The cabinet salon is hands down my favourite hair salon in Toronto. Ever since my friend told me about this salon, I gave it a shot, booked my haircut with Emma back in 2015 and I've been going back ever since :) The salon is so clean, bright and welcoming - Emma always does the best job with every hair cut and understands what I want. 10/10!

I needed a massive cut post covid.....a good 8 to 10 inches off! Amy did a great job, and I have thick hair (and a lot of it) it was super safe feeling and the online booking is a breeze. Best part? Gender neutral by the hour/half hour pricing with gratuity in. No more sticker shock and surprised. I'm beyond thrilled with my restored look. Photo taken outside, mask protocols were followed for the whole service.

When I go to places like that, I wonder why they bother having receptionists like Brid and Shadi, two of the rudest persons I've ever met. When I arrived for my appointment Brid told me that I was late and because of that my appointment was canceled. Just like that. I showed her the card they gave me when I booked with the time and, because I was right, she said that it was fine, they would fix their schedule for me! She didn't apologize. I didn't like it at all, having 3 people looking mad at me for something I didn't do. I find people incapable to admit their own mistakes very weak, no professional at all. A simple I am genuinely sorry helps, it changes everything. A big ego increases the demage...anyway, I needed to have my hair done, so...My hairstylist was good but she ruined my $400 dress with hair colour, so I don't feel comfortable giving her 5 stars, no way...and lets finish with Shadi. She basically gave me the bill and didn't say a word, no bye, no have a good day, nothing..I asked for my coat, she didn't even answer me. When I get a service I am looking for quality for sure, but I need to see that people care about what they are doing, that I am a valuable customer for real, I am not there just to help paying the bills. This is very upsetting, won't go there again and I'll make sure to spread the word. Don't bother writing that I can email you to discuss the issues. You have my number and everything you need to apologize. We all know that this is what really matters, no some random world to make you look better.

I can’t say enough good things about this salon. I had started coming here because my stylist had moved here from another salon a few years ago. She has since stopped styling hair but I still go here because I always get quality service, an excellent hair cut/colour/style, and I always have a great experience. I have never had to wait for my appointment, my stylish has always been on time. The salon has a great aesthetic and is very clean and professional. If you are in the market for a new salon I highly recommend stopping by!

Alex has been my go to main man for hair for many years. No one can compare to his skills - he does blonde all over balayage on my long thick hair and I get a lot of compliments on my colour and cut. Not only is the end product colour amazing but he’s able to achieve great results in less time than other stylists and my hair feels healthier than it’s ever been despite the lightening. He’s kind and a good listener and it’s just relaxing hanging out with him, I always look forward to my appointments. He’s worth every cent of his rates and I can’t recommend him enough.

I have been getting my blonde highlights done by Meladee for a few years now and have followed her to her recent start at the Cabinet Salon. She always does an excellent job with the highlights where it even manages to look good once my hair starts to grow out. One of the other reasons I go to see her is her relaxed, semi-chatty vibe. She is both easy to chat with when you're in the mood, great with conversation and also allows for quiet moments. It provides that perfect balance! She also educates on the benefits of any treatments and never tries to push for them. My first visit at this salon was great and I found all of the staff very polite and friendly. Gosia, cut my hair which was desperately needed and she was very pleasant and did a super great job. The environment was kept very clean and sanitized with masks worn at all times. They take the time for this and are not rushing onto the next client. I would highly recommend you consider Meladee for any colour, colour correcting, highlights and blonde needs, as she is proven excellent!

I always knew he was essential in my life but I never had to confront how critical he was until he was taken away from me in COVID! keep forgetting to write this but this is the worst salon I've ever been to. basically left with completely damaged hair. the hair stylist matthew kept leaving during my appointment and left me with bleach on my hair. it started to burn and by the time he got back it was already ruined. you can literally go ANYWHERE else- don't bother with this place it's not worth the risk.

Beware: with the new hourly prices you trim can come to $150! My hair stylist was late (first time the appointment was moved to 15 mins, then I waited for another 10), no apology was provided, and the price for a dry hair cut (washed before, but cut on dry) came to $150. None will tell you about the new hourly pricing unless you look it up on the website prior (I was booking on the phone).

Finding a new(great) hair stylist/salon is more difficult than finding a new doctor. I feel like I won the lottery. This place is classy but so cozy at the same time, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Renae cut, coloured and styled my good friends hair and when I saw the results my jaw dropped and I immediately made myself an appointment with her. Needless to say I spent the next 3 days after my appointment staring at myself in the mirror (true story).

The other thing i absolutely love about this salon is their presence in the community and sustainability efforts. They donate a percentage of their sales to charities, they have robust recycling and 'green' programs, and they consciously sell products that are environmentally and socially responsible! Progressive cuts if you want to take a risk, but I've also seen them take great care with long lovely locks. I have gotten my hair cut, colour and styled here for the past 6-7 years. It can be a bit expensive but the results are worth it and any friend I've recommended to the salon has enjoyed the experience. The salon calm, and inviting, display and rotates local artwork in the space. It's easy to book an appointment via email/phone. They are accommodating and have great customer service, making sure that you're happy with the result. They are experienced and knowledgable, and will make sure any image you bring in for reference of what you want is adapted to suit you.

