I called to cancel my membership due to Covid-19 and inquire about an annual maintenance fee that I was charged of $56. I was speaking with the CLUB MANAGER and was received very poor and unfriendly customer service (she actually hung up on me). She was very rude and unprofessional when I inquired about the $56 that I was charged without being informed on a day that I didn't authorize a payment for (I have my bills all come out on the same day for budgeting reasons) This fee came out several days before that. She basically said sorry there's nothing I can do in a very condescending and rude tone and informed me that I still have access for another 30 days. When I stated that I would not be returning she simply hung up on me. Extremely poor customer service for someone who is to be representing the franchise.

During pandemic when the gym were closed I was charged full year fee on my credit card and I had been sending so many emails. They just say there's payment system upgrade and refund will be processed in 5-7 business days. It's been 4 months since I am trying to get the refund but no luck yet. I don't recommend this place.

Do not get a membership at this place. The staff here is extremely unprofessional, unaccountable and belligerent. If you ever want to cancel your membership here be ready for an altercation. The staff turnover rate at this facility is high and with good reason. I would know, my trainer quit his job before my scheduled session which was never followed up by the way. Who would want to work or exercise at a gym when the owners are unnecessarily acrimonious and condescending. I had a verbal agreement with the staff that signed me up that I could end my membership in April but then the pandemic happened. I started receiving charges to my account and since I was not living in Waterloo anymore, I wanted to cancel the membership. I have been trying to contact someone for the past two weeks via email and phone. It took two weeks of unanswered phone calls to get another person on the line and was immediately yelled at for spelling my name to her. Her excuse was that she recently was dealing with angry customers, go figure. The malice didn't stop there, she then proceeded to lie to me that my membership was cancelled even though in the contract, cancellations can only be done in a written format. I obviously can't physically present since I live two hours away. Never get a membership at Crunch Fitness.

This gym is a joke! Would not recommend. The employees have zero customer service skills and are not helpful at all. They have been charging my card even when they are closed and the maintenance fees are ridiculous. I’ve tried calling on multiple occasions to get ahold of the manager as to why I’m having to pay on the months that they have been shut down with no response from anyone. I’d give them a -5 star rating if I could.

I am very upset with Crunch. I was a member of Crunch Waterloo but I canceled my membership last year amidst the Pandemic. Me and my partner were just charged in our credit cards for a membership we cancelled and haven’t used for more than 1 year. Now I can’t get a hold of anyone at Crunch. Poor management and communication. They stole money from me during a pandemic. 3 staff members said I'd be getting a refund. Manager Chelsea refuses to honor it and cooperate through email I put my account on hold and got 3 different dates for when it starts. I gave them a blank cheque so I don't get charged a fee. Yes. If you pay via cc they charge the customer the processing fee instead of eating it like any normal reputable company. 5 months later they STILL hadn't submitted it to head office so I don't have a processing fee Like, why can't they do their jobs properly and STOP STEALING FROM MEMBERS. Terrrrrrible service. Go to fit for less, same cost and reputable company. Reported them to BBB because this isn't how you treat people.

Tried to terminate my membership. I emailed and called, took three months but they finally cancelled it for me. I was supposed to be reimbursed for the three months seeing as I had proof of trying to terminate my membership and I still haven’t seen a dime. They owe me about $100 (three months plus additional charges). Don’t let the cheap prices fool you. It’s cheap up until you don’t want to be there anymore.

Everything is perfect here but, I think people who use public transit may have to walk a lot. I agree that It shouldn’t be a issue as it’s fitness club only but I personally felt it difficult to find the access door when it was my first time visiting here.

This place has a good selection of cardio machines, cable weight setups, weight machines, dumbbells and plates. Everything you could possibly need if you are interested in weight lifting. It is busy after work hours, as expected. I usually go in the mornings before work (7am) and it is only a small crowd of dedicated friendly people. If you are thinking joining the gym and are serious about your exercise program, I recommend mornings. In terms of monthly cost, this place is cheap. I figure I spend more on gas getting to the gym every month than I do on the gym itself.

