I have been coming to this salon for the past year. Dawn is the only stylist I've come across in Vancouver that specializes in cutting curly hair. She cuts it dry which not a lot of stylist do but it the truest way to style curly hair. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Great atmosphere, friendly salon staff. It's my go-to. Also well set up for post COVID and sanitization.

Hannah is amazing! I came here with a big hair fix. I’ve been box dying my hair black for 10 years and recently got the colour stripped (trying to go back to natural). Both salons I’ve been to previously have been super hesitant with my hair and done things like weird highlights to try and help lighten it. Hannah is the first person to actually get my hair all the same colour, and then a week later she got it to my ideal shade. FINALLY!! And my hair is healthy and wonderful and I’m happy. She did an amazing job. Trusting her for all my future hair colouring/cutting. I finally found someone I will continuously go back to!! Highly recommend!

Two of my friends have discouraged me to try Axis but based on the reviews on Micheal I gave it a try and man it worth it! I have a short pixie which needs lots of expertise to make it satisfying and Micheal did a GREAT job! less than 24 hours and almost everyone have complimented on my hair. He even offered a free clean up before getting my next hair cut and that's how you know that the stylist understands the pixie! The salon had space for improvement though but I didn't care that much since I was very happy with my cut! Will go back to him for sure

LOVE coming here! I’ve been coming to this salon for 3 years to see Stephen and he’s AMAZING! It’s very clean, staff are amazing and so friendly and accommodating. Stephen is the only stylist ever to actually listen to what I want and actually do it, most stylist cut my hair too short when I ask for an inch off whereas Stephen actually only cuts off an inch, and always gives me a great beachy wave style before I go. I also love that you can bring your dog!! Mine barks too much as we found out the hard way but there’s always a dog or two in with their owners who are so sweet and usually good for a laugh or two with their antics. Hands down the best salon in Vancouver!

Everybody at Axis will treat you as if you were their most valuable client. When I was there earlier today, even though it was only the second time I was seeing Karl (and even though it'd been over a year since my first appointment since I'm veeery low maintenance), he remembered me treated me as if I were a special and frequent client. I felt very welcome and very comfortable with him - and everyone else I spoke to. Besides, Karl is absolutely fantastic at what he does. Such an artist! Having the chance of having your hair done by him is so worth the wait. Thank you, Karl. Thank you Axis Team!

I had Michael as my barber and I asked him to keep it long in the front and short on the sides, instead of keeping anything long he made all my hair much shorter than I wished for and then the front desk tried to pressure me into tipping 10% with hair I felt very unsatisfied with. If anyone knows a good salon in Vancouver let me know cuz this one ain't it

My stylist was very good at what he does, and what he agreed to do, was done perfectly. The reason my rating is low: when I requested the appointment, I specified olaplex to be used, they did not mention they discontinued it- they use a Loreal product now, and further, it was not used in the lightening process itself, but just the toner. I had sent pictures of my hair and requested a global blonde. The stylist refused once I had arrived- this is understandable, those are tricky to do with a preexisting balayage- but I wish I'd been told before arriving, he had not seen the pics. I wish also that this salon prohibited double-booking, he was pressed for time and used help heavily. Finally, the social media feels obligatory or you're preparing for an icy 3+ hours. Without much sleep prior, being made to do a tiktok while paying $400-600 feels a bit dystopian.

It can be a little pricey for colouring, but for a simple cut, it’s not too expensive compared to other places. Staff members there are all very friendly and nice. Their shampoo and conditioner are great, I love using them at home.

When looking for a new hairstylist last year, I booked an appointment with Liv (@hairbylivv__) for a haircut and money piece. It was my first time getting colour in my hair, but she was clearly very knowledgable and helped me choose a colour that would suit me. Since then I've gone back for other haircuts, and my first balayage, and I'm consistently blown away by how my hair looks. If you have curly/textured hair you MUST go see Dawn at Axis. In a city that is notorious for not knowing how to cut curly hair, this place was a godsend. Pierre did balayage on my hair today, and it turned out amazing! I was unsure how my hair would turn out because I have never dyed my hair before. Pierre did a fantastic job, and I walked out feeling very confident and fabulous. From the beginning, he sat down and took time to explain every critical step and answered all my questions (I had a lot of questions as it was my first time dying my hair). I appreciate Pierre’s perfectionism and paying attention to every single detail to achieve the look I wanted. I cannot say enough about Pierre and his work. I highly recommend anybody to see Pierre for their hair.

