A clients success becomes his personal en devour. He will put his heart, mind and soul in his work. No shortcuts, just hard work and there is no shortage of laughter with this man. At Performance 5 Fitness, it is about getting healthy and changing your mindset. I came to Jeff Iwanaka because I was inspired from seeing my friend go from C-section recovery with baby weight to fit, healthy mom. I loved the confidence that radiated with her. Confidence was something that I always had trouble with. I had a rough past and tried various activities but was never able to sustain anything long enough, often self sabbotaging my own progress and personal growth. Jeff's thoughtful and patient coaching has allowed me to not only work on developing a growth mindset, but was able to help me tackle on challenges I never thought I was able to do. Sometimes I look back at challenges like Seek the Peak (13km race uphill from ocean to mountain top) and am in awe of my own accomplishments but it was only with his careful guidance that I was able to overcome my own injuries and setbacks to feeling strong and proud. He provides guidance on nutrition as well as working on proper form in weight training. A lot of my injuries have disappeared after working with Jeff. I was always told that my weight mattered and I had to be skinny to be attractive. With Performance 5 Fitness, I now believe that I am strong, both mentally and physically. I spent the last 7-8 years of my life working like a dog. Being an immigrant, providing for family, trying to get a settled life and giving back to the family has literally been all what I have done, besides opening two businesses. Last 3 years did a number on me like no other though. Going through the most difficult and the worst time in my life, when nothing is going right and everything is falling apart, I knew I needed professional help. You might think I'm extrovert but I'm quite introvert and I don't deeply connect with people easily. More so I never liked the Gym environment because I never met the right people. I always struggled with my body image because I was always bullied for it (even when I was really fit) and so I don't like anyone pushing me around because I am quite hard on myself already, more than I need to mostly. I needed somebody who gave me gentle guidance and yet at the same time gives me positive encouragement to keep going. Working with Jeff in just 2-3 days I could feel the change in me that I so desparately needed. Within the first week itself, I lost close to 6lbs, gained 1% muscle and lost 2% body fat. On top of it all, I was still eating everything I wanted to! I did Yoga and swimming all my life but in the last 3-4 years, life just became too much to handle. To the point that I could feel, beside the enormous weight gain and not recognizing myself in the mirror - hating the image I saw looking back at me and crying my eyes out, I could now feel my mental health deteriorating. Jeff has been so amazing beyond words and just within my first week with him, I have had a much bigger goal now that I came for initially. I wanted Jeff to make me stronger physically since the job and weight gain had completely wore my body off. I have a lot of back issues and Jeff has been unbelievable in keeping that in mind and yet making me work for it. I sleep better and I feel more powerful each day. I can't wait to reach my goal. For the first time in my life, I will be EXACTLY who I always wanted to be and I wouldn't have to keep covering my body in baggy clothes and feeling ashamed of it. I am on a better path because of Jeff and in a few months I will post a transformation photo of me to prove it. Here's a little tribute, one of many to come, for this amazing gentleman!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff for a body comp analysis and an initial training session. The wealth of information I gained from Jeff today will definitely help me in my journey to better health. By taking the time to talk me through my challenges in losing weight, he was able to identify what's getting in the way of my success and gave me pointers on what I can do right now to overcome them. On top of that, our initial workout was challenging enough to make me believe in myself again. For that, I can't thank him enough.

Jeff is an excellent trainer! He goes above and beyond, messaging us with nutrition tips and keeping us accountable with our workout goals (or trying to at least!) He is very attentive and customizes workouts to our specific goals and abilities: For example, I want to avoid injury snowboarding and running, while my husband wants to build muscle, and he gives us different workouts no problem even though we see him at the same time. And, if I have back or knee pain, he gives workouts that won't aggravate those areas. We have seen him for about a year and are healthier, happier, and less stressed. Jeff is very reasonably priced, flexible, encouraging, and pleasant to talk to. Highly recommend!

I’ve never had a personal trainer, so came to our first meeting with lots of questions. Right off the bat, Jeff handled my dozens of questions about functional training like a pro - he knows his stuff. I started out concerned about a back injury and wanted to do it right. Jeff started me off with some very specific movements to get a sense of how bad the injury was, and quickly identified a training regimen to not only get me setting out on a path to reach my goals, but also start strengthening the areas that were keeping me injured. He keeps things simple but understands the complexities and nuances and does a great job of explaining them so you can understand them. Within just a few months, my injury no longer bothered me and my body transformation had already begun. I’ve never felt more fit, strong and athletic - even though I was never a serious athlete. I look forward to every session and consistently push out PB’s under Jeffs training. My girlfriend ended up joining me and now we work out together every week on a fun, fast paced protocol that helps us both meet our own individual goals. He’s somehow able to train us both at the same time even though our goals are very different. It’s a lot of fun. Couldn’t find anyone nicer and yet who will not hesitate to cheerfully kick your butt each session! Recommend 100%.

Jeff is a wonderful personal trainer. He really tries to work with you and get as much of our your fitness goals as possible. He is very patient and takes the time to analyse and dissect your personal habits in order to come up with a realistic exercise plan. There are a lot of trainers that can help you achieve goals in the short term however Jeff not only will help you do that but will incorporate lifestyle changes so that the results are maintained. I am a massage therapist on the Northshore and I have worked closely with a number of his patients and have seen first hand how has worked with them to initiate change in their lives and support them thoroughly through the process. Jeff brings so much support and extra encouragement with his personal training. When I was badly injured in a car accident I didn't know what to do physically or mentally and once I started training with Jeff I began to heal faster then I thought possible and became even stronger then I have ever been. I’ve been training with Jeff since September of 2016. I first came in with a multitude of injuries, with no confidence in my body or my strength. I had been seeing trainers, chiropractors, and physiotherapists for years with no success. I was starting to give up on my body and it’s capabilities. When Jeff and I first started training, I’d lift 5 lbs. dumbbells and my neck would start hurting. It took months of patience to get to where I am today. He’s completely transformed my body from being injury-prone and underweight to being injury-free and at a healthy weight. My relationship with my body has completely transformed! After every session Jeff checks in on me with a text message or a phone call to see how my body is feeling. I can tell he truly cares about my health and well-being. He takes the time to listen to your needs and cater the sessions to what you are looking for.