Not impressed with certain staff, upon attempting to sign up the first time My friend and I went in and we're ignored for 20 or so minutes while wrangler a 2 year old and 5 year old. Finally signed up only took an hour. To add to it some of the staff are rude and ignore you. I went in Tuesday for a consultation pumped to find out what I need to do to work on myself and the woman not only made me feel lousy and discouraged but tried to wrangle me into paying 220 a month for a year for 2 30 min personal training sessions a week. After telling her that wasn't an option financially she's like well you need to lose the weight. So I politely told her I needed to figure out some of the equipment first. All she did was book me someone to show me how but neglected to give me the 3 free personal training sessions I get upon signing up as a unlimited member. Not impressed. Childcare is Great though, some of the staff are really sweet. Needless to say Thursday I'll be going in and complaining, price may be Great service isn't

I would give this minus 10 stars if I could. I maxed out my credit card because of tuition costs and when I went to cancel after my 1 year period was up they said I needed to cancel 60 days in advanced so I did that. They also keep charging me NSF fees even though I've tried telling them I don't have any room on my credit cards and they are suspended and I'm on a hard ship program . Then they called me the next day to tell me I couldn't cancel my membership until I payed off the 350 I owe. So I'm stuck getting charged payment after payment and NSF fees. My credit card company has been much easier to deal with and I owe them thousands. It's pretty sad when you're worse than a credit card company. Especially taking advantage of a student who's low income and struggling to get by

I’m sorry but I’ve been a member since it was Popeyes on Weber. The management at Crunch has been horrendous to deal with. I canceled my membership in September and I have a copy of the signed agreement. They are still taking payments. I have called in and spoken to I don’t know how many people. I was told so many lies and excuses. The best one was from a manager who insisted that this is happening to my account because I signed up online! Are you kidding me? I’ve never signed up online my membership just morphed into crunch over the years since it’s changed a few times from Popeyes. I’m still fighting for my money back. Do yourself a favour and stay away. Update! I’m still waiting for this to be resolved and Chelsea is the worst manager in the history of Crunch! She should be fired!!!!!! Update! It’s May! Chelsea promised me before the lockdown she would contact me with the credit for the money they owe me and I was never contacted and STILL out the money! I’m a single mom with two kids with special needs this is absolutely disgusting! I’m going to contact CKCO and let them know how Crunch steals from past members even through a pandemic!!!!

Love this place (definitely better than the Kitchener location) just wish the Waterloo region would get out of the red zone so I can come back again! Wide variety of machines, dumbbells, cardio equipment, punching bags and all sorts of stuff. Kept in good repair, clean etc. Friendly staff and I haven't had any issues with any of the teenager and early twentysomethings gymgoers either. I like the way they have handled the covid-19 situation as well, I have always felt safe. As someone with a low white blood cell count this is pretty important to me. Great place! My only complaint is that like every other gym they simply do not have enough flat benches for the barbell flat bench press even on non busy days but I can almost always just go do some flat DUMBell bench press in a different section instead so not a big deal.

This company is bogus. They stopped taking out my payments for 2 months and then charged me 2 lump sum amounts of $200. I went in to cancel mine and my boyfriend’s accounts because they do not own up to their own mistakes and blame everything on the Customer. After they accused me of not having an up to date credit card number (which doesn’t make sense because how would you be able to continue make deductions if it changed, keeping in mind I’ve never changed my credit card) I left crying and frustrated because they essentially blamed me and weren’t going to do anything for me. However at least it was resolved they assured me both our accounts were closed I received 1 pink slip with both our names on it and it was done. 2/3 months after the deductions had stopped they started up again because they "got a new system". As I am not expecting these deductions to be made I have had NSF charges. Again, I am forced to go in and deal with incompetent children working at the desks. They advised me that if there were 2 accounts I should have received 2 pink slips; again somehow their incompetence is my fault. They then proceeded to tell me that when they got a new system as there was a supposed balance remaining on my boyfriend’s account (which comes off my credit card), his account was never closed, and as such the deductions were to continue. I wanted this resolved but instead I was met with incompetence. I want to have this resolved, at this point I want nothing more to do with this company as the way they treat their customers is appalling. In my line of business we admit to our mistakes and when one of our representatives does not follow proper procedure, that individual is coached and we do our best to correct the error for the member. The representative is now having me contact my bank to get a list of times the deductions rejected so that I may "possibly be reimbursed for the NSF fees if they were charged in error”. The thing is, these NSF charges are not the issue, obviously there are going to be deductions that rejected because I am not expecting these deductions to come out since my account was closed in February. The issue is that one of your representatives did not follow proper procedure and should not have indicated that the issue was resolved in the beginning. When I closed this account initially she did not indicate there was a residual balance left on our account as there were large deductions made this should have resolved the issue. I never write reviews but I cannot find anywhere to reach out to your company directly or speak to a Customer Care representative and I am only able to contact the locations directly which will not resolve this issue as the representatives who work for you are incompetent. After being told to go to my bank and get this information I see that this is not going to be resolved I will have to continue to pay for a service that I am not using as I am not paying a balance of almost $400 for something that should have been resolved months ago.

