I just moved to Barrie and was looking for a new stylist. I found this place, conveniently just up the street from me, and got probably the best and easiest cut I've ever had. The colour was awesome too. I've had so many compliments! I loved Natalie and have definitely found my new favourite! Updated August 2020 Still a five star review. Natalie has moved on and I have found that Alison, Amy, and Mandy are all five star stylists as well. I was afraid to try someone new but my fears were unfounded. You always feel at ease there, even with the new guidelines in effect for Covid. The space is (and always has been) spotless! The facility is very spacious so even before you were never crowded. The service is impeccable, the staff all super friendly, and I highly recommend their services.

I hesitated to write this review and even waited 2 days to see if I still felt pissed – which I do. I hesitated because I used to go to this salon all the time for wash and blow-dries and never had a bad experience but a lot has changed and not for the good. It’s been about a year since I’ve been there. My review. When I made the appointment, I wanted a wash, blow dry and to have my hair wanded. I was clear there was a specific way I wanted it wanded – I was offered a junior stylist which I accepted because 1) I was assured she was excellent with a wand 2) I used to use Kale and Charlotte when they were junior stylists and they always did a good job. The girl I had doing my hair I would describe as below a junior stylist – I do my hair better. You go to the salon to have your hair done better then you could do yourself! The wash and dry – when I smelled that stinky product, the girl mentions that there are other shampoos in the line that smell better and not as pungent - instead of switching she continues explaining away why she was using it. Really? I even went as far as to say I didn’t want my hair to smell like this and it just didn’t matter. The blow-dry – let’s call it floppy. I get my hair blow dried all the time and always it is pulled up and round brushed. Instead of brushing it through while drying she just used the brush to hold the end pieces in place and the blow dried the hair while lose on top. Also, I was clear about the front that I have fine baby hairs around my face and I want them blown straight and smooth – nope! All of them were kinky. At this point I started to get upset. It was clear that this girl does not know how to blow-dry hair. Anyways she gets a senior stylist who fixes the front of my hair and explains to the junior stylist why it came out so bad in the front – like I am a training dummy at Salon school. I was there to pay to have my hair professionally done! I ask to have the stylist changed and for the senior stylist to finish my hair – NOPE! I am pressured and guilted by the senior stylist to have the junior finish my hair. The wanding – I provided specific instruction as to how I wanted my hair wanded which I showed to both the junior and senior stylist – including photos!!!! I was assured that the junior stylist knew what to do. She starts wanding my hair – I look and the curls have long 3” gaps in them and are loose and floppy. I was clear that I wanted them tight so they could drop later – it was early in the day and I was doing my hair for the night time. I noticed the wand she was using was way to thick and she was also wanding small parts then, stopping and starting again further down the strand – not a good job at all. Also, I didn’t want the tips of the hair to be curled – I was looking for my hair to end up as a beachy wave by night time – again I gave a picture as reference and she said she knew how to do it – I do my hair like this at other salons almost every weekend and it has never been screwed up like this. She gets the smaller wand and starts wanding tighter but leaves 4”s on the ends strait – 4”s!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I had it – and I demanded that the senior stylist finish my hair. My appointment started at 12:30 and it was 1:45 – I was going to be late to my next appointment. I was told another 15-20 minutes for the other stylist to start to try to fix my hair. I was so upset I honestly wanted to cry. I just decided to pay for the crap blow-dry and left with my stinky ugly hair. They should have paid me for wasting my time and using me as a training prop for their new employee! Thankfully all wasn’t lost because my sister came over and picked my hair later. This salon based on this experience has gone way down!! • I recognized no faces • There was absolutely no care or concern for me as a customer • Bad listeners – no one was listening to me • No flexibility – instead of seeing I was having a bad experience they acted like I should sit and waste my time being a training dummy for their staff to learn • Awful, awful job.

Alison did my wash, cut, and style - my hair feels and looks like heaven! I was very nervous as my hair was long overdue for a trim, but Alison is so talented and detail-oriented that my worries disappeared within minutes of talking to her. I am a long time client at Envy and have always been happy with the atmosphere and service until today. Let me explain. Back in March/April I had to cancel a couple of appointments because I had the flu/pneumonia. When I canceled the second time I told the receptionist I would reschedule when I was well again. Today on my way home from the Dr. (who just gave me a clean bill of health) I stopped into the salon to make an appointment. At the time the receptionist asked for a $50 security deposit. I’ve never heard of such a thing and told her I was a long time client and didn’t think it was applicable to me. There was a stylist present who stated that she believed that policy was for new clients, so my appointment was made and I left. Shortly thereafter I received a call from the salon manager informing me that the security deposit was required as I had been delinquent with frequent cancellations and that the deposit was required to ensure I would not miss my next appointment. What?! Nothing could be further from the truth! Yes I canceled my last two appointments, but with proper notice. I believe I may have canceled an appointment a year ago when my FATHER DIED, again with ample notice. But to be spoken to and treated like I’m some sort of delinquent that needs to be reigned in and taught a lesson is deplorable. I’ve never been so humiliated in my life! What about all the appointments over the last 5-6 years that I HAVEN’T missed? Three-four times a year at $250 a sitting! This is how you treat your LOYAL customers? And who gets that $50 if the appointment is missed? I’m certain it’s not the stylist. Cale is the BEST stylist I have ever had, he really understands my needs, is thorough and takes pride in his work. It saddens me that he will no longer be my stylist but after the way I was demeaned by your manager today I will never visit your establishment again. I certainly won’t recommend it to anyone and will make sure your ridiculous policies and contemptuous treatment of your clients are known. Good luck with that.

