@kghairbykalyca did a really good job on my hair. My hair is sooo long and I asked for a rly complicated layering cut and I was so happy with it. I’d totally recommend KG Salon to any of my friends. Kathy, the owner, taught hair cutting in Quebec and Europe, and makes sure everything is perfect.

If i could rate 10 stars I would! I called around to so many salons this week and everyone was overbooked for weeks in advance but when I called KG Hair I was fortunate enough to get in the same day. Kathy was so understanding and kind over the phone she also made a point of saying hello and chatting to me once I was at the salon, such great customer service. When I got the salon they had wonderful social distancing protocols and even checked my temperature to ensure everyones safety. Then, I got to meet ASHLEY! and she's a saint and so so talented! She was incredible! She not only talked with me through all my options for the 'look' I wanted but she was completely understanding about my DIY semi permanent dyed hair and how best to make it work for my desired colour. I wanted to get a soft dusty rose-gold colour with a natural effect and she NAILED IT! She colour corrected the areas that needed it, she softened my root colour to a soft level7 blonde-brown and she put the most BEAUTIFUL soft rose gold throughout my hair. She cut my layers perfectly and then styled it and I feel like a soft sultry queen!! She did such a spectacular job, the first thing my husband said to me when I got home was "woah!, it's beautiful!" I'm so very happy with my whole experience at KG hair from start to finish. I also very much appreciated that Ashley talked with me clearly about the cost and what my budget was before getting started and she stayed well within my budget. I was looking for a new colour and style expert for my hair as I was beginning the transition to 'going grey'. I began to go grey in my thirties and was constantly colouring it. Fast forward to my mid forties on top of a pandemic, my grey hair began to take over my hair. I decided to transition with the help of Kathy Grant. A collegue recommended I look up KG Instagram and look at pictures of other woman who Kathy had helded Transition. After our initial consult, I knew I found the right person. We did the process in three visits and throughout, my hair was starting to get to what I really wanted. Except, I didn't really know what exatly I wanted, but Kathy did! She had a vision from the very beginning and while it may have altered a little bit here and there based on how my hair reacted, she produced an absolute masterpiece colour on my hair. I am now confident that my grey can grow in and it will be the highlight of my hair. I feel so confident with this new look. I feel so strong. If you are looking for a true hair artist, Kathy is the professional you seek.

I always love my hair and love my colour. Kathy cares about hair health, what suits you, and is on trend. She always make sure it’s something that you can manage on your own. She listens, she discusses options. But most importantly she really is passionate about her art, and her clients. The new salon is beautiful, with comfortable chairs, sinks etc. The extra precautions taken for covid are well thought out. And it doesn’t take away anything from the experience. All the staff are friendly and professional and you can tell they are all passionate with their craft. And often work as a team. It’s worth the hour and a half drive!!

When I first moved to Nanaimo January 1997 I was a little paranoid about finding a new hair stylist! So I just watched people and their hair, and when I would see someone's hair looking great, especially looking great over multiple days, I would ask them "who does your hair"? This process took about a month or two; two hair stylist rose to the top! It was interesting, that these random asks of complete strangers would actually find commonality! Kathy Grant was the answer that I received more than any other, so not hard to guess who I book an appointment with back in March 1997! Now it is me who complete strangers have asked repetitively for the last 22+ years, "who does your hair" !!
