I read some reviews of this place and there were a fair amount that painted a poor picture. I chanced it and took my 5 year old to get a haircut. The staff worked amazingly with him. They were very friendly and made him feel very comfortable. He's never been great at getting his hair cut but this time he just sat there and ever wore the gown to protect from hair clippings. ( This is a first). It might have helped that I bribed him with a promise of a King King toy from Walmart across the parking lot, but it doesn't matter. They assured him multiple times, showed him how the Clippers don't hurt and did a fantastic job. Thanks!

Do not get your hair cut from Melanie ! She is the most obnoxious hair dresser I've ever come across not to mention she does not know how to cut hair. When I asked another dresser to fix the terrible haircut she gave my little brother, she got so mad and became very rude about it and stormed out while half way through cutting my sisters hair. Did you even go to hair school Melanie ?? Unbelievable!!!

Was told for my appointment due to covid19 to wait for them to call me to go into the salon, I even confirmed to make sure they didn't want me to call them to let them know I was there the lady said no, okay fine. Appointment day, I got there 10 minutes early and waited till 15 mins after my appointment time before getting annoyed and called. Thry told me someone else took my appointment since I didn't know, one lady tried to speak English but still had difficulty to understand the issue. Told me my appointment was from 2 to 230, I am a girl with complicated hair (this was expressed to the lady I spoke to when I made the appt) and was mind-blowing to know, 30 minutes is not enough for my hair type. Tried explaining again the lady yesterday told me to wait for their call. The lady kept saying I was late and nothing she can do, then told me other customers were waiting because she was on the phone with me. Transferred me to another person who spoke French when I said I speak little French. Was told that they dont call clients, well I was lied to then and left with no course of action to resolve the problem.

I called to make an appointment but then said they only take walk-ins so I hustled over there. No waiting at all. I had quick, courteous service. I pretty much gave the girl free reign on how to cut and style my past shoulder-length hair. She gave me a nice side-bang layered look at my shoulders. I thought she'd go chop happy, but she framed my face nicely. She wasn't overly chatty, which was just fine by me. I also got $2.00 off for some reason (maybe because it is Tuesday? I don't know.)!

We were in the Columbia Square mall in save on foods and husband wanted a quick hair cut checked with the ladies in magicuts but they were busy but gave us a time at 3 pm. I did not enjoy my first time experience here. I have long and processed hair and it's quite damaged so it needs a little extra TLC so I decided to go in for a trim. My "hair dresser" was a girl in training (didn't look over 16) and truthfully I don't think she even went to beauty school. She literally did not know how to cut hair. I had to tell her to wash my hair prior to cutting it, after washing it she proceeded to comb (using a fine toothed comb) my hair from the root which damaged my hair even further. I also asked to have my ends feathered and thinned out, instead I got a choppy blunt cut with uneven ends. Since my haircut there my hair ended up being more damaged... it's been a couple of weeks since I got it cut there and it hasn't been the same nor has it recovered. I'm quite dissapointed and just sad that now I will have to spend more money (elsewhere) and get it cut even shorter. A word or advice, if anyone with long hair comes in for the FIRST time in your salon, please don't assign her to someone who hasn't gone to beauty school nor knows how to cut hair properly.

Worst Customer Service, Worst Haircut. First time I get my haircut I got stripes and second time they don’t do that. I mean they changed their rules in one month. The lady was very rude. I even tip them first time I visited. But, never gonna come back after the way I was treated the second time on 29th December. They should learn how to treat a customer.

This was our first time going to Magicuts. Based on the excellent reviews, I wanted to see for myself. Upon entering, we were greeted by a lovely woman, Shiva. The interior was clean, organized and followed all health and safety protocols. I communicated to Shiva (the friendly hairdresser who cut my child's hair) what I wanted. Her patience, professionalism and kindness was very much appreciated and she did a wonderful job of cutting my child's hair. This store is conveniently located off of Ira Needles in the same plaza as Shoppers Drugmart in Kitchener. I would highly recommend getting your hair services done at this store and ask for Shiva as she is very approachable, professional and knows how to cut hair well! We will certainly be back!

Very disappointing experience there. Was not satisfied with my cut at all, especially for $28.50 after their $4 cleaning fee which is pretty ridiculous. I’ve been a few times as it’s close to my house but I’ve never left happy and I’m pretty easy to please. Do yourself a favour and avoid this business as I will be from now on.

