I’ve been going to Alpha D for a long time and have always had a really pleasant experience. I went to Iyumi for awhile and she was always really great and listened to exactly what I wanted. I felt really comfortable with her and always trusted her opinions. I booked today with a different stylist because I don’t think Iyumi works there anymore. I won’t name him because I don’t want him to get a bad rep. He is a talented hairdresser but he didn’t listen at all to what I wanted. There was a very big gap in communication. I showed him a couple photos of what I wanted (a medium length choppy bob) and he said he could do that. He then showed me a photo of his previous work (another bob - more rounded and much shorter) and I said that I didn’t want a rounded bob and definitely not that short, and proceeded to show him the style I was looking for. After that he began cutting my hair and immediately started cutting without asking me if the length he was about to cut off was okay. I could already tell it was way too short and not what I wanted so I asked if he could make the other layers longer. He said he wasn’t done and said that the other layers would be longer. Long story short, the style was not at all what I asked for and looked a lot like the style he showed me (his previous work) which I made clear I didn’t want. This was a really bad experience and I’m quite disappointed as this salon is usually my go-to. When he asked me what I thought I was honest and I told him it wasn’t what I asked for and I was quite disappointed with how short it was, much shorter than the photo I showed. At the end of the day it wasn’t a terrible haircut, he is skilled it just wasn’t at all what I asked for and he didn’t offer anything when I made him aware I was disappointed.

I came here for the first time today for a haircut and was very happy with the service! The salon itself is really pretty and clean, and also they are very on top of their covid protocols so I felt very safe coming here to get my hair done. The staff was very lovely, Arata took care of me and was so friendly and sweet. He did a great job cutting and styling my hair, it came out looking way better than I expected. Looking forward to come back for other services! Highly recommend this place, it's really well-priced for the amazing services they offer

The salon is very clean and spacious. Lisa is friendly and highly skilled with over 12 years of experience. She gave me suggestions for the perfect hairstyle and also tips to style my hair with a hair dryer and wax. Price for the director's cut design is the highest out of all the stylists but the quality is also the highest.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Unless you want a botched haircut be my guest. I’ve been to many salons in Vancouver and Toronto and by far this is the worst. Don’t be fooled by its high review. You’ve been warned. Update: management’s canned respond on google is a joke. Did not even bother to contact after. Lack of attention to detail or communication… cut my hair way too short even after showing clear photos. Complete botched the haircut. I have to attend one of the most important event of my life, so I thought maybe it a good idea to get a haircut. Most of the places I called were full except alpha D so I decided to give them a try. Their reviews are high so I thought I can trust the stylist. Boy was I WRONG! I show the stylist 2 clear photos with the exact style I am looking for. I had trusted the alpha D brand but I was wrong. After 5 minutes when I looked up both the sides of my hair which I have been saving for 1 year for styling purposes are gone! The stylist cut everything that should not have been cut and did not cut things that needed to be cut. The photo clearly shows the sides being saved. When I go to other stylist at Chura or Tokyo Allure they would usually take my phone and look at the photo in detail where are this stylist at alpha d just glanced at it and proceeds to cut my hair. Not to sure why he asked me how often I get my haircut and I told him every 2-4 months then he proceeds to give a haircut so short that it needs maintenance cut every 2 weeks! Now I have to wait 1 year to grow the hair back…. 0/5 would not recommend at all.

Man, I have tried most of the famous brands in town, from the most over-rated to the ultra plebeian and commonplace, from the loudest self-adoration to the humblest reticence. If I say, prior to trying Alpha D Hair Salon, my search has been a WIP, a Work In Progress which always began with hope, and ended with 'Ah well, it just another one of those in the plethoric mass of the disappointing past. I'm writing this review after my first experience with Alpha, and I'm doing it wide awake, and decide that for the first time in years - yeah, years really - there is hope in Coiffure Land yet. Now, if they keep this up, with me at least, I will stand by the foregoing. Just watch for a sequel to this prequel. I will lay bare my humble feelings, as I always do when sharing experiences on this platform or any others. And when I uttered this seemingly sexist exclamation in the first word of this review, I meant it in a non-sexist way. Those beautiful patrons in the shop no doubt share my thoughts. Or else, why would they be there. Got it, Man?

The staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating! Due to the current situation with the pandemic, they are only by appointment. They're very thorough with cleaning and sanitization between each customer. Although we are required to wear our masks, they still do an impeccable job with the cut, styling, and wash. My appointment with Saya was better than perfect! She was very friendly and gave suitable advice for my hair type. Her wash and scalp massage was very relaxing. And she gave me a wonderful haircut which I absolutely love! Thank you!

Highly recommend Alpha D salon! Saya and Arata are both amazing and professional. They are passionate about what they do, pleasant and friendly, the shop is clean and even the hair washes are extremely comfortable! They’ll give you styling tips and hairstyle recommendations that are trendy and easy to maintain. My husband had the best haircut of his life with Arata! Prices are very good for what you get. I had a haircut appointment with Saya and she was absolutely incredible! I was about 10 minutes late due to traffic and when I arrived, she was so understanding and kind. I also explained how I wanted to donate my hair and she took the time to measure it, tie it and placed it carefully in a plastic bag for me to take home afterwards. She made sure I was comfortable and explained how my hair would be a little shorter than what I had initially wanted but she made sure it looked great at the end. She also gave me tips on how I can style it! I LOVE my haircut Saya, thank you so much!!!!

He communicated well about what he was going to do and he was very careful with everything he did. The entire experience was very enjoyable from start to finish. I have been going Alpha D for hair cut and hair colour for about a year now. My hair stylist Saya is always welcoming and takes a time to consult my request/concern before every service. Not to mention she gives me a great haircut everytime, she also gives me lovely hair colour as well.( yes, I get compliments from my co-workers after I get haircut/colour, and was asked where I got it from) Another plus is she will give me tips on styling, and how to take care of my hair colour. So if you ever have any questions on hair ( I mean who wouldn't?), she is the one to go! Overall, I recommend this hair salon. Reasonable pring, friendly staff, convenient location, and clean store.

Best haircut I've ever had, highly recommend this salon! It was my first time going to Alpha D Salon, I was on their waiting list for almost 2 weeks and they called me on a Sunday around 4pm for a 5pm slot on the same day - and I was glad I was able to take it! If you would like to go here I recommend making an appointment at least one month in advance. Arata my hair stylist was very careful, attentive to detail and listened to my requests while making great suggestions too. He made me feel comfortable and checked in once in a while to see if I'm okay. I only get haircuts once a year so I will definitely reach out to him again! The place itself is very spacious and clean, and the stylists disinfect their stations after every client. It was a very safe experience for me!

Ive always had straight, boring hair. I’ve been doing my research on where to get good digital perm here in Vancouver. I’ve gotten a hair cut at alpha d in downtown a couple years back and I loved it. I just find it hard to drive and find parking in downtown that’s why I decided to try the new spot in Richmond. I came here to get a digital perm for the first time. Kei was my stylist and he was very friendly. He first assessed my hair and gave me the price of how much it would cost me to get a trim and the digital perm before getting started. The price was reasonable knowing that you’ll be getting quality service. This process took about 3 hrs but he made sure I was comfortable, gave me some magazines to read and a cup of green tea. This salon is very clean as well. Loved my experience getting my hair done here and of course I love, love, love my new curly hair! Thanks so much Kei! You’re the best!!! ❤️

Super happy with my haircut! I always get mid length cut after growing it out for a year or 2 and the past few times I went to cut my hair, I went to try at 2 other locations (gave the same instructions). Out of the 3 places I gave the same instructions, alpha D had given me best outcome. Service was great, all the staffs there are super nice and friendly. Price is reasonable, definitely not too expensive. I definitely recommend this place for a haircut if you live in Richmond (or in Vancouver since they have a downtown location). Currently my fav place, definetly will come back again next year or the year after XD Head massage during hair wash was great 10/10 Haircut, followed instructions to the tea 10/10 Feedback, super understanding of the hair condition and sculp/head pain 10/10 Store, clean and spacious (also not too busy, so customers/staffs are surrounding you) 10/10

My experience at Alpha D was amazing, friendly staff, great service and a clean modern atmosphere. Taka, who was my hair stylist did a spectacular job! He took his time to analyze the shape of my head, the condition of my hair and executed a hair style that best suited me. A true professional in his art! I have had haircuts at many different salons, but none of them could give me the hair style that truly matched me. However, after my haircut with Taka, my search is over. I have found my "go to" place.
