For the last two years I have been looking for a good hair dresser in Edmonton. I have tried 6 different salons with highly recommended stylists. The best they could do was mediocre. Never satisfied, I continued my search. With Melissa, at Fuss Art of Hair, I have found my new forever stylist. She is a good listener and hears what I want and need in a cut and colour. Her skills to create a great cut and colour are amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her highly.

I have been looking for a hairstylist in Edmonton for a while now and I've had okay and not-so-okay experiences but never found someone that I fully trust with my hair until now. Colleen is AMAZING and here is why: 1. She spends time with you before the haircut to get to know your hair and understand what you want. If you bring 5 or 10 different inspiration pictures she'll take the time to go through them and give you her opinion. She truly wants to make sure that your expectations are very clear. 2. She gives the greatest scalp massages. I know this is not important to everyone but it just makes the experience so much more pleasant. 3. During the haircut, she refers back to the inspiration pictures several times and explains to you what she's doing. 4. She also asks if it's okay to do this and that before doing it, so you're more in control and don't have to wait until you have a bad haircut to point out that there's something you would've liked done differently. 5. She's gentle and clearly very experienced. The salon is also VERY clean and comfortable, and everyone is very nice. I got a short haircut for the first time and I couldn't be more pleased. I definitely recommend her.

went in with colored hair from other salon. was not happy with it so decided to get it fixed with this place. Had lot of discussion with the stylist showed her picture and confirmed with her she understood that i want this dark brown hair can we get it and she said yes. thats why i went ahead and got it. But its still so light its not the brown i wanted. karen was super nice and gentle nice service but i am extremely sad with the hair color. Its not the dark i wanted its very light. Money was a waist. :( i wanted to get it done for brother wedding.

My experience is that every stylist here is not only skilled but also gives that extra bit to every cut. My cuts keep their style a long time! The atmosphere in the salon is comfortable, like being in a cafe with a view of the River Valley. I've been a Fuss client for years and have no thoughts of looking elsewhere.

Unlike my past hairdressers, she keeps me laughing the whole time and has more to say than just ask "watch any good movies lately?" in the last 5 minutes of my appointment. But the HAIR! I just went here yesterday to get a new hairstyle and have my hair dyed (for the first time) with Melissa. This is my second time seeing her, and 2 for 2 I came out loving the experience and loving how I felt/looked with my new hair. This time, she did exactly what I wanted her to do without looking at any reference photos. I feel she is passionate, knowledgable and in tune with her clients to know exactly what flatters their face/style and personality. Although her prices is what some might consider expensive, I feel it is worth every dollar when I get my hair done by her. I am so happy and will continue to come here, I've never felt this way about a stylist/salon before and I've been to so many both franchised and local salons. Fuss and Melissa are my favourite by far. :-) I also love the product lines they carry - products are never forced throughout an appointment. Melissa has taught me how to use things or what she uses to style my hair, so it's a win-win.