Before I found The Cabinet Salon, I bounced from stylist to stylist. My hair is long and...plentiful (or, as one stylist put it: "There's so much hair! I'm going to have to charge you extra"). I was desperately searching for a stylist who not only knew how to work with my hair, but was able to cut in a way that would fall naturally and gracefully without daily blow-outs and styling. I also wanted a stylist who would *listen* as I was tired of "trims" that left me with 6" of missing hair. I found the perfect stylist in Alex from The Cabinet Salon. Alex is an exceptional stylist; not only does he check all the above boxes, but he truly is an artist when it comes to cutting and styling hair. He is able to masterfully work with different types of hair and maintenance preferences, and is also an exceptional listener, which is a rare combination. I have loved every hair cut Alex has given me and have never had more confidence than I do with a haircut from Alex. His haircuts also last forever! I haven't had a hair cut in 8 months (you know, COVID...) and my haircut still gets regular compliments. Going to The Cabinet Salon is an experience in itself. For starters, the building itself is a gorgeous, historical brick with tall ceilings and large, bright windows. The location is trendy and the street can be viewed while you're getting your haircut, providing lovely sightlines. The staff are exceptionally kind, attentive, down to earth and always laughing -- it really is a joy to step into The Cabinet. Later in the day, The Cabinet also provides complimentary wine, which is just so unbelievably cool and relaxing after a long day. I love The Cabinet Salon. Whenever haircuts are allowed again, do yourself a favour and book an appointment at The Cabinet--you will be hooked for life.

My colourist Meladee, (she is an amazing woman, so if you’re looking to get your hair coloured, Meladee is the best) moved to The Cabinet recently, and I must say my first time experience was wonderful. The salon itself is very clean; and in light of the pandemic it was very reassuring. Everyone is wearing masks properly, there are fresh robes for every customer, hand sanitizers at every station and there is even alcohol to sanitize your phone which all made me feel very comfortable during my service. The staff all seemed very friendly, and everyone was professional. The price is also very reasonable as well, and there is no gendered pricing either which is fantastic. I highly recommend visiting The Cabinet!!!!

I've been getting my hair cut by Alex at Cabinet for years now. Great online booking system makes it a breeze to schedule. Staff are always kind and efficient, and I love the little touch of having freshly brewed tea to sip on while I wait! It's a great atmosphere, and it makes the whole experience of getting my hair cut (normally a chore) feel like a treat. I've also been thrilled with the styling and advice Alex has offered. I always feel like I leave with a cut better than what I had imagined. I visited during summer 2020 (when salons were open), and the health and safety precautions taken by the team at The Cabinet Salon were better than my dentist's office. The team went above and beyond to ensure social distancing practices, sanitation, and contact tracing methods were being followed. I felt extremely safe - and I can't wait for the salon to be allowed to re-open again.

I can honestly say this is the first place I've actually looked forward to the experience of a haircut. Not only do I now get the best haircuts EVER from Emma, but I actually look forward to going. I totally trust Emma. She is an expert at what she does and brings more than technical skills to the job. She has great ideas but never pushes them. You can be sure she will listen to you. I also felt completely safe getting a haircut during the pandemic during the time the salon was allowed to open. The COVID protocols were obviously strict and strictly observed. The salon also has excellent products. It's good to ask about what would be a good product for you; there is no upselling in this place. I have had two awesome cuts at the Cabinet Salon, one with Emma and one with Cheri, the salon is very relaxed and chill and it is a pleasure to be there. The reason I have taken one star away, and the reason I don't really think I will go back, is that I was not at all happy with the colour I had done with Cheri in May of this year. The colour looked beautiful when it was done, no mistake about that but within a week I could see a lot of grey hair throughout my hair , and not just where new hair had grown at the roots and temple, but strands of it throughout the length of my hair. I was skeptical at the length of time the colour was left on my hair (35 minutes) but it has been a while since i had colour done at a salon and Cheri is a professional, so I didn't question it. In the past I have never had an issue with my grey hair showing through after having my colour done professionally or even when I do it myself at home. Now perhaps I should have had a consultation prior to this as I have never seen her before and she could not have known the amount of grey that I have in my hair, but at the same time I feel that she could have perhaps told me that there was not enough time for the colour to be done that day. It's too bad because I really loved the cut she did for me.

The Cabinet is a lovely, laid back and stylish spot for all things hairstyling. I’ve been seeing Alex for over 12 years and he is excellent. We’ve been from pixie, to bob, to long hair and back again. Colour services are exquisite: balayage, highlights or all over. On the rare occasion that I haven’t been 100% thrilled, Alex makes it right with a re-booking. One thing I love is how the stylists never try and upsell, but they do stock nice products if you want to purchase. Through the pandemic they have taken every precaution to keep everyone safe, and they are constantly bettering themselves through training and eco initiatives. When they reopen, treat yourself to Cabinet!