I have been coming to this Crunch Fitness gym for the past 4 years since 2016 and the service I have been receiving has been excellent and amazing and I enjoy talking to the employees at the gym while being with people I know who come here regularly it’s been a great experience coming to this place and I wouldn’t want to go to a different gym.

Great gym. Clean and the people there are respectful - unlike many other gyms that I have been to. It has two squat racks, one power rack, two deadlift platforms (you could also deadlift in the circuit training/stretching area), along with many machines, cardio equipment, and free weights.

Lacks a dedicated stretching area, staff is not quite as friendly as other locations. But it is a solid gym to go to if you avoid the busy times (post-5pm on weekdays, post-noon on weekends).

Crunch waterloo is really a very well equipped gym. They are taking the matter of physical distancing very seriously. The gym also offers the cheapest rate in probably the whole ON. During Covid times one might face some issues with reserving the workout schedule as you are supposed to book ahead of time. But if you are flexible with your schedule and can remember to check hourly, you might find one for the next day. Note that, the workout session has been limited to 55 mins now. Also, taking showers at the gym is not allowed these day.

Meh....a lot of bad reviews, but quite frankly its typical of most gyms. The Good - Decent equipment and plenty of it. Plenty of aerobic style classes if you're into that sort of thing. A women's only section, a Cross-fit section, decent workout atmosphere, friendly staff. The Bad - Overcrowded at times, Cross-fit clowns hogging 3-pieces of equipment at once, no shortage of meat heads or gum snappers. My only real complaints are that NOBODY puts their friggin weights away, nor is the rule enforced. Of all the gyms I've ever been at, this was is the worst in that respect. The staff borders on lazy at times. More interested in texting on their phone, than filling the near half dozen paper towel dispensers that are always allowed to run empty. But hey, for $10/month, you get what you pay for.

World gym used to be 24 7 except one day a week closed for like 4 or 6 hours at night for cleaning and up keep the owner of kw gyms changed that and now even with lots of people still using it.... get out Friday sat and sun.... and the one I have been ting to call for over an hour ringin ringing no one picks up or picks up and hangs up.. time to go to another gym that respects the customer...

I’ve been coming to Crunch gym at Waterloo since September 2018 and joined the Transformation Challenge. My trainer Adrian set realistic goals for me and he pushes me each time we have a training session together. He motivated me to transform my personal workout to come to the gym Monday-Friday. Adrian has taught me a lot of which machines or workouts will benefit my goals that I want to achieve. Working out with Adrian my motivation, determination has vastly increased. Now I’m more motivated and determined to come out to Crunch and workout. My experience has been great! I feel stronger physically and mentally, my body is in better shape, and I made a few friends along the way.

Waited for 18 minutes for someone to pick up the phone. Still no answer. Will try again. World gym used to be 24 hours and now it has changed. The price is good but if contracts keep changing and if it is a mission to get someone to pick up the phone, I might as well pay the same amount of membership price in a different gym with more locations..thankfully from a company perk. My husband and i tried on august 14, 2016 from 0800 to 0818. If i have to compare locations I think the best service I've ever have and with trainers who are fit and also competes in WBFF or OPA is the one in Scarborough location. You guys need to visit that location and see how they do things especially when it comes to service.

So, my membership was frozen. As soon as I figured out that Crunch is back open I decided to call and cancel my frozen membership. 3 days trying to reach someone on call. And customer service just told me that they will just run one more charge for March. WTH? Unfortunately Crunch management doesn't understand what means maintaining good customer relationships. After this terrible experience with you I'll never recommend this place to anyone.

I would give -5 stars to this gym, very rude management. They have a bogus process for cheating people to pay heavy penalties when their visa's have expired inadvertently. They keep charging you with nsf fees month after month without letting you know. When trying to resolve the issue with them, they are the rudest people out there. They take advantage of people to compensate for a so called cheap membership. This is completely misleading. I wouldn't recommend this club to anyone. Moreover, it is always full and unpleasant. I usually do not write reviews but my experience has been extremely frustrating and there so called customer representative is rude, incompetent, and malicious. DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!