I regretted it the second she started cutting. She took me in as a walk-in....5 mins later her appointment show's up! Why the hell did She take me? She rushed my hair cut, kept spraying water bottle water into my face instead of hair. Left me with hair all over my face. My hair cut lasted 7 minutes. I paid $22 for a haircut I could have done myself better. Just avoid like the plague, these places are just Cheap, but offer Horrible service. I left a $2 tip only because I have class. Otherwise no tip was deserved!

Worst customer experience I have ever had. Yes they take walk-ins, But unless you want to be treated like you are walking into a production line, Don't go here. I was not impressed at all, the hair dresser took 5 minuets chopping my hair, which include roughly ripping a fine tooth comb through the length of my WET fine hair. Chopping my bangs to length in a few quick snips. And then telling me that she would have to charge me extra to blow dry my hair! Walked out (after paying), very unimpressed, with the worst hair cut of my life, feeling disrespected and disappointed. I will NEVER GO to here again.

I finally got fed up with my hair and didn't have time to wait 3 weeks to go to the sylist I've been going to for 20 years an hour away. So I went to the closest walkin salon I knew of. I had a plan that if I went in and found someone that looked like they had lost a fight with Edward Scissorhands that I'd pretend I was looking for a particular hair product and leave. Instead I met Bianca and loved her! I got a fabulour cut and for under $40 including a great tip. I will definitely be going back to her soon! She was very nice, asked me before she cut anything and didn't talk my ear off. I really like her and love my cut. Thank you Bianca! ????????????

Worst place I've ever gotten a haircut. My boyfriend and I went there on a Sunday and both the ladies working did a terrible job. My boyfriend's hair is uneven in the front and my bangs are all over the place. The older blonde lady kept stabbing me in the forehead with her nails. I was charged too much for the job that was done. I don't remember their names unfortunately, but I would not recommend this place. At least not on Sunday.

The admissions attendant quite stupidly told me that my mask was not correct. Using forceps she gave me a blue mask, as used in medical clinics. She took my temperature. I tried to reassure her by telling her that I had received my two doses of vaccine to which she replied that I could still be infected. This same person led me to the sink and warned me not to sit down until I had sanitized the chair. And she proceeded to the hair wash, during which I was treated to a good shower. (Water ran down my back and down my arms.) I asked for a dry towel. I'm not sure she did. She let me know that it was my fault because I hadn't positioned myself properly on the sink. She invited me to take a seat on the chair she indicated to me, but first of all by keeping me away in order to carry out a proper disinfection. And she gave me a few moments to let the hairdresser know I was ready. While I waited, I took the blow dryer in front of me to try to dry my dress a little. And there, I was entitled to an admonition that left me speechless. '' you don't have the right to touch that, you don't know that you have to ask permission before touching the instruments, etc. '' ... and so on And all these words on a tone of more arrogant. I felt like a plagued and humiliated person. So I removed the towel from my wet hair and left the place without further delay. I wonder afterwards if I hadn't escaped it. What hairstyle would I have had? .... No I do not recommend this salon which considers you as an intruder and without any respect. (Original) Je me suis présentée à l'heure convenue. J'étais la seule cliente dans le salon.. Déjà il a fallu plusieurs minutes pour retrouver mon rendez-vous sur le système informatique. La préposée à l'admission tout bêtement m'a signifié que mon masque n'était pas conforme. A l'aide d'une pince elle m'a remis un masque bleu, tel qu'utilisé dans les cliniques médicales. Elle a pris ma température . J'ai tenté de la sécuriser en lui mentionnant que j'avais reçu mes deux doses de vaccin ce à quoi elle m'a répondu que je pouvais quand même être contaminée. Cette même personne m'a conduite au lavabo et m'a mise en garde de ne pas m'asseoir avant d'avoir désinfecté la chaise. Je ne suis pas certaine qu'elle l'ai fait. Elle m'a laissé entendre que c'était ma faute car je ne m'étais pas bien positionné sur le lavabo. Elle m'a invitée à prendre place sur la chaise qu'elle me désignait mais tout d'abord en me maintenant à l'écart afin de procéder à une désinfection en règle. Et elle m'a laissé quelques instants pour informer la coiffeuse que j'étais prête. Alors que j'attendais, j'ai pris le séchoir à cheveux devant moi pour tenter d'assécher un peu ma robe. Et là, j'ai eu droit à une remontrance qui m'a laissé sans mot. ''vous n'avez pas le droit de toucher à çà, vous ne savez pas qu'il faut demander la permission avant de toucher aux instruments, etc.''.. et j'en passe Et toutes ces paroles sur un ton des plus arrogant. Je me sentais comme une personne pestiférée et humiliée. Aussi ai-je retiré la serviette de mes cheveux mouillés et j'ai quitté ces lieux sans plus attendre. Je me demande après-coup si je ne l'avais pas échappé belle. Quelle coupe de cheveux aurais-je eu droit?.... Non je ne recommande pas ce salon qui vous considère comme une intruse et sans aucun respect .

