The offered the best service I could ask for! I left one day with a hairstyle I wasn't crazy about (it was a misunderstanding, it wasn't my style - short messy bob that was layered and raised in the back) and I casually mentioned it to the secretaries I wasn't supper happy about it. Well, later that day I got a call and they offered a free of charge consultation and appointment with one of their even more experienced hair stylist. I eventually came a month later for a trim, and they amazingly offered the full cut free of charge! My hair looked amazing! They remembered me, the issue I had and offered such great service even though I showed up much later after their phone call, and I've been returning since! They truly are an above and beyond and professional hair salon. Thank you Fish :)

I have been going to this salon since I moved to Victoria and have loved it from the beginning. Through my many different styles and colours, the staff and stylists have always made sure I have a pleasant and relaxing experience, and of course to walk away with great looking hair. Sometimes people will say that my hair looks perfect. My long-time stylist, Ashley, can take much of the credit for providing a fabulous cut that works specifically for my face shape and fine hair and takes about 6 minutes to do. Got a great cut from Taylor who listened to what I wanted and is one of the only stylists who styled my hair the way I like it. Usually I can’t convince stylists to not take a straighter and a curling iron to my hair but Taylor happily took the time to diffuse my hair to let it have its natural texture. She totally saved my hair from the bad COVID cut I have myself and didn’t give me any flack for it ????. She’s also affordably priced.

lovely staff! but I ever since my haircut or hair CHOP I should say I have never felt so ugly in my life,, I asked for a cute pixie neck length cut and she went off with the blade and gave me what looks to be my babas haircut right at the ears above the jaw line i haven't felt good since... I am in hiding mode and massaging coconut oil daily hoping for this hair to grow out.

I had an appointment at 4pm with Cassandra. I went in with long hair and then left with the most adorable long bob ever! Cassandra listened to all my needs (and acted upon them), she was very easy to talk to, and she gave me an amazing transformation! I am so pleased with the results!! Also, the establishment itself is super clean and hip, all the staff are super friendly, and they have great music. Would highly recommend.

I’ve been a client of fish hair salon for close to 12 years. What’s great about fish is their stylists are trained at different levels and it reflects in the price. I see one of their master stylists Sandra and would highly recommend her. She does an excellent job. Over the years I’ve seen many stylists and can’t say I’ve been happy with any of them. If you’re looking for a professional hair stylist, this is the place.

i cant speak for everyone there, but ive been getting my hair done by the stylist antonia and she does an amazinggg job every time! whether you have a really specific idea of what you want done or want some help finding something thatll look good, she always does a great job- especially with colour- and is always really friendly and nice. she does really cool stuff if youre into vibrant or funky colours too but always keeps your hair-health in mind. OH, and if there are any damaged souls out there who love keepin your hair long and really need a trim but have gone through the harrowing experience of going in to get "just a trim" and coming out with 8 inches less hair and 8 litres more tears!!!... you need not be afraid ANYMORE! if you ask antonia for just a trim... she will give you just a trim! if you ask her not to take off more than an inch... she will not take off more than an inch! she has helped me get over my trimophobia! well, this was longer and more life-story-ish than intended, but the point is- antonia is awesome and it seems like the other stylists are pretty great too! i would definitely recommend givin this place a try!

He listened to what I had to say and asked questions for my preference as he went, never making decisions for me. I had a haircut in June with a lovely stylist - I was very happy with it. But I was given misleading information. I was told I could get free bang trims so encouraged to come back a couple of months later for that. I did but my stylist had to cancel last minute and I was booked with a different stylist instead, who made me pay for a new cut. That stylist told me I could come back for free bang trims from then on and I just tried to book my first trim since and was told I'd have to pay for it as the free bang trim was only a one-time deal and only with the same stylist. (Edited) The owner has kindly clarified the misunderstanding: apparently the two stylists were misinformed about the policy on complimentary services - those have a 4-week time limit from the date of the haircut. It sounds like there will be more clarity in the future.

I got my hair cut by Lauren Sands; I have anxiety when it comes to getting my hair cut (its slightly pathetic I know...) but Lauren made my experience absolutely worth every cent. Today I just saw Wendy and she did a great job with cutting and styling my hair, working with its natural curl. I also enjoyed our conversation and the scalp massage. Salon is pricey but they have a student discount on Tuesdays. Plus they take their COVID protocols seriously and I felt safe.

