Rana from VIVA HAIR is amazing! You can tell she really cares about her clients. She styled my hair for a beauty pageant and I received so many compliments. Rana made my hair look so voluminous despite having alopecia and damage from lightening. She’s a pillar in our creative community and all the fashion models at the agency love her. Came to Viva Salon and had my hair done by Madeline E, which was amazing. I got the whole shebang - color, cut, and a treatment on my hair to keep it strong. The salon itself is super inviting with taupe, grey and gold colours. The staff is friendly, the coffee was good too and it was a great experience overall.

So unhappy I called in to book a tone and ask roughly how much and they said said not a lot it's just a tone. (my friend just got hers done and told me it was $60) so assuming it would be around that I book the appointment. The man toned my hair very nice man then tried my hair under the chair with it clipped up then proceeded to comb it out with a pick comb. The hair wasn't even at the point that I could run my fingers threw it or parted and he said we are gone. Now I figured just a tone I wouldn't have it styled but to not even brush threw it or part it I was surprised. Then I go to pay and it was $130 plus there is no option not to tip so the total was $140! I then asked if that's the correct price and he said yes! Completely not worth it. I would have never got it done if I know that it was that expensive!

Once again I have had an amazing experience at Viva Hair. A big thanks to Mike! He has been doing my hair for about two years now and it hasn't looked this good since last time I saw him! The staff is always friendly and professional and you can tell everyone loves their job. I have dark hair that I always do blonde and I always leave with more shiny, healthy hair than I came in with. They use the top shelf products and you can tell. Mike and his staff are very knowledgeable about hair and colouring which is great. You can tell they are constantly educating themselves. Rose blonde - it was an experiment that turned out exactly as I wanted !! Love this place! I have been here twice. the first time, Courtney did a fabulous job on my hair. I recently had a baby and hadn't had my hair done in a year. She listened attentively and went beyond my expectations. The second time I came here was earlier this week. The owner, Mike did my hair and he also did a fantastic job and was fun to chat with. Lastly, his wife gave me a sugar facial and it was wonderful. Babysoft, fuzz and excess hair free. I left feeling like a brand new woman. Great service from start to finish. Normally, I am not one to go into salons as I always felt that they have a certain judgemental opinion about others. However, when I desperately was in a tight spot, they treated me like family here. I went to see Mike at this beautiful Salon that was very warm and welcoming just a few weeks ago...I have been in Calgary for about 6 years and had not had any luck in finding anyone who did my blonde how I liked it, and I spent alot of money just to be disappointed. I had a customer come into my place of work one day recently and her hair was absolutely beautiful!! Myself and all my co-workers were blown away how beautiful her hair was,so I asked her where she got her hair done and she told me Mike at Viva...I booked an appointment within a few weeks so go see Mike. I was nervous and really praying that he would give me the blonde hair I was dreaming about and a great cut...He did both!! I was absolutely blown away by his talent and kindness!! I feel so beautiful and confident again!!! Thank you so much Mike,I will be back to see you every time I need my hair done!! And his wife Zeina and beautiful daughter Rana were absolutely lovely and so talented as well....and they have the cutest little dog named Lala that runs around and makes everyone smile...I have to say I was there for 3 and a half hrs and watched all the other staff do incredible jobs on clients hair...What an Amazing salon and staff!! My wife has been going here for a decade. She always sees the owner Mike and he is fantastic. She loves almost every cut she has had (she has tried a lot of different styles) and even the 1or 2 that wasn't quite her personal taste were still done extremely well. I have also gone the owner. He was super good. There are a few particulars I look for in a cut and without giving him any hints, he got everything right and even did a few things better than anyone prior. For the few dollars more than the low cost alternatives the quality is well worth highly recommend.

As someone who was a hairstylist for 10 years I highly recommend this salon. The staff were professional, friendly, and knowledgable. The salon is a cute little space that is clean and well kept. The way that the mirrors are arranged make it feel like you have your own personal space which is nice. I attended this salon because it's near my new house. I booked a color and cut which was avaliable same day. The stylist who took care of me (Brittney), was bubbly, enthusiastic, and made me smile. She listened to all of my requests and performed the color application with flawless technique. The cut and style were also beautiful. I couldnt have been happier with the results. During the appointment I asked if I could get my eyebrows waxed and they were happy to accommodate me. Zaina (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) did an excellent job fixing my eyebrows which had an unfortunate mishap at a different salon. She also recommended a service to improve some skin problems I have been having which I immediately booked. Overall, great service and even better results. I have never been loyal to a salon but I think this will be my new spot. Thanks Viva Hair ♡♡

Saw Brittany for the first time yesterday. She was very bubbly and smiling and so friendly. She made a suggestion about changing the color of my blonde high lighted hair due to the cool color of my complexion. I went for it and got a totally different blonde color - not the yellow highlights I had with no low lights. She gave me a more ash tone blonde color which she said suited me more than the yellowy blonde I walked in with. The low lights she put in my hair matched my natural hair color and she told me it would last me at least 2 weeks longer before I had to come back again. I thought that was very thoughtful of her to make the suggestion and she is right - my low lights are the same color of my natural ash blonde hair and looks very good. I will be going back for my next highlighting appointment. Everything was clean, calm, private and a delightful salon.

