Best experience I recommend them to everyone. Rita was my stylist and she was amazing. I just showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got to work and did exactly what I wanted her to do! She also made touch ups based on her own professional knowledge which I was extremely impressed about. Beautiful atmosphere! Very clean environment. I am extremely pleased with my hair and will 100 percent be going back. I also got a 15 percent off coupon for my next treatment since it was my first time with mako salon.

Having very long hair, I've always been very vary of trusting hair salons to cut/style my hair (in my past experiences most have been disappointing) UNTIL I found RITA at Mako! She is the first stylist I have come across who understood my concerns fully and gave me a cut I am in LOVE with. I think, my hair have found their 'the one'! Perfect place to go for Keratin treatment. I did mine in November 2020. I am so satisfied with the result that I thought I should share it publicly. My problem was frizzy, rough, and dry hair. After Keratin my hair is shiny, soft and that perfect fall which I was looking for. I enjoyed my hair quality in this 6 months. Normally they recommend to have Keratin treatment every 4-6 months but honestly my hair is still in good quality. Only tip is, use their recommended shampoo and conditioner. That help saves the quality. Highly recommend Mako for Keratin. I am going to go again after this lockdown. Thank you Mako for the awesome hair❤️

I had a wash & dry, minor hair treatment, and haircut from them. My hair has always been super damaged and I haven't been to a hair salon for 2 years now. I'm new here in Canada, so Mako Hair is my very first hair experience here. All the stylists are super nice, especially Rita. She's very passionate in what she does and she handled not only my hair but also me as a client really good! She professionally negotiated with me about the cut that I want without over-interfering with my preference, and it means a lot to me because I've always been used to stylists not giving me the hair that I want back at home because of several reasons. Certainly not Rita though, because she made it work for my hair! She also made it flexible for styling that I might wanna do (it's a very short haircut). Also their products don't have harsh smells and feel to the skin. In fact, I left the salon not only looking like a dream come true, but also smelling like a fresh bouquet rather than chemicals. Would definitely recommend this place and will come back in the future!

Their job is good but they dont have professional behavior. They are not fair in their prices, they dont properly communicate about prices before the job. And at the end they just asked me to swipe the card, when I asked about prices, she was talking about tips. Repeatedly she was talking about tips instead of price. The lady at the reception was very immature and highly unprofessional. Had a very bitter experience.

Bought a groupon for $79 for a ombré and somehow walked out paying another $200. Got a trim that any hairdresser I know wouldn't charge ten dollars for and somehow got charged $50 for a haircut and then another God knows what for the colour that is involved in the Original ombré. Stay away from there groupon and this place all together. You may get me once but will never return.

I've been visiting Rita for 4 years now and have always been consistently satisfied with the service and quality. Rita and her team are always professional, positive, friendly and open to feedback which I find very important. I have blonde highlights which can be hard to manage but Rita always listens to my requests and does what is ultimately best to keep my hair healthy. My hair has become stronger and healthier in the time I've been seeing her and I couldn't be happier with my colour. I would recommend this salon to anyone if you're looking to invest in your hair!

I went in with my cousin, and we had a great experience! The receptionist was SO welcoming and helpful, and the hair dresser, Gabby, was phenomenal. They both were so attentive to what my cousin wanted done and didn't push their salon products on us, instead suggesting treatments she could pursue to help her thick, coarse hair. She did end up doing a Brazilian blow out which was supposed to last a month but barely lasted two weeks. That is the only reason I would drop a star, but the customer service and cut were so great that they deserve 5 stars. I highly recommend them, especially since they're so affordable at $50 for a wash, cut and style!

I went there for the first time with a dealfinds coupon. My first impression of the place wasn't too great, they were late opening for my appointment and there aren't many people working there, also it seemed like some people just came to 'hang out.' I have never had my hair dyed before, but because I had a coupon for it, I tried it. They knew I wanted something subtle and that is what they gave me. Although they may not have given me everything the coupon entailed (deep moisturizing treatment and scalp massage) I was happy with the results and would certainly recommend this place and have since gone back.

Few times now where appointments are made and not fulfilled due to disorganization from management. On two occasions my mother has waited for an hour for an appointment supposed to be done when they opened. Salon was late opening due to no one able to come in with keys to open it. I'm not the only review here with this sort of issue. They need to figure things out. You lost business due to COVID closures. Now you lost a loyal customer for lack of organization and management . Get it together. Koi has now gained a new customer. She called my.mother an hour past the actual appointment to say come on back if in the area. Sorry but why would we come back after arriving early and then waiting an hour outside 40 minutes past when the appointment should have started and way after when the salon should have been open. Useless.

