I’ve been coming to Romeo’s since I was a child, and have had an abundance of wonderful experiences receiving their services. However, in the past couple years, I have noticed a degradation in the once ‘luxury’ experience that was provided at this salon. The extra services that were provided during the cut (hand massages, head massages, drinks made for you etc) justified the high prices to be paid in my eyes, but with those removed it doesn’t seem justifiable anymore. I’ve had multiple unsatisfying cuts in the past, but have continued to support this business because of my love for the artists on staff, but after the services I received yesterday I’m not sure I’ll be returning. I returned for a cleanup trim for an already short hairstyle. The artist spent 40 minutes blow drying my hair, styling it, and then dry cut some layers and maybe a centimetre of length. By the end, I was expecting to pay for a trim, but ended up paying for a full ‘student cut’. 70 dollars. I was shocked but paid because I know this is a vet artist, and it probably justified his work and time, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of frustration. Additionally, due to my allergy to scents and the aveda products used at the salon, I had to wash out my hair upon returning home (which is probably a ‘me’ problem but it aggravated the frustration I already felt). All-in-all, Romeos keeps talented people on staff, but their pricing isn’t something I can keep up with anymore as a struggling student.
