The first thing I would point out is the person who was cutting my hair did not disinfect the chair before making me sit as I saw the chair was being used before me. The second thing is that person did a lousy job in cutting my hair, took big chunks for cutting without any regards to evenly partition the hair and maintain precision. I will never come back again.

I've been reluctant to write a review and then have to book months in advance, as Firas is the best men's stylist in Burnaby, hands down! I've been to quite a few salons, including some in DT Van, since moving here in 2015. Most were lack lustre, and a couple we're unmitigated disasters! Firas pays attention to detail, and does exactly what you request, while adding his own unique and well honed flare to the cut. Always a pleasure to see him for my monthly cut. If you're looking for a stylist, Firas will meet and surpass all your expectations. Very talented guy!

After a round of bad haircuts and bad colour after moving back to Burnaby a few years ago, I was looking for a high level and professional hairstylist in the city who could work with my fussy hair. I am very glad that I listened to all the wonderful reviews because I had the most amazing experience with Firas, the Owner and Master Stylist, this afternoon. Not only did Firas fix the problem that the previous stylist at another salon had created. He also listened to my preferences and lifestyle routine to give me the exact kind of haircut I was looking for that worked with my hair type. He was also able to pinpoint the exact kind of hair type that I had which was an oily scalp with dry ends and recommended the kind of Aveda products that are right for my hair (a definite plus that Kromatik is an Aveda salon!). I winded up purchasing the volumizing shampoo/conditioner that Firas recommended since I really liked how my hair turned out after the shampoo and haircut! I also really liked how Firas cut my hair in a way that would let my hair grow out nicely so I can return for further styling! I am so glad that I finally found a true hair professional in Burnaby who I can finally trust with my hair! I will definitely be a returning client!

I have been seeing Firas for a few years and now I also take my little kids to him. He has always done a fantastic job and is great with the kids, both of whom have some behavioural challenges. My daughter and I have wavy/curly hair and I’m super picky, and I have never been disappointed. Now that we have moved to Port Moody I continue to drive out to his salon even though I am surrounded by other options locally. He is definitely worth the drive. I have also always had excellent service via phone and email when I have contacted them for appointments, and the salon itself is always clean and welcoming. As it’s an Aveda salon, there is a healthy variety of Aveda products to purchase if you so choose. I strongly recommend Firas. He is exceptional at his craft and maintains a clean and reliable salon. I recently got a haircut from here and I was a bit disappointed by the outcome. I felt like the hairstylist didn't cut my hair evenly and it was pretty obvious from seeing it in the mirror. She kept cutting shorter and shorter to try and even it out. After I went home, I notice that there are few pieces of my hair that is clearly longer than others (I wanted a blunt lob cut). Also, since there is a pandemic, I expected all the staff to be wearing masks but this was not the case. Some were wearing masks, some masks were below their nose and some were just not wearing a mask at all. I felt pretty uncomfortable getting my hair cut here.

I went to Kromatik because of the lovely reviews on here! and I can happily say that Firas and the salon lived up to all of the positive reviews! He took my long, tired, grown out hair and turned it into a very trendy short-ish cut that i can wear my natural curls with or straightened and it looks great both ways. I also loved that Firas checked in with me during the cut and we worked together to find the best style/length for my face. He also was very patient with me as he was using techniques I'd never seen before so I was curious about the neat stuff he was doing Will definitely be back when its time for a trim!

Fit me in same day at closing, and I was hopeful with the google reviews. Firas is super on point, listens and checks with you along the way to make sure it’s trending correctly. Even gave me 10% off on Aveda grooming clay without me saying a word. The Kevin Murphy paste I bought last cut at a super bougie spot doesn’t even come close. And having thinner blond hair that I like to keep mid length every other salon and stylist wants to give me a ‘sick fade - bro.’ Perfect product and style advice for your hair style. The makeup artist Nihad ,she is very patient and professional.I was surprised that she use all high-end makeup product for me .I know Asian girls like me usually like to go to Asian makeup artist.she is not Asian ,but she did my makeup pretty ,and I like it the most ,so I always come back for big event .hahah And The price is very reasonable compare with the other chinese place that I have visited. I don't change my hairstyles very often,I just leave to grow out all black.because I don't want damage it too much .but I'm very glad that I did my hair this time with stylist Firas.He did the color that I wanted and also my hair was not damaged at all (that usually happen when you change from dark to light color) He is usually pretty busy ,book ahead is better . Highly recommended to all the girls

Tldr; Charged about $60 for a terrible 5-10 minute haircut. Save yourself your time and money and go somewhere else! I came to Kromatik because of the great reviews and as it was a convenient location for me but I left with ruined hair. I was first greeted by the male stylist who led me to my chair. The salon was completely empty. He asked me what I wanted and I told him a trim and yes to layers. Pretty basic stuff. The actual haircut itself only took about 5 or 10 minutes where he grabbed large pieces of hair and started snipping off inches. I was surprised he didn't even section my hair off properly as most other stylists do but I trusted him and waited. As for layering, he never used layering shears but just grabbed random pieces and sizes of hair, twisted and cut it. I've seen this technique for layering before but this never done this recklessly and carelessly... After the cut, the stylist asked me what I thought. I was surprised he was finished because it looked choppy, uneven, and unfinished. The stylist was offended when I pointed out that the left side of my hair was a couple inches longer than my right and even said "you think you know more about hair than me?" He also blamed that the lighting/sun light was making my hair look more uneven. I was appalled by his reaction and his excuses rather than trying to offer solutions. At this point, I did not want him to touch my hair and ruin in further so I told him it was fine and I am sorry if I offended him in any way. The biggest problem is that there was no empathy from the stylist to the client. Even as I was paying, he was still huffing his chest and saying "you think you know more about hair than me." I didn't even want to pay for such terrible service but it was just him and I (plus his receptionist) in the salon so I just paid ~$60 and left. Definitely do not recommend.

Dropped by here yesterday for the first time, after having bad experiences at two other local barbers/salons. Firas took his time and gave a great cut! No complaints at all. Will be using him again in the future. FYI, the price may be a bit more compared to other barbers, but it is worth the premium to have confidence in your cut.

Firas is an amazing and knowledgeable hair stylist. He gets a good sense of your hair type and your daily hair routine to give you a haircut to suit your preference. My first haircut experience left me with one of the best haircuts I've received. Firas also specializes in hair colouring and did a fantastic job at coloring my dry, thin, black hair into a grey blonde ombre. I am very pleased. Service is friendly, prices are reasonable, and scalp massages are to die for! Highly recommend!
