It was one of the quieter appointments I've had, not much talking if you're into that. I would definitely go back if they were close to me, and even though they're a 35 minute drive from me on the highway I would still probably go back!

I have nothing but positive reviews about this salon. I was looking for a change just before a girls night out and so I tried booking with my own hairdresser who was full so then I did a quick google search to find the next best place. I used to online booking option and volume salon got back to me right away. They were able to fit me in for an appointment within 2 days of contacting them no problem! I went into my hair appointment wanting some color added in very subtly. My hairdresser was Gabby, she was amazing!! After describing what I wanted she worked with me to create a new fun look, colors that I would've never been confident enough to add without her advice. Somehow she knew right away how I like my hair and nailed the final look perfectly. I have never received so many compliments about my hair color before. Thank you so much Gabby! I will definitely be returning!

Please do not go to this saloon, they will charge you much more extra price for hair colour and other services. They give you different price on phone and charge you way more extra price when you are in saloon. Funny part is that they even charge $50 for blow dryer. Very disappointed with this saloon. Please do not waste your hard working money in this saloon. Thanks Volume saloon for bad experience.

My experience with Amber was amazing! A really nice girl, I travelled out to her because I really worry about my hair when it comes to chemical straightening. I also waited a week and a half to leave this review to get a good idea of how my hair would turn out since you dont know how well the results will be immediately after your appointment. She was great, I couldnt have a proper consultation because of how far I lived, but she took the day for my appointment so we discussed things for a half hour. I let her know everything that was done to my hair, and my concern for keeping it healthy at the same time. Ive had my hair done previously with a much stronger treatment, and it had grown out over a year, and just needed the roots redone. She let me know exactly what my expectations should be with this, and that I should choose one or the other (to dye it or to straighten it) or else the damage will be a lot. So I chose to deal with the frizz in my hair, its a lot in the morning. She was great, she let me know each step and what each step was doing to my hair, which was similar to my last treatment, and watching her do it she was very careful with it all, and my hair cut was done exactly the way I needed it too afterwards :). Unfortunately, the reason I cant give it 5 stars is because after a week and a half, it had already fallen out. She said it wouldnt be perfect because it wasnt as harsh as other treatments and I have mixed race hair, but it should at least control the frizz which is what I needed at least. The first 2 washes was fine, the frizz was controlled. But now the frizz isnt even controlled and its still quite crimped. I believe this wasnt due to her ability, it was that the chemical just wasnt strong enough for my hair. I dont believe the treatment was worth 350$ to have it fall out this quickly though, and I will be going back in a month to just have it dyed instead which I would have opted for instead if it would not even control my frizz, and hoping to speak and work something with Amber since it fell out this quickly :(.

Taylor did an exceptional job with my hair yesterday! It was my first time going to this salon, and I was skeptical that I could get what I had in mind. However, Taylor was able to overcome the language barrier (English is my second language), understand what I wanted and go beyond that: she perfectly did a red tone balayage with some highlights to make it more fun! The cut and dry was perfect too. Also, the salon sells the right products to keep my red hair shining for long time (usually after 2 months it fades to orange)... Can't wait to see Taylor again in 3 months.

I just had my hair done by Radi and it is a work of art! Radi has been doing my hair for the last 3 years and every cut and colour has been outstanding. I have very thick hair with plenty of unruly cowlicks, and I have had difficulty finding a stylist that can manage my hair. Radi works with my hair so I don't have to struggle with up keep at all and it always looks amazing. A lot of people call them selves Master stylist, but Radi truly is THE MASTER stylist. I never get tired of people asking me who cuts my hair, or if they can get a picture of my hair. I couldn't ask for a better salon.

She really listened to me and I felt like we were on the same page, and she had such a great attitude! My hair turned out better than I imagined, she did an amazing job. I've booked an appointment at Volume salon for the first time and did not really know what to expect. So I will share my experience with you. I was greeted by the staff, and offered a cold or warm beverage. After that Michelle introduced herself and asked me for the reason of my visit. Once that was explained, we went over to another seat where she shampooed my hair and also massaged my scalp. It was really relaxing, and I really liked the smell of the shampoo. We headed back to her station where I received a really nice haircut. MICHELLE was really friendly and knew what she was doing. I will definitely come back. 5 stars from me!

