I am new to the area and learned of Gatsby as I drive by it daily on my way to work. I wasn't interested in driving an hour to my old salon and really hopeful that I would find one I love in the neighborhood--sadly, this isn't it. When I made my appointment, I was taken aback that they require you to put down a 50% deposit on service for new clients. It's ok with me to do it--but I just think its a bit odd--and isn't such a welcoming start to a new relationship. Upon arriving, the receptionists were rude. "what's you name?" "She's not ready, sit down." I'm not looking for a red carpet, but c'mon, a little welcoming is nice. I then proceeded to wait 43 minutes AFTER my appointment time for my stylist to be ready. Not once did the stylist, the receptionist, or anyone say a word to me. I've never had that experience--normally someone would explain she's running behind. When my stylist finally got to me, she was abrupt and short--didn't seem interested in my needs at all. Her demeanor was if she couldn't care less. She sat me down to have my hair washed--which was the best part of my experience. The shampoo girl was the only one that was polite and engaging--though, the shampoo job wasn't great as I had to ask several times for her to stop burning my head with such hot water. Once the cut was done, it was clearly un-even. My stylist was prepared to let me get up and go--and I had to say something--3 times, before the style was even remotely presentable in public. I paid, what I believe to be a reasonable price--about $30 less than what I pay at my old salon. BUT--I got what I paid for--a unwelcoming staff, a sub-par-cut, and frustration that lingered all day. Now, I'll be booking my appointment at Salon Concrete in Red Bank--well worth the drive to have a staff treat you with respect, and a cut that you'll not have to question. That's worth the extra money and a drive. Lesson learned--The Gatsby isn't worth your time or $$.

You get what you pay for.. which is excellent cut/color and customer service. Highly recommend! Shannon G is my girl and makes me feel like a rockstar. Casey had to fill in today and she did an excellent job! Can't go wrong with this place (threading, Mani/pedis, waxing, etc.. full service)

I am a man with a professional hair cut; it isn't short, but it isn't long. I went to Gatsby because I knew they were around the corner, because of the show Jerseylicious. To be honest, if I spend $52 on a haircut (not including tip), this haircut should be PERFECT! However, the stylist left my above-ear area completely uneven. On one side I had an even arch. On the other, it looked like a Gothic Cathedral's archway... I left a $0 tip and have not returned. I wish I paid this much for two bad haircuts instead of one. Sorry, Gatsby, but you aren't worth the dime (or $52) you cost... I am sorry to the owners that they don't have a good business, but they are sub-par for a $20 cut, let alone a $52 cut... Good luck in your next venture, owners...

I LOVE my stylist Raul!! I've been coming to Gatsby for years, but just recently with Raul. I cannot say enough good things! He listens to what I want (I always have pictures lol), lets me know if this is going to be a good look for me and VIOLA!!! My color is PERFECT, the cut is PERFECT, blowout PERFECT!!! I come in looking like a COVID recluse and leave looking like I'm ready for a night out! I recently opted for bangs - I was a little nervous - but they are SO CUTE!!! I get complimented on my hair all the time now! I really could not be happier! Book with Raul, I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

This is a very well managed and clean establishment. The folks here are friendly and really provide great service. The thing I like most is that everything from the flooring to the ceiling is new and well kept. I can't stand walking into a salon that looks like it's falling apart. My receptionist recommended Maria as my stylist (my first time) and she's great. I'm so happy I've found "my stylist".

Have gone to the Gatsby for what must be 10 years or more. I have long hair for a guy and am pretty particular about it. I have to go sometimes on short notice when I have an opening. So not always is my stylist in that day or available. So I've had to roll the dice on a new stylist from time to time! My usual stylist is Marzenna, who is a perfectionist and sweet and does a great job. I've also used Maria who always does a great job. Annie is also terrific. Yesterday in a pinch when all three of my stylists were off I reluctantly scheduled an appointment with Casey, who I never used before. She nailed it! Very happy! My daughters use Suzette and Ashley and their hair always looks unbelievable when they come home. Have yet to get a bad cut there and I'm very particular. Sandy at front desk is very nice and friendly as well. A+

I went to Gatsby Salon for the first time needing some life to my hair, and Gayle and her team worked their magic! There is a beautiful dressing room where I could change into a robe to protect my clothing and hang up my jacket. The team was so attentive and worked together to come up with a game plan for my highlight, color, and tone. I'm so happy with the final result and can't wait to go back!