This is the best salon in Vancouver. I recently showed up with an impossible task (I had the biggest, thickest, top knot stuck in my hair from an incident with a round brush) The team at Axis took me under their wing and spent hours patiently untangling my rats nest. It was treacherous tedious work but they did it with a smile on their faces (under their masks of course) and made me feel at ease immediately. The service is unbelievable, and they know their stuff. I always feel welcomed and comfortable upon arriving and I leave feeling confident and relaxed. I can not recommend the services at this salon enough!

Had unsuccessful experience with colouring. Painted my hair for the first time in many years. Haircut was great, but I had to re-color twice. The second time the color turned too yellow for my cooler skin and eyes, but they asked me to re-tone elsewhere and gave me $100 back. They also said they had a color match with photo but I wasn't offered to do that and it was their mistake. Anyways, sad story short, if do coloring, ask for a photo match service in advance.

This was my first time getting my hair done at Axis salon and I am very impressed with their customer service, quality of work, and the experience as a whole! I got my hair cut and highlighted by Brianna, when I got home I wasn't fully satisfied with the colour (which may have been my fault for not explaining what I wanted properly, and that I was a chronic purple shampoo user which may have affected the colour), I emailed them a few days later explaining that I wasn't happy with the results, they emailed me back within a couple hours trying to get me in to fix it the next day, even though Brianna had a full schedule, unfortunately I was busy and couldn't make it in that day, but they got me in at my earliest convenience. When I went back everyone was super friendly and genuinely concerned with me leaving happy, Brianna went above and beyond to fix my hair and as a bonus she did a treatment that made my hair feel so soft and healthy! Thanks again!

The best haircut of my life! Britt was my hair stylist and she is AMAZING. The consultation was thoughtful and thorough - we went over pictures, talked over what I wanted, did a colour test to make sure my hair would lift sufficiently, the works. She really made sure we were on the same page. Despite what I wanted involving multiple steps, the appointment was made such a breeze by Britt and the rest of the staff. She continued to check in with me throughout the process to make sure I was happy with how things looked and was super accommodating whenever I had anything to add about wanting minor changes I wanted. She really made me feel like I was a part of the process which, as anyone who's ever experienced the panic inducing situation of a hair stylist "taking over" and deciding that they'll give you what they give you, is so special. My hair looks the best it's ever looked and it's exactly what I wanted. I cannot recommend her enough!

The salon itself looks really cute. I love the art pieces they have on the wall. Unfortunately I do not live in the Vancouver area but I plan to make the trip to see her again soon. Everything was perfect from the friendly receptionist to the positive atmosphere in the salon. Olivia was so wonderful! She listened carefully to what I was looking for and was warm and kind. She consulted with another stylist to ensure my cut was exactly what I wanted. I had a lot of hair taken off and felt very confident in her execution of the cut. Precision and a gentle touch at the same time. And my little dog was welcomed into the shop and received good scratches by everyone(which is his favourite). I left feeling confident and like a shinier version of myself. The best part is that I was able to replicate the style on my own, which I have never been able to do. I asked for a cut that wasn't going to be too tough to style and Olivia showed me how to achieve that. Hot tip: the Axis Vanilla Mint shampoo and conditioner are AMAZING. I have been going to axis for over 10 years and i have tried other salons throughout the years here and there just cause of the distance from where i live but have always left the other random salons not that happy. They were ok but nothing like when i leave axis. I always leave happy and so does my hair. The products are all natural and will only help your hair benefit from all the awesome ingredients in it! If you haven't tried axis hair salon you ate missing out big time! You wont regret it! If you want to look your best the hair stylists will cut dye style curl your hair to best suit you to help your inner beauty shine from an already beatiful you!