Wonderful service here, from the very beginning to the end. It began with the promptness and warmth of the return call I got from the owner. I had left a message, pretty late the day before. It was great that there was on opening the next day. Then, soon as I walked into the salon, the ambiance/vibe was lovely. I was greeted warmly by the owner immediately and the receptionist was absolutely welcoming. The hairstylist I was assigned to was Amber. This was first time here and it tickled me to meet her! She has such the kind of edgy style and such a beauty too! I wanted my nearly black Asian hair turned blond/platinum. I also showed her a photo of the style I had in mind for the trim. She listened and with her years of excellent expertise, artistry and self-confidence, she delivered what I was looking for — above what I even expected! I felt cared for and heard in every way. Through it all, Amber was very methodical and made sure she let me know exactly what part of the process she was in as we went along. The color came out absolutely stunning. In fact, as I was getting finished up, a client was in the wait area and said, “Wow, that looks really beautiful...it’s like it was always your color!”. There more admiring eyes as I was settling my bill. I cannot speak highly enough about Volume Salon. Thank you to Amber, the receptionist and to the owner for providing a precious and joyful experience.

I had my haircut at Volume Salon for the first time in August. I wasn't in love with the cut (had to go home and cut my bangs as there were many pieces missed) but I decided to try again as the salon is very close to where I live and the reviews seemed to be mostly positive. When I called, there were many spots available with Tanis, who is a Senior Stylist, so that made me happy. Trying a new stylist for the first time can be stressful so I wanted someone with experience. My appointment was booked for 12:45pm for a women's haircut. The day of my appointment, the salon called me at 10am to reschedule my appointment for 2:45pm. I am a new mom to twin babies and my schedule isn't the most flexible but I was able to make it work. The salon called back a second time at 1:30pm to cancel my appointment! They did offer to have a Junior Stylist cut my hair but left me with zero confidence when I asked if she was good at cutting long hair. I denied the offer. I find it very hypocritical of a salon to charge their clients a cancelation fee if they do not give 24-48 hours notice, but have no problem with cancelling on a client in less than 2 hours. I obviously will never return to Volume or recommend them to friends or co-workers.

Let me just start by saying that this place was just beyond amazing! I had the pleasure of being served by Brooke and she is not only an amazing hair stylist but also so fun to be around! I have pitch black hair and wanted to get a caramel balayage and she delivered more than what I expected! She asked me questions every step of the way and made sure I’ll love the final result, which I did! I have really thick hair and a lot of it and most of the times in the past the hair stylists would make a big fuss about how much more work it is for them to do my hair but Brooke was so sweet and friendly and made me feel very comfortable and did not complain even once! She works fast but efficiently and I loved chatting with her. Everyone else at the salon also seemed very friendly and professional. I’m going to highly recommend this salon and specially Brooke to anyone who is on the fence! I will definitely be a permanent customer here!

I have lived in Edmonton for 11 years and had yet to find that person....until now! Michele is an amazing talented stylist. This girl is going places! The amount of knowledge she has at such a young age is astounding. I have seen her a few times and she has done some pretty crazy color transformations for me. Everyone else at the salon is very friendly and you can tell they are truly a team. Helping each other out to ensure clients get the best experience possible. This place is definitely not cheap, but you get what you pay for. And its worth every penny in my opinion.

I have the best hairdresser on the planet! Edward Scissorhands has nothing on him. If you want to be in a nice atmosphere, be treated like a VIP go to Volume. If you have loads of curly, uncontrollable hair like me ask for Rida. He has arms of steel for blowdrying!!! Plus the Keratin treatment is a marvel of the modern world for the curly haired. Pricey, but worth every penny.

First time to this salon. (Recently moved to Edmonton) Booked online which was very convenient for me. Location was great and good access to free parking. Was greeted upon my arrival by very friendly receptionist. Due to covid there was extra screening and cleaning in place. My stylist was on time and friendly. Apprentice did a great job washing and massaging my hair. Very relaxing and they had great shampoo chairs. Now the best part! I got the best hair cut I have ever had. I have short hair and it styles without product. I have put a little in to just see but I really dont need any. I am very happy. I will be back. Hope that this locally owned family business is around for a very long time.