Was hoping to get a good hair cut this October, turned out anything but - used a razor instead of scissors and when I mentioned how cutting my hair like that would make it frizzy as it grows out I got a story on how it's not the razor its how you cut it, the stylist got spunky and basically stopped cutting my hair went straight to drying so I have tuffs of hair in the back and no tapering on the top (I own a bowl cut). Asked for some low lights to emphasize some strong white's and now I have an all over blue. Then the stylist used a code word with the girl at the till and proceeded to charge me $187.00 for extremely short hair & highlights - ouch. Worst experience I've had since I went to CITRUS in Vancouver.

At Fish Hair, A sales associate approached me and had a nice chat with me to help me figure out what I needed! A second lady gave me the option for exchange if I as not happy with the product. I made a first time appointment with Dave after seeing his work on the Fish Salon Instagram account. I have been trying to lighten my hair colour which has been a challenge because it is very dark and thick. I wasn't getting the colour after a few sessions with another stylist in Victoria, and one session with Dave I was where I wanted to be! He went WAY above and beyond for my cut and colour. I had the most amazing experience today at FISH! I called this morning and asked if there was any opening for today around 3, there was two stylist available and I decided to go with Julie. I was informed of fee, what was included, location and parking! When I entered the brightly lit, exposed brick reception area, I was impressed to be greeted by two women apon entry with a warm hello. When I approached the counter, I explained I was quite a bit early but I was here to see Julie, who the woman I who welcomed me was! I explained how excited I was to go for my first asymetric pixy cut, to which she shared my excitement for. She offered me tea, or water and said she needed 10 mins or so to get ready . While i waited i looked at their merchandise and was surprised to see what they offer, beautiful artisan items, oil, beauty and hair products and jewlery. The products were plentiful but not overwhelming, tastefully displayed . When Julie came and got me, she took me to the shampoo bar for a consultation. I have never felt so heard by a stylist before. We talked and discussed my options, she looked at my inspiration and was compassionate about my concerns. I told her i had not visited the salon before, that this was my first short cut and just how excited I was. She offered to take before and after pictures for me to capture the moment. Then came the scalp massage..... BLISS. When we got to her station it was clean and well organized, and chair was comfortable. She proceeded to cut, shave, razor whatever magic it was, to my hair , while still carrying on a energetic, honest and thoughtful conversation. She spent time, asked for input, and shared in my enthusiasm . This has been the BEST experience I have ever had at a salon. I am booking in for color next week ;)

The hair stylists here are amazing and this review should not reflect poorly on them. The stylists are why this salon is one of the best in Victoria. Unfortunately, the owner is an unprofessional bully. Do not go here if you have an invisible illness and might have to reschedule last minute. She has no sympathy and will publicly embarrass you. I had a very high-risk pregnancy and had to call to cancel and reschedule twice in a row because I was vomiting uncontrollably and too weak to drive. Plus I'm assuming having to be sick during a hair appointment isn't ideal? When I finally got to have my appointment I was SO excited for some self-care. I was very pregnant, very weak, very worried about my unborn child, and very emotional. Not to mention I was experiencing peripartum depression and anxiety. On the drive to the salon I got stuck behind a car accident on a one way street in downtown. My car was literally trapped and I just had to wait. I called the salon and asked them to let my stylist know. When I arrived 20 minutes late and explained my situation again and apologized I was told that I couldn't have my leftover appointment time and that I was no longer welcome there because of cancelling last minute. I again explained that I was having a difficult pregnancy and had to put the well-being of my baby first and that I was physically vomiting the days I cancelled previously. The owner didn't care. She just continued to embarrass me publicly in their front lobby and tell me not to come back. I checked their cancellation policy. It's pretty straightforward: if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment you need to pay the cancellation fee. I have no problem with that. Not sure where the fine print on public embarrassment and refusing service is. My takeaway: avoid the owner like the plague. Don't be sick, don't be pregnant, and don't have things outside of your control like car accidents happen. Then you'll be okay.

I was yesterday at FISH salon. I explained to the hairdresser that I'm growing my hair from short to bob and it is really hard and extremely difficult and that I just want my hair to be cut on the neck and a strait line to be formed on the back and NOT TO TOUCH anything else. She said she understood and I should take off my glasses. She chopped my hair short! not bob - SHORT like a man! needless to say I'm devastated, beyond belief. After so much talk that I want to grow it and I was almost at the end of growing that took me 9 months! I haven't taken any photos during this period as I hated my hair. I am again almost at the beginning. Salon is beautiful and clean and staff if friendly including that hairdresser. She did offer free cut, which I didn't take. I would give thousands of dollars to have my hair back I don't want a free cut. In deed, I don't want any cut at all, for a while now....I'll get my husband to cut my hair on the back only, much safer.

