Both jean and carole are top rated hairdressers! Having had hairdressers in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and New York ... 62 south is hands down my favourite! It is the ONLY hair establishment that I go out of my way to get my hair done. My son had his first haircut here and is a regular. We had to get his hair done elsewhere one day and he told me "it's not like Carole does it!" The cut is always as you requested. Always professional and on time! I leave my hair and my family's hair in the hands of 62 South! You should to!!!

Samantha always listens to my preferences and gives really great advice on styling and maintenance. She remembers what worked and didn't work for me and makes adjustments! Shes really knowledgeable and will give you options and a plan on how to achieve a desired look. She will let you know if what you have in mind isn't totally possible in one session too which is nice, she'll tell you what you're getting yourself into maintenance-wise BEFORE she does it. She knows that not all of us can spend hundreds every month and that's okay with her! She won't pressure you to get products or something you don't want. Overall, Population is really inviting and Sam is by far, my favourite hair dresser I've ever had.

Went in to go fully blonde from brown. Paid a significant amount of money, only to get blonde halfway up my hair, and have the top half a light brown. Called to come in and have it fixed, when I arrived and said what I wanted to do initially I was told that it was a completely different service from what I received. I got some of my hair lightened towards the top and had to pay an additional sum of money, yet am still disappointed with the streakiness of the hair and the fact that my hair was originally done in a way I didn’t want. Wish I had at the very least had my hair fixed for free, as it was and is still not what I wanted.

The stylists take their time to listen to what you want, offer suggestions based on their extensive knowledge, and apply their skills to deliver an amazing result every time. It's hard to find downtown quality hair care outside of downtown. In Kanata, they deliver. I recommend this salon to anyone who wants a great color and great service without having to spend your entire paycheck on it.

When I said I wanted to chop off my hair and go bleach blonde they worked with me to find the style and colour I wanted. There’s also the added bonus of being great ladies to chat with. Amazing experience with Marieah from Population Hair Salon. First time I ever went to this salon was for a missive hair style change and I couldn't be happier with the final results. Marieah does an amazing job with balayage, coloring in general, she provided options and went through each step of the process to make sure all my questions were answered and that I was comfortable with what she was doing. It's so hard to find hair dressers that actually take the time to listen to what you want. The staff at the salon are all super friendly and outgoing with customers. Went last week after letting my hair grow for 1 1/2 years. Little past my collar but not shoulder length. The person named Cindy did my hair. After a wash and massage which was ok but she never stops talking. It took her a total if 1 hour and 20 min to cut my hair. Disappointed oh yes. For 64.00 I thought it was going to be amazing. Instead it looks chopped to pieces which I could have received from First Choice from a begginer hairstylist and for alot less money. Never again will I think that you get what you pay for.

Hands down the best haircut I've ever received. Jean was incredibly detail oriented, asking questions and making recommendations that ended up with an absolutely amazing result. Though not chatty (which I actually appreciate--not being so talkative myself), he is very focused on tailoring your cut specifically to you. A friend of mine recommended Population, which I found odd considering we're both from Manotick, but now I can see why. The salon itself is clean and sharp, the staff was unbelievably welcoming, and the price is par for the course--especially considering how much was included, and how great the end result was. I am going to continue getting my hair cut here, and that should say it all considering I'll be driving around 30min to get there. I booked online to make sure I could get a spot, which is probably your best bet during busier times. Thanks again!

Great place for a haircut. I was a bit worried when I moved to Ottawa that I couldn't find an as good hair dresser but alas, I did. Jean is very talented and above all, doesn't charge nearly enough. You could go elsewhere where a bunch of "chicks" cut your hair and pay 40$ or you could come here, get a great haircut for around 20$. Looks can't replace experience and this place has a lot.

Chose this place based on their reviews, but turned out the Worst haircut and hair colour after discussing what I wanted for about 30mins. Bianca did not listen to what I was looking for. Went in as a blonde as she said my hair wasn’t blonde enough to get to where I wanted. Apparently the pictures I showed her weren’t clear enough.. after scrolling through many images. $360 later and nothing was offered to make it right. Terrible experience.

Excellent service; I'm always worried when I need a haircut in a new region because of how easy it is to butcher my hair, due to how fine it is, but Population Hair Salon did a great job for a very good price. Staff is very polite and friendly, their location is clean and well lit, and their shampoo smells amazing, too. If you're not sure where to go for a good haircut in the area, go to Population. Didn't wait at all either, very punctual.