When you arrive, just check in and you will see your name in the screen and who is next up for a haircut. Very cool feature. I use it when I go for a cut. I went to get a low fade, being trying to let my curls grow for months, and I have some events coming up including a weeding. The girl was a bit late to our appt, no biggie. I show her pictures of what I wanted and tell her I need a low fade and minimal cut, as I was letting it grow. She did a very high (not fade as it was totally hard stop between zero and the rest of my hair) and it was even uneven on one side and the other. I hate posting negative reviews but I don’t want another person to experience this, also this might be a lesson opportunity to the establishment as well as the Stylist.

Don't get your hair cut here. They can't follow simple instructions after being told 3 times not to cut certain areas and follow the lines of the previous style. My boyfriend and I went there last night for him to get his hair cut for semi he asked for a 3 or 4 on sides and trim a trim! On top char the lady did not listen and shaved his whole head and left a tiny bit of hair on the top which isn’t a trim him myself and his mother were very upset but out of kindness we didn’t say anything because it wouldn’t have changed his hair, and then she asked for25 dollars after creating a mess she obviously wasn’t trained with the mess she made. Never again will I go or he will go to the magic cuts in Sdyney????. And he did speak up he said I want just a little off the top not a full trim but she cut it like full on and didn’t even do the back right she didn’t nicely blend it at all I don’t not recommend her services if you do go to that magic cuts. No offence to her but if she just listened and did what he asked than we wouldn’t be so shaken up and if she wasn’t comfortable doing it she could’ve asked the other lady...

I don't know what cereal box Roxie got her hair cutting license from but she gave me some weird mushroom cut with long hair underneath. Absolutely ruined my hair beyond repair. Looks like a have an exaggerated mullet when all I asked was to get my layers touched up. I can't even tie my hair up because the top is so short. It's choppy and uneven I look awful. I have to wear a tuque until it grows long enough to fix. I am devastated. Prices are cheap for a reason. Never go here.

I have mixed opinions about Magicuts. Fernando has made my hair look amazing a couple of times, did EXACTLY what I asked for. I went in expecting the usual (tell a hair dresser what you want and getting something different) but I was pleasantly surprised when it looked so fabulous! I also find his personality wonderful. Sadly today I didn't have the same experience. I went to get a hair cut before work and wanted a very specific hair cut but got the exact opposite. Not only that but some sections are uneven and not layering uneven, ACTUALLY uneven. I don't know why it upsets me so much but I really could not believe what she did to my hair. In my opinion it looks like teenage boy hair. I really regret not getting it blow dried when I was there because I would have told her immediately I wasn't happy. It looks so bad it's like I cut it myself.

Dorina is a great stylist, she has done my hair before and done a great job. Last time I was there some one else did my hair and after I told her not to shave the back of my inverted bob she did it anyways. Told me she was going to trim up the bottom and then shaved one inch into the bottom of my hairline, I had razor burn for three days! Never had such a poor hair cut in my life.

Very inconsistent service, as some users mentioned previously. After a couple of decent (good for the price) haircuts, I went in and got a very disappointing one. Even though I had an appointment, the stylist rushed and simply didn't follow what I was asking for. She went for it right away and was done in 10-15 minutes, with minimum effort and tools. But I should not be complaining - it is a $20 haircut. That's exactly what you will get - A haircut (may not be the one you asked for). Price makes me give it 3 stars, as opposed to 1. You get what you pay for here.

