I got my hair cut today and I HATE the way it turned out. It was shorter than I asked for...making my already round face look even rounder. I feel like a snowman. I hate the ombre I got done...it looks like weird thin highlights and there is no apparent transition from my natural colour to the blonde. My head is 80% blonde. It's going to take me forever to grow it out to a level where it looks nice. She also gave me a blonde colour that does not suit my colouring at all and I look super washed out. I'm so frustrated because I never get my hair cut professionally because I can't afford it, but I made this appointment to treat myself since my life has been the worst lately. I spent almost $200 (which I wasn't expecting and can't afford) on hair that I hate and feel miserable in. I do have to say that the staff were all really nice and the salon was clean and beautiful. I felt very spoiled and happy until about half way into my haircut. Despite this, I hate how much I spent on hair that makes me feel even worse about myself than I already do so I will not be coming back to the salon.

Bad and highly disappointing experience with $110 facial at the whyte ave location. The esthetician, Britney finished the 90 min facial in less than 45 mins and called it a day.. Rude staff and poor value for the money.. don’t go if you value your time & money!

The staff was very nice. I had a $35 off card that I tried to use, but was told I could not use it because I hadn't referred anyone to the store. The girl who cut my hair wasn't listening to my direction, and half way through the cut a girl came over and told her that the next client was here for her. So she stopped and asked me if I was happy, I told her no I need it shorter (which I had been saying the whole time) she seemed offended and said to me, "don't worry, I take criticism well." which sounded a lot more like, "grrr, I don't take criticism well at all." So she rushed through the rest of the cut. At the end I paid WAY too much, $45 plus $5 tip. And when I got home, I found that she left a very long peace directly on the top of my head, making me look a lot like Alfalfa. I don't think I'll be going back.

I am sure the Stylist's and Aesthetician's are Excellent at what they do, however this Business does NOT like to pay their Invoice's. They had called us to help fix their Internet connection, as they could NOT connect to their Salon Software. I performed 3.5hrs of Troubleshooting, however in the end found out their main System for Western Canada was down. I sent a Invoice (11 JULY 2013) for the diagnostic, and to this day has NOT been PAID! Be cautious when working for this Business...

I don't have anything bad to say about this place. Amazing products, cruelty free, clean facility, friendly faces. Very accommodating. Rufaro is amazing! She didn't pressure me into cutting my hair and acted in my best interest and didn't try to just take my money. She advised me to keep my natural roots and I'm super self conscious about my natural color but she helped me fall in love with it again. I'm so happy and impressed with the service I received. She is a genuine person who stands behind the company and clearly loves what she does. We shared lovely conversation and felt completely happy with everything. Getting the haircut was wonderful, but the haircut itself is terrible. I have what can only be described as a female mullet. I had very long hair and asked for 2 1/2 inches off. They took 4 inches off of most of it, but for some inexplicable reason, decided that I needed 8 inches off in the front. So, half of my hair is chin length and the other half is a rat-tail that goes halfway down my back. It doesn't start at my chin and gently taper down to the length. I have been growing my hair out for 3+ years, and it will probably take another 2 to grow out this monstrosity.

I keep having to repeat myself the way I don't want something cut, and she does it anyway. During last appt. was IMMEDIATELY after I said it, and Chop, chop, chop, the way I don't want it was done AGAIN. And I don't know why, cos it looks better longer than cutting it shorter than I want. I thought it so rude to immediately go against what was asked, and just do what she wanted. An experienced stylist shouldn't be not listening to clients like this. I did try another senior stylist but a poor rushed cut overall, so had to get it cut again in 2wks. Wasn't asked for any product in my hair after it was done, no hairspray, serum etc. I just wanted to go anyway. I like the prices, & other parts of the cut, but it's too much of a struggle between client and stylist. Ask permission and explain yourself before chopping off, especially after I just said not to. ( my appointment times were changed for two appts. When I called to confirm by 15min each, and was waiting 30min. For a late appt. so walked around Whyte & came back, the free service that was offered i never heard about after my appt. & I didn't bother to ask)

Beautiful well lit open salon with comfortable lounge chairs at the sink stations! Neck, shoulder, head massages also part of hair services. They serve alcohol as a treat while you are getting services and the prices are quite fair! They also offer lots of product for hair, make up, etc. Staff are delightful and so accommodating! Super chill vibe, I'm so happy to go.

