Love Fox and Jane and LOVE Kyle! I recently moved to Toronto and hadn't touched my hair in years. I had no idea what I wanted. I usually just wear my hair up because I don't know what to do with it. Kyle asked all the right questions about my style and my daily routine during our consultation. I came away with beautiful, low maintenance highlights and a cut that looks AMAZING even with very little effort on my part - which was exactly what I needed. Cannot recommend Kyle and Fox and Jane enough!

I had a wonderful experience with Shiva today! The colour she chose for me is a perfect match, and the blow-out she did is incredible. Shiva is super sweet and easy to talk to. The salon itself is spotless - you can tell they take hygiene very seriously and I felt extremely safe. Lovely, warm environment - I've already booked my next appointment. Highly recommend!

Have been coming here since February (back when it was still Fuss) to get my haircuts with Vada and they've always been great! Even after the switch to Fox and Jane the space is still great, same friendly faces, and can't recommend this enough to trans individuals who are looking for a trans-positive salon to get a haircut in. I myself have curls (3B) and Vada does a great job at handling my never-ending volume of hair.

I moved to Toronto from the UK and since had a really hard time finding a new hairdresser, I find salons really intimidating and as an introvert, the environment can make me really anxious, which is why I had a home hairdresser in the UK (which is common there). I came to Fox and Jane after having disaster highlights done at another salon. I walked in with tears in my eyes and received the warmest welcome (who knows what they must have thought of me!) I was directed straight to their colour specialist Melissa who saw me within minutes of me being there. We booked in an appointment for the next day and she fixed everything! I was so impressed with their patience and kindness, I felt so comfortable and understood! Since then I've been back to see Melissa regularly and she always does an amazing job at understanding exactly what I want with my cut and colour. She also always has some great conversation up her sleeve, ask her about worms, I dare you.

Renee has been cutting my hair for almost a year. It has been almost 3.5 months since I had my hair cut but I have to admit that Renee gave such a great cut that even after that time, the shape was still good...just a lot longer. Renee is very professional and thorough - she takes the time to make sure that she and I are happy with the cut. Would recommend this salon any time!!

Loved getting my hair done here. The location changed but I followed my hair dresser Trish from Whitby to Toronto. It's a cozy space that is extremely clean from top to bottom (where the bathrooms are located- extremely clean!) and smells fantastic. I would follow Trish into another country just to get my hair done so that's enough of a comment on how happy I am with her style and expertise. The product line in the salon is very clean and gentle that next time I schedule a cut, I will grab some products for my hair. All in all a wonderful experience from the time I walked in and was greeted. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The services are amazing and price match the quality!! Highly recommend this downtown salon...go see Trish for a fabulous custom care cut ????

I love Fox and Jane! Been coming here for a few years now. The staff are wonderful, and the ambiance is so welcoming. Vada always does a wonderful job on my hair. They’re a total delight and their cuts make me feel so glamorous. Came in for a trim in the summer of 2020, and I felt super safe with the protocols they had in place. I’m a risk-averse person, and I’m so happy with the way they handled the safety of customers and staff. Everyone was wearing a mask (properly, too). The staff were also wearing face shields. Every surface was disinfected between clients. The salon itself was kept at a super low capacity. Only a handful of people were in there at any given time. It was a great experience, and I’ll be back as soon as they re-open!

I didn't have an appointment, but I had heard such great things about Fuss so I walked in last week. I have curly hair and find it hard to get a really great cut. The young woman at the desk said I was in luck because Renee, who does curly cuts had just had a cancellation. It was one of the best cuts I had ever had! Renee is lovely and really listened to all the things I was hoping to get from the haircut. I will certainly be back! So happy I walked in!

Melissa gave me the cut and colour of my dreams! She cut about 4.5 inches from my previous grown-out cut from the summer. She gave me beautiful warm balayage and took my inspiration photos into reality, blending a few different elements of pictures I had pinned. Melissa is always a pleasure to visit, and I am really pleased with my results! The movement and swing of this cut is so much fun. I am so in love with it all! I also felt extremely safe with all the covid safety protocols as well. Clients were checked for their proof of vaccination, screened with a health questionnaire and updated waivers to sign. I cannot recommend this salon enough. Melissa and the other Foxes really take care of their clients and you can see everyone's passion about hair.

