My 14 month old son was supposed to have his first haircut today. We were turned away because he is unable to wear a mask. This is NOT a provincial health mandate where only children under two years old are not required to wear masks. No INFORMATION in their website, in the confirmation email. NOTHING. We just know about it when we waste our time going there to be turned away. I used to take my 11y old son but I'll never do it again. This is my first with a business that has turned away a child for not being able to wear a mask. I'm taking my son for his first haircut to another place where he will be accepted.

We have been many times and usually the staff is great. They do a nice job but I think $35 for a kids cut is too much. My daughter didn't even get a wash, they just combed and cut. I think I will be looking for somewhere else. Kids are old enough sitting for the cut isn't an issue.

This place is great for kids with plenty of fun stuff to distract them while getting their hair cut. The stylists are all great with kids and interact with them a lot while cutting their hair. After the kids get their hair cut they are treated with either painted nails or a tattoo, and then get to take home a balloon.

Kristen is wonderful. She is kind and patient, Kristen made sure we were happy with the legnth and had no problem cutting it shorter to make sure we were happy. My son looks forward to haircuts and a special tattoo and balloon. Will 100% reccomend.

Friendly staff, clean place. They have everything to distract your kid while they do haircut (cartoons, toys, fancy car high seats). Stacey is amazing! Good cuts and great with kids!

This place is designed to make haircuts a fun experience for the kids. My oldest was able to play video games, while my younger kids get to sit in a fun car and watch a show or play with some toys. The staff work well with the kids and manage to get nice looking cuts despite their wiggling. I've taken the kids here for a few years now and have been happy each time.

Cars for the younger kids to sit in, where they could watch tv (I'm thinking it was Netflix). Video Games for the older kids (PlayStation). My son had a temporary tattoo after his cut, and they had nail polish for the girls. Would give it 5 stars, but I felt the price for the cut was a bit high, considering I pay less for my own at a classically trained barber, which includes a shampoo, while this did not.

We were 15 minutes late for our 2 year old sons hair appointment. We called ahead of time and the lady was very rude saying if we were not there in 7 minutes they would not be able to take us in.We traveled from out of the city to get my son his first hair cut and he was extremely happy to get one. Our appointment was for 12pm and we arrived at 12:15pm, went to the door to get denied. The lady was rude and unprofessional.

We were 5 mins late due to traffic so our appointment was cut (it took is 30 minutes to get here). So we rebooked and unfortunately our sons hair was cut too short.

I had originally called them cause I tried cutting my toddlers hair myself. That was a mistake. They immediately had a appointment for him open. Offers free lollipops and a ballon for every visit. Very friendly staff. The hairstylist knew what I wanted without even saying it. And it's cheaper than the other places that cut kids hair. It's 26.00 I believe.

It was my sons first hair cut. He is year and a half. I thought for sure he was going to have a meltdown. It never happened. The girl was calm. Only time my son did not like her was when she pretend to use clippers at the end. He was having none of it. haha. We will be back!

We came here only for a trim for my three year old. She cut his hair waaay too short even though i made myself clear that i just wanted her to cut a little with scissors... She told me she'd use the machine it's faster that way..so i trusted her, to find out 2 mins later that my son's hair was waaay too short. Also they require three year olds to wear masks...Other places they never require a three year old to wear a mask It was my first and last visit. Just soo disappointing

My son (3) hates to have his hair cut or wet. The women at Sharkey's are amazing at making him feel comfortable and at ease every step of the way. A Spiderman tattoo after the cut never hurts either

Stacey has been cutting our son's hair for a couple years now and she does an amazing job. This place is completely set up for kids with TVs, video games, toys, etc. The chairs are little cars for the kids to sit in, which is awesome. Great place!

I've taken my son here for all his haircuts. They offer a cute first haircut package, with before and after pics, lock of hair and certificate. The place offers lots to distract toddlers during haircuts. Cool vechicles to sit in, toys and a TV in front with Netflix. The older kids and even parents can go too and play video games during their cuts. Your kid gets a tattoo, balloon, lollipop afterwards and their are some toys to browse and buy. It is a bit of a drive for us but worth the experience. Staff has always been patient and friendly to my son.

Horrible and worst place to go for kids haircut. I have called earlier to book an appointment and one of their staff told time is 1.45pm and actually when i went there at 1.46pm panjabi lady who works there said your appointment was on 1.40pm i cant take it now. Saying that We have 7 minutes late policy. They never told their late policy when i booked an appointment Which is ridiculous. My son he is 3 year old he cried a lot because he didn't get done his haircut. This saloon staff and owner Angela dont care about their loyal customers. I would say never go there for haircut . Also everytime when customers go there they never accept them on a time even if you have an appointment. I had to waited 25min even though i booked an appointment which is ridiculous. And if we are late for 5 min then they will say i cant take as you are late now. What kind of policy and service is this.

Demands that my 1 year old wears a mask while he's getting his haircut. If this were remotely possible for a 1 year old, masks are no longer required in Manitoba. We went to hair doo zoo, much more understanding.