Excellent customer service. I had placed an order for the mor hair oil a little over a month ago and had not received confirmation of the order being shipped or charged. I made contact with their team about my issue, they responded to each email almost immediately and were happy to address any concerns I had. This team was positive, friendly and through communication they were able to sort out a glitch on their website due to transition that wasn't processing orders properly. Without any fault of their own, they were accommodating and rectified the issues I had. I can't wait to try the product!

Growing out hair never felt so good! I had a delightful first experience with Sage today; she reshaped my frumpy, overgrown pixie into a fabulous, edgy, shaved-nape bob which I love. Sage was friendly, professional, and did a truly excellent job transforming my hair from awkward to artful. Dawn is a treasure, she cut my husband's long curls to twirly perfection and made him feel so informed and comfortable rocking his newly discovered texture. On top of all that, Axis is a beautiful location with welcoming staff at the front desk. Couldn't be happier!

Cannot say enough amazing things about Axis Salon! Firstly, the online booking system is super easy. I booked my appointment on the day of, got a text/notification shortly after, and a call from the receptionist about the salon's covid regulations. The receptionist was the friendliest ever, keep in mind this call was at like 9am so for her to be so upbeat screams awesome customer service. She had such a cheery and helpful demeanor that I very much appreciated as this was my first visit to Axis and also on my day off. And of course on to my wonderful stylist Michael! I am a firm believer that it cost $0.00 to just have a positive, uplifting vibe towards anyone in your chair, which is exactly what he did! (I used to work in a salon so I feel that I can say this from experience.) He was super attentive throughout the entire experience, and did a great job with making sure you felt well taken care of. As for the way he cut my hair was phenomenal, a cut that I know will last me a while. He cuts with such accuracy and precision and definitely knows what hes doing. And don't even get me started on his blowouts! Simply put, he is the bees knees and totally rad. <3 Lastly it was really great to see all the stylists helping out the juniors/apprentices. From what I've seen everyone does their part in ensuring that they grow as a team, which is really refreshing and great to see. Much love xoxo

Extremely overpriced. I paid a lot more than I was quoted and it was not the look I was going for. Paid a lot of money to be very disappointed. Be sure you have a clearer understanding of what you are paying before going ahead with it - so that you are not shocked at the end. I would have argued the point in the moment but as I had forgotten about the $100 deposit I had previously paid, I did not realize the total cost until later. Would not trust them to touch my hair again and certainly not for their prices. There's much better options out there but unfortunately I took the risk with them because of their higher profile and I regretted it instantly. Don't waste your money.

I’m so disappointed with my first visit to AXIS. I’m not going to mention the stylist’s name as she was truly amazing and my hair looks great; this review is for the salon’s practice only and she would get five stars if I could review her separately. I made an appointment request online and specifically asked for a quote. They replied quickly and were very thorough: they requested photos of my current hair, hair inspiration, etc. I was so impressed with this service that it completely slipped past me that they never provided a quote. I arrived for my appointment and after a consult with my stylist, I received a quote of $425 for a haircut and full head of foils for my chest-length hair. I have been to dozens of salons and never in my life have I paid more than $250 for this. I was shellshocked, and obviously it showed, because my stylist worked with me to remove some elective treatments/services to bring the cost down to $335—which was still well out of my budget. Unfortunately I’m not a confrontational person, so I felt unable to turn down the service because I was already there and had reserved the stylist’s time. To me, omitting the cost for services at the time of booking seems intentional so that people will feel obligated to pay once they arrive for their appointment. Because of this cost, I was not able to tip the stylist what she deserved. Getting my hair done is always a treat that I look forward to and save up for, but I am now left in a really uncomfortable position due to this unexpected charge. Although I loved my stylist and would love to return, I won’t be able to. If cost is important to you, please, please, please ask for a detailed quote prior to your appointment so you’re not left in the same position that I am.

