On a business trip from San Francisco, I walked by this place in the early evening and liked the haircut, what turned out to be the owner, was crafting for a client. I walked in to get an appointment for the next day. The owner was fully booked, but recommended Kim. Bottom line.. The best haircut I've had in years. The band touring stories and local information were just icing on the cake. Thanks Kim! I'll be back.

I was referred to this salon by an acquaintance who had a lovely cut and colour there. Unfortunately this wasn't my experience at all. Booking my appointment was very quick and easy over the phone, no issues there or anything upon arrival. My stylist, Santina, greeted me on time and was very pleasant. From the onset I was nervous as I had hoped she would offer me way more guidance. I kept asking her for her suggestions and recommendations, but she really had nothing to offer me. Getting your hair done is such an awkward situation, so I didn't make a big deal of it, but in hindsight I really wish I had. She helped me choose a colour, although I have no experience with colour (which is why i thought I was going to an expert) and she kept asking me which shade I thought I should get. She suggested one and I said okay. She assured me it wouldn't be too dark. I don't know if she applied anything to protect my ends, which I was very up front about were extremely damaged and I told her to give me a very good haircut, and was fine with cutting off 2-3" at least if not more. I'm quite sure she let the dye sit on for WAY too long, but she went to eat lunch so I wasn't sure what to do ... Also, like I said, I'm not the expert here so I didn't want to overstep. She didn't do a strand test at any point. Eventually she came back, I don't know if she was timing it actually or not, she just returned after a while. Washed my hair and then did a 15 minute hair cut. I was really hoping to get quite a bit cut off because my ends were damaged and my layers were really screwed up from a previous bad cut. I showed her specifically which parts needed evening out. I once again, asked for her suggestions / guidance but she didn't really suggest anything except to even out one side. After a very quick cut, I asked if she took anything off the back and she assured me she cut of 3", but now that it's been a day I can absolutely tell she did not. She never once held up a mirror to the back so I could see. When she blow dried it, she smoothed it with a round brush, so maybe I'm just an idiot, but I couldn't tell if it was properly cut at all. To be honest, it looked really good! The joke is on me though because after one wash at home I can tell my hair is beyond fried. The dye sat on way way too long, and the haircut is non-existant. I'm almost in tears because I paid $250 for something I could have done at home myself with kitchen scissors and a box of L'Oreal. My ends are blunt, my layers are terrible and now I have strays and fried ends. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I know now in future to just be a jerk and speak up at the risk of it being awkward or overstepping. The other stylists at this salon may be great, but sadly mine was not.

This place is bit pricey but the experience is worth it... I had an appointment with James yesterday and my gosh , he gave me the best hair cut... Very experienced and skilled.. would always go here in future.

Been going here for several years to see Debbie, and I could not be happier. Constantly get compliments on my haircut, which has vairied from pixie to long to Bob. Debbie really knows how to make short hair feminine and interesting. She also has a great sense of how different hair will work with different styles. The cuts keep looking good for MONTHS on end. Would highly recommend her and her colleagues at Colour Box.

Dani is a miracle worker. In just two sessions she took my hair from fifty shakes of pink and brown to platinum blond with very minimal damage. I found out that my wedding could proceed on short notice and I needed to have blond hair and she made it happen and it looks perfect! She is confident in her work and it shows. I was nervous to see another stylist as I had the same one prior for ten years but I was so happy with her work and positive attitude towards my hair nightmare. 1000% recommend!

I've been going to Jen to get my hair done for some time now (2 years +) and she is exactly what I like in a stylist: She listens carefully to what I'm asking for and asks questions to ensure we're on the same page; she tells me when she doesn't think a style is going to work for my (very straight, fine) hair and pays very careful attention as she's cutting. Also important: she gives awesome shampoo/massage - come on, who isn't disappointed when they get a wimpy scalp massage!? She also has the other less-vital but still important qualities in a stylist that I like: she is cooler than me; she smells nice; she is chatty but not overly so, and she's really, really nice! I've recommended her to my family and friends and 100% of those who have gone to her tell me they had a great experience. I also like Colourbox itself beause, as other reviewers have mentioned, it has a cool atmosphere but isn't trying too hard to be anything other than it is - a really good hair salon!

I hadn't gotten a professional haircut in years because I was so nervous about letting someone at my curls, but Debbie was confident, reassuring, asked the right questions to make sure we were on the same page, and I could not be happier with the results! The place is pricy, bit they only do a good job 90% of the time. Some of them do have enough taste to give a good dye job, so that's good if you can splurge. Like anywhere else, you are better off finding the one hairdresser who knows your hair and sticking with them.
