For a few years now my family has been using Matrix Salon as our go to Salon & Barber, and for good reason. Jay, Moezy, and Jonas have done an amazing job keeping the men in my family looking sharp and ready for any event. I recently visited the salon with a vision of a new me, I wanted something new and fresh. Yanna was brilliant! Tossing a new challenge at her with pictures I found on Instagram and google she was able to make my dream look come to life.. ^^ Such a Pro^^ I love everyone at Matrix they are all amazing at what they do and they all work together to accomplish the clients end goal.

I have never left a review before but felt this situation deserved it. Please read to the end as I did have a happy ending. However, I have to share the good with the bad to show the whole picture. I went to this salon for the first time yesterday and got my curly hair, cut. I always wear it naturally and do not use any product or heat on it. Unfortunately, the man that cut my hair straightened and then cut my hair and finished it with oil; leaving a very unflattering haircut after I washed it and even at that, did not cut my hair well. I called in today and spoke with Kelly (the manager). I very briefly told him I wasn’t happy with my haircut. He scheduled me in to fix my hair (even though he was fully booked) for the same evening. I have grad tomorrow and couldn’t have it cut any other time. He cut my hair beautifully! He walked me through every step and how to make my curly hair nicer. He was even cautious of my new cartilage piercings. I left the salon the second time, happy and wishing I had payed him for my haircut (he fixed it for free); he deserves every penny. He even sold me on a foam for my hair and I don’t even use products, but will certainly use this one.He was knowledgeable, meticulous, kind and very upfront( never denying how I felt or the situation like most managers).He never once made me feel like a nagging customer. Overall, this salon is clean, well maintained, decently priced and I received one beautiful haircut. Every other person I saw, walked out with wonderful hair. The other hairdressers were equally kind to their clients and I feel that my first experience does not reflect the salon as a whole, only the sole hairdresser. I would feel comfortable having my hair cut with any of the other hairdressers at this salon.They have a strong customer base and I would recommend booking an appointment as opposed to a walk in. This is the first haircut I have had, that has made me want to return to a salon. I will be returning, along with the rest of my family and will be spreading the word. Wonderful business! Thank you so much Kelly, for your time and kindness. UPDATE 09/01/20: My family and I still go to this salon for our haircuts and we are still impressed with the superb service we receive every time. I have recommended Kelly and his team to many people and I hope that anyone reading this review will give them a try too : )

Today was my second time at this salon, and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. It seems everyone here is passionate about what they do, and it really shows in their work. All three ladies working tonight were friendly and really seemed to like working together. I used to visit cheap and convenient places, but the service at those establishments was always hit or miss. This salon offers a reasonable and affordable price for a haircut, and yet the service is above and beyond. 100% would recommend.

The place is clean, has good seating and the wait time was very short. If you are a guy with long hair and want to maintain it this is the place to go as someone who has tried multiple barber shops this is the only place I've found that has done that for me.

I had tried dying my hair blue at home over the weekend with semi permanent colour and it didn’t take to my hair so even after washing it twice and drying it completely, even when it was dry is was still staining everything blue. So I quickly called around the next day to see if a salon could help me stop the colour bleeding. It was my first time coming here and Tracy was able to get me in that day. The safest option for my hair was to colour it very dark to stop the blue colour bleeding and to keep my hair healthy. Tracy did such a wonderful job on my hair, I’ve never had it this dark before, but I’m so so happy with it! It stopped the blue staining and my hair looks and feels very healthy. I left the salon feeling a lot better. I’ll definitely be going to her again for my next cut/colour! (:

We chatted about what I wanted, he looked over some photos I had and made a few suggestions. We were certainly on the same page about the style of cut. Before diving in, he made sure I was ready for a change. Lol... I was more than ready!! About 45min later, I had a sassy new cut and it looks FANTASTIC!!! I got my haircut here for the first time, last week. First haircut in more than a year as I was not comfortable going until 2 weeks post first vaccine. I had to wait a week to review because I wanted to see just how my curly hair looked after a couple washings and styling on my own Great cut, great price and I felt super comfortable there despite the pandemic. Have tried to find a good salon for 4 years now. And have always been disappointed. And now I've found Matrix. I got the best hair cut of my life. Seriously. The first hair cut of 29 years I haven't had to fix at home myself. They didn't make me get my hair washed, and the stylist understood my thick, unruly hair needs to be cut dry. She asked all the right questions, and actually listened to my suggestions. I've been growing out a terrible cut, and she evened it up, managed to hide the super short piece, thin it out, add layers, and still have it long enough to tie back. This will be the one place I will go from here on out. Side note: While I was there I saw the owner doing several children's hair cuts, and he's great with kids!

Im not sure who I saw for foils but my hair was so burned. It cost me $300 and 4 hours at the salon. At the end of the 4 hours I was told I would have to come back for a second coloring and more money. My hair was very healthy when I walked in, now it is burned and dry. It is also breaking off so much that I had to cut my long hair. The stylist also burned my skin and ears. When I went back to show them the damage, they said they canceled my next appointment, without an apology. Cuts are great but do not let them foil your hair.