The gym is great for the price and is fairly clean. The staff there that I have interacted with so far are all nice (haven't been there long so I can't say everyone of them as I haven't extracted with all of them yet). Their personal trainer program though is a JOKE and is very disorganized. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! First of all, you almost never hear or see the person who initially signed you up (in my case) although at first he was using "I" and in my mind he was the one who will be training me based on how he was talking and making big promises????. They are also unstable and will be passing you back and forth like a tennis ball. Three of them couldn't accommodate early morning hours although I had made it loud and clear that that's what I was looking for before I even signed up. And then the one I had gotten who could accommodate my early hours and I was glad that finally everything is set and we can get going, on our 3rd session he basically said his rates are raising by $20 per hour or he will have to pass me to someone else. Well, I already think $50 an hour is more than enough so no I will not add $20 to it. As I write this review, I am waiting on them to bounce me to another one sadly. Also, I personally think a personal trainer should be more than just that one hour in the gym. A good personal trainer sets weekly goals with the client and checks in to see if the client fell through for that week and sets new goals for the new week. Where is holding the person accountable if you are only going to do the 1 hour a week in the gym and thats it? YouTube can easily do that! People sign up because they need someone to hold them accountable, not just the 1 hour or however many hours they have signed up!!!!!

The gym is cheap, and for the most part clean (apart from what felt like a high number of people who didn't clean off their machines when done.) As everyone else has said it's always busy...never really felt like you could get into a rhythm there. Biggest gripe is when I had a fraud alert on my credit card they did not call for updated information. They simply send an email that goes into spam since it is from some generic weird email address. They seemed more interested in collecting NSF fees (higher than your monthly membership) than doing what's right by the customer and calling. When I called to update my credit card information I was not informed of the balance owing and they put through a large charge. When I raised this concern to their corporate team I was told that the balance owing was included in the emails (which were sent to spam) so I was made aware of it. This is simply not true, when I provided evidence of this all communications with me ceased. They just don't seem overly interested in providing a good customer experience.

Good gym but had issues in ending my membership. I gave 3 months notice, followed up again with 1 month notice. On the day I went in to cancel officially (as I was told it had to be in person by front desk months earlier) they told me to call a 1-800 number. After being hung up on twice while on hold I decided to email. They said I never gave them 1 month notice and would continue to charge me the following months. They said they would escalate my complaint but having followed up with their email, I have received no communication as to the status of this. Disappointed that my final impressions of this gym are negative over two months worth of membership fees and being told the wrong thing.

This fitness club had stollen money from my account and they didn't return it until I reported fraud to my bank and told them that I did so. I called them two times before that and they told me that they charged 100 of their customers some extra money "by mistake" and that they will return it on Friday of the week I was calling them. After waiting for two weeks and calling them one more time, I didn't get my money back. So I reported fraud to my bank and went to Crunch to close my account. Only after I told them that I reported this transaction as fraud, they returned my money. Do not recommend giving your credit card information to this company.

Great gym; I just want a place where I can go in and do my weights and cardio. Paid $134.41 (tax in), for a full year upfront to avoid any annual fees or any other fees and it's well worth it. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there's no access to change rooms or shower facilities; I hope this changes when winter comes. No lineups to wait in to get inside in the early mornings. Staff are very friendly; thank you Chelsea (manager). I know it's not always easy dealing with people but I thought you were great. Everyone who works out is respectful of social distancing and very friendly. I love a gym atmosphere where everyone helps everyone. Lots of workout machines, cardio equipment and so so for dumbbells. Ample free parking. Free Wi-Fi. I'm happy I joined and intended on renewing my membership next year.

NO OOPS ALARM!/LUNK ALARM to dissuade you from serious lifts that might actually get you to your goals. Awesome mix of beginners and those serious about fitness. You will be paying for your membership long after you’ve cancelled The gym itself is a great facility and I would have loved to continue here if I hadn’t had to move to a small town away from any of the gyms. My issue is the cancellation process! I moved in January so I went through the process of going to the gym, speaking to a lady around my age who said my membership was canceled but I would have one more month come out because of when I cancelled my membership. I was 100% okay with that and in February it came out no issue and was never charged again. UNTIL JULY They charged me in July for whatever reason and when I tried to contact the facility to ask if maybe there was some mistake because of Covid-19 situation; No one answered the phone or called me back, my email was left unanswered for 9 business days until I sent a SECOND ONE for which they responded that my account was never cancelled and I would be charged again. I question why and was left with no answers whatsoever and still charged. TODAY two months later I get an email from Brantford location confirming my membership was canceled. This business is disgusting.