As a guy who was in the army and has been getting his haircut how he has been told for the last few years of his life, I went to the Gatsby Salon on accident at 7pm at night. I had always wanted to style my hair some way that was more civilian like. I walked in expecting this place to be a normal hair cutting place, with the standard set up, but I walked into the Taj Mahal of hair cuttery places. They had coffee brewing and offered me bottled water with my haircut. (You know its fancy if they give you free bottled water) The girl Suzette who cut my hair was very nice, and I got put on a schedule with e-mail and text alerts to let me know when my upcoming appointment was, instead of me waiting till my hair got too long, then waiting another 4 months to get a hair cut. The only negative I could say about this place is, it's not a $10 haircut place. My cut cost $35 as a guy, which is expensive, but I would gladly pay the $25 extra for Suzette's mastery with scissors.

I showed her exactly what I wanted and she delivered! She was also just super nice in general. She made sure I was happy with how the process was going every step of the way. I’m pleased with the service I received at the salon. Their prices are also very reasonable. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future.

My experience was awful. I’m still cannot recover after my new haircut and it’s been over a month! I got a short haircut not the one that I asked for???? I won’t recommend this place and I wouldn’t come back!!! I paid around $80 for this epic fail. P.S. it was my second time there, first one was good.

Clean, great atmosphere. Everyone I delt with was friendly and they have drinks available for you. My stylist was Mario, went from pretty long hair to a pixie cut and he is great to work with. I gave a reference pic and then said 'I'm going to close my eyes and let you do your thing'. The final style was great, but I realeized after sleeping on it the top was a bit too long for me (I'm a wash-n-go person) and he was fantastic about seeing me as soon as he was available to tweak the cut, at no charge! Highly recommended ????????

Very professional, clean, superbly ran salon. I have been searching for quite a few years for a salon. I was happy when I walked into the Gatsby, the stylists were all professional (they WERE NOT chit chatting away on their phones or gossiping the day away with each other/ trying to hand you over to other stylists cause they were overbooked ) My stylist was Kristin, I had a color correction done with balayage and highlights, cut and blow. My husband says it was worth every penny. I have found my new salon :)

Went to this salon today for single process + balayage. When I made the appointment, I was asked to pay 50% of the service as I was a first time customer which I didn’t mind. I do feel like I was ripped off as I downgraded from my initial request (decided no bleach, just color) and still paid the same amount. For a salon that appears to be on the higher end, they never once offered water, coffee or tea. They knew I was pregnant and I had to ask for water. While I thought my stylist was nice, I felt like the initial consultation was rushed and I wasn’t shown the color that was supposed to be the balayage. He just said he used the lightest color and to “cross our fingers and hope it works out”. So I basically sat there for 3 hours worrying about how my hair was going to turn out. I opted for no blow dry, but every other salon will quick dry your hair to show you the color at least. My stylist only dried one tiny section at the front. When I said that I wanted to see more of the color he reluctantly dried a bit more. I also found out later the salon was on a tv show and the owner was present at the salon getting her hair done, retouched by every staff member which thought was really tacky and unprofessional. Definitely not going back.

We've been customers of this salon for over 20 years. We are treated like royalty. Al is a fantastic colorist for me and my mom. Sandy is incredibly efficient at the reception desk. Raoul does a great job on my 14 year old son - he does designs too.

I've been getting my hair colored and cut by Kacey for years and it's always come out better than I expected. Kacey is amazing. She is up to date on all the current styles and does my color perfectly every time. I highly recommend her. I also go to Krista for eye lash extensions and she also does a wonderful job. My lashes look perfect everytime and Krista really takes the time to make sure they are exactly the way I like them. I highly recommend Krista as well for lashes.

My girlfriend tried Gatsby & was overwhelmed with the quality of her haircut and the personable staff. She recommended I give it a try too. Since I've been to Gatsby, I can't see myself going anyplace else now. Julie was amazing. My haircut was fun & youthful, while still tastefully professional. Best haircut in years. Great work!
