Stylist was training a younger woman, who washed my hair. I don’t think she reached the outer edges of my hairline. No problem, funny actually, she wet the back of my sweater. Why wasn’t a cape put outside the towel I was holding around my neck? Stylist understood my requests well. Mary was fun and lively. Her husband dropped in, though, and had a lengthy conversation.I didn’t mind at the time, but afterwards I thought !’I’m paying for her time, for me, so I came to resent that time of distraction. I also realized after that the bangs were thick and straight. I prefer angled and wispy.

This was my first visit to the Rainbow Room Hair Salon. My appointment with a senior stylist (pricing accordingly) was disappointing. The website offers "an invigorating shampoo followed by a scalp massage and a hot towel treatment with every haircut." My wash was perfunctory and I was not given either, a scalp massage or a hot towel treatment. The cut was hurried; the stylist discussed products/highlights with another, regular client while cutting my hair. My hair was blow dried by an apprentice (Lindsey did a fine job :) ) She advised that the senior stylist would complete the blow dry to show off for the cut I asked for. The senior stylist did not return to me. A pity...being new in town, I am looking for a stylist/salon to regularly cut/highlight and style my hair.

The hairdresser asked for lots of photos to understand what I was looking for and made sure to explain every step of the process to help me understand. I booked a cut & colour at Rainbow Room and was clear in explaining that the only reason I wanted colour was to cover up some grey on the side of my head near my temples - I was fine with the rest of my hair colour. The person I spoke to said she didn't know how they would do this and I would have to consult with the stylist when I came in. She said she would book me in for foils just in case that's what was decided. The next day it occurred to me that I might be taking up too much time with a foils appointment that wasn't necessary - so I called again and explained the situation, this time to someone else. She assured me all they needed to do was touch up the roots with colour, and it would be simple - no foils required. However, she didn't change the appointment type and when it came down to it, I sat for nearly an hour with the colour setting (which should have taken 30 minutes tops), watching the stylist cut another client's hair. She didn't explain the extra wait proactively, and I had to ask how much longer it would be. When she was done and I told her I'd never experienced a stylist anywhere taking an entire appointment while I waited needlessly, she told me that since my appointment was for foils which takes longer, and she didn't know I wouldn't be needing them, she got booked in for another cut. She also said nobody told her my situation (as I'd explained on the phone twice). She did a nice job on the cut and colour- minus the sloppiness of leaving dye all over my hairline and forehead- but basically, her attitude was 'don't shoot the messenger' rather than trying to make the situation/process better for me or future clients. Why weren't notes made on the file and passed on to the stylist ahead of time? It was decided that foils weren't necessary, so why wasn't the appointment type changed given that it required more time than standard root touchups? These gaps in your process just scream poor management and hassle to me, so I won't be back.

My first visit to Rainbow Room was last month (during COVID). I was a little anxious but the moment I stepped in and the staff started conversation with me, I felt that I had arrived at a right place. All the precautions were in place and it was completely sanitized. The staff is professional and cheerful ( I could see smiles in their eyes as they all were wearing masks). The stylist was trying to keep the conversation going even when it is little difficult to breath with the mask on. Really appreciate that. I loved the haircut they gave me. Was so happy that with little explanation and mask on they were able to understand what I wanted. Very professional and friendly. Love it.

I have very curly and frizzy hair, and I’ve had very bad experiences with hairdressers in the past... but I went into the rainbow room a few weeks back to grab some deva curl hair products and Jen was very knowledgeable about curly hair. She helped me choose the right products for my hair and desires, and informed me that she also has the devacut training. My hair really needed a hair cut, and I was super nervous. Jen listened to my concerns and gave me a great deva trim. She didn’t take too much off and helped give my hair some layers. Jen also informed me that she does the Goldwell keratin treatment and that it would significantly help improve my frizz and manageability... I’ve always struggled with loving my hair and I decided to book the kerasilk appointment. It’s in a week and I am so excited!

Had such a good experience at the Rainbow Room Hair Salon with their eyebrow artist Patricia. She is an actual artist so it really shows in her work and all her knowledge from all her years of experience. She was very in-depth explaining what she was doing and how the pigments worked together and why and how doing this can change the whole face. Also I didn't feel anything. I had my brows done 4 years ago and it hurt a lot and worked myself up to go today and I literally felt nothing. Like I could go on about my amazing experience.

I went to my appointment for a lightening service, and was continuously questioned about my hairs history, although I had ALREADY provided the stylist with this information, and gave a timeline with dated pictures of previous lightening services. The stylist I was with continued to repeatedly ask the same questions. Finally I told her I was a stylist myself, and I was aware of everything she was saying about my hair, but had she been listening, she would’ve known it’s been years since I have put lightener on my hair. She made me feel as if she was not confident in what she was doing. I ended up leaving disappointed without having anything done. I will definitely not be rebooking, I will be seeking a new hair salon.

I couldn’t understand how wax application was so painful until I realized near the end that Mariam was having trouble keeping the wax warm!! After over 30 hrs of being waxed, I had never encountered that experience before. Painful is normally only when strip is being removed…not when wax is being applied!

These ladies are amazing! Not only did they manage to fit me and my bridal party in last minute, but they were able to do hair and makeup for my mom as well who didn't have an appointment. Scary situation when your hair and makeup girl cancels on your wedding last minute. These ladies are so helpful, so efficient and were happy to help us out. They got myself, 2x bridesmaids and my mom's hair and makeup done with out any trouble. We all felt so beautiful and the makeup stayed put all day. Had a pedicure done there and it all went wrong. The very young lady (teenager) that did my procedure took too much skin off my pad and caused it to bleed. This caused a blood blister and emended pain, I had to walk with a cane part of the time. Avoid this place. Go anywhere else.