Cancellation process is unreliable, unprofessional and infuriating. I read reviews about this a while back and didn't think it would happen to me. if you look at the recent reviews, you will see that other people are experiencing this same problem. I canceled my membership in person at the Waterloo facility in late July because of COVID. Yet my credit card continued to get charged. I had to call my credit card company to force a reversal. After two months, I finally received confirmation via email from Crunch that my account was cancelled and I would no longer be billed - 2 months later! I suspect that they are doing this (not processing cancellation requests) to recoup lost revenue from the closure during the lock down. Strangely enough, today I received a call from one of their call centers. The lady on the line told me that I had a balance outstanding, because they were unable to charge my card (thanks CIBC!) for Septembers fees. I told her she had to be kidding! Unreal. It's just one huge mess of a company and not worth your time. There are other gyms out there that won't give you the run around.

Worst customer service ever. They do not even provide customer service. After the lockdown they mass charged everyone. This is not fair because they cannot force everyone to pay for their services during a pandemic if its a health risk to everyone first of all. Their contract even states we are prohibited to go if we are sick. People are asymptomatic with covid and still able to spread it so no thank you. After pausing payments I was charged again the following month and was told they need 31 days notice before the next payment or else it goes through anyways (31 days??? Why so long?). I asked them to the day it appeared in my bank! I asked to be refunded and after several emails also wanted to cancel my membership and I got a call said it was escalated and it takes about 6 weeks to process getting a refund. Nothing was mentioned for the membership. I did not get my money back. I sent emails to follow up. No answer. Calls never went through. I messaged on instagram to follow up (this is where they have been answering me to begin with). They literally just told me this to shut me up. What a fraud. Recently they posted on instagram for plans to reopen after this second lock down and I commented to please not charge everyone like they did after the last lockdown as not everyone is comfortable going back to the gyms and they don't make it easy to reach out to them (literally haven't reached anyone since August 2020 - 6 months ago) they keep seeing and ignoring my messages and they deleted my comment on their post and restricted me on their Instagram so no one can see any of my comments. I am literally getting ignored and no one is answering me. All I want is to end my membership. So tired of this mess. They are stealing money from people. They can't force people to pay to risk their health in a pandemic. Chelsea the manager has been extremely rude with how unprofessional she has been and has lied to me about getting refunded to shut me up. Don't understand how someone can be SO unprofessional and leave their customer ignored in the dark. I signed a contract, if they are taking my money i have a right to speak to someone about it! Disgusted by how this gym has been treating people. Do not sign up with this gym! Scaming is how this gym makes money. I didn't read the reviews when signing up for this gym. Who would for $10 per month!? And then didn't to go and cancel my membership. It is just $10. Right? After a longtime, not going there and forgetting about it. My credit card expired and forgot to inform them. Then they started charging nsf and send the debt to collection agency($670) I talked to the manager (his name Andrew) and he said, a good percentage of the people have similar experience and this is a major income for the company and that's how they offet $10 per months membership. They don't contact customer to fix the problem, they just wait enough to have enough of nsf and send it to collection agency. So, this is a gym that makese money by scamming. Canceled my membership over the phone during the pandemic, but apparently it was just put on freeze. I remember specifically saying cancel, and they claimed on the phone that I signed it. I found the document they sent me and it says ‘phone’ under the member signature section. They blamed me for not checking my email, but charging me after a year of not going to this gym just seems ridiculous. My girlfriend also had a similar experience when she signed up for a trial. They signed her up for a regular account and withdrew money for her account even though she was supposed to be on a trial. Reading the reviews. It looks like other people have had similar issues.

This location is great. Lots of space, lots of equipment and friendly staff who'll do their best to help and serve you. I came from Goodlife, and was paying $60 a month, now I pay $20 and I get everything that I had at Goodlife plus some. Also, the way the booking system works is much better and accessible then Goodlife, I could never book a spot at anytime with Goodlife, but with Crunch I've gotten a booking everytime. Of course it's still competitive to get a time slot but it's much easier than Goodlife. The only reason I didn't put this at 5 stars is because some equipment you may find at Goodlife or Movati are not here, the equipment is older but still well maintained. Lastly, the app does not work very well, at the time of writing, in regards to booking through it, but they are trying to resolve that. For the price you pay, I can't complain, these are just minor nit picks. If you're looking for a new gym I highly recommend Crunch Fitness!