The worst customer service ever. I cannot even give a feedback for the service as I didn't have the chance of using it. I've scheduled an appointment more than one week before and it would be my first time in there. The Salon is ONE hour trip from my home, I just booked because my friend referred the professional, Renee, to me. When I arrived the receptionist said that there wasn't any appointment scheduled for me and that it "should" be her mistake, as last week their system went down and she was scheduling everyone just taking notes by hand. The only thing that I could hope for, especially because I explained to her that I was planning to cut my hair to my vacation trip the next day (!!), was anything for any time the same day, but she even didn't try it!! Just said "my apologies, it was my mistake, but we have to schedule another day"!! I've just lost 2 hours of my life, and money, going there for nothing. The most inconsiderate professionals EVER. Totally disappointed.

The Cabinet is a unique hair salon. Warm, friendly and very professional. Emma listens to your ideas and tells you honestly whether it will work for you. She is the best colourist ever. How I have missed getting those shiny bouncy blowdries over the last 5 months.

Matthew is amazing! I went for a haricut with very long hair and wanted to keep my length and yet feel different. I have tried several hairstylist in Toronto and I'm always given the same haircut for long hair. But Matthew is a hair wizard. My hair look and feel amazing - this is my best haircut so far. I read all the great reviews and was really looking forward to getting my highlights done. Upon arrival they told me I was only booked for one hour and that’s not enough time (I agree!). To sum up, you guys have poor scheduling skills, I have been on the phone with you 2 times prior to coming in, I confirmed my hair length and that I am looking to get highlights. Also no one asked me if I would like to reschedule in the end.. I did end up getting a haircut instead and it turned out great, thank you! The overall impression is not so good, not sure I would recommend

I've been going to Alex at The Cabinet Salon for almost 10 years now (which is hard to believe - time flies!) and he's hands down the best stylist I've ever gone to. Technically, he's amazing, and he really listens to what you want and will help you find the right style of you're looking for something new. I've had so many compliments over the years and inquiries as to who I go to. Beyond Alex, visiting the salon is a total pleasure. It's definitely something I circle on the calendar, and something I've sorely missed over these past months. Everyone who works there is so friendly, I know when I come for my appointment that I'm going to have the most relaxing time, along with some great conversation (not to mention leaving with great hair!) I can't wait to go back once they can reopen!

Decided to visit this salon instead of my usual as I was looking for a place within walking distance due to COVID. Booked online for a root bleach & tone five weeks in advance for August 1. Received phone call two weeks later to inform me that the salon is not actually open August 1, and requested I reschedule for one week later and one hour earlier. I understand mistakes can happen with online booking systems, but I would have appreciated if they caught this error sooner. Arrived on time and ended up waiting 40 minutes for my colourist to show up. Was not offered water/coffee/anything, and I was getting ready to leave. Was at the salon for almost FIVE HOURS total. Since they charge colour by the hour, I ended up paying more than double what I was expecting for six weeks' worth of regrowth. I'm happy with my colour now, but I will definitely not return or recommend Cabinet to anyone.

I get stopped on the street with questions about who does my hair all the time and tbh it's no surprise why. Monique is a great stylist and would absolutely recommend. I've been getting my hair cut by her at another salon for a couple of years and started coming to Cabinet Salon when she started there. I have recently started colour my hair as well and she has gotten me to the blonde dreams that I always wanted (naturally a dark brunette). I generally will give her a vague idea of what I'm looking for and she's really good at making sure that I get what I want but also something that looks good with my hair type (fine and straight). My partner has also visited Monique a couple of times and she's done a great job on his very curly hair. On COVID and the salon's set up - I felt very comfortable. There's more than enough space between stations and salon is doing a great job making sure everyone is wearing masks, things are sanitized and the proper social distance is in place. If you're getting colour, I'd recommend designating one of your masks as the one you use as you're likely to get product on it. I removed the ear straps when colour was being applied to that area (while still holding the mask against my face) and then put back on, so its a bit messy but not really much of a hassle. They also sell face masks if you want to go that route.

The salon is so clean and bright, and they have taken every precaution to ensure that both clients and staff are safe and comfortable during these weird times. I was worried about how I would feel wearing a mask for several hours for my appointment with Meladee, but the time just flew by as it always does when I am in her chair. She is incredibly knowledgeable and talented. Even in my 50s (gulp) , I have never had more compliments about my hair as I have since having the good fortune to meet Meladee. Whether you want to go in a whole new direction, or just a much needed pick me up, I highly recommend this very talented, lovely human being!

The Cabinet Salon is a wonderful salon. The setting is amazing and so relaxing! Soft music, herbal tea and peace and quiet. I am one of these people who does not feel the need to talk constantly while getting my haircut. The stylists chairs are not side by side like a factory setting so you do not have to hear every other clients conversations. Alex cuts my hair. He takes his time and never rushes me. He listens intently as I describe what I want. He pauses while cutting to ask if it looks okay so far! I really appreciate his attention to detail. I travel 45 minutes to get there. But it is worth the trip every time!