Went for a haircut and asked for a trim and long face framing layers... what I got was 'layers' 6 inches shorter than my hair (ON TOP of my hair, so they're very noticeable and not at all blended in with the rest of my hair) and what looks to be blunt bangs that are grown out. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement...I have my first family photos ever that will be taken this week with my baby boy, and my hair is butchered. Hopefully another stylist at another salon can fix the mess that was made at Viva.

Definitely not a great experience. I am not happy with the haircut nor with the customer service received...and the 'process' very unpleasant - very rough hair combing (my poor ears) and the blow dryer was not hot, it was burning hot...I received the haircut before the hair was washed (which is fine) however, I had to wait for my hair to be washed until M. washed another client's hair first + dried it..if you are hoping for a scalp massage, that's not gonna happen! And the attempt to style my hair was extremely unsuccessful...the left side ends were styled out and the right side ends in..I am sorry to say this but I will not return to this salon nor recommend it!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS HAIR SALON!!!! I am absolutely appalled by the unprofessionalism of Mike, the owner. I have had to cancel on him twice due to unpredictable life events during this pandemic as I had to take my daughter to emergency. Because of this he told me not to come to the salon any more because I've cancelled. I told him that my daughter's health was more important and he said that he didn't care, he's losing business. So if you're looking for a hairdresser I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Hope you all stay safe and healthy. VERY SAD!!!!!!!!

I had the worst experience at this salon. The owner wrecked my hair before my wedding and tried to fix it a second time. I paid over $300 and cried each time I came home. The owner tried to convince me my hair looked beautiful each time. I couldn't tell until I got home and blow dried it. My husband to be convinced me to find a new salon and didn't care what I had to pay to feel beautiful for our big day. Thank goodness for a talented stylist!

I was in last week to see Mike for a hair cut and color. He did a full set of high lites and a much needed cut. I went in without an appointment and the staff were still able to fit me in and give me the most fabulous service. My highlights turned out the most beautiful ashy blonde I think I've ever gotten, and the whole time I felt like I was getting exactly what I wanted. I didn't anticipate such good results as my hair had been pretty neglected over the past year and I was sporting a very brassy home job! Brittany styled my hair, and she was fabulous as well. She is also a joy to chat to. Overall, fantastic service, and I will be back over and over. Cant't wait for next time! :) I have never been disappointed with this place, but my most recent visit was my favourite yet! Love these guys!

Terrible, amateur cut! Absolutely no sectioning or checking, so very uneven and one side longer than the other - and my bangs! Let's not even go there! I have fine, straight hair, so you'll never get any volume blow dried in with a paddle brush! And these are supposed to be professionals! Horrible service; was taken late and there was a distinct lack of interest - hairdresser left me three times to wipe colour off another customer's arms/face etc. Hugely disappointed and pretty disgusted at the price charged for this car wreck. Only positive is that I had only booked in for a cut - was originally planning colour too! Will never, ever go here again.

Went here for the first time recently. Booked with Hassan, and it was great. He’s a great stylist! He actually looked at my hair, moving, consulting with me before doing anything. He really listened to what I liked and made suggestions that made sense! You won’t understand how many places are quick to cutting or washing your hair before asking what you want. Hassan was also hilarious and made the whole experience great! The location was good, tons of parking, very clean inside and I didn’t have to wait. I definitely recommend this salon.

I first visited Mike in January 2019 on the recommendation of my sister. I was ready for a change and did he deliver! I explained how much time I had to do my hair each day, my job and the stubborn nature of my hair. Mike created a cut for me that in every way met my needs. I have had nothing but compliments everywhere I travel in Alberta from both people who have known me over 20 years and people who have just met me. I can style my hair quickly and it looks great! I just went back for my 2nd cut and will keep coming back. The Staff are friendly and I leave feeling refreshed.

I had my appointment with the owner mike last week for a cut and color, It was one of the best haircuts I have ever had! he listened to all of my concerns (seeing as I have super long hair and am afraid of having it cut short) and made sure I was comfortable with what he was going to do before we started. Let me start off by saying that the ONLY reason i am even giving this place a 1 star besides the fact that it has to be ranked somehow, is that the people who work in this salon are very nice and welcoming people. The customer service was fantastic, however the mess of my hair is sadly irreversible. To sum up what could be a very long story, i more or less came in looking for a basic cut and colour. Upon showing my stylist the hair style i wanted he immediately started cutting. Before i even had the chance to speak, my hair was well on it's way into layers. " you will look like a Victoria Secret Model" is the phrase that was used. Not only did i receive layers that i did not ask for nor ever want, the "bangs" that i showed in the picture were nothing like what i had received. Finally, my hair was styled so poorly, that when i left the salon, it had looked like i had been in a wind storm for hours. Bangs sticking off, hair each and every direction, honestly just terrible. I'm not usually one to complain or write reviews, but when i Face-timed my friend in tears, without even telling her i had gotten my hair done, the first comment from her mouth was " oh my god, what happened to your hair? ". I just couldn't bare this happening to someone else. Least to say, it's probably my own fault for picking a new salon based on google reviews, but the quality of my choppy layers, half bang and mess of a style is something not even the best ranked hair stylist will be able to fix and absolutely not worth 160.00. I would post a photo, but it's far to embarrassing.