They have a range of stylists with specialties and experience. Even their junior stylists give excellent cuts. There are a lot of really great things about this salon. My hairstylist was friendly and knowledgeable, the space is bright, modern, and clean, and you can tell that the individuals working here are professionals who care about what they do. However, I paid upwards of $300 for foils and a trim (this is a lot of money) and I found that at first it looked really great but once the toner washed out, there were huge sections of my hair that hadn't been coloured. My stylist was trying out a new technique that she had learned from a coworker and I think the technique involved not colouring as much of the hair as she usually would or doing foils in a way that give the APPEARANCE of full-coverage while getting my hair done quickly with fewer foils. I'm not a hairstylist myself so I can only speak to my experience but at the end of the day the price tag was too steep for the results. I didn't end up going back to have my hair fixed which is totally on me, I should have called and tried to explain how I wasn't totally satisfied with the results. I was kind of worried that they would want to charge me to have the darker sections of my hair coloured and didn't really have any more money to spend on my hair at the time. I'm now looking elsewhere for my next cut and colour.

Been going to fish for about a year now and have never been dissapointed. My hair stylist is Carlos, defiantly a perfectionist which is something I always appreciate when someone is doing my hair. His attention to detail is incredible and I always leave with EXACTLY what I want (with some suggestions from him). He is absolutely amazing making sure I'm taken care of from the second I walk into the doors until the moment I leave (one time he got a little colour on my sweater and he washed it twice while I was there). I highly recommend Fish Hair salon and especially Carlos! I get compliments on my hair daily! Thanks!

Found this place by googling "best salon Victoria" and it is ranked high for good reason! The space has so much old charm and character. It is very clean, covid safe, and steady busy but did not feel crowded at all. I have nightmare hair and Sydney turned my vision into a reality! She provided extra tips for care and offered free services if I was unhappy at all with my cut, or just needed to come back for a tweak. The prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to see Sydney for all my future hair needs!

I had thick, long wavy hair and literally asked for a trim. Just a trim. My hair was perfect and just needed a light trim and no frills. I also mentioned i wore my hair both straight and wavy. Told her I air dried it and it was always good. The girl noted my original cut (which was awesome) and said she would follow it ... instead she started razor cutting. I told her i did not like razoring and she insisted that it was too heavy. It looks stringy, hideous lifeless and awful now and will take forever to grow out. The sides and top are fuzzy and thin. It will barely hold a curl and is frizzy...maddening. i tried to straighten it and it looks limp and ugly. The cut is uneven and clumpy. Air drying looks awful. I will now be wearing my hair in a bun (that is half the size it was a week ago) until this grows out. I am furious beyond words. Listen to your clients when they say no. I knew what my hair was like. Now its awful :( Update: the manager was very kind and compassionate and gave me my money back but this does not fix this atrocity. My hair is soo sparse. It could take 1-3 years to fully get my thick hair back and cutting it ahorter wont help as its thin everywhere:( Maybe she should have offered clip in hair extensions.

Big props to Duon! The first time I went in to have my hair coloured I didn't like it because it was too light. I was nervous about going back because I felt bad about making a big deal out of it. She was so nice, and so happy to have me back. I really felt like she wanted me to be happy with my hair. After 2 more (free) touch-ups I love the colour of my hair now! The people at fish are so kind and welcoming, I will definitely be back.

I thought it would be a good idea to go to fish salon for a quick bang trim as I have heard good things about the salon by boy was I ever wrong. Although the girl asked me quite a few questions about what I would like, the end result looked nothing like I described. I described feathery bangs that end below my eyebrows but what I got was an inch shorter than what I wanted and not only that it was choppy and has an uneven spot right in the middle! By far the worst experience I have ever had! By the result of a simple bang trim I am highly questioning if and how this hair dresser got her license.

I've been to fish salon a few times, especially when i am making a huge change to my regular hairstyles. Couple years ago i went in to get front bangs ( since i have a small forehead and i didnt want another salon/hairstylist to mess up the look i was going for) . I've felt complete confidence in fish salon all the other times i went in for regular layers and bangs. However, i am in tears right now. I have fairly dark hair. I haven't dyed my hair in 10 years. So going back to dying my hair was huge step for me and i wanted to be in nothing but trusted hands. I went in for a consultation at Fish hair salon last week and told them that i wanted to go for Red Ombre look. I have wavy hair ( NOT CURLY). I was assured that the final result would come out looking great. However, my hair looks like early 2000s streaks gone wrong. After my hair appointment today i did bring my concerns up that this wasnt the look i was going for. I was assured that it will look better once settled in and this is how it was necessary for curly hair ( again my hair is wavy..and fairly straight from the stop and waves down at the bottom) I love the color on my hair and the vibrancy of the color..but the way it is streaked into my hair ( very unevenely, chops on one front side right where i part my hair i just want to cry). It is no where near the look i was going for. and I spent $300 on this. I am just really disappointed and very emotional right now.

