Linda was disrespectful, close-minded and unwilling to actually listen to my suggestions to tweak my hair after her first attempt - instead she complains and gossips in the Korean language with another hair stylist. Before the haircut and during the haircut she would remind me to tip her, I do not appreciate her negative attitude. In hindsight, I regret tipping 10%, it should've been zero. Also, she was 35min LATE even after I've made an appointment. Poor experience and outcome! Do NOT go to Linda and I won't bother coming back to this salon!

I just wanted to thank the DZ Hair team and the stylist Kayla for doing an amazing job during this difficult time, called pandemic I am sure we all heard of by now. (Aka Be kind, be calm and be safe era) Few months ago, I moved to Burnaby from Kits that I was looking for a hair salon close by. The closest hair salon was DZ hair (now I know how lucky I was) and met Kayla for the first time just before 7 days before my wedding day! (I fell in love with love of my life at the beginning of this year and decided to marry him last September. Yes, crazy but awesome!) I was super nervous of course no bride wants to mess her hair... then Kayla was professional, honest and communicative that I followed her recommendation. My hair looked amazing on my wedding day..the colour and trimming were just perfect as I imagined. Today, second time with Kayla, I wanted to do the root touch and cut, not trim, my damaged hair..of course I just asked her to do her thing. Oh my goodness, it turn out to be the gorgeous ever it can be! I literally said three times in the shop “My husband will love this! I look so cute with this hair!” She did an amazing job again! Thank you thank you Kayla and DZ Hair! What a gem :) I recommend DZ Hair - clean, kind, professional, great results and prices are reasonable :)

You get what you pay for, $36 for wash and cut. It took over an hour for them to finish my haircut appointment. I made an appointment on the day of. It was my first time going there and had I known they were so busy, I would’ve asked for a different day/time. The stylist was obviously way too busy for me. She was working on 2-3 other customers and had to stop my haircut in the middle to assist other clients. The most absurd part was she never washed my hair from start to finish. I’ve never gone to a place where they don’t wash your hair before the cut or at least after the cut. She went on to style my hair after a quick cut and said I'm not able to see the style because my hair is oily. I asked her to fix the cut to my liking and she went on saying the style is there I just can’t see it right now and I could tell by her expression she didn’t want to fix my hair and because she was so busy with other clients. She said it’s an extra $5 to wash my hair so that’s why she didn’t ask me. I honestly didn’t mind paying $5.... Anyway, another lady ended up washing my hair and it was one of the quickest and roughest washes. After the wash, they just left me sitting there with a dryer over my head for a long time . I stared at the owner and she finally asked someone to blow dry my hair. The stylist came back to fix my hair up. The hair style turned out fine just a bit shorter than what I hoped but I don’t mind it. I ended up tipping 10% anyway and don’t think I will be going back.

Their website wasn’t working, so I called their place twice both which they didn’t pick up the phone, the second time I got an automated sms message that stated that they will cal me back but never did. I figured i should first check google maps about the live status of the salon, which stated that it was not busy at all. So i went to the salon and when i came in, the stench of products were too great to bear my friend had to go outside. When i inquired about a haircut for a male, she said it was all booked without sparing us a glance. Worst first impression I ever had at a hair salon

Very positive experience with Kayla - she values her art and client satisfaction. At first the haircut was not what I expected due to our language barrier and my miscommunication. However Kayla agreed to re-do the haircut (even though the salon was closed at this point) to ensure I was happy with the results. I would recommend Kayla for her excellent service.

Nicole was my stylist. I felt like she was rushing and she didn't wash my hair prior to the cut saying that I didn't need it (I've never not had a wash pre-cut). There was hair everywhere, in the bathroom and on the desk in front of my chair. However at the end of the day, I did get in almost right away and this was actually one of the best and quickest cuts I ever had and it was well priced. I have long thick hair and it was 28$ (not including tip).

I just had an appointment with Jenny today at 11am. She was super nice and kind! It had been a very long time since I had a hair cut so she was very understanding to my lack of knowledge on how to style my hair. She took the time to show me how to get more volume with my new cut and what items I can use (and where to get it) to achieve the look I want and liked. Highly recommend!!

I've been going to DZ for so long and always have a great experience! All the staff are very lovely and nice. I've had my hair done in a wide array of colours, lengths, styles, and textures (straight/wavy/curly), and every single one has looked very good. I usually have a general idea of what I want, but ask Jade (who usually does my hair) to do what suits me best. I constantly get compliments and I love to see what style my hair will be next. The place is very nice and professional too. I highly recommend DZ Hair Salon~ If you're like me, even ask what may suit you best. My hair always comes out great.

Came in to get a trim. Ask specifically to only cut the sides, back, and bangs of my hair (and not the top of my head). Stylist cuts most of my hair on the top of my head. My hair went from long to short. They won't to instructions. Poor experience. Hair will take a year to grow back.

I was so worried about getting a balayage done as my previous experience with another hair salon didn't do a great job with my ombre/balayage hair and I wanted it re-done. I had some hair inspiration photos and showed Jenny. Jenny did a great job with the colour and balayage. She gave me suggestions and different options for me to decide. She took her time to make sure everything was going well. She is knowledgeable, detail orientated and professional. Upon leaving, she also gave me recommendations on what products to use to maintain my colour/hair. Thank you Jenny for bringing the vision I had come to life. I can't stop obsessing over my new hair colour. I got so many compliments. I highly recommend Jenny/ hair salon to everyone. I will definitely be coming back to this hair salon for more services in the future! Everyone was kind and friendly and overall, a good experience. The owner was very efficient in replying to my messages on Instagram and answered my questions I had prior to booking.