BUT the front staff is HORRIBLE!!! the girls were gossiping about members...she had purple hair. I saw them on their phones while someone needed to be helped. I've been a member of this gym for approximately 3 years. I had recently come back to resume membership after being vaccinated and waiting for the COVID cases to simmer down. However I received an unpleasant surprise of 2x $25 NSF charges, even though my credit card information had not changed at any point while being a member of this gym after my membership resumed from being frozen due to Covid-19. Staff were friendly and helpful as always, however management have been unresponsive and do not care about billing issues and mistakes. Profits are the priority as this gym is a franchise. Do NOT give them your banking info or credit card info. Go somewhere else and support a smaller privately owned gym that cares about your health and wallet. The ventilation looked the exact same as when I was working out here before COVID in 2019. Mask enforcement was not a priority while I was there at all. I was a member of this gym before it became Crunch Fitness for several years and its predecessor, "World Gym", has carried over the same horrible business practices. They will nickel and dime you to death if you don't pay attention to the billing. Avoid at all costs. Go literally anywhere else to avoid a migraine with this company.

After putting my account on hold because of the pandemic, I tried to contact Crunch before it was to renew to cancel my membership. Because of the pandemic, they aren't taking any calls and there's no way to reach them so I sent them an email with my request for cancellation. No call/message back and now they've charged me $73 for a membership I haven't used in a year and don't want (not to mention it's supposed to be $10 a month). The place is literally closed and no one is working there, yet all payments are still being withdrawn? This isn't my first monetary issue with them either. Last summer they "accidentally" charged everyone an extra ~$25 and said we'd receive a refund and I never did. So poorly managed and very little attention to customer service. Don't give them your banking information.

I'm a member since 2016 and I do appreciate the fact that the gym is open almost 24/7. I would like if it was a 24 hour opening during weekends too, but at least it's a 24 hours during weekdays. This is really convenient when you work on 12 hours shifts. The employees are very friendly and helpful when you need them. The place is clean and well kept. You can easily find the equipment, dead weights, etc. that you need since the choice is there.

I like the gym itself, but while visiting last night, I was absolutely appalled by the actions of a staff member. While I was doing my squats over near the barbells beside the CrossFit gym, there was a young female Crunch Fitness trainer in uniform training with a young female. She joked with the client about “lazy people at the gym” who “just sit on the machines” and then went on to say “I’ll show you pics.” She then proceeeded to show some cell phone pics to her client, presumably of Crunch Fitness clientele, laughing about them. This makes me sick. The gym is supposed to be an open and inclusive atmosphere and this young lady demonstrated to me that it is anything but. Frankly I am disgusted by her behaviour and considering cancelling me membership as a result. Pics should NEVER be taken of people at the gym. How is anyone supposed to feel comfortable when your very own staff are mocking clients and taking pics of them?

Parking lot is big, but filled with horrible parking jobs, people speeding, and usually still packed around busy hours (4-8pm). Offers small classes, has a tiny women's section, tons of cardio equipment, and a wide selection of machines. Only one rack of free weights is a nuisance during busy hours, and the lack of quality squat racks is unfortunate.

Writing on behalf of family member. Signed up with a trainer at this gym and then they closed down. They didn't re open for a long time, the 6 month term of the contract was up and so they went somewhere else for training. This Crunch gym tried to get him to schedule in sessions after the re opened and refused to respect the fact that the duration of the contract was up. Now they just charged him for like 5 sessions even though they never offered the service and the contract time is already up. Having to issue chargeback through credit card company and block their account - I advise anyone else in this situation to do the same.

The gym itself isn't too bad. I go at 3am and the gym is usually empty which is really nice. Equipment is in good shape and facility is usually clean. Have had a few times where the gym was a mess and reeked of sweat but it's better than the kitchener location 10 fold. The night staff are really good and personable. My issue is if there is a mix up in payment they bite you hard with a MASSIVE NSF fee. Compared to the cost of membership it's pretty rough. Also the condition of the showers. The water heater must be busted or something because either you get scalding hot water or freezing cold water and the floors are usually slippery and grimey. Also the fact that when someone flushes you lose all heat in the showers. How old is the plumbing???? The women's area needs to go too. Would be much more constructive if the gym followed their "equality first" push and take that stupid partition out. Would be nice to have the extra equipment and space at peak hours. Thinking of switching to fit4less down the road. Atleast they are actually 24 hours...