This was my first visit to Volume. I checked the reviews of South Edmonton salons after a customer of mine mentioned they loved this salon. I called at 1200 and was able to get in on the same day! I am a busy person, so I really appreciate being able to book and get in on the same day. The location is easy to find, right on 23rd and lots of parking. The salon is beautiful and I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who offered me a beverage. Stacy was my stylist & she was excellent. She talked to me about what I had in mind and made some suggestions. I have very long hair and really wanted to cut a lot off but not want to add too many layers as I need to be able to wear it in a pony tail. She did a wonderful job and I love my new style. I will be back again & am super excited about the color she talked to me about!

They have good stylists here for the most part, I left with just what I asked for in terms of cut and colour, though I was not a fan of the style I left with and the stylist never actually asked me how I wanted it styled at the end of my appointment. Both stylists I've seen here really didn't know anything about curly hair. Curly hair is extremely common so I expected better in that area. It's a very small place with stations in close quarters to each other and no space or seating for a waiting area. The chairs are not very comfortable and the chairs at the sink do not have foot stools. It is very expensive here and I feel like I should not have been charged a 'consult' fee when I subsequently spent nearly $400 there. I also feel like for that price I should have gotten a decent scalp massage at the sinks, which I didn't feel I received.

It’s been 2 years since I’ve gotten my hair done, mostly because I have anxiety and salons make me very nervous. Let me tell you, this was the best experience I’ve had in a long time. I chose Maxwell through the recommendation of a friend and he was amazing. He was fast, precise, and gave me excellent service. The salon itself was decorated very well and spoke well towards the professionalism of the staff. There is plenty of parking and it’s easy to get to. I’ll definitely be returning and much sooner than 2 years.

Just had my hair done today by the stylist Taylor. Let me tell you, she is simply amazing! I couldn't be more grateful! She did such a wonderful job. My hair looks and feels amazing! I'm 6.5 months pregnant and wanted a change but didn't quite no what I wanted. I told her how I box dyed my hair once over a year ago. That was all I'd ever done to it and I really don't know what I want, I just want "new"???? Well she knew exactly what to do. She's so experienced and so considerate to my lifestyle that she gave me a wonderful cut and colour that will look good even as it grows out! She took into consideration that I'm a mom to a 2yr old and with one more on the way, I don't have much upkeep/maintenance time. She gave me a style & colour that would look amazing regardless of whether or not I had the chance to style it and a colour that wouldn't require regular appointments to keep looking good and that would still look amazing when while it grows out! I wish I knew the name of the style she gave me but this baby brain is bad lol????????‍♀️ However if you go see her and explain your wants/needs, I'm positive she will find something that is perfectly suited for you! I could not be happier with her service! She was such a delight to work with. Incredibly friendly, very professional and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her ???? You will not be disappointed! Also I should mention that the studio is very nice as well! The chairs are comfortable, the washing sink chair is also super comfy too and didn't bother my neck while leaned back to have my hair washed. Their bathroom is very neat and clean too. The whole studio is also very well ventilated. No smells bothered me whatsoever! The receptionists were very kind and pleasant and all around this was just a top notch experience! ????

I came to this salon because of the positive ratings and reviews on google. I came in for a simple haircut and this haircut ended up costing almost 95 dollars. That was the most over priced mediocre haircut i have ever recieved and i was not expecting to pay that much. Furthermore, I asked the lady to cut off half an inch of hair and she ended up cutting a little over an inch, how can i trust my stylist if i made it crystal clear to her that i do not want more cut off? The salon atmosphere and ambience was also underwhelming for what they charge. Not coming back for sure. Id rather get the same haircut somewhere else for cheaper and where they often even include a treatment in the cost.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. It's very clean, professional and the quality of work is off the charts. I've had my hair cut by every stylist except Radi and including a few no longer with the company, and I've yet to have a cut I didn't like. I've never really been keen on a dude cutting my hair but I tried Rida one time because he was the only one available on short notice and I've never been more blown away. The guy is super fast and does a phenomenal job. Although it is the most expensive cut in the salon, you definitely get what you pay for and now he is my regular stylist. I really appreciated that he gets the girls to wash my hair though, which makes a huge difference too. I really love this place, always playing top 40 music too. I highly recommend it to anyone who can afford a quality cut. From a fellow entrepreneur I give props to Radi and Rida for maintaining such high quality service. I know it held them back from expanding and I give them props for recognizing that the quality would suffer upon expanding. Much love to the crew at Volume and anyone who reads this! <3