I was a hair model for a Journeyperson stylists that was receiving extra training. The atmosphere of the salon as you walk in is a very open concept, I was greeted nicely and asked to fill out a form for covid, then asked to wash my hands at the sink which I thought was a good cleanliness standard. As I walked through the back to the side where my stylist was I enjoyed the amount of room in the facility, it wasn't too cramped which made it less likely to be in close contact with another person other than the stylist. I moved from Sask to Edmonton and most hair salons where I am from are crowded, this was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed the experience and the head massage ????‍♀️.

I love visiting Avenue Salons on Whyte Ave to get my cut and color. The front staff are always pleasant and welcoming when arriving for your appointment or when booking over the phone. Bridgette has done my hair since I started going to this salon, she is fantastic at what she does. She is very friendly and I always leave loving my hair after my appointments. Right now with Covid-19 protocols I feel safe still getting my hair done with the things they have put into place. Absolutely would recommend.

BIG ZER0 customer service Terrible service, few girls working there do not what they are doing. I went for my haircut After booking an appointment I had to wait for 35 min,other thing that I strictly said that I just want my hair trimmed but she took off 7 inches of my hair. Chloe did my hair today and it was beautiful! I got pretty much exactly what I wanted. The hand massage was very nice too. However for $200 it should include a trim, and getting your hair curled shouldn't cost $25 for the 10 minutes it took her.

Asked for phone # after 3 seconds came back with nope sorry they had updated the system and all info had been lost. I had such a great experience here! Jenny was my hairstylist, and a great one! She’s gentle, polite and knows how to cut the correct hair style. Scheduling an appointment with her for a wash and cut was also very easy. After showing her a few photos of what I wanted my hair to look like, Jenny did an incredible job explaining step by step what the experience was going to be like and what she was going to do with my hair. I have been going to Avenue Salon for 10 years and been seeing Pamela for over 2 years now. Pamela is absolutely amazing! She recently did my hair extensions and I have gotten so many compliments saying they look so natural and beautiful. She always does such an amazing job with my hair, I cannot recommend her enough. The other staff are also very friendly and I have always gotten amazing service from everyone at the salon! I would absolutely recommend Pamela if you are looking to get your hair cut/coloured (she does an amazing balayage) or looking for really good quality extensions.

Worst experience ever. I got nothing that I asked for because the stylist who was doing my hair apparently wanted to do her own thing. For instance, this is what I got after asking specifically (and multiple times) for the gray on my sides to be covered. She also informed me at the big reveal at the end that what she decided to do would look "more professional" when I specifically wanted something radically different. I sent an email expressing my disappointment I was called several days later and was offered a chance to come in and have their color specialist redo my hair. Not only did I not trust them anymore I did not want to get my hair over-processed. I was told that I would be called back in a few days to further discuss options and they didn't phone back when they said they would so I had to send in another email. When they finally did call, they only offered a gift certificate back to their salon! I didn't find this option reasonable or appropriate but was left in no doubt that they didn't care. Good luck those of you who plan on going to Aveda on Whyte avenue. I hope you do not get bilked out of $200+ dollars for a dye job that looks like you did it at home when you were drunk.

Renee is the best lash technician I have ever had. She is super patient with the lash process and makes you feel super comfortable in the chair. I have sensitive eyes and she helped me work through the taping process - which I never thought was possible. She also does an amazing job with waxing brows. Raefromavenue is her instagram handle and shows her exceptional portfolio. I also got my hair cut by Kelsey for my most recent hair appointment - post covid - and she delivered exactly what I wanted and was super pleasant to chat with.