Kristin is both fantastic as a hairstylist and also in creating a safe space for all of their clients. As a person who usually feels stressed out in going to get a haircut it is so nice to feel excited to go and get a trim. All of their pricing is by length of hair not by your gender identity and all of their staff are polite, kind, and talented. You would be missing out of you didn't go to Fox & Jane. 10/10. I saw Melissa at the salon in early July for a cut and colour. This was my first "big outing" in the world during the pandemic. I had received an email from the salon detailing all the safety measures, and also saw some posts on Instagram that Melissa shared of all the measures the salon was taking. I felt more comfortable reading all the safety measures, distancing and cleaning. Once I arrived at the salon, I had to read and sign a waiver as well as answer some questions once I got seated in the chair. This appointment was longer than my previous appointments with Melissa as I was getting colour processing done. I felt so comfortable with the plexiglass, signage, seeing staff clean their stations and just knowing that everyone was being as safe as they possibly could be. I was very happy with my cut and colour and only have good things to say about Melissa and the salon. Wonderful people, safe space and all around really great work being done here!

I don't normally write reviews but am compelled to after a) getting an absolutely amazing haircut a few days ago, and b) seeing how professionally and seriously Fox & Jane is taking safety during this time. So first, my hair. My friends have said its probably the best haircut I've ever received in that it suits my face and my hair type so well. You see, I have slightly curly/frizzy hair so its not always easy to get a cut that looks good. But Kristin is probably the best hairdresser I've been to in over a decade and a true professional who really knows hair & giving clients something that will make them look and feel great. More than that, Kristin really cares about their customers. You really know that from any conversation with her - running the salon is her passion and she takes it very seriously. But this probably has never demonstrated as clearly as its been now as they reopened for business during the coronavirus pandemic; they have really made sure to put the safety of their clients and staff first so people can comfortably work and clients can come out looking their best. What else can I say, I highly recommend Fox & Jane salon.

Added a few newer pics :-) I've seen Melissa at Fox & Jane for a couple haircuts and colour changes now and my high expectations were exceeded every time!! Also, the salon has done an incredible job adapting to the COVID environment and I felt completely safe during a long appointment this September. Melissa is an extraordinarily talented stylist who's been able to take my scattered thoughts and varied inspo pics and formulate a longterm plan for my hair. I always leave feeling incredible about my hair and confident that I'll continue to feel good as it grows out, which is no small feat!! I could say a million positive things about my experiences, but I'll just let some post-appointment pics do the talking :-) Tl;dr: Go see Melissa!!!!! You will not regret it!!

I have a review with mixed messages. While the intent of the stylist was cautious, and honest in respect to what I wanted done, the 300 dollar result was something I could've done with a 12 dollar box of bleach. The stylist, was knowledgeable, and lovely, but I am genuinely upset, and embarassed with the result, and I am extremely disappointed with Fuss. I had sent them an email a week after the hair fiasco asking for advice on how to correct this, and they have failed to respond. I guess now that the money has been spent, they wash their hands of it? Sad to see businesses run like this.

I had a haircut with the incredible Vada and I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. I've never had a stylist take so much time and care to educate me on how to deal with my curly hair. They were the first stylist to ever give me a cut so I could embrace my curls and natural texture instead of having to use heat on it everyday to 'control' it. It's been about a month since my cut and my hair is healthier than I think it's ever been and I really love my curls so much now. Besides their incredible talent, Vada is such a lovely human and made the whole experience so much better than I could have imagined. I had been on the hunt for a great stylist/colorist after the one I trusted moved out of town a few years ago. Finding someone who can do both well is very much like finding a unicorn. After a few 'not so great' colour experiences, I decided to give Fox & Jane a try. I had a lot of damage from a previous balayage, but Kyle knew exactly what to do to help me grow out my shoulder length hair and make it healthy again. My first appointment was 2 months ago where he gave me much more natural blonde highlights and a root shadow. The cut was also fantastic. Fast forward to now and the colour still looks like I just had it done. Visited him again today for a quick dusting of my ends to get rid of the remaining damage. My hair hasn't been this happy in a long time! Highly recommend Kyle. Not only is he talented, but he's also a great person to spend some time with.