Back in January, I made the bold decision to chop all my hair off. Unfortunately, I left Chatters and bawled my eyes out, I even went back the next day so the same stylist could hopefully fix it, but still, I wasn’t happy. About a week later my boyfriend was searching Edmonton salons, and reading reviews and told me I should give Volume a try, so I braved another salon one more time. I didn’t have an appointment, but that didn’t stop the friendly front desk staff from getting me in on a busy Saturday almost instantly! I sat down in Ambers chair and begged her to help me with my mess of hair, she didn’t have much to work with, but boy did she pull through. I left Volume relieved, satisfied, and I didn’t go home and cry, so that’s a win to me! I haven’t gone anywhere else since I’ve found Amber, she’s the perfect combination of spunky and professional, and her years of experience shine through every time. I think I’ve found my forever salon.

Yesterday was one of my best experience ever for my all entire life with hair salon. Volume hair salon is the best, my journey started with misunderstanding my request and my daughter’s, and I wanted one specific for keratin treatment and professional one, so I drove 38 km from NW to their place and they started to give me a hair cut and postponed my daughter as I arrived late with 1/2 hour, and I realized they will only go for deep conditioning , so I drove after my work 40 km late and getting nothing. Then they made a couple of calls to the manager , to confirm my story, and I told my self , I will leave without doing anything, and so as my daughter. But in a very short time, I just realized that the manager jumped to the place apologizing and very quickly like a rocket he started handling my hair professionally and my daughter and did the whole job nicely and professionally in a very short time. I knew later that he left his family dinner and past his sleeping time inorder to finish the job. Thank you so much Volume hair salon, and Radi, and definitely highly recommend it to anyone and It will definitely be my salon and my daughter as well. Thank you

You and the stylist will discuss the style you're going for and they'll always know just what you are looking for and know how to make it happen. I've had a few of the more "trendy" cuts over the years and have always been excited with the way they've turned out. My stylist has always been Radi, who is also the manager. I feel like I can trust him completely with my hair. Not only that, the atmosphere he and his staff create make you feel like family from the first visit. The staff take a personal approach to each client and often get to know each other very well. Add in the complementary coffee, tea or wine and it really puts Volume at the top of the class. My partner and I were looking for a new stylist. I was looking for someone who could give me back my hair after a not so good experience at another salon. I have very dark curly hair and I asked the hairdresser to bring back some more volume and, if she needed to, make the length of my hair shorter to blend the layers in. I also asked her to do a full dye to refresh my color and to cover my roots (and a few evil white hairs... Ahem). I even showed her a picture of what my hair used to look like a couple years ago with big volume. The color turned out nice except that it did not take to my roots... to the point where there was no point to have colored it at all. The cut is nothing short of horrible. I now have box hair. The top is nice and curly but uneven, the bottom length is shorter and the middle has no layers what-so-ever. There is no blending at all. I take great pride in my hair but now I am very disappointed and embarrassed. I am also out $240 for a really crappy hair cut. I guess my hunt for a stylist continues... My partner had a different stylist who while cutting her hair admitted to using scissors that were dull!! The stylist cut her hair way to short so it is nearly impossible to style it, the foils of color barely took at all and what did take was cut all off. We are both so very disappointed. The salon was an okay size but there was not nearly enough seats to sit and wait. There were a bunch of people just standing all jammed up in the front just waiting. Very uncomfortable. Needless to say, neither my partner nor I will ever come back.