Too expensive for the service that I received. And the $160 haircut wasn't anything special! It was actually very bad and didn't look good. I didn't like the haircut at all so I had to book another appointment somewhere else to get a better one! I really had higher expectations for the expensive curl specialist at this salon. Olivia was friendly and put me at ease. My hair looks amazing and was the drastic change I was looking for. One of the best parts of the day was Jackson, the sweet dog that hangs around the salon. This is probably the worst place to go if you have curly hair/textured hair or ethnic hair at all. I was seated with this girl that did not know what she was doing who brought her dog to work and would go chase after him or look at him instead of paying attention while she's cutting my hair...(I love dogs but that's extremely distracting and unprofessional in my opinion), then she cut my hair and did a terrible job then called her colleague over to fix it which she then proceeded to chop even more hair off in order to save it she didn't do a bad job but still was not what I was looking for. And then I was told that it's too difficult to deal with my hair type and that I should come in with it already straightened (takes too much time I guess). I've went to many hairstylists before who were able to manage my hair just fine at this place they couldn't even straighten it let alone cut it. I only went here because it was closer than going to my hairstylist and I was trying to find a place nearby to avoid commuting too long but looks like the commute is worth it after this.

The first time I went I left traumatized from how awful my hair colour was. I contacted the manager and told her. She offered me to come in, see someone else and get it finished complementary. I believe in second chances so I went. I left with my hair looking barely like what I wanted with it patchy and the colour looking unsaturated with missed chunks. My hair was FRIED at this point. She bleached it 4 times with 40 developer (YIKES) the last time! The bleach was to undo the damage the other hairdresser there did. I've since had to cut 8 INCHES off and re-do the colour at home. Honestly do not bother going here. I would have spent less than 100$ if I just went to Sally after watching all the YouTube videos I did instead of nearly $600 for me to end up looking a fool and then having to cut it all off!

I showed him a picture and he actually trim and brush my hair exactly the same way it was in the picture. Also, he gave me several tips on how to brush my hair and how to style my hair for the future. I went to several parties and I got compliment from several people... I told Michael that I want my hair to be in the way that it won't stick to my head and have some flow and he did exactly the same thing that I wanted..... Axis is hands down the BEST salon in Vancouver! I’ve been going there for nearly 2 years and even tried a different salon in Vancouver (that claims they are 5 star) when my stylist was away and was VERY disappointed. The staff are all amazingly sweet and know their clients by first name! I see Hannah who is an absolute sweetheart she took my hair from a dark brassy brown to a beautiful champagne blonde! She does everything she can to make sure I leave the salon HAPPY. She will apply as many toners and colours as possible to ensure I am happy. I love this place and refuse to go elsewhere. They deserve their 5 star rating!

Hair was slightly overprocessed and broke off easy. He should have handled my hair less aggressive. Color not evenly distributed at root. Overall still looks good. Having to deep condition at home. The hairdresser, Madison, did a good job. After she finished with my hair, I could no longer see my dark blonde roots. However, my hair at the end didn't look like the hairstyle I showed her at the beginning of the appointment. I wanted my hair brightened with highlights, but it ended up a shade darker than what I had before with barely visible highlights and a disappointing flat dirty blonde color. For the services she provided, the price was unreasonably high ($350). At this price range, I expected a balayage and a hairstyle with flair. I was very optimistic about this salon based on the reviews. I never write reviews and hesitated about writing this one, but I feel that customers should be warned about unreasonable high prices for mediocre services.

I had my hair done by Olivia and absolutely loved her service and company. She was friendly, energetic, passionate, and professional. I colour my hair 2-3 times a year, usually blonde in the summer and brunette in the fall. This winter, I decided to dye my hair purple. My natural hair colour is fairly dark and Olivia did a great job at lightening it to get me the pastel purple I wanted without causing an enormous amount of damage to my hair. She communicated with me each step of the way from our initial consultation to during and after the service. We went over a treatment/maintenance plan and discussed products to help keep my hair colour and repair the damage from bleaching it. She even checked in with me a few weeks after to make sure everything was still alright. I'd highly recommend her if you're thinking about getting a colour!