It's a gym. I cannot speak to some people's poor experiences, only to my own. The staff has all been friendly and professional. Then again, I have a tattoo on my forehead that says "be nice to me" (kidding!) Could be more dumbbells - during peak periods the racks are often at least half empty in the 10 to 50 pound range. I try not to go then ... Rows and rows of machines - mostly unused when I go. Shower area is not very welcoming and almost "too" private. But, the sauna is hot and, hey, I hurt when I leave, so their gravity function seems to be operating at at least the regular rate. Unfortunately. Peace!

I unfortunately had a terrible experience with this gym. I don’t normally write reviews but I thought it was necessary to share my experience, just in case someone else wants to cancel their membership. In March of 2020, I went in a talked to a man (red curly hair) can’t remember his name. And asked to cancel my membership, he wrote something down on a piece of paper and did stuff in his computer. Once he was finished he explained to me that it was done and that unfortunately due to timing I would still need to pay for my membership fees the next month (45$). Which I was completely ok with and understood. Then covid happened, and gyms were closed. Once the gyms re opened I was charged in August gym fees. I then called the gym and they said they have. I record of this transaction and that it was my fault for not getting a confirmation. First off I don’t know their policy, and when an employee tells me they cancelled my membership, I believe them. I asked for them to try and refund me the money and to end me an email stating that everything was cancelled. I talked to the manager and who said everything was done and to trust her because she’s the manager. I never received and email from her. Then now, in September I got charge again (45) dollars for my membership. Now, you can understand I amVERY frustrated. I asked them which email they sent this cancellation too and they couldn’t answer me. And told me again it was my fault. And then proceeded to ask me for my email, which told me they didn’t actually send me an email. So I was reasonable and asked for them to try and refund me the money, but understood if they couldn’t Regardless of policy or procedures. You say something is done, it should be done. And then when its not, and the manager is arrogant enough to say, ill fix this because I'm the manager, trust me, and it still doesn't get done. I really feel something should be done about this. I’ve never in my life had an experience like this. I need to know who to call higher up to get this resolved. So disappointing.

The busiest gym I have ever been to. Even at 11:30pm you will be waiting for equipment. Far too many childish teenagers throwing weights and abusing equipment. Crossfit takes up most of the gym while usually empty. The rest of the gym is squeezed together like a sardine can. Over weight trainers is an embarrassment.

Very helpful staff, good, clean, working equipment. Ownership changed from World Gym, but the onlt things to change are the labels, colour scheme, and a few additional equipment pieces. Clean change rooms, lockers are a bit cramped, small size sauna, showers are decent (soap needs to be filled more often tho) This particular location does seem to attract the younger adults, with the majority being in great shape. I have yet to receive any negative attitude, as everyone seems nice (I identify as male, so I cannot speak for the female perspective). This location has; tanning, hydro massage, daycare, sauna, full basketball court, ladies only area, stationary bike room, classes, personal trainers, CrossFit room, 2 sets of free weights, multiple machines, multiple squat racks, multiple bench press and benches, treadmills, ellipticals, 3 stair masters, and both seated and upright stationary bicycles.

This gym used to be a great place to play basketball but they decided to remove the basketball nets as an upgrade to the fitness programs. I saw the new schedule and there were no new programs for the entire summer. Effectively, the gym will be empty. It's unfortunate because there was a thriving community of players at this gym. Additionally, It's frustrating to see Crunch Fitness associate themselves with the Toronto Raptors by supporting them in the playoffs for marketing -- it's disingenuous. The facility overall is satisfactory and could use much improvement. Considering the annual price (with fees), it's better value compared to the other gyms. However I can't get over these recent decisions and I don't trust the management.

