Alice has been styling and colouring my hair for the past few years since I met her! Love her and her work! Edit: I wrote the above review over a year ago, and I still go to Salon Freed to see Alice! I love her work (and her as a person because she is so sweet!) so much!!! I have been trying different hair colours, balayage and hair extensions with her and every style is on point. I always get compliments on my hair. I never had a home Salon until I came to Alice <3 Adding more recent photos of my hair because I am loving the blonde hair Alice helped me achieve! I naturally have black hair and she is a hair master that has helped me reach my hair goals!

This was my first visit to the salon and it was an excellent experience. Alice was so sweet and gave me such good tips for healthier looking hair. She was so fast and my haircut felt and looked so fresh! I live in the neighborhood and I'm so happy I found an excellent salon close to my house. I was checking out the work that the other ladies were doing and everything was so beautiful. I want to try colour next time! Their salon is minimalist and very cute. I will definitely be back.

Nicola has been cutting my hair for a few years now and she always gets it right and is the only person I trust to cut my hair. She is extremely professional and ensures that I am well taken care of and get the hairstyle I am looking for. Nicola is also very patient and willing to go out of her way to accommodate me. I've always had a great experience and only have good things to say about Nicola and Salon Freed. I highly recommend booking your next haircut with her as I gaurantee you wont be looking for any other Salon after you visit Nicola at Salon freed.

Amazing experience! I had my hair cut with Amanda and she made sure i was comfortable the whole time. Everyone there is also very kind and knowledgeable. They take the time to make sure you are happy with your result and recommend ways to make it better. I only got a women’s cut there, but other girls got their hair dyed and it looked very good. Overall, fair price and great service!

If I could rate Freed 10/10, I would. If I could rate "Miss" Alice 100/100, I most certainly would. Alice is as lovely as the ladies she works with, and their chic, cozy salon is welcoming and bright. I came to Alice approximately a year ago needing a complex color correction and flattering cut. From that first appointment I knew I had finally found the stylist I had been searching for, for years. I never lose sleep, or worry about my hair when I am scheduled to see Alice because I know I will be in her capable, talented hands. Alice listens and understands what I am requesting, but her vision and execution are beyond what I could hope for, or expect. Simple put, Alice is exceptional in her talents and in her art of cutting / styling hair. If you are looking for the absolute best in haircare and styling (plus warm and wonderful service), you will find it in this hidden gem. I am recommending Alice, and the gals at Freed to all my friends, family and coworkers. See you in January Alice. :)

Nicola helped me fall in love with my hair again! She listened to what I wanted and made me feel beautiful again! She helped my hair go from dry, dead, strangely to beautiful silky smooth AND kept the length! I felt so comfortable she did an absolutely amazing job I’m so impressed! I would recommend trying her out to anyone. She was so attentive and my hair turned out perfect. Everything I wanted and more. It was such a joy to sit in her chair. I stopped going to salons years ago because I had many bad experiences of stylists not listening and chopping all my hair off, leaving in tears. Nicola completely changed my view on salons and stylists! I will continue to see her as long as I live! 10/10 would recommend! My new favourite stylist – Nicola aka Nikki! I was visiting from Toronto and needed a stylist in Calgary for my engagement shoot ASAP. So happy and grateful I found Salon Freed and met Nikki. I had a colour correction, highlights, balayage and a haircut. She was able to fix my roots while blending it into my old balayage. I am absolutely in awe how she was able to transform my hair from long, brassy, damaged hair to beautiful, blended, healthy hair. Also, she is very accommodating. Always checking up on me and making sure I was okay. She is a talent not to be missed! This salon exceeded my expectations. The stylists here are not only talented but friendly, kind and incredibly hospitable. They made sure I was fed, comfortable, and they even offered to buy me a bubble tea! Lol Thank you, Nikki and Salon Freed for the Calgary hospitality. I will be back xo

I was very unimpressed with my experience at Salon Freed. I went in for balayage color treatment and the stylist back-combed my hair causing an unbelievable amount of damage to my hair. This stylist violently combed out my hair after back-combing it, causing even more breakage. Now I am stuck with damaged roots that will take years to grow back. Not to mention the astronomical charges for balayage compared to other salons (that do a better job to prevent breakage). Previous to this experience, I went in for a haircut at Salon Freed which was completely unsatisfactory. The stylist performed a dry haircut (she specifically asked me to come in with clean hair so she didn't have to wash mine) requiring less than 10 minutes of her time and did not clean up my layers at all. I left barely looking like my hair had been trimmed and the price was $80 for this terrible haircut. Salon Freed is overpriced and the stylist I went to was obviously inexperienced. I will never return, and you shouldn't either. Would NOT recommend.

I have been going to Lauren for a couple years now and she always nails my hair color. She is extremely knowledge about the chemistry of coloring and she understands what the best things are for my hair and what look I am trying to achieve. The salon is also very cute and has a nice atmosphere. It's also fun to have the drink options for customers as well :)