I have been going to fuss for at least 4 or 5 years now I think and I absolutely love Kristin and the rest of the staff. I've had fabulous experiences with many of the stylists though Kristin is my primary at this point and see her monthly as a young woman with a pixie and a touch of vanity but Kristin is in charge. I don't know what my color or cut will be - and I mean I do not know. At all. Kristin can do absolutely whatever she wants and I always absolutely love it - anything from deep browns, to white blonds, any color of the rainbow (blue, purple, pink, seafoam - anything!), and absolutely anything in between, above or below! The cut is the same, while short hair has it's limits she finds a way to do something a bit different and new each month keeping it exciting! For me this has an extra significance than post young women and their hair. I have a severe chronic autoimmune disease similar to Crohn's, Lupus and MS in one fun package. I have feeding tubes, IVs, I'm a full time wheelchair user with a service dog and significant hearing loss and no matter what Fuss has been accommodating, caring, and yet not treating me any differently or awkwardly because of these things. Kristin is compassionate and deeply cares about her clients and the salon she co-owns with Stacey - another lovely human being! The salon is wheelchair accessible with online booking and that is what got me in the door, but it was the awesome service, people, and awesome hair that kept me going back. Every penny spent is totally worth it. My hair has become central to my identity and is used almost as a distraction for others, if I get out of hospital after a long admission Kirstin knows we need to do something totally wild and a big change because people notice me, celebrate me, and the pity about being sick or in a chair melts away. Kristin keeps me human for the chunk of humanity who can't otherwise see passed the assistive devices and tech that get me through my day to day life. My mother now drives up from Kingston to see Martha, my sister who recently moved here for university is also a client and I've had many successful referrals. I can't stress how awesomely understanding they are of disability and the variations that can come with that. Friends with disabilities ranging from tourettes to autism to intellectual disabilities have found kindness, compassion, understanding, and fabulous hair in a judgement free environment! If you've been thinking about trying out a new place for any reason Fuss should be it! I am happy to act as a future reference or answer any direct questions about this if you are still feeling a bit unsure. Fuss is totally the place to be!

Before Fox and Jane I had been going to a family run business in my hometown (since I was about 7, almost 20 years!). But after moving to Toronto, and my previous stylist reducing her hours, combined with COVID restrictions, I needed to find somewhere closer and easier to access. After doing a thorough amount of research (and cutting my own hair one too many times), I finally got in to see Lauren…there are no words for this lovely human! She’s warm, friendly, outgoing and worked with my boundaries to produce the looks I was going for. I have never experienced better service, or better results. Her work is simply flawless; so detailed and meticulous. Being a natural redhead as well, she’s really helped me become a bit more experimental with colour, all while making me feel super comfortable and excited to switch things up. I cannot recommend her enough! The entire staff is really just the best, and so invested in their clients and the work they do. The only regret I have is that I’ll have to book my appointments 6 months in advance because of how popular they’re becoming!!

I've been coming here regularly (two times a year or so) for four years, and as long as I live in the neighbourhood, I won't go anywhere else. My cuts always grow out nicely, whether it is a trim or a reshape. I had ombre done here in 2014 and a year later, I was still getting compliments and even inspired others to get the same (Melissa is my regular stylist, but I've been to a couple others). More recently, I had my hair coloured again. Melissa did a great job with the cut and colour - the shade was just a bit darker than what I wanted, but they had no problem adjusting it. Melissa was even willing to fix it on her day off!

I cannot express how great Fox&Jane was and I especially can't express how amazing the stylist Lauren is! I went here for the first time this January and got a cut and colour with Lauren. She knew exactly what colour I wanted my balayage to be, but most importantly, she cut my hair in a way that works perfectly with how I regularly style it. I'm usually hesitant to cut my hair in case it gets cut too short, but Lauren made sure it was the exact length I wanted. Fox and Jane was fantastic, I cannot recommend it enough! I recently had my hair done by Renee at Fuss and am quite disappointed with the turnout. I had gone to Fuss once before and was very happy with the turnout which is why I went back again. This time, I was told at the beginning of my appointment that it would be possible to achieve the colour I had gone in for, however; after bleaching my hair and putting toner in, I was told that they did not in fact have the right colour in stock. I was charged full price for a hair colour that was nowhere near the colour I wanted. I was also told that it was my fault that the colour did not turnout right as I "hadn't told them in advance" - I would've been happy to reschedule my appointment having known that they did not have the right colour I wanted if they had told me prior to bleaching and toning my hair. At the end of my appointment, it was suggested that I go to Shoppers Drug Mart to dye my hair myself to achieve the colour I wanted.