Bad customer service. I am a returning customer with a hairdresser called Sue. I made an appointment for haircut with her at 4:00 pm. When I arrived, she asked me to come back in half an hour or waited there, and I said my appointment was at 4:00, not 4:30. She said she was very busy with two customers doing colouring and stuff. I guess she doesn't value all her customers, only those who would spend good money there. Will not come back again.

I got a very satisfactory haircut from Kayla. I walked in to the salon as a lioness and walked out like a princess. She said she worked in Kangnam Seoul for many years. I could tell she was very knowledgeable, friendly, shared with me many tips such as how to maintain and style my hair (my hair is very damaged due to bleaching). The only thing is that this is an extremely busy salon, so one should expect to wait a bit even if you have made reservations. Kayla wasn't very confident about her English, but she speaks enough to communicate with her customers. I feel I have received above and beyond service. I highly recommend Kayla!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HAIR SALON. THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE ALL FAKE, WRITTEN BY THEIR FRIENDS, OR PAID ADVERTISING. KAYLA IS A HORRIBLE HAIR DRESSER AND SHE MESSED UP MY HAIR. I asked her for a trim and she carelessly chopped it off and a lot of parts on my hair are uneven. SHE CHOPPED OFF HALF OF MY HAIR!!! I am going to a professional Japanese hair salon Alpha D to get it fixed. This place is wreckless, remember everyone - what you pay for is what you get. Kayla does not listen, she is ignorant, arrogant and rude!

Do not get a haircut from Linda. She only cares about getting her tips. I went in for a haircut to get rid of my damaged ends, I asked specifically not to cut my hair too short and to give me curtain bangs. She did it so fast after seeing another customer coming in for a haircut without an appointment. I ended having a shorter hair than expected and my bangs are uneven (right side is thicker). I have to tuck in portions of my hair behind my ear to make my bangs look even.

Came in to trim my perm. I told stylist I only want my sides, back, and bangs cut and not the hair on the top of my head. Stylist proceeds to cut all my hair off (including my perm) and my hair does not even look like the picture I Showed her (probably because she glanced at it for 1 second) terrible experience. God knows how long I will have to wait for me hair to grow back. I paid them $30 to F up my hair.

This salon is very messy and disorganized. They obviously ignore waiting costumers. So i had to wait 30 minutes beyond my appointment to get their attention. The stylist then rushed to chop my hair without washing it first. And finished the haircut with putting some sticky paste. Not sure what it was!

I am very happy with my overall experience at DZ's. I highly recommend Kayla who provided above and beyond customer service. I could tell Kayla was very experienced and skilled (I attended VCC hairstyling program last year, but I am no longer pursuing this career). I am glad that I listened to her advise despite that I did not agree with her at the beginning. She gave me a lot of useful recommendations how to take care of my hair because my hair is very damaged.

As a white guy they cut my hair really good, and now i got my korean bro in law to go their and they did a good job on his hair too. Decent price. I went for a hair cut, first time so not familiar with any specific hair stylist but assigned to Jenny. May be she is newer not not much experience, the cut was very poorly done and both side were quite different, I have to fixed it 3 times myself in order to look more decent and the price is not cheaper than other salon.

I got a digitel perm by Linda. Perm turned out great. I really liked it but she CHARGED 20% MORE than the price I heard. I had to ask the reason as a receptionist said there is no extra charge when making an appointment by phone. This is what she said "I charged more as people has different hair type". If so, she had to mention before working on my hair. Even though my hair turn out great, l was not happy about it at all. I felt I got scammed. If you are planning to visit this place, I strongly suggest to make sure the price before they touch your hair. I would like to give them five stars but with dishonest, they deserve one star. In addition, they do not provide a storage cabinet for the personal belongings, so my bag and coat were piled on the table where I sit.

These women are skilled. I had an magic straight perm done here and it took four hours which is the normal for my medium thick volume (lots of thin strands) and slightly longer than shoulder length hair. When I arrived I saw that Linda eyed me up and down as if to size me up. When I asked her what the price was BEFORE the hair washing, she said she would tell me after and then proceeded to wash my hair while discussing with another Korean stylist what to charge me. I know this because the second stylist started eyeing me up and down as if to judge what my upper price threshold would be. After the hair wash Linda sits me down on the chair and says “your hair is SOOOOO thick” and makes this exaggerated face, then tells me it’ll cost me $220. This is a reasonable price but definitely on the higher limit I was expecting to pay, but I got it done anyway because my hair was washed and soaking wet and I wanted to avoid the awkwardness of leaving. Therefore while the magic straight perm results were pretty good with no fried ends and the price was reasonable ($220 + 20% tip), I really DISLIKED their unethical business practice! Firstly if I ask for a price quote I expect one before getting my wash because then I won’t feel like I’m forced to accept the quote. Secondly please stop pretending my hair is super thick - it’s a little thick but not crazy thick like Linda made it out to be just to justify bumping up her quote/price on me because I was wearing some branded accessories! Wished they were more honest. However service was good and they offered me water, coffee or tea and gave me a pillow while I used my phone on my lap.

Gents, I recommend Chris. I am writing this post to help the perfectionists pick out a great hair stylist, and to support Chris for giving me an awesome cut. When I decided that I needed a cut for an important job interview, I thought I would find a good stylist in metrotown because of the YOUNG KOREAN population there (I emphasize YOUTH because old ajummas and ajussis - dinosaurs that existed since the early 70s - can't cut to save their careers, and KOREANS because they are the most reliable ethnic group in the hair industry as the Japanese are in the auto industry). Chris is a round, 5-8 f.o.p. (no offense) styling a long perm with short sides, and probably fashioning a dotted shirt. Be polite, and he'll landscape and wash that excess fibre to your satisfaction for $25 (includes tip).