Where do I begin. When I walked into the salon the older woman "receptionist" says to me, "you look lost" in an attempt to be funny I suppose? I didn't find it amusing. What kind of greeting is that? I found her to be rude and a terrible communicator which is ironic because she is the receptionist...Once I was in the stylists chair that was closest to the receptionist desk I showed him a picture of what I had in mind and he made me feel confident that he could cut my hair how I wanted it. He was busy talking to basically everyone in the salon but myself the whole hair cut, laughing and joking with the other staff and I suppose he forgot what he was doing because my hair looks horrible and nothing like how I wanted it. He thinned it out way, way too much now it feels limp and lifeless and used a razor on my ends which Ive never had in the past and my ends feel worse than before. Over priced salon and TERRIBLE customer service. I regret being kind and saying I liked it and paying full price. I wanted to get my hair done for an upcoming family wedding. I had a consultation and felt good about returning for my actual appointment. My daughter asked if it would be possible to get her hair done also and when I called to check availability they were very accommodating. We both walked out of our appointments feeling very pleased with our hairstyles. The stylists were excellent in listening to what we were looking for. The pricing was very reasonable. We have another family wedding next summer and we will absolutely be booking appointments to get our hair done at Volume !

I am the worlds pickiest person when it comes to my hair. I haven't been to a salon in years because of my terrible luck with stylists and it's not like I've been to salons with terribly inexperienced stylists. I've always chosen very high end salons but have always ended up with a botched job and paying the full price as well. But my hair color was just looking super dull from all the DIY and I couldnt stand it anymore, so I thought I would give volume salon a try based on the high reviews and a recommendation. Honesty I have never walked out of a salon actually being happy with my hair...untill I went to volume salons. Max was my stylist and he was great, I didn't have to explain for a decade about what I wanted and end up with the exact opposite. He knew exactly what I wanted with a brief exchange of words and I ended up with exactly what I asked for. I love my hair! I've already gotten so many compliments on the color. I'm so happy I actually found a great salon and a talented stylist. I will definitely be back :)

I have been going to Volume Salon for close to nine years now and I am amazed every time I go in. The staff there are extremely friendly and always adhere to my wants and needs. Upon entering, I am always greeted with warm smiles and the offering of a beverage, which always makes me feel at home. Radi and Lauren are the two hair dressers that I see, and they are always suggesting and trying new ideas out on my hair. Just recently, I overheard/watched Lauren work with a new client, and talked with her for close to an hour about what she wanted and different options to choose from. That right there is pure dedication and what helps the salon succeed. Highly recommend!

I looked for highly rated places to get your hair done, because I wanted blonde done right, so I trusted the reviews. Never been so disappointed in my hair. When I looked in the mirror after almost 2 hours of work I wanted to cry. I looked over to my boyfriend sitting in the chair across from me and even he made a face. It was the furthest thing from what I wanted done to my hair, after having a consultation with pictures for a reasonable request (for someone with that skill set should know how to do) I was reassured that my stylist was confident enough to do the color. She didn’t discuss prices with me until I called at a later date and quoted me at $360, roughly. After the appointment I smiled and tried to be positive in saying it isn’t that bad, itll get fixed, it’s just hair, etc. BUT my hair is still almost the exact same as when I came in but twice as damaged. I’m not much further to being a blonde, (which happens quite easily on my fine hair) and it looks borderline green in some lighting. HOWEVER I do want to say I did my research, did some instagram searching and found an amazing stylist in Edmonton that is exceptional with blondes. She agrees my hair is absolutely butchered and this shouldn’t have been so hard to achieve in the first place if the stylist had the skill set. The stylist at volume should’ve been honest with herself and understood her limits instead of treating my hair like a practice dummy. I WANTED to pay a lot because I wanted time and skill put into becoming a healthy blonde again. If I could go back in time I would have refused to pay $330 because I expected a level of service in which I did not receive. Now I’ll be paying LESS than that for FAR more quality work elsewhere to fix what Volume is responsible for. Read all the reviews, do your research, don’t go blonde here.

It was my first time at this salon and I chose to come here because of all the positive reviews. I was not disappointed at all! I was greeted warmly and immediately upon arrival, the receptionist addressed me by my name. My hair stylist was Brooke, and she listened to exactly what I wanted and offered suggestions as to what she thought would be better suited for me. Brooked was friendly and engaging, and even though she hasn’t been in the industry for many years like the senior or master stylists, she was exceptionally professional and knew what she was doing. I would absolutely book with Brooke again because she gave me such a positive experience!