I always get very nervous when I want to go in to chop my hair off. Today I went in as a walk-in. I had to wait about 30 minutes. Let me tell you it was worth the wait. I will be returning for sure. It was nice because the person who cut my hair wasn't overly chatty I think she picked up on the fact I'm okay sitting quietly. She let me know exactly how short she was planning to cut it and did a very thorough job. It seemed pretty busy so appointments are recommended. I'm very happy with what I got. She gave me her card and let me know her hours.

Yanna is the hairdresser I have been going to for about 8 months or so. When I first went to her I had long hair that was shapeless and lifeless and did not suit me. She listened to what I wanted, looked at the pictures I had saved and gave me exactly what I wanted. My hair is now short with an undercut a very beautiful colour of bleached blonde with pretty toners. People actually come up to me in public places to compliment my hair. It’s amazing!! I have always been nervous to go to hairdressers and usually leave feeling disappointed and ashamed for not feeling like I could speak up. Right away with Yanna i was made to feel comfortable and like she really did care how I looked when I walked out of there. She is an artist. Plain and simple. Hair is her medium and her skill with colour is top notch. I recommend Matrix salon and Yanna.

I am very fussy I had been doing my own hair for years bad experiences at overpriced wont name salons.I wanted my long hair short I asked for an experienced stylist and that is what I got. I told Jonas what I wanted he made a few suggestions which I went with yet still giving me what I had asked to be done. honesty and confidence and talent he was born with equals Jonas.I get compliments now and was told I looked 10 years younger. and the prices are very affordable. salon is very clean and modern. and the young man up front was very friendly on phonè and in person. and so many complomentsmy hair was long wanted cut short he suggested shoulder length for now.wanted layers he advised my hair was too thin already and part my hIr on opposite side i wanted and bangs which i didnt have. thats a what sets him above others.honesty and cofidence.talked enough to set me at ease but not too much that its annoying and distracting.and he stayed focused on me.

What great staff at this salon. Seems like it is a family oriented business. My 4 year old daughter wanted pink hair. Boy oh boy did this salon deliver. Two weeks ago, I studied the rants and raves of numerous hair salons in northeast Edmonton; after reading about 100, and getting extremely stressed, I came across Matrix on 50th Street. All the reviews were great. I called and inquired about an appointment to get my 94-year old mom’s hair shampooed and styled. The last year of covid had not been kind to her, with weekly hairdressing services no longer an option at the seniors’ facility. We had been to another hairdresser every 3 months or so, but I think some fail to remember that no matter how old a person is, he/she still wants to look good in order to feel good. I was able to get an appointment with Kelly, who I believe is also the manager, to do Mom’s hair two days later. We were very nervous because, by this time, she did not have a lot of hair left to work with. Twenty minutes later, Kelly was finished. Mom’s hair had shape, some bounce to it, the white seemed even more radiant. And what’s even better is that it is basically wash’n wear... two minutes with a blow dryer, a dot of gel, and Mom is good to go. She looks 10-15 years younger. Thank you Kelly! We will both be back in four weeks!

My hairdressers name was Yanna and she spent 6hrs on my what WAS awful hair, and turned me into a hair model by the end of my visit!! It doesn’t matter how you walk in, you’re walking out like a rockstar! The six hours that I sat there every person that came in ended up leaving and beyond satisfied and everybody looked amazing! This is a very friendly environment and definitely would want to be your regular hair salon!

Been here a few times in the past and had decent experiences. Thought I would come back after my previous experience at a different salon wasn’t the best. I took some time off work for my birthday to be able to get some much needed work done only to come in and find out that the person I spoke to didn’t schedule me in. They took my name which I spelt out for them and my phone number, asked what I wanted done.. thought it was weird to be scheduled for an appointment a couple hours to closing when I asked for blonde highlights, didn’t think much of it though. When I was in the shop no one could own up to the mistake they did when asked. It was embarrassing and a waste of my time and I will not be back ever again. Thanks.

I came to Edmonton for a visit. Just happened to stumble across the Matrix Salon and am I ever glad i did. Walked in feeling terrible about the bad color I had in and walked out feeling like a million bucks. Samantha assured me that Kelly ( the owner) would be the man to fix my bad color up and she was right. He did an absolutely amazing job, I couldn't be happier. She is professional, very experienced, talented and honest. I have been getting my hair cut here for a while now. But yesterday's service was the best yet. I explained what I was trying to achieve (grow my hair out) and the stylist completely understood and did a perfect job. I am so happy with my cut. I got my hair cut here not too long ago... I just wanted a hair cut. I waited over 10 minutes for the stylist to get ready... Then it took her an hour to cut my hair. I asked for the best cut for curly hair... She straighten my hair before cutting it... I did not ask for a style at all. I told her I wear it curly almost all the time. I paid 42$ for a bad hair cut... She didn't even part my hair or ask how I normally part it... She just used the part I came in with which was... Not very good... When I washed my hair and styled it as normal... Curly... My hair looks like a triangle... I'm not impressed or very happy especially when reviewing your website and seeing that a cut costs between 25-37 dollars.

I have been to Matrix Salon a few times now. Each time, they were friendly and prompt. Yanna cut my hair and gave me hilights. She did such a good job. The colour is vibrant, well placed.