I've been going to Envy since 2015. Every member of the team is committed to their clients! From the time I book to the time I leave, the service is always first class. And when the stylist says they want you to call if you have any issues, they absolutely mean it. I love to experiment with cut and colour and am never disappointed. The stylists work as a team: consulting each other when needed, and aren't afraid to refer their clients to another stylist on the team if they feel their skills better suit the client. My wife went in for a consultation. First off, they didn't keep the scheduled time. I had to wait in the parking lot a while after her scheduled appointment. Secondly, the male "hairstylist" is lucky that I didn't come back and have a word with him man to man. My wife couldn't get what she wanted done and that's fine. He's been in the business, allegedly for fifteen years. However, he is very unprofessional and has VERY concerning attitude. This guy had the audacity to say to my wife "who's looking at you anyway?" two times after telling her he can't do what she wanted. I've only gone twice to this salon, but my experiences were mixed. My first appointment was with Cale and it was amazing. Honestly probably one of the best haircuts I've gotten. He was very personable and professional as well. The second stylist I had yesterday would not be one I would want to book with again. I don't know her name, but it made me wish I had waited the extra time and booked with Cale again. My haircut the second time came out uneven. I felt awkward saying anything about it while I was there, but one of the framing layers she gave me was significantly longer than the other side. My hair was cut slightly off kilter as well. Maybe she was distracted or something that day which can happen, but the appointment felt rushed. Especially since it didn't feel like she spent time trying to understand what I wanted. I left with a different cut than I had in mind. The other thing that was strange was after the wash she didn't give me a towel for my hair at all so water bled through the cape and completely soaked my shirt during the cut. Not the most comfortable experience. I'll definitely be booking with Cale again, but I'm not so sure about trying other stylists without outside recommendations anymore.

Alexandria was professional and started by asking me about what I wanted to do with my hair, was there a special occasion? I asked her for suggestions and we went with her top pick. update from a previous review I had done recently on Envy. I had my hair cut and coloured. Initially it did not turn out well at all, it was 2 different colours and the cut did not work with my hair texture I was very unhappy. However when envy learned of this they immediately offered to correct it. Alison I would give 5 stars to. She was amazing. I was very hesitant to have my cut corrected as I thought the only way to have this done was to cut it shorter to fix the layers. This was not the case she cut very little off and was able to blend my hair. The colour was also fixed and I'm feeling back to looking like myself. I highly recommend Alison who really believes in great customer satisfaction.

After having another stylist from a totally different salon in Barrie destroy my hair I had the opportunity to book with Mandy at Envy and let me tell you I am so glad that I did! She is a cutting wizard! She made me so comfortable and was so educational and friendly. I had to bring my 3 yr old daughter with me to my apt and the entire staff were so good to us the entire apt (especially Jen the receptionist, thank you Jen!) This apt was scary for me going in as I was having to get my hair cut short into a long pixie because it was so damaged but Mandy literally made the whole experience so pleasant and my hair actually feels like hair again! When he washed my hair it felt like he was ripping it out of my head and the water temp was very hot then very cold which I know happens sometimes but most times not one extreme to the other and it was never warm. Uncomfortable and disheartening experience by there Master Stylist. I have never walked out of an appointment, but unfortunately I was so uncomfortable that I left before I even had my hair service full-filled. The Master stylist, didn't take the time to listen and jumped to his own conclusions on my hair, he called me a liar when I tried to talk to him about my hair history. I am a extremely busy individual and taking the time to get my hair done is exciting and not something I get to enjoy often. To be talked to in such a way on just the consultation was shocking. I have never walked out of an appointment in my life, but there was no way I could spend any more length of time being unfairly judged and treated. I guess I didn't have the hair canvas that he was hoping to work on. It has been a business day since my appointment and this business establishment didn't even call me to discuss or apologize, I took it as a clear message about how they run there business and truly treat there clients.
