We put our 8 year old child in Summer Camp. She is a newcomer to Canada and didn't know much English. Upon dropping her off we were a bit nervous but that was unfounded as the staff were extremely kind and she had such an awesome time with all the activities that we booked some more weeks!

The lockers for the gym are not safe and get broken into by homeless people. Also there are homeless people who bring all their smelly clothes into the locker area and do their laundry there. In that time the whole locker area reeks of urine and body odor. It is very disgusting. The staff is also not doing anything to prevent homeless people to get into the locker area. If you can't deal with that try to use a different gym. Also there is no hot water in the showers. Now I know homeless people are people too and they need to take care of their hygiene as well but I suggest that the staff organizes days for homeless people to come in, do their laundry and shower so that the other regular customers who are actually paying to use the facility won't be disturbed.

I have just started going to the gym there, it is basic but functional. It has all the equipment that you need for a good workout, although some of the equipment could be updated. There is no music so it is a good idea to bring a source of music and some headphones. There are lockers but you need to bring you own lock, there are also wallet lockers too, you make up your own code, lock the door and scramble the numbers to secure. Out your number in and unlock to open,easy! I have so far found that most people are accommodating to others by not sitting on the equipment, doing nothing. They actually get on with their workout. Your membership also includes access to pools and community centres in and around the area. I would recommend this community centre.

Fitness centre is dated, but everything you need in the weight room and it's usually not too busy. Two squat racks (one is really old) and some nice equipment for functional training such as kettlebells, a couple Concept II rowers, and plyo boxes. They offer indoor cycling and sandbag training classes. Community centre offers a wide range of programming, an arena, and is attached to a library location.

The parking permit old lady was very negative aggressive and racist. Me and my family went to do the parking permit 3 times and she’s needle picking so hard till we got all the information she wanted. We had to bring 3 people and our ids for a parking permit and when the last time we got every thing she needed so she couldn’t find problems she literally just picked the most random reason to decline us. I see other white people just gets theirs with out any problems and treated nicely. When it comes to us her emotions changes like there is something wrong with her from the first time.if you are Asian Please do not do your parking permits here and do it online.

The academy is very simple but has a plenty of aerobic and weight training equipment. The spinning class is good and the place contains various bikes. Sometimes is a lit bit hot inside but they have a fan to turn the room fresher I do not know about the other activities but I observe a substantial frequency in the other classes. The atmosphere in the weight room is nice but there's no instructor showing if you are doing right or not your workout. They open every day including Sundays, what is very good to practice over the weekend. The price is affordable but a lit bit confuse since you have to decide on Flax Passes or Activities. They should have a combo pass also affordable … Every week they put some notice in order to motivate people to practice exercise … it is very funny the themes that they present. If you are in Downtown Vancouver for sure this is the more complete place to do exercises.

Came to the West End Community Centre for a Xmas craft fair, and had an opportunity to confirm why these buildings are so important for neighborhoods. Community Centres usually include a few sports facilities, in this case a hockey rink that doubles as a basketball court. There's also an auditorium and several multiple use rooms. Together, these facilities offer a wide range of possibilities that are important to bring people together. This is specially important for those that have arrived to this country recently, a great way to integrate them to the community. Yesterday, this multi-cultural environment was quite evident, and it was great to see!

Very popular. Too popular as many classes literally fill up within seconds. Lots of classes to choose from. Pottery studio needs expansion. Has ice-rink/ court which converts from one to another. Joe Forte's library is in the same location.

I love this centre, both as a patron and as an instructor of a few hypnosis classes, its location, convenience, and welcoming attitude. I've been to many community centres in Vancouver and somehow this one feels the warmest to me.

We were here for the art show Art in the City as exhibitors and were thrilled to be a part of this community-focused event. I do wish it had been more publicized though, since it was free admission and the art for sale was very reasonable yet the attendance seemed a bit low. Community Centre Gym is reasonable and tends not to be too crowded. The equipment is dated but adequate for a complete workout. I have never seen a TRX, but they might have them somewhere. They do a spin class on Sunday mornings that is pretty popular.

Lots of activities! Could be cleaner and newer but it's a community center, so know what to expect. It's a great place accessible to everyone, which is what a community center should be about. Everyone is friendly and there is really a lot to do! There is a skating ring, piano rooms, group fitness classes, a public library, you really cannot get bored. Just to be clear, it's not a luxury center that costs hundreds of dollars in membership, so don't expect it to be like that. But it's a great place for hanging out and trying something new, especially if you are on a budget. I would definitely go back. There are also some activities for kids. Ask at the front desk. There are booklets for tourists and locals. Lots of information about what's going on. Just ask, someone will help you find what you are looking for.

One of the crown jewel in the community-centre set up of Vancouver. The programs offered at this Centre are often not available at the other ones. It should be noted that this centre's health talks have gone down in numbers in recent years. You may want to join this kind of talks in Burnaby and Surrey. Ice skating rink is great for the winter time. There is a seasonal one at Robson Square if you have trouble with the West End one. Overall, this is the most progressive centre and is a sister organization of the Coal Harbour Community Centre.

Public Library, skating rink, drop in classes and services. We have registered for Tots soccer over the summer and have been very happy! I've shown artwork during the Art in the City Event. There is a preschool here, pottery classes and sales, family day events. An older community centre with several amenities servicing the West End! I have always been treated with respect by the helpful staff.

West End Community Centre is a very good facility. It has a public library inside of it, a gym/ice rink, a summer and winter camp for children, and a volunteering oppurtunity also for the camps. There are rooms in the building that you can rent I believe, and a vewing area of the gym where you can do your work in peace up there.

From my Brazilian point of view it is awesome: a public and well manteined building with good and confortable library; several classes of sports and arts; gymnasium for sports (during my visit it was serving as an ice skating place); services for the community (like parking permits). A wonderful meeting point for the people in this neighbourhood.

We are surprised by the fact that this big community center doesn't have a spot for basketball, we asked in the front desk they said they don't have any space for that game , you only have to wait till summer and they might have a small space in the skating area to be able to play slightly basketball!!!!!! We have lived in Quebec for many years before and they have spot for basketball even outside the community center , almost everywhere