Angela and the team at FISH were the absolute sweetest when I came into their salon bawling after having my hair burnt off and being yelled at by the owner of "Carribean Style Hair Salon". Stylist Angela introduced herself, gave me a big hug, a cup of tea and sat me down in her chair right away (on a busy Friday). Without judgement, she explained what had happened to my hair and wrote out a plan to repair what was left of my damaged locks (that included vitamins to grow my hair back). She genuinely expected nothing in return for her generosity. Angela's kindness, calm and expertise was exactly what I needed after such a traumatizing experience. Her professionalism further re-enforced why going to a reputable hair salon is well worth the time and money. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Angela at FISH . Thank-you.

I've gone here twice now and the first time was the best experience I'd had getting my hair cut. The second time was the same great procedure but an unwanted result. I had a picture on hand that my hair could have been modeled after but in the end my hair was cut too short. When I explained this I was told that what was in the picture would have been too long, unmanageable and there "would've been hair going everywhere". If that were true I should have been told that when I showed the picture and in any case it was the customer's decision that should have been honoured. The haircut I got isn't a bad one and it's one that I can definitely work with, just not what I would have liked.

when you find the right hair dresser you just know. <3 nice atmosphere, full treatment including warm towels, plus a touch-up between cuts that leaves you feeling fresh without giving you the new-hair-cut complex.

I like the hair cut but there was a lot of miscommunication... Long story short... I told receptionist that I want my appointment at 5:30 but she set it as 7. And I was referred by friend, but did not get discount. My friend, she could talk about hours on how good her stylist is, so I wanted give it a try. She called in for me but the stylist was not working that day. so I called back and set up for the other day that works for me... couple days after, I went in and had 15min consultation. After the consultation, I wanted to book for a haircut. The receptionist told me I could do it on Thursday 5pm, but I work till 5, so I told I want 5:30. She told me she cannot do that on Thursday, and then she told me she can do next Tuesday. So I said I would like to do that. And weekend I got text saying my appointment is 7. Not 5:30. 7 was not convenient time for me but I went in since I don’t wanna wait for another week.. So I got haircut and I liked it.. But even though I was told that I will get discount because I was referred by friend, they charged for full price. I asked the receptionist that I was referred by friend and that friend called in for my first reservation. The receptionist told me that I need name card or something to get discount. So I paid full price. I came home and told my friend about that. She told me that when she called in for appointment, she specifically asked if I need referral card, and she was told that I don’t need to. She was told that I only need to give them her name and that will do. Well it didn’t. Just for this one appointment, there was a lot of miscommunication. And miscommunication frustrates me. Since I liked the stylist I am thinking of going back... but these kind of mistakes make me hesitate!

This salon is very snobby and very unwelcoming. I went there to get my hair cut two days ago and my stylist treated me like I was a huge inconvenience, everything she did seemed like she was a 12 year old who was grumpy about her chores. She took about 10 minutes to cut my short hair and charged me $70 for it, and I had to trim stragglers when I got home. There are so many salons in Victoria, avoid this one.

The shop is lovely and the team is great. Unfortunately there was a bit of a miscommunication (two way street I don't blame anyone), so unfortunately for me I'm not enjoying my new hair at all. This mostly sucks because getting my hair colored is an expensive luxury that I can only afford once maybe twice a year if I'm lucky, so it would have been nice if I had been in love with it afterwards.