I felt so unwelcome , as I waiting after scanning id for the staff to stop talking to each other about don't know? for 3 mins I waited patently didn't mind that much! then the younger woman turns to me puts her hand on her hip in an upset tone CAN I HELP YOU ? as if I was bothering her? I was so appalled I didn't know how to react I just told her what I needed. I've had to put down two of my pets in this year already and getting back to the gym was a big task for me so depressed. This kind of customer service happens every time I come into the gym. Unless the manager is there shes great she is very helpful. Every time I come in and the staff ignore or are rude I try my best to suck it up and just go work out but its not healthy. I have been paying for a membership since the gym has opened. God If I did that at my work it would be the end of my job. You must greet customers and help them with in 10 seconds that is a retail rule. You may not be retail but you guys serve the general public . Treat all your customers equally and with care. If it weren't for each other we would all be gone that's a fact. I've lived a long life already and would like to live some more and that SMILE is so important to me it goes a LONG way. I just hope this review helps the right people. but one can only hope.

Went to Crunch when it was Popeye's and then World Gym. It was great until memberships went down to $10/mth & you could no longer get a parking space or a spot in a class. Over the years I had heard many stories of people being jerked around when they tried to cancel their memberships...being overcharged or the monthly charge continuing to come out of their accounts...and then it happened to me. I had gone in , in person, to cancel my membership. Totally understand that one more monthly pmnt would go through. At that time they also had two pmnts of $21 I believe called a rate guarantee payment. After I cancelled my membership I left enough money in my account that I was closing to cover the next monthly payment. They also took out the rate guarantee payment resulting in an NSF charge from them and my bank! When I called to ask why I would have to pay a rate guarantee when I would no longer be paying any rate at all they were no help at all and said it was within 30 days.

Been coming to this location for more than a year now, I absolutely would recommend this location, from the staff to the equipment and everything else, a great place to get your workout done. Things did change a bit during the pandemic but With current Covid19 restrictions, the staff here at the Waterloo location are doing a great job of keeping the gym clean, as well as making sure members are wearing their masks and staying safe.

Haven't been to this gym since 2019 but I kept the membership open. Last year they charged me the annual fee just after the lockdown date was announced. Same deal this year, plus an nsf fee that I was told I'll be refunded. Still waiting for that miracle to happen lol. I don't think it's fair to charge annual fee when it's obvious there will be restrictions regarding the number of people allowed in the gym. I for one have no time to hunt for the 10 spots available every hour in the gym. Be fair and not money hungry guys.

I emailed in a complaint about canceling my membership and having to pay almost $100.00 because a staff member of the Waterloo location gave me ill advice. I emailed Jen Vasey regarding my complaint and she completely disregarded what I sent her. She didn't even respond to my email until I followed up with her and sent multiple additional emails on their site. Extremely distraught with this company and at the staff there! I will NEVER return there for any reason, your business is a disgrace and management is a joke. I intend on filing a complaint about this location and management with head office.

Atrocious customer service. Initially I loved Crunch Fitness-Waterloo, the rates were cheap and the staff seemed friendly. However, we’ve seen the true colours of this establishment during the worst of the pandemic. They don’t respond to calls or emails. Thinking of cancelling your membership? Haha, good luck. I’ve phoned 2 dozen times in the past 2 weeks, and sent multiple emails with no responses. Luckily my Visa was hacked this week so my old card no longer exists. It's okay. I like the new paint job. Some of the changes are obnoxious. There's a guy who monopolizes half of the treadmills on Wednesday nights and sets up a loud boombox in the middle of the gym. He blasts his own personal choice of songs for everyone. They are full of non edited swear words that audible to the young children coming in and out of the day care at the front desk. Front desk staff in the early morning hours are very pleasant. Good variety of equipment and respectful gym users. Carts holding the equipment cleaning sprays are falling apart, and there tends to be a lot of empty water bottles and personal belongings left around the gym. Should be cleaned more frequently in the early AM when the gym is not busy. Lockers also need to be cleaned occasionally; someone accidentally sprayed a set of locker doors in the men's locker room with their shake and the doors were still dirty 3 weeks later.

It's basically the definition of an average gym. It's one of those places you pay 10 bucks a month and get exactly what you pay for. They do offer a premium membership as well but I've never tried that. Usually quite busy especially in the free weights area. Open 24 hours on some days which is nice. Would be 4 stars but they have screwed up on payment related things twice in the 9 months I've been a member here and I will likely cancel to try a new gym in a few months.

It's cheap, and just around the corner from my workplace, so not only does it appeal to my thrifty nature, but it's also geographically convenient for me. Tons of equipment. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded after work, but usually there are enough options that if you're flexible in your routine, you can still get a decent workout. WiFi has been upgraded, and since then has worked every time for me.