Shocked..I pre-booked an appointment with Andor well in advance, believing that he was a professional who could work with complicated styles and cuts. As I live 3.5 hrs away I was unable to manage a pre-consultation so I sent an email detailing my wishes (I have healthy hair, no color damage or styling damage, short - med length) and requested a cut (bob)that requires no styling products and an edgy colour. I was polite and open minded to his input (in fact I was looking forward to it) and he basically stated that he was particular about his clients and that he felt I wouldn't be a good fit as I offered too many restrictions to his style. I am literally flummoxed and very disappointed. What is the use in making an appointment with a master stylist let alone a salon owner who is not up to a challenge? Seriously I was just looking for a bi-level bob with an ombra based silver edging. I have to say this just blew me away. I did a lot of research before booking this appointment and did not think that this would be beyond his capability. My reply to the owner's reply on my review: Sorry Andor, I have to call malarky on your reply. A direct quote from your voice mail after you reviewed my thorough e-consultation (a courtesy from me as your receptionists never indicated at any time during my initial call and follow up that a consultation was required for having my hair cut by you), which clearly had photos of my current hair cut, hair health status and several photos that I was looking at for a starting poing for a cut as well as me stating that basically I was looking for a cut that was superb enough to withstand no styling products and work as a wash and go (which according to your voice mail, really any master stylist should be able to accommodate easily). Your voice message: "Shani, after checking your email I have to cancel our appointment, I am very selective about the clients I choose and I don't get a good feeling about us working together, as there are just too many restrictions for me, however, there are plenty of stylists in Edmonton who are very good and can help you achieve the cut you want". So what I am getting from your reply to my review is that you felt that a precision bob with ombra silver highlights was beyond your capacity to accommodate based on ALL of the information and photos provided to you via email consultation. If so many talented stylists would be able to provide the look I was going for, should this not have been within your capacity? The bottom line is you just didn't want to do it (whatever your reasons). You should have just been honest in your phone message said so rather than compound the situation by offering a weak excuse like you were not sure as to whether you would be able to provide superior service as a reply to my 1 star review in order to make your business and yourself come off a bit less unprofessional. It would have been more professional and welcoming for you to say,"OK, I have seen your email, I have some suggestions that we could work together on, now we have a basis to start". I would have been very open to this as I mentioned in the email I initially sent you. I can honestly say if we members of the Canadian Armed Forces were as restrictive of the people we protect and serve as you are in selecting clientele, I am sure this country would look a much less sunny place.

I absolutely love this place! Every time I need a haircut I'll go to see Toma and she's amazing at was she does. I let her surprise me every time, and she always knows exactly what I like and I can trust her to choose a cut that looks great on me. The atmosphere of this place is great, everyone is really professional and friendly and they'll take your coat and get you a coffee while you wait. Some might be intimidated by the prices, but you really get what you pay for. I wouldn't trust a $20 cut with my hair, and there's nowhere else I'd rather go, even just for a trim. There are amazing colouring options too if that's your thing, and they're always open to cool new hair ideas.

Andor is a hair artist. His knowledge of trends, balance, weight distribution, cutting techniques, and a woman's emotional connection to hair and beauty are second to none. When I go to his salon, I fully trust that I'll get a fabulous cut that reflects who I am and how I'm feeling. I also know it will look just as wonderful as it grows out until my next cut. Andor was recommended to me by my sister, after a long, unhappy time trying out different stylists. I've now been with him at FUSS for nearly 10 years, with a single exception (only because he had no openings available to style my hair for an event, and I'll never stray again--it felt like cheating!). Despite my vague descriptions of what I want, like, "Can you give me a rock star cut from the 1930s, with a little jagged swoopy thing?", Andor intuitively understands exactly what I'm looking for. I'll see Andor until I die. Edit: 16 years now seeing Andor for my hair, and I still love him.

Buyers beware: these guys charge $70 for a regular men's haircut. I was in and out in 25 minutes, ok haircut but nothing special. I was a little disgusted when I was handed the debit machine. Nowhere do they advertise their pricing so the lady at the front just handed me their machine and I saw 68$ appear. Even the fanciest hipster Barber places only charge 50, and they at least get you a beer. Will not be returning.

*edit 2018- owner Andor has been working with me since to fix my hair. I would recommend the salon, but not stylist Taylor. Andor is great! Absolutely horrendous experience today. Went in for some grey coverage and a new grey toned style. Ended up with disgusting green hair. Stylist removed the green but now I have horribly dry brittle hair, no grey coverage and a colour I don't like or want. Stylist was running late for the next appointment a "kids haircut" and kicked me out without an apology or anything much more to say. He had no time to even talk to me. I was booted out with sopping wet hair (wouldn't even dry it) and told if I wanted to come back he'd fit me in. I've never been so upset leaving a salon in my life.

I got a hair color (balayage) and cut with Gina yesterday and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a while. I went in there with a picture of the hair I wanted to achieve and she guided me with the right shades that would fit my skin tone but still have the desired hair I wanted. She was great and easy to talk to. So, I had no problem of being able to communicate with her throughout the process. The color turned out fantastic and my hair cut was just what I wanted. The price was just what I expected for the process. So, I wasn't surprised. I also love their location in SK drive. I didn't know this but there are 4 parking stall for Fuss behind the bldg.