March 2021: Fox and Jane Toronto has the utmost in Covid protocols. I had my hair done when salons were (TOO BRIEFLY) allowed to open in the summer, and masks, dividers, and sanitizing were part of the procedure. I work in healthcare and honestly say that Fox and Jane is doing everything right. OPEN SALONS IN TORONTO. And if you’re looking for a great, safe, cut, go to Fox and Jane I love this place : before as Fuss, now as Fox and Jane. It’s an incredibly welcoming, professional and unpretentious salon. I went in about two months ago wanting to do a big change: get rid of my dyed red hair (which I’d been dyeing for 34 years) and have my hair be an ash brown (the colour of my roots) with beautiful silver highlights. I envisioned a big silver piece in the front. I met with Vada for a consultation. Vada listened, asked great questions, then presented how this whole transition might shake out. They were knowledgeable and the plan was reasonable. It was going to take 2 or 3 visits to get to the place I was envisioning. What I want to convey is that Vada is an AMAZING hair artist. They did it! And my hair is healthy and looks waaaaay better than I imagined. In two (lengthy) visits, Vada was able to do what we discussed : tone down the red, then introduce ash brown hair with GORGEOUS silver highlights. I’m beyond impressed and beyond happy. To boot, Vada is an amazing person and so patient - and a true professional. They wanted to know that I was satisfied before I left the shop. I can’t recommend Vada enough !

Amazing experience!! Came across this little gem while my regular colorist was out of town. Went to see Jairo, who gave me partial highlights and it turned out beautifully. He was obviously very experienced, and also very friendly. Though he is a senior stylist, I was not charged an arm and a leg- the pricing is very reasonable for the quality of service. I was incredibly impressed by the level of safety precautions put into place right away when they reopened. Plexiglass has been placed between each station and masks and face shields were worn by each stylist amongst other additions. I had a hair appointment this past thursday booked this appointment a couple weeks back and have been communicating with Renee regarding hair style/colour on instagram. It was my first time at this salon as I've heard amazing reviews. I have to say I was quite disappointed with the mood of the team. I spent 5 hours listening to the staff bicker about the type of music being played or staff screaming/shouting at each other. It seemed like a toxic environment, Renee actually got very fustrated at the other hair stylist at one point for playing the wrong radio station? I had to try to de-esculate her high mood level and keep quiet to myself the remainding of the time. More than 3 hours into the process she asked me again to show her pictures/colour of the hair that I wanted. Which threw me off as my hair was already covered in foil and in the process of dying. Like did she not know what I came in looking for?? We communicated about this on instagram! And during the beginning of the appointment. As she was combing and applying the hair dye, I have no idea what was going on as her comb keep falling and hitting me in the head. Her direct words was .. "You are okay!" And just brushed it off and continued. The dye was dripped on my hand, and again she just wiped it off and continue without any saying. When she washed my hair, due to my height I wasn't able to properly sit back to fit correctly in the seat. I can feel the water dripping down my back so I readjusted myself and the towel to soak in the water but she freaked out on me for not sitting back properly. In the end, she told me don't tag her in any of the hair post, and don't tag the salon ?!?! I'm just amazed, never has this happened. I don't need another experience at this salon but just wanted to address the issues that I experienced.

I get pretty bad anxiety getting my hair cut I’m very awkward but Kristen made me feel super comfortable right from the beginning. The consultation was very thorough and they took the time to really understand not only just what I wanted but also my routine so as not to give me something I couldn’t manage every day. Great conversation which also helped me feel comfortable in their chair. I will also say when a stylist recommends a product it’s for a reason and definitely purchase it because the sea salt spray they used in my hair did things no other spray has. I had never dyed my hair before, so Renee (after giving me a bomb haircut) explained the process and we talked through colours! First time going to Fuss after a few scary balayages in various other places. VADA IS A MAGICAL WIZARD. The tone, the blending, the explanations, the care and time she took... she is simply a classy lady. It didn't take her long to understand exactly what I wanted - and oh man did she deliver. Plus, she is super nice and so fun to talk to. I went from brunette to blonde and she really took the time to explain how to take care of my new hair - which was great and it still looks just as fab 3 weeks later. My mother, who usually hates hair that is more than one colour, has only gone a gotten a balayage herself after seeing Vada's handiwork! But enough about Vada, the actual salon is comfy and clean and has great, great, bangin' tunes. Everyone was really friendly and down to earth. I would say the prices are fair.