They do good haircuts, but the booking system is terrible. Three times now we’ve used the website to book, had an email confirming a time, and showed up and they don’t have it in their computer system and can’t fit us in. Any parent who has bundled up kids in a Winnipeg winter to go to an appointment can appreciate how frustrating this is. We’ll be finding a new place.

DO NOT BOOK ONLINE!!!!! brought my son for a haircut we booked online (done this many times before) get there and told they have no record and the system glitches all the time. THAN WHY HAVE IT??? waste of time and they refused to take him offering an appointment three weeks from now. Unacceptable, terrible customer service with no note anywhere online that states they are having booking issues. Will not be bringing either child back at any time!!!!

The experience here was none other than horrible. They require a child under 2 to wear a mask which is impossible and most likely lose lots of business. I myself and others who have went to Snarkies did not enjoy there experience and the requirement is ridiculous for who should all be fully vaxxed employees. Yet they are afraid still and will not take business for little ones unless these children wear masks. I saw 6 employees standing around each other without masks and doing nothing but chatting, so I wonder why the need to refuse children with masks if there own employees do not follow any mandates and wear masks. The employees were rude and unprofessional. This was going to be my child's first haircut which I am ever relieved it did not happen at Snarkies and went to Hair Do Zoo who were above Snarkies in every way possible. Also it is bad enough kids have more devices in there lives in general so why not sit the child in front of a TV to play a video game. How is this beneficial except for the hairdresser. However all said and done please choose a place where the service and professionalism is worth the money.

Stupid me booked my 1 year old not realizing salon is only booking 2 years old and up unless you make your kids wear a mask (which is obviously impossible for a 1 year old to do). They should just do phone appointments instead of ONLINE booking for now. So disappointed.

We took 20 month old son here yesterday for his first haircut. We were turned away because he was unable to wear a mask. Upon reading reviews I was shocked to learn this was not an isolated event. Last I read the provincial health mandate states that children under two years old are not required to wear masks. This is a business practice/rule mandated by the business owner. In my opinion this is discrimination against children that are physically and developmentally incapable of wearing masks. Pre-pandemic this was a business that catered to children of all ages. This is my first experience, during this pandemic, with a business that has turned away a child for not being able to wear a mask. This story has a happy ending. We went to a different business where this was not an issue and the staff went above and beyond to make our son's first haircut an enjoyable one. We would also like to point out that one staff member at the front desk handled the situation well. We recognize that this was not her decision.

While the place has great entertainment for kids, I expected more experience in cutting hair for toddlers, after-all it’s a “kid’s specific hairSalon”. I didn’t see that in my kid’s hair as one part left longer than other and un-even haircut. Yes, toddler will move while doing their hair (they are kids) and that’s why you go for kids hair salon and pay extra for experienced hairstylists. I won’t come again, and I will try other salon experienced in toddler haircut. Staff were friendly, place was decent. If you have older kids who are older than 2, then this place will be good for you.

This place is great. My 2 year old has only had one haircut and it went horribly, so we thought we'd try Sharkey's. The stylist was very patient and very good with him, but he still wouldn't sit still enough for a haircut. She was very understanding about it. They have tvs and cars for chairs and several other features that are good for kids. Next time we're ready to try a haircut we'll be going here again.

We’ve been a few times now with all three of our kids, aged two, four and six. To say we invade the place is an understatement lol Haven’t always had the same stylist but they’re all very patient and playful with our kids and their varied needs. Our six year old also loves the extra attention, going full out with hair sparkles, curls and a mini manicure. For all the extra attention to detail and amazing customer service, we highly recommend them!

This place cancelled my son's hair appointment twice in a row! Both times calling us the same day to cancel. Lady on the phone told me that certain stylist (who I didn't request but just got assigned to) calls in sick often. That isn't my problem and someone else could have perhaps been bumped since this haircut was already a reschedule. Anyway, not even wasting my time trying to book at that place again.

The lady who cut my son’s hair was absolutely the worst and I don’t think we will ever go there again. We have had great experiences with another lady, who knew how to work with my son, but the last experience with this other lady was a nightmare. She didn’t know how to calm my son and she was taking her time which caused my son to become more fussy. At one point she blamed my son for not being able to cut his hair properly. In the end my sons hair looks horrible just in time for Christmas. There are really good hair stylists at Sharkey’s who knows how to work with children but I will not take that risk again.

We have been going here for a few years and it has been great. However this last time my son got someone new and she completely destroyed his hair. It's a complete hack job. It's a basic side sweep and she cut jagged layers everywhere . It looks so horrible and now my poor 10 year old never wants to go back. He cried the whole day. Another hair dresser tried to fix it the best she could (she knew what she was doing) but it was too butchered . I'm so upset.

Few hours before the appointment they called saying it is cancelled because the person assigned to our kid called in sick. Booked another appointment on different day and again few hours before it got cancelled for the same reason. Cant believe it. 2 appointments cancelled for the same reason and just few hours before. Will never try to book an appointment again.