This owner is a big time cheater/ scam. For a rebounding hair treatment they quoted me 300 then when it came to paying they charged me 1200! The strength of my hair has been completely compromised. This is all due to the girls negligence for not doing a sample on my hair and she did not perform as agreed. A beauty salon must conduct tests to determine the effect of a product on a clients skin or hair. It’s not fair to charge a client $1200 and not only fail to deliver what promised but also further damage their hair and not take responsibility. Seems like this salon is a pro at charging but not at doing their jobs properly. I have attached some photos of what my hair has turned into. It has completely affected my confidence, I have to cut my now tangled damaged hair because it’s embarrassing to be seen with this hair. Awful! They haven’t sent my money back and are very rude. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUIN YOUR HAIR AND WONT EVEN APOLOGIZE!!!!

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: The owner responded below to my original review which complained that the website said $65 for a woman's haircut and I was charged $75. As per the owners response, BEWARE that the website says *prices start from* - meaning they CAN and WILL charge you way more for a really bad quality haircut WITHOUT TELLING YOU BEFOREHAND. Anyone thinking of trying this place - please read all of the negative reviews, take note of the unprofessional responses from the owner (no apologies to anyone, zero accountability for the lack of cleanliness, etc.), and save your money (and hair) and go somewhere else. Orignial review: The website says that a women's haircut is $65 but I was charged $75 (I do not have long or thick hair). My stylist dropped the comb she was using on the floor twice and did not clean it before putting it back in my hair. She also did not cut my hair how I wanted it. I guess it's my fault for not being more assertive about the above issues, but I won't go back and wouldn't recommended this place.

I couldn't find anyone that could do/understand my beautiful hair because certain places I went too cut my hair too short 2 top it off they use "Razor" on my precious hair ????. Mako hair salon was racemanded by a friend and told me to try them out! And I decided to do so since I've tried couple places like what the heck... I'm so glad I did Rita knew what she's was doing because she's has curly hair herself yay ????! Thank God for mako hair salon they've saved my hair and thank you Gabriel for the beautiful massage and blow dry!!!. I love my hair ❤️❤️ Thank you thank you and thank you!!!..

I went into get a consultation with Rita regarding my extensions, and let me tell you she’s a hair guru. I got my extensions done at a Mississauga salon and what a rip off. They put in tape in and fusion because they ran out of tape in. And I came to mako hair she is so honest and very knowledgeable. This is my place to go to from now on. Totally recommend it. And they are super friendly.

Booked a bridal hair and make up trial. First I was taken to get my make up done. The woman who did my make up did not seem to know what the occasion my make up was for so I advised her it was a bridal trial. I told her I was going for a soft, neutral look with nude colours, I specifically said no dark or bright colours. I shut my eyes and when I opened them I had purple lipstick and dark eyeliner all around my eyes, over all the look was too dramatic. Not terrible, but not what I described at all and I felt like I looked twice my age. When it came time for my hair I was taken to a seat that was off to the side. Not in front of any mirror, but I trusted the woman doing my hair because of the good reviews. I showed her a picture of the style I wanted and told her that something similar would do. She finished surprisingly quickly and it was not like the picture at all. It's too bad I couldn't even see what she was doing until she finished. I was extremely polite and patient the entire time. I felt like there wasnt much I could do as they had me sign a waiver that said there would be no redos unless a "technical error happened" before we started. Very disappointed in the service and out $200+ for a trial. I felt pushed aside and I didnt feel like they cared about what they were doing. I will be taking mine and my bridal parties business else where.

Sharing this review from my boyfriends account. First of all, the salon looks like it’s stuck in the 90’s, so gross and old looking just saying... I just wanted simple highlights, but they gave me orange nasty chunks. They didn’t tone my hair even when I asked, all they did was put purple shampoo on it, which did nothing. I am so disappointed with my experience here. They don’t have a real price list so they charge you whatever they feel like. They said their price list wasn’t updated on their website (highlights were $135 on there). I paid over $200 and had to go somewhere else to fix it. The man who works there that doesn’t speak English blow dried my hair, burnt me twice and was yanking my hair like he was mad at it!!!! After my experience here I read a review of this place from a lady named Izabella Krzyskow having pretty much the same issue I had, and the owner wrote them back saying that they’ve never served her, their story doesn’t add up and basically laughing at her situation. Seems to me like a bitter family owned business, not a professional salon. What professional salon would reply to someone like that? Can’t wait to see what they say about my review... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I was planning to visit this place for a couple of months as I tracked their google reviews. Finally today I managed to go here. I went as a walk in and was lucky to be fitted into their schedule. Reeta (hope I spell the name correctly) was my hair stylist here today and she did an amazing job. She is so friendly and also worked so well that it made me fall in love with my hair again! I had a horrible experience at this salon and I would not recommend going here. I was charged $300 for a balayage when they claimed their starting prices were $160. They charged over $100 extra because my shoulder length hair was apparently “too thick”. They could also tell that I was unhappy while they were treating me and did nothing to comfort me, reassure me, or ask if I wanted any touch ups. When I asked if there was any way I could get any other discount on the $300, they threatened to call the police right away. It was a complete waste of my $300 and I would NOT recommend. Save your money.