This place is awesome. I have had many stylists over the years who worked on my long hair but the cut never made my standards. Many stylists be they men or women have a hard time styling my long wavy hair. My stylist Allison knows a lot about hair and is competent in producing the hairstyle she explains she is going to create for you. I look forward to seeing her for the next two years as I grow my hair long. By the way, I should mention that it is a difficult undertaking to make a man look good in long hair but I trust Allison can do it.

Thomas Millar has been cutting and colouring my hair for a year now. Without a doubt these are the best cuts and colour I have ever received. I have had my hair cut at comparable salons in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary and none of them compare, some of them were very expensive. Thomas works his craft with an artists experience and sensibilities. He takes his time with you so that he knows and understands what you are looking for and then offers his professional advice with clear and sound explanations. I have trusted him each and every time and have never been disappointed. From the first one to the present, I have left the salon with a cut that grows out beautifully in the seven weeks between my appointments. My colour is rich and natural not to mention the Kevin Murphy colouring system is so pleasant. No harsh odours at all. My biggest shout out for Thomas are all the compliments I have received from friends, family and strangers. There have even been a couple of copycat cuts. My son and his fiance referred me to Fuss Art of Hair after I had complimented them on the fabulous cuts they received with their stylists. I am travelling from outside the city and it is totally worth it. I look forward to each appointment.

This is my first time at Fuss after 20 years with my hair stylist who retired. I had Colleen who was wonderfully patient and a great stylist. I had to tell her I really did not know what style I want and she really worked with me to get the right length and layering - a no "fuss" hair style that still looks feminine :) With my old stylist, I just sit down and let him do whatever and I am sure I will be doing that with Colleen too on the next appointment. The salon is bright with floor to ceiling windows and there is parking in the back. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

After having had numerous horrible cuts and hair-dye experiences, I was so relieved to find Colleen at Fuss Art of Hair. She consistently gives me amazing hair cuts and is equally good at colouring my hair. I have a full head of coarse hair that naturally grows out in the shape of a triangle, but Colleen is able to properly layer and texturize it so that I can wear it long or short - something that other hairdressers have been unable to do for me!

Was able to book in with Andor on short notice due to a cancellation and it is probably the best cut I have ever had. This is a super high end salon and you pay for what you get, which is excellence. Yet despite being high end, I received a warm and down to earth welcome and experience. It is so hard for me to find people I can trust for a great cut and even tougher for me to feel adjusted and happy with a cut as I walk out versus at least a few days later. I love my hair and as a performer, my hair is part of my business. Thank-you Andor. FUSS is great.

It was my first time at this hair salon. I decided to try it out based on the great reviews. Very disappointed. Extremely overpriced for the service you receive. I asked for "highlights" which actually look like streaks from 2004 and a lob that is a bob that flips out. I thought I would give it a couple of days to get used to and still disliked it. The salon emailed me asking for a review so I let them know how I felt about my hair and the experience. OVER A WEEK AND NO RESPONSE. Save your self the money and go to SOHO where you get quality service and they actually care.

First of all depending on who you see and their experience will determine how much you get charge per haircut, like most studios, you'll get charged based on that person's experience. I've been going to fuss over the last couple years, after being locked into a value plan with one of Edmonton's highest rated men's barbers. Saying buyer beware men's haircuts are $70 just shows how aware you were when booking your haircut. They have all the prices posted for each individual artist, on there website. Prices are posted, so I don’t understand, if you can’t afford something then done purchase it. Thats the same type of person who eats a restaurant, complains of the prices after receiving the bill and doesn’t tip... here’s a tip for you do everyone a favour and stay home and microwave your hungry man dinner and cut your own hair.

For the upcoming Halloween date, and other awesome reasons, I decided to dye my hair completely light green. I had tried dying my hair at home but it began to fade quickly so I decided to have it done professionally. I met with Allison Takacs when I vistied fuss hair, she was super sweet and very knowledgable. I appreciated that she took time explaining every step throughout the dying process, and how adding certain ingredients or avoiding certain habits would prolong the brightness and colour of my green hair, as time went on. She answered all of my questions, (I had quite a few!) and even texturized my hair and showed me how to attain the style I wanted.