Two weeks ago I went to magic cuts to get my 2 year old daughter haircut. I waited this long to post this review because I decided to cool off before writing it since I was VERY UPSET when I left the store that day. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCE SUCH A BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MY LIFE. Our hair dresses that day was FERNANDO. The first time I put my daughter on the chair she was a bit fuzzy was not crying just been a little bit fuzzy which is expected for a little kid getting their haircut. Instantly Fernando reacted very rude and told me that he was not going to cut her hair he did not even gave her 2 minutes to calm down he just reacted right away. If you are going to cut kids hair you have to be a little more patience, at least give them couple minutes. I told him to give me a second just to put some cartoon on my cellphone so she can watch it while he cuts her hair that usually works with her. He said okay, after I insisted, but you can tell by his face and the way he talked to us that he was very annoyed by this. He was treating us like he was doing us a favor or something not like he was providing a service to us that we are paying for. I put on the cartoons and my daughter calmed down. He proceed to put on the cape they usually put around you when they cut your hair and she fuzzed a little but again did not cry yet just a bit fussy and he took it off right away and told me very rude to leave that he was not going to cut her hair, that she did not want him to cut it. I told him that it was normal that kids cry and they are fuzzy sometimes that he just had to be a little more patience and give her couple minute to chill. He told me that was not true, that not all kids cry and that he was not gonna wait around for hours for her to be ready to get a haircut! He was so rude I was in shock. I asked for the manager and he said he was not there and I also ask for another hairdresser to do her hair and he said he was the only one there. If he did not feel comfortable cutting kids hair then don’t take an appointment with a little kid, when I made the appointment I told them how old she was. Also, if he was just afraid that she was going to move too much and ruined the haircut and he was not confident or comfortable cutting her hair he could have told me nicely; be nice about it, he did not had to be so rude. Before I left I told him I was shock by how rude he was to us and the lack of customer service and his answer was “Whatever”. My mom, my husband, my daughter and I were frequently customers of this shop, but after this horrible experience we will not be going back there and I advise you not to take your kids there for a haircut or avoid making appointments with Fernando.

My son's hair was completely butchered. Yes he's young but he knows to sit still and did a great job doing so. There's no blending on his ceaser cut at all, she did straight bangs (no idea why) and even failed at that! The conversation amongst the employees was unprofessional both times I was in there, which it's seems like talking about these inappropriate subjects is more of a priority than focusing on the hair they're cutting.

sorry.this is the most difficult decision to make. first off for a middle of the road salon, the prices are too high for the services. you can go to Valvano in st.catharines for roughly the same price. $20.00 more for extreme professional color and cut. I have never given a 1 star. its plain not worth the drive to this location. Sorry.

Terrible experience last year. The girl spent 2 hrs straightening my wife's hair and she didn't even want that! Slow, unprofessional and absolutely horrific. She had to go to another hairdresser and spend tons of money to undue the damage that this girl did.

Was really disappointed by magicuts. Was told there was a 30 minutes wait at 1:30. I figured I’d have more than enough time to get a TRIM and make it to my shift that’s started at 4. I had to leave at 2:45 after still not being served and recieving no explaination for the wait. While I was the only waiting customer in store, other family members of served customers started commenting on how long I had been there. Not impressed, was a waste of my time.

If I could put negative stars I would. I usually come here for a haircut and got an older women that I haven’t seen in there before ( around my age could be older) a couple weeks ago. I said I wanted a trim and ended up with no hair left. I said I didn’t want more off and that she took too much off and she said oooo well it will grow back. No apology nothing I will not be returning.

I only go here to see Cindy. I've had a few of the other stylists and they were nice, but I didn't end up getting the cut I wanted. She understands the "shabby hipster" cut that works so well with my hair and I've never been disappointed with her results. She's very likeable and works quickly without making you feel rushed. I definitely recommend her.

I personally will NEVER return to this salon!!!.. The manager was using racist terms towards indigenous people, and was proudly doing so while there was an indigenous elder getting her hair done. This issue has been all over social media and I've yet to of seen any kind of public apology made by this salon. 2020 people racism shouldn't even be a thing ESPECIALLY in an environment where half its clientele is first nation people and the sadest part is that it came from management... what a great remodel.

The only downside is they aren’t open until the time they state. They usually stop taking customers 25-30 minutes before their stated closing time.