!!WARNING!! READ THIS IF THIS WILL BE YOUR FIRST TIME GOING HERE! PLEASE STAY AWAY ESPECIALLY IF YOU BOUGHT FROM GROUPON!! This is definitely not the place to get ombre styled hair done... Everyday when I look in the mirror and think of you, Mako Hair salon and the thought of me violently cutting my hair off. I will repeat many times do not buy the $79 Groupon deal for ombre hair. This place may seem to be okay judging on all the 5 star reviews at first glance. But, I warn you. Its horrendous how much you pay extra from the Groupon deal. I should've walked right out the door and drive to Alaska the minute they said it was going to cost extra. Just like @POLYTEKK1 and myself, I've payed $200 extra plus the $79 Groupon deal. I payed up to almost $300 for a ombre hair that wasn't even slight the closest to the hair color I asked for. About a month later, it turned into a brassy, yellow color. I got ripped off harder than a 2 week old band-aid. You can get a way reasonable price and a for sure a better job done at a professional hair colorist. Now me being naive in the past for this mistake. I should've went to a professional colorist but now I've learned my lesson to be skeptical and careful about shady Groupon deals. Just like Mako Hair Salon's Instagram biography says, "Be nice to your hair stylist. We can ruin your self esteem for 6 months in 15 minutes." Well if you don't want your self-esteem ruined. I suggest you do not buy the Groupon ombre deal... In the end hair grows, life goes on, and whatever I got over it. Learned my lesson. Never going to that hair salon ever again, peace out Mako Hair!

After having my new look for a few weeks to let it set I have to say I'm rather disappointed that I paid over $400 for patch work. I felt my hair dye wasn't blended enough and looks terrible when straightened. Not to mention on my other side my hair looks so choppy when straightened. I'm upset because after many years of growing my natural hair out I then trusted the lady to do a fantastic job...but she fell short. My hair does look good curly but that hides imperfections and too much heat damage for me. I almost wish I could get a partial refund. Update: I don't appreciate the owner trying to contact me twice about how she doesn't like my review. It's truthful and honest.

They weren't honest with their prices but they were good. I came to Rita for help in fixing a terrible haircut that made me look chubby and older. She fixed it and suggested the permanent straightening. I was hesitant at first, but with 3 small kids its honestly a huge time saver. I love it and would recomend it to anyone that wants smooth and sleek looking hair all the time. I decided to take my daughter to have it done and they tried to casually charge me an extra $200 over what we agreed on. We did end up agreeing on a price and i would still recommend it but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Which is unfortunate because up until that point they were amazing.

I went in for the Brazilian Blow out hair straightening treatment which they advertise and don’t have... Rita pitched me the moon, sun and stars. I had told her that I had the treatment done in March and needed my roots touched up because they had grown out and were very curly. I also told her my hair had been bleached 3 times plus dyed and some strands rebleeched a month before. She said it would be fine that my hair would be silky and smooth and shinny. She applied the straightening treatment and my hair is now destroyed. All the blonde parts of my hair have broken off. My hair is frizzy and matted when dry and when it is wet and I brush my hair the strands stretch like elastic and break. They told me to not wash my hair for 3 days after I left so the treatment could completely seal. I lost a lot of hair and now have a weave because I had to cut my medium length hair short... I called her 3 days after my treatment and told her my hair was destroyed and I wanted a refund. I told her I would be in on Tuesday at 10:30 when they open. I arrived on Tuesday to see that the salon was closed. The best part was they had clients waiting for them outside. I tried calling with no answer. I got my husband to call from his work and he was told that they had a break and enter. When he told the girl on the phone that I was waiting outside she promptly told him to never call the salon again or she would call the police. I would never recommend this place and I think the girl who did my treatment should have her hairdresser license revoked.

Then I was told Rita can't make it today that I can go back tomorrow. She couldn't even call me n tell me she can't make it. Went here on a groupon. I rarely colour my hair and thought that this place seemed okay based on reviews. I asked for subtle "Ombre" highlights and got very bright foil highlights on my dark brown hair. I had shown several pictures of very subtle effects and made it very clear that I was seeking a natural finish. Im guessing by the look on the colourists' face that they left the bleach was either poorly mixed for a subtle result or left in for too long...I was then charged extra for toner which made my hair look pretty good and seemed to fix things - I actually left the salon content. Unfortunately, a couple weeks and a few washes later I am now stuck with unnatural looking yellow highlights and people actually mentioning how bright my highlights are :(. I am not a happy customer...going to try some clove shampoo and will look into colour correction if this doesn't work.

Thank god I found the salon I’ve been looking for. Booked an appointment to get my highlites and I am so happy that it came out better than anticipated. The staff are amazing and the place is beautiful. Definitely would recommend this place. And parking is at the rose theater.