It was not good. I dont usually complain but i was not impressed, i feel i could have got the same level of service for less than half the cost at somewhere like supercuts. Said i wanted it cut a bit shorter and layered, she seemed slightly irritated at this, maybe i wasnt specific enough? Not sure. Then went for hair wash and first rinse was done with cold water, not exactly comfortable at all. She rinsed a couple more times and was at least with warmer water those times. I overheard her talking earlier with a coworker that she was was almost off and i questioned her as well and she said i was her last appt. Well i could definitely tell she wanted to leave because it didnt seem like she cared that much with being careful, she would literally grab chunks of my hair and quickly cut it off, she basically got to it immediately after i sat back in the chair. She ended up cutting way too much off (not surprising by the way she was cutting it) from what i wanted. However for some reason she left my bangs much longer in the middle of my forehead, i need to use product to lift it up so it doesnt look ridiculous (not something i said i wanted to do beforehand either) especially since everything else is so short now. She also asked if i wanted the back of my head at the bottom of my hairline cut naturally or straight, i said natural so she cut it so that the left and right sides were kept considerably lower than the middle so that it is arched, however it feels like its a good half inch at least lower than the middle, it does not look natural and is way too heavily arched. At each side is also straight cut for about a quarter an inch so it just looks off imo. At the end of the cut she finally asked "how is this looking" with a tone that felt like she didnt really care how i answered it. And honestly i was not happy with it at that time but i felt it would do nothing benefitial for me to try and ask her to correct it since she clearly just wanted to leave. Not impressed.

I was charged $147.00 to have the white roots of my hair turned a blue/gray color. Thank God for Bumble and Bumble color spray that can cover the horrible color until my regular stylist comes back to Edmonton in May. I did ask for a refund, but was told that I would have to return to the Salon for the owner to see my hair within 7 days, but he isn't there next week so I would have to wash my already dried out hair again as he needs to "see" the blue/grey roots. Other stylists saw it, the stylist who did it saw my hair and offered to redo it on the same day which isn't good for your hair at all. She wasn't even sure what went wrong. I am not returning, and I thank God for color spray so I can go to my son's birthday celebration without light blue/grey inch long roots today. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RETURN TO THIS SALON!!!!!!!!

I got the hair Botox procedure. I have 18 inches of 3a-b hair and in the summer time if my hair is straight it normally gets very frizzy due to the heat and humidity here in Edmonton. I got the desired result! My hair now has minimal frizz after straightening and lasts. The experience was very expensive $100 down and $525 for the treatment, you'll have to get the shampoo and conditioner to ensure the longevity of the Botox (3 mos) and I also got a trim ($75). Overall, the service was great, and the stylist was friendly and professional. It was a good once in a lifetime experience. I would recommend a consultation first if you have long curly hair like me and if you're on a budget.

Had my very first perm! My stylist was careful to ensure I knew exactly what it entailed, what my options were, and that I didn't have any misconceptions about what to expect with a real perm. (Not what you necessarily see in photos online). I had agreed earlier that I would only get a cut and consult about the perm, but she fit me in that day. It's been 3 days, and one shampoo, and I absolutely love it. I think it looks totally natural, couldn't be happier!

Hello, It was the worst experience ever for me at this place. I was here a month ago for keratin treatment. My hair was frizzy and rough and hence I thought doing a keratin which I thought might help smoothen my hair. This place quoted me for 250 $ for the whole treatment when I booked the appointment. And, when I was there the treatment took just an hour and a half. They just applied a keratin cream on my hair and let it sit for half an hour, which I think was not how it was supposed to be. They later straightened my hair with an hair straightener. They said and guaranteed that it would stay like this for 6 to 8 weeks. Unfortunately, in couple of days after I had a shower I see hair had no changes in them. It was still frizzy and tougher than it was before. They had burnt my hair. This place is a rip off as they charged me 350$ when they had already quoted me on 250. This is not how I expected volume to be. So so so very disappointed.!!!! I would not even give a 0.5 out of 5 for this place. All in all I paid 350 $ just to straighten my hair which obviously I could have done it myself at home with my own straightener!!!!!!

