She is an excellent colourist and very knowledgeable with blonde hair and highlights. My hair always looks fresh and is cut very well when I leave. Love this place and Sam! My one daughter is in Norway and is counting down til she can get Sam to do her hair!!

Lather is a modern, bright, chic new Salon in Burnaby Heights. It went through a real facelift the last couple months when one of the stylists, Samantha took over ownership. I can't even remember how long I have had Sam as my hairstylist; well over 10 years!! She was a real find when I stepped into another salon in Burnaby many years ago and when she ventured away, I happily ... and confidently followed her to her current location. Sam quite literally put her blood, sweat, and tears into bringing her vision to life with the new salon. She has a story or reason for every single addition/modification she made - from the pictures on the wall, the intricate tiling, the setup of the stations, to the Lather decal on the door. Her pride of ownership is obvious. She makes you feel welcome and leaves you feeling like your business is appreciated; all characteristics of a successful business owner. Although the new location is awesome, it's really about the hair styling and service. I haven't seen any of the other stylists personally, just seen some of their work and know they have experience and expertise!! Sam however, I know. I wouldn't still be going to her if there was a single moment of disappointment (as I have moved away from the area). Sam is meticulous, a perfectionist really, creative, skilled, communicative, and understands hair type and won't YES you when you ask for something that simply can't be done. I like the honesty and education she gives me when I need it ;-). Basically, I trust Sam!! I know she would never give me a look or push me out of my comfort zone before I'm ready ... and somehow she always knows when that is.

She has honed her technique over the past 20 years and she is a consummate professional and skilled hair stylist. She is friendly and welcoming as are all the stylists. Her new space is fresh and inviting and it has a cool, modern but retro vibe. Very high energy. Run, don't walk to the renovated new space that is Lather Hair Lounge.

She has created a fresh, bright new space on the Heights which is both modern and incredibly comfortable. I’ve been going to see Sam for five years and she’s great. I always get tons of compliments on my hair and would recommend her to anyone. We get gift certificates for friends and family on holidays. Lots of cool products available too. The new revamped Lather space is bright and modern and the location is super convenient right on Hastings in North Burnaby, only a few minutes from East Van and the North Shore.

Where to start. First of all, let's start with Sam. Sam is an absolutely amazing, talented stylist. She is the only stylist I have ever been loyal too, and I will NEVER leave her. She is one of the most amazing humans I know, with an amazing attitude and personality and she recently purchased the salon that she has been working in for 10+ years (formerly Vogue). It had an extreme makeover that took blood, sweat and tears to complete and anyone who rents a chair would be lucky to work under such amazing conditions. Go. Check. It. Out.

After 3 months of watching my uncut hair turn me into Albert Einstein, I finally had my first COVID cut with Sammi. Such a relief to find Lather Hair Lounge totally dialled in to all the pandemic protocols. From the health questionnaire and temperature check to masks and social distancing, I felt safer in the salon than I do at home. All the stylists and clients were courteous and conscientious. As always, Sammi took great care to transform the unruly mess of fuzz on my head into a cut that will no longer frighten small children and nervous dogs. I’m sure it’s been tough for her business to survive the costs and bother of re-opening under all the new regulations but Sammi seemed genuinely happy to be back on the dance floor, snipping with her shears while trading stories of surviving the crisis. So glad that local businesses like hers can adapt so well to the pandemic and help keep The Heights such a great place to live. If COVID’s got you down and your spirits need a lift, a trip to Lather Lounge can give you a lot more than just a great cut and blow dry. Now if only Sammi could get a liquor license…

I've been going to see Sam for years and can't imagine going anywhere else. She really knows her stuff and gives great advice on what I have in mind. I trust her completely and always leave happy. The place itself has a great vibe with good music and a happy crew. The remodel looks great and everything is clean and pretty. Location is very convenient and I always find parking in the lot around the corner. It's also wheelchair accessible. Prices are good too. I highly recommend!! =)

This stuff has given my thin and heat damaged hair some body and shine!!! Weightless Volume shampoo and its conditioner counterpart is the ticket. And - it smells like Hawaii. Heaven!

I had blonde highlights done by lindsay. I am not happy with it. The blonde highlights are darker and not light blonde that i had asked for it look's nothing like the picture i had showed her. She also was attending to my hair while she was working on someone else hair.

First off my haircut: Dropped in and Kristy was available. I'm a barber kinda guy so was a bit apprehensive about a salon. Not anymore. She washed my hair, little scalp massage and then a fantastic haircut. Totally made me feel comfortable and at home. Price was great, service was amazing. So... I thought I would buy my GF a gift certificate as she was looking for a cut & colour. Secondly GF haircut: GF made an appointment with Kristy for a cut and colour. I had the most amazing experience at Lather! If you are in colour dispair and need correction you must see Samantha. I had a horrendous experience at another salon where I walked out as an orange disaster. Sam worked on my hair for several hours. She was super honest with me and incredibly meticulous. I can’t believe how amazing my hair looked after she was done. I genuinely did not think my hair could look this good after a single corrective session. Sam is amazing all around.
