Great atmosphere, amazing staff. Deb is a magician and has given me the best hair of my life! Truly the best salon I've been to. I wish they served wine but I guess they wanted to leave themselves some room for improvement. They are stocked with an abundance of lindt chocolates everywhere you look, so it's important only to wear sweatpants when going there. Otherwise, this is the place to be!

Welcoming, warm and inviting by all staff. You can really tell that the staff get along. There is a great atmosphere here. Also the hair dresser who cut my hair (Viri) took her time. She was personable and extremely attentive. I usually see senior hair dressers but I was desperate for a cut. I am glad I seen Viri she is by far the best hair dresser I had and I felt like she was passionate and loved what she did. I think some senior stylist lose sight of this. I used to go to red bloom, who were known as one of the best hair salons in calgary, I dont think thats the case anymore with me. Lava Hair far exceeds Red bloom in all levels. (atmosphere, staff, the final product). Viri even gave me tips on how to curl my hair!

The reason I decided to try Lava Hair was because the hairdresser I had seen at a different salon for almost 10 years had slowly lost her passion for doing hair…which resulted in my haircuts and color getting worse and worse over the last couple years. The last straw came when I went to see her for a quick haircut before the most important interview of my life. She didn’t listen to anything I said assuming she knew how to cut my hair after 10 years. She chopped off almost 6 inches of my hair, and gave me horrible uneven layers. I spent most of the morning crying before trying to pull myself together for my interview. So as you can tell, I was absolutely traumatized and decided that I needed a new hairdresser! After reading tons of reviews online and talking to friends, I decided to try Krista at Lava Hair. First of all, the outside of Lava Hair does not do it justice! The inside is so elegant and inviting! Seems like they put a lot of thought into the decor...not to mention it is super clean and tidy! The girl at the front, Valerie, was really friendly and kind when I came into the salon. She showed me to a change room where they let you change out of your top and into a robe so your clothes don’t get ruined…which I thought was genius! They offer you coffee, tea etc. while you wait. When I met Krista I was impressed! She was really attentive and kind, listening to my horrible haircut story. She spent time looking and feeling my hair to get a feel for it and asked me tons of questions about how I wear my hair, what it behaves like, etc. She showed me different pictures to get an idea of what kind of color I wanted before mixing it. She tried her best not to cut much off the ends since I already had way more cut off than I wanted at my disaster haircut. A plus was the whole time she was coloring and cutting my hair she was really easy to talk to. After she finished my cut she spent almost an hour showing me different ways I could style it. I spent almost 3 hours with Krista by the end of my appointment and I can honestly say that it was the best cut and color I have ever had in my life! All for around $200, I looked like I had a $500 hair cut and color! Extremely worth the cash! I feel like what they do for you at Lava make the price very reasonable! The different ways Krista showed me how to style my hair were super easy to do at home and I have never received so many compliments on my hair. Over the last two months it has grown out beautifully and I am so thankful to Krista and the Lava Salon for giving me such an amazing experience! I can officially say Krista is my new hair dresser as I go back to see her tomorrow:)

Jessica has been my main stylist for years now, and I am always happy with her company and the work that she does. She NEVER cuts your hair too short — even if it needs to be cut shorter, she will never do it without your permission. Jessica never makes you feel like you need to cry over your bad haircut as soon as you leave the salon. Instead, you leave feeling confident and satisfied. She is also fun and edgy and always great to chat with. Krista is chatty and sweet and friendly. Her bright personality makes anyone feel comfortable in her styling chair, and she does a great job. And Viri does some AWESOME high-end hairdos for your formal event needs. Lava Hair has a minimalist, beautiful, newly renovated interior and professional staff that always make you feel taken care-of and welcome as soon as you walk in the door. I've been seeing Krista at Lava for more years than I can count. I moved to the Arctic and would always be sure to book when I was back in the city. She recently took me from my medium brown to a bright peony pink, she was very thorough and thoughtful. The other staff were very attentive as I was there for a long time. Also the salon staff very helpful, kind and they keep it so very clean. They are extremely thorough with their Covid protocols, which I appreciate. I highly recommend this salon and have friends and family who now attend the salon for services too. As a tip, there is parking in the lot in front of the salon and there is lots of parking nearby.

I have seen Krista today after a long struggle with finding a good hair stylist in Calgary. I was also slightly traumatized by a my latest haircut experience at a very fancy place. She took about 20 minutes to discuss all the details and explain me all the particularities. I felt heard. She listened and after giving all my trust in her, she made a couple of magic moves and completely reshaped my haircut to what I wanted and needed. After putting the normal amount of effort into the blow dry (other stylists just casually blow it a little if it is short and don’t even bother using a round brush) she took some extra time to cut it and texturize it more where I needed. We double checked everything and made sure the hair looked perfect. Honestly, a godsend. I hope you went home today knowing you made one woman very happy! Please don’t move ????

And while it took some time to grow out the previous bad cut, she was an expert at reshaping everything to have it grow back in perfectly. I waited weeks to get this appointment. I showed at at my appointment time and was seated, then waited 17 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgement from anybody! What a waste of my time! I left without getting my hair done. The only reason they got 2 stars instead of one is because the manager called to apologize although she couldn’t take ownership of it, she made an excuse, but still apologized. I’m not going back. I absolutely HATE getting poor service!