I could not let 2018 start without posting this review because it has been hanging over my head for months! This review is about a cut and color I received from master stylist and owner, Radi Jaber. After several recommendations I set up a consultation with Radi to talk about a suitsble cut for my fine hair. He assured me that he had much experience working with thin hair. He told me a close family member of his has thinner hair than mine and that over the years he has successfully cut and coloured her hair to give the illusion of "volume" Radi totally sold me on his skills and abilities and I was excited! I brought along pictures of various cuts including a recent picture that was taken showing the back of my hair. Radi reassured me that we would not want to take very much length off the back of my hair because of the need for coverage. I was so relieved because this was where I needed a lot of expertise! I was starting a new chapter in my life and was just a week away from a dream trip to Europe! What happened next was a nightmare! I ended up with an all over colour that was too dark and highlights that were not subtle as promised and consequently in trying to cover his mistake, Radi cut out all the highlights at the back of my head leaving me almost bald! Skilled at his craft, he used enough power from his blow dryer and enough product to cover the holes he left on the back of my head. It wasn't until I washed my hair and looked that I saw the scope of the mess he left me with! I cried for an entire day. I went and bought a wig. I called and made an appointment to see Radi. He refused to take ownership of his mistake although he did say he would like the opportunity to "fix" my hair which in itself was an admission of guilt. There was nothing to fix! He couldn't grow my hair back and cover the two bald spots on the back of my head! He offered a "bleach rinse" to lighten the overall colour or to "buzz" my hair completely!! Seriously!! I could have paid a barber $10 to do that! The bleach rinse was a terrible idea given my head already looked like I had been the victim of chemical warfare! He charged me $235 for the cut and colour and explained that he was giving me a discount for the highlights because he ended up not putting very many highlights in!! That was a lie... I was there! He put a bunch of highlighted foils in the back of my head and then cut them all out!! And then covered up his mistake. I told him that I thought a refund was in order. He was very arrogant stating he does not give refunds and stands behind his work. I couldn't believe it!!! I was shocked! I said to him "you mean you are not going to own any part of this??" He said NO! Sadly he didn't offer me anything in compensation. He could have offered a credit with another stylist or a credit for product but he offered nothing! He actually said to me "do you know how embarrassing it is for you to come here and question me, a master stylist?" I later thought I should have responded by saying "do you know how embarrassing it is to be walking around almost bald!" The whole thing left me in a terrible state.. I wore a wig for 3 months - every single person in my life who saw what he did was mortified for me and could not believe that he didn't own up to his mistake. The most skilled artists, tradespeople, business people, make mistakes... we are human. My rating for this salon is based on the fact that I was charged $235 (a discounted price) for a horrible hair cut and color, but mostly because the owner of that salon was too proud to admit his failing. That does not sit right with me and I thought I owed it to other women who take time to do their homework, my experience at this salon. I have pictures that I wanted to post but have no idea how to post them! This is my first time doing an online rating and believe me, I am not doing this out of spite. I am doing it because I was wronged and I needed to speak up!

With its unusual formations, thick and coarse hair, my 'head' is NOT one that just anybody can cut...and have it look like something intentional. Terrible experience. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. My mum got a dye and cut. We noticed afterwards there was still see Grays. I got a style and the curls didn't last 30 minutes. I mentioned this to the stylist that my hair has to be blown out a different way and she insisted on doing it her way, which I knew wouldn't work. The money I paid is not worth the experience at all. I have been to many other places in Edmonton, and can advise not going here. I mentioned to the receptionist my experience and she just smiled without acknowledging my concerns. I stumbled across Volume quite by happenstance. I was on the receiving end of a botched cut and colour at another salon and needed it to be fixed. I googled salons that were close and after reading the reviews and seeing their previous work, I decided it was a superior, reputable salon that I could trust to fix the mess of another. I called and they suggested I come right away and have a stylist look at it. I was still feeling a bit traumatized and embarrassed but I was greeted with a friendly smile that put me at ease. It was early evening and the place was a hive of activity and all the staff, stylists, customers were smiling and happy. I was then introduced to my miracle worker, Gabriella who was sympathetic, understanding and genuinely friendly. Thankfully she was able to book me in for the next morning after we had decided our plan of action and I was able to leave knowing I was in good hands. As for my appointment day, everything from the smiling, friendly nature of every single person in the salon to the cup of tea, glass of wine and Christmas cookies to my amazing cut and colour was top notch and like nothing I have experienced in a hair salon before. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the service I received.
