

I’ve always been the type of guy to stick with a single hair-dresser. Aside from having someone who knows exactly what you want, there’s the benefit of being able to pick up a conversation exactly where it left off three weeks ago. Before Victory opened, I had a strong relationship with a Victoria stylist who cut my hair for years. I deviated from time to time when scheduling conflicts or work (I’ve spent the last few years writing about men’s style) required it. I’ve had the luxury of sampling a lot of what Victoria has to offer and found something that worked for me. I was content with my status quo. One side-effect of working close to men’s style is that you become jaded toward trends. You develop a good eye for spotting absences of authenticity. I’ve always been quite liberal in calling brands on their bullshit. After interviewing Victory owner, Mathew Conrad, for a story I was convinced enough to give his trendy shop a try. I had a great conversation, got one of the best cuts I've had, and was back again the following month. Since then I’ve grown incredibly fond Victory and its staff—including Paul, the aforementioned bald barber (introductions help when trying to hold a conversation during your cut, Mr. Drohan!) I still try to stick to a single barber, but these days I’m a Victory man.

I think that Victory Barbers is the best place in town for mens hair cuts. Victory Barbers reminds me of Barbers shops in the 1980's and 1970's that really were train well in giving men a haircut and shave. They have really good staff and give really good service! There is one guy in there by the name of Paul which does a great haircut and shave. Paul went to Barbering school and was trained well in Barbering.

So i randomly decided to get my haircut here while i was in town visiting family. I had no real preconceived notions about it. Sit down and my barber looks like he hasnt had a haircut in years. Hes sporting an obnoxiously large, over the top man bun. He asks me what id like. I say to just tidy up my fade. He frowns, "maybe you should just grow it out a bit more and tie it up in a top knot". I refuse, and the resulting haircut was mediocre

Finding a good hair stylist in your home town can be tricky, but finding one while on vacation is nearly impossible. Fortunately, I stumbled upon some positive reviews for Victory online, and took a chance. They didn't disappoint. Crystal was very professional -- asking questions before starting, and pointing out things to consider along the way. She used a variety of tools (clippers, scissors and a straight blade), with excellent results. She even gave us some cycling route suggestions and introduced my wife to "Pierre" -- her French Bull Terrier! In the end, both my cut and my impression of this place were excellent. Will definitely look them up the next time we're in town!

Like getting a haircut from a bored French waiter. Stared at me until I described what I wanted, turned the chair away from the mirror so I couldn't see the cut happening, I asked for suggestions twice and received shrugs in response. Said I wanted to take a look at my head, was told I could look after my wash... I go to barbers so I'm not fussed over but being treated like I showed up to a party two hours early was a first. The cut was acceptable.

Had my hair completely destroyed by a hairdresser I had gone to the previous day at a different salon and came to them the day after to see if they could fix it or at least just make it look a bit better. Victory Barbers is my favourite barber shop in town thanks to Adam O'Callaghan. Adam is not only an exceptional barber, kind person, and friendly guy, he's deliberate with each cut he makes. Adam makes my hair easy to maintain and gives me the confidence that even if I don't do my hair every morning, it'll still look great. While Adam has a higher rate than I'm used to. Very unprofessional establishment... my partner and his friend had an appointment booked for 11am and when they got there (on time) they told them they were booked for 10am. When they checked the confirmation email it was in fact for 11am and they would not even try to fit them in at all. Did not even seem sorry, they just said they stated they were fully booked up. So unprofessional to double book and then not even try to rectify their own mistake. The appointment was made for a pre-wedding man-date so disappointing to say the very least. Will never recommend this place to anyone.

When I first moved to Victoria I was worried about finding a good quality barbershop to get my hair cut and also a straight edge shave. I saw their add in a Rifflandia magazine a few years ago and since then I have gone nowhere since. I always get a "damn fine" haircut and sometimes to treat myself a nice straight edge shave. Me and my son are in regularly to see David for our haircuts. He's great at his job , we always leave with an awesome fresh cut! A great vibe in the shop and everyone is very pleasant. My son actually was always scared to get his hair cut, we tried lots of places, had to even leave with hair partially done. Once I took him in to see David for a cut, we have no problem since! He is always looking forward to his haircut appointments now!

This is a really cool place. With a really cool decor and really cool hipster hair dressers. I went in to get a hair cut and beard trim. I was told that I was getting my beard trimmed and hair cut by one of their best cutters. Long story short. My cutter was bald. I don't really trust a bald person to cut hair but gave it a go anyway. He did a "Super Cuts" type of job on my hair and didn't know how to trim my beard properly. So he didn't charge for the beard trim. Even still, their prices are outrageous for the job that they actually do. You'd be better off going to First Choice or Super Cuts. I don't mind paying over 40 dollars for a hair cut, if they do an excellent job, but they didn't.

First time here. I walked in and had Joy as my barber. Joy didn't cut any corners and was extremely detail orientated. I'm very happy with my haircut which is saying something because I'm hard to please. The atmosphere is amazing. The owner makes you feel at home. He personally came over to me to shake my hand knowing this was my first time. I HIGHLY recommend Status Barber to anyone. I'll be back.

Was in this morning for a cut and a shave.The cut was fantastic,the shave left a lot to be desired. Three hours later my face is suggesting that I forgot to shave this morning. I don't exactly have a lumberjack beard. I hate to say it but I get a closer shave with my mug,soap and my dollar shave club razor. Yes, it's a lovely experience full of ritual, lotions and hot towels, but $80 and a good tip later I feel like this was an experience that I won't repeat.Sorry guys.

I decided to give the shop a try as it is located a convenient block away from my office. The space has a strong, albeit over the top, focus on its decor. At the end of the day, I could care less about the store design, as long as the service I am paying for is worthwhile. My first experience was average. The barber seemed far more interested in joking around with his co-workers than acknowledging my attempts for small talk. I'm not demanding that my barber be interested listening to my every word, but having the customer service skills to carry on a casual conversation certainly could not hurt. My haircut was mediocre, but far off the mark for its nearly $40 price tag. Against my better judgement I decided to come back and try another barber to see if the experience could be redeemed. It was a disaster. The barber mumbled a hello, which was about the extent of his interaction during the cut. I attempted to strike up a conversation which was ignored, along with my instructions/expectations as to how I wanted my hair cut. Instead my chair was turned around away from the mirror as he attempted to complete my cut as quickly as possible. My hair came out looking nearly exactly like his own and nothing like what I wanted. That said, its mainly my own fault for not learning my lesson the first time through. If you are looking for a ordinary haircut, don't care much about customer service, are alright with the shop's premium price and don't mind being having your haircut style forced upon you, then this is the place for you. However, I would strongly urge you to learn from my mistakes and spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere. For a place that prides itself on offering a superior experience in comparison to a standard barbershop I certainly did not notice anything noteworthy other than in my wallet. Just because you are paying for a premium product does not mean you get what you pay for here.

There are many places for guys to get their haircut in Victoria, but there is NOTHING comparable to Victory Barber & Brand. The first time I walked into the new shop, I was completely blown away. The service, quality of products, and the talent of the team speak for themselves. I loved my new look haircut! I walk by this place every day from work, and always felt the place looked quite boutique and has a "classic" look. The place and the people have an identify here, and it shows in the service and haircuts. I was apprehensive at first, but I got my best-ever look here! Thanks guys! Of course, at $35 it is the costliest hair cut I ever had, but it felt it. I want to make a special call out for their men's shaving products.