My recent visit to the Aveda Academy totally met my (relatively high) expectations. The little Aveda extras, like the mint tea and hand massage (thank you, Evet!), made the visit that much more enjoyable. Jolena was my stylist and refreshed my long overdue colour with some much needed partial highlights. Jolena was excellent (in spite of my vague indecisiveness!), and she listened carefully to what I wanted done with my hair and took her time to achieve the desired results. I am very happy I did, I had a phone consultation and they gave me a ballpark, it was in the range I figured and was willing to pay. The prices are comparable with other salons of this level, so either your willing to pay 250-300 for cut, bleach, and tone or your not . As for the service and stylist, exceptional, It was the first bleach that did not burn and make my scalp itch. Pamela was on board with the pics I had showed her and when I asked her opinion on things was honest and willing to give me what I wanted. I highly recommend to go see Pamela. My mother has blonde curly hair and made an appointment to get it styled for a wedding as a treat for her (she never gets it styled). I specifically asked for someone with experience with curly hair. The stylist kept saying her hair “was not working for her” and it took nearly two hours for it to be styled and it looked like a frizzy mess. Straight it the front and fuzzy in the back. Completely COATED in excessive product. She had my 15 year old sister re-do it afterwards and it honestly it looked better. She was very disappointed and felt as though she was blaming her hair. She was very distraught afterwards. It was a stressful, awkward and expensive experience for nothing. I will not return here.

I had given this place so many chances, but every time i did not get a cut with the senior stylist it was as described by others as a female mullet. I was so horrified for months until it grew out. ugh. My experience years ago at Aveda was good but in the last 3 years my hair has been so messed up with over bleaching (by them) and crazy brakeage and bad cuts I am such a mess. They have tried to smooth things over by offering a free consult or whatever but it always ends in me paying $200-$300 for another cut and color to correct what went wrong. Done. so Done here.

No!! I can't come back on tuesday! That's why I called ahead to book an appt! Very disappointed. Make sure to call several times to confirm because obviously the receptionists can't do their job.

If you want great hair, reserve an appt with Tina! This might be the place for me to confess that my hair gets daily compliments, (stop it already, I'm blushing!) and that everyone asks for Tina's name. She's great at everything, and a SUPERB colorist. Tina'll do precisely what you ask, if you use your words. ; ) Better yet, ask her for advice--that's what she's there for, folks! I tend to be impulsive with hair choices, and she's talked me off the edge a few times, knowing I really wouldn't be happy, didn't have the right shape of face, type of hair, etc. Thanks Tina! The entire staff will treat you with dignity and respect from the moment you walk in. Scalp massage with shampoo (ahhhh!), free hand massage with additional services (soooo good!) beverage choice (try the Aveda tea--yum!). The entire staff is well versed in product knowledge. While Tina has a stunningly accurate recall of my allergies, all staff can answer these questions! Also, there's metered parking just outside, or use the 3 floor Impark lot. After your appt don't forget to stock up on yr fave Lush products next door. Better yet, make a day of it with friends and shop on Whyte Ave, get yr shoe fix at at Gravity Pope, (or Fluevog's if you're really lucky!) have a terrific dinner at local eateries, then take in an indie film at the Princess or Garneau. The only downside? It IS expensive, people. Hmm...but worth kissing bad hair days goodbye forever?? I'll leave off the Fluevogs for good hair from Tina anyday. Enjoy, y'all!

I had the best experience at this salon about a week ago! When booking my appointment the individual on the phone was very informative of all covid-19 precautions while still doing a full consultation. The staff were great and accomidaiting as it was pouring rain when I arrived and had garbage bags to keep my jacket in. Senior stylist (Ashley ?!) at the salon was very friendly and professional. Our consultation went well and we agreed on working up to the blonde I eventually want. We went for a full head if highlights and she cut my hair as well. I have been coming at Avenue Salon for a very long time. It started with using their salon side first (Hair color, cut, and styling) and then I have used them for Facial, Brazilian Wax and I have to say Sarah is the best for spa services. if you want best, painless (almost) and quick Brazilian wax in town, you should give a try here. Sarah is very professional, clean, quick, and makes sure that you are comfortable. I am very impressed with her work. Even for facial she suggested that I should get chemical peel which I was bit scared as I never got it done before now I think was the best decision ever. For facial ambiance wasn't very relaxing because you can hear the outside music but she did her best and played very calm and relaxing music. There prices are very good as well for facial and waxing given that it is natural products (Aveda).

I have been to this hair salon for the second time now and both times, Cara was the one who worked on my hair and she is AMAZING! Usually very picky about my hair, I always have a clear idea of what I want and she did exactly what I asked for (if not better)! She also gave me great advice on how to style my hair and hair products I could use. Plus, she is very friendly and kind which made my experience even better. I highly recommend her for your next haircut!