I don't think fish hair salon is a bad place overall but I did have a bad experience there recently. I do modelling and hair modelling in particular and for one show I got my hair dyed white blonde and I wasn't a big fan. So I decided to get it fixed at fish hair salon where I usually go to get highlights and such. I went and asked them to change my hair back to a light brown pretty much the colour of my roots. I went to see a stylist that had done my hair before. She said it would take a few steps and I said I didn't mind paying extra or anything I wanted it to be changed. I showed her a picture of a light brown (and I'm not exaggerating ) and when she said she was done I saw a midnight black in the mirror. I immediatly said "um this isn't the colour I really wanted" and she replied with "oh it'll wash out to the colour you want in a week or two" seeing as the shop was closing soon I had a sneaking suspicion she was just saying that. So I left trying to believe what she said and so I washed my hair for the next month every night and it left my bathtub black with residue. But still my hair was black black black. I am not a person to usually get mad. But after two months I recently went to aveda salon and had a consultation about getting my hair back to the colour I wanted. The woman at aveda told me what the stylist had done was dyed my hair red then put the black over top of it trying to create a brown but had failed. Then to top it off it was going to take me 2 sessions of hair colour correction to get my hair back to normal. Which ended up costing me 500 dollars. If I go back to fish hair salon I'm unfourtunatly going to have to say I'll be seeing a different stylist. Of course I say they are a good salon most of the time all of my other experiences have been fantastic but this one was a hit and miss.

AMAZING experience at Fish! I had always heard nothing but good things, but finally got the guts to go and try it out for myself. Yasmine did my colouring, and I must say it's probably the best job I've had done at a salon. She was super attentive to what I wanted, and made great suggestions so that I came out even happier than I thought I would. Carlos did my cut, and kept me laughing the entire time. He was nothing but nice and an incredible stylist. At the end of the day, Fish was worth spending the money on because unlike many other pricey salons in Victoria, they actually do what you want them to. Can't wait for my next appointment!

When arriving an hour early (my mistake) the receptionist was quick to offer different options on what I could do (go grab a coffee and they would add it to my bill later, reschedule, OR see another stylist right away). My first time at the salon, and it exceeded all expectations! Angela was my hair stylist, and she is friendly, happy, and excellent at her craft. I have thick, long hair and she knew exactly what to do. You can tell she is a lot of fun, loves what she does and just a great person. I will definitely go back to see her again. She was well worth my time and money. The place is very clean yet stylish amid all the COVID-19 requirements. I appreciated that this salon is taking it very seriously, and I felt safe there. Hand sanitizer right when you come in, masks are required, plexiglass installed between stalls, and someone was cleaning constantly around me. Don't hesitate to book an appointment here. From the initial email from them, to my reminder call, to my overall experience here, they know what they are doing, and I am grateful that I found a new awesome hair salon! Thank you Fish salon for being professional, thoughtful and fun! Loved it.

I recently had my hair cut by a fabulous stylist named Carlos. I originally had very long, lifeless, dirty blonde hair, but Carlos transformed it into a short, edgy, platinum blonde crop. I was really nervous about such a dramatic change, but as soon as I met Carlos he reaffirmed my decision and got me really excited. He even knew the exact cut I was talking about; all I said was "Do you know Portia de Rossi's new hair?" and his response, "Honey! Of course I do! I just did this cut on someone the other day, let me go get the pictures" and off we went. I put my trust in him and he didn't let me down. More specifically, Carlos is a perfectionist who pays great attention to detail. He doesn't just give you a hair style, he adapts the style uniquely to your facial shape and hair type. For example, I have very thin, poker straight hair, and ears that (I think) stick out a little. He sculpted my hair around my ears in such a way they it had a camouflaging effect. He also created a level of volume that I've never had before by pushing my hair from the back of my head forward, and using thinning scissors to create a bit of an undercut. During the dyeing process the colour initially didn't come out as he had hoped, so he moved some of his clients back and reapplied the colour so that it came out perfect. And on top of all this, Carlos is so much fun. He told me hilarious stories, engaged me in good conversation, and complimented my throughout the process. Carlos is a talented stylist with eye fun, funky cuts, and personality that will keep me coming back to Fish for years to come :)

Ive changed my review . I wanted to wait to see how it grew out a bit. I will never go here again. Ive gone for over 5 years sent lots of people and I will not waste my money here again. Im almost too embarrassed to be seen let alone tell people where I went and how much f*cking money i spent. They may be friendly but it doesnt make up for a failed hair cut- a non satisfactory makeup hair cut and a bang cut where i told the stylist that my hair doesnt normally part where it was at the moment-she had done the makeup haircut aswell so she knew where it had originally been- SHE TOLD ME IT DIDNT MATTER. I now have the most uneven bangs that do not blend what so ever.. she also wouldnt touch the face framing part which was what made the bangs the style they were and the whole look of what i wanted. Incredibly dissapointed. I forwarned that i had anxiety and ocd so they would put me with a skilled stylist- I now have people on the regular point out the flaws in my cut which makes my anxiety through the roof. To be completelly honest, I want my money back.
