Edited: The review below is a year old. Things have changed. It has the best equipment selection by far compared to other Goodlife. Goodlife should make this as a template to all their ageing locations (particularly the kings mill one). The morning staff are amazing now. Not sure about the harassment comments below. Thank you for listening to our feedback. The morning staff need to set their alarms properly. I call on management to provide them with loud alarm clocks. Third time within the past year this gym has not opened at regular hours. Management is obviously irresponsible, incompetent, and complacent with this kind of incompetency among their staff. This has not been rectified and its so frustrating. Too bad, since the trainers and the gym itself are amazing. If I can give zero stars I would.
One of two good locations in Scarborough (along with Markington) for equipment and facilities. Be warned, if you are someone who doesn't like to be contacted by sales reps (or anyone) while working out/ has no intention spending $$$ on personal training, DO NOT come to this location. I have a multi-location pass, and no other locations' staff in the GTA has bothered me as much to take one-on-one sessions - creating a feeling of obligation. Now every time I walk in here I avoid eye contact with the trainers - do not come here if you have this type of anxiety.
I used to go regularly but ever since they changed the configuration of the gym equipment set up, it is not working for me i hate it and i feel exposed whenever i am using the inner and outer thigh machine; so needless to say I hardly go anymore so I am thinking of cancelling my membership.
I visited this gym over the weekend and I must say, I love love loved it!!! First impression started off with Claudia at front desk. She greeted me and made me feel welcomed. The club was spotless, tidy and organized. I didn’t have to search for equipment. Staff on duty were all friendly and smiling - just what I like to see to make my day a brighter one. Way to be Cedarbrae!!! #firstimpressionscount #iwouldgiveyou10stars #keepitup
I am pleased to say this gym has come along way. They took healthy critique to heart and it has become a great gym. Much more lively, good full, equipment, clean, staff etc. Been thais quite a few times of late and leeds several other venues. Only thing lacking is good lockers. The old tiny thin ones are still their but other than that its excellent. Older previous review below Friendly gym, big but they have been playing talking rap music for 12 years. When I use to visit Canada I went their for convenience. Now I live around the corner but for most part avoid it. Except for the occasional respite, the massive years of slow same same rap music is soul destroying, and sucks energy, killing any chance of vibe. I know several people who just avoid it for the same reason. I do not know why they insist on so many years of it. I have made several mentions to them. Got to the point of being amused as before I lived here, every two years I visited, I walk upstairs. Yup, rap, talk music. Always an agenda and story telling that. Not befitting for other sections of the community nor adds life to the place, it's depressing and I have been in the industry as coach and athlete for 24 years. Someone has to say something. Other than that, it's got everything one could need.
Very rude front desk receptionist, they don't know how to do customer service I am a very senior member of godlike fitness but I never ever met very rude manager and some of front staff
Worst Experience.Manager is rude.Don’t know how to behave with Customer.
This facility has been repurposed several times, and is in dire need of some aesthetic improvements. The front entrance is not particularly inviting, and the steps up are dark and worn. The weights area is large and well stocked, and the staff are pleasant and efficient. The locker rooms need a total overhaul, as the locker rooms and washroom areas are cramped, and, extremely hot and humid and have no ventilation or air conditioning. The lockers themselves are small, dark and worn, and many are hard to open and close due to locks having been cut off from previous gym facility incarnations. The group fitness studio floor has seen better days, although a good wood floor is rare today. This wood floor is serviceable, but has dips in it now due to leaks in the roof overhead. Classes are run with waste paper baskets or paper towels catching the water as it drips. The classes are crowded now due to the closing of Morningside Goodlife in December 2018, so participants there now attend at Cedarbrae. Adding more Cedarbrae classes would alleviate that situation. The group fitness instructors here are excellent, as they are at most Goodlife locations; Goodlife and CanFitPro ensure that instructors teach to the class and not to the mirror (as is the case in many other non Goodlife gyms and private locations). The ceiling fans work as they should, as the fans are controlled by a switch at the studio entrance. A face lift would elevate Cedarbrae aesthetically, and compliment the high level of instruction offered here.
This gym is so clean compared to the other GoodLife fitnesses. I was so impressed and everyone is so friendly and just has a good vibe. I’m so sad the daycare is closing here because the daycare staff made me feel safe leaving my children here. I have to start attending metro location with the daycare there now and was concerned about the daycare staff there. I won’t go into details but if I see any issues at the other good life I will be reporting it right away form this moment forward. Anyway, super sad the daycare is closing and if anything, people will start joining a cheaper gym or ymca for daycare. Not sure this is a very wise move from GoodLife!
GoodLife is good place. However stay away off cedar mall location, unprofessional and rude staff. BIG ZERO STAR
Staff aren't really friendly and typically ignore clients. Smaller location, pretty busy. Last 2 times I took a shower at this location, the shower heads and knob didn't work properly.
Best Gym Ever!!! Taher has been my personal trainer and a great motivator since 3years and on going. The results I have achieved to date are largely due to Taher’s perfect combination of diverse training methods and challenging yet achievable goal setting. He is a truly excellent personal trainer. He is skilled, thoughtful, sensible and pleasure to work with and talk to. He works with the whole person - mentally, emotionally and physically. Because of his efforts, I am now stronger and happy in my day to day life. Would highly recommend Taher (Personal Trainer) to anyone.! ????????
Huge facility love the amount of space very organized ONLY PROBLEM only 2 toilets in men's washroom hahahahah that's why 4 star but locker room area big ceiling no stinky sock smell hahhaah
Spacious gym thought it doesn't have a pool or any area for games. Remains busy in the evening and THIS IS NOT OPEN 24*7 which is sad.
Very spacious, with lots of equipment to use. They have a private room for women as well, which is great for my anxiety. Everyone is always very nice even though they can definitely tell I dont belong. Definitely coming back.
Just a waste of money and not getting anything for what we paid for. When I asked about a workout doubt to a staff he was reluctant to explain and he told me to google it. Very unprofessional. I will not recommend this money looting gym to anybody.
The main workout room is extremely dusty, I'm not too sure what they are called, I think maybe beams on the wall at the back and the area where the equipments are on. Well I don't believe it's healthy breathing in this dust in this closed in area. I've spoken to a couple of 'young' female managers and they have done nothing about it for well over a few months now. Please can someone clean/wash these things. Thank you for your time ????
This has been my home gym since 2015/2016 and I enjoy coming to this location. Mind you they switched up the machines and added a turf zone. I love how they added some new equipment, however this gym tends to get busy between 4pm to 8pm sometimes 10 pm. I like coming in the mornings because you get tips from some of the people working out and praise when you’re doing well on your form. I’ve had a gentlemen show me how to properly do my squats and sumo squats. I think they should bring back the one free personal training session for new sign ups. I feel that may help bring more business. My plan is corporate now and I have a lot of my colleagues think about joining but don’t see the benefit of doing so. All in all I enjoy coming here and will continue visiting this location ????
The GYM staff are good and the GYM its self is good, but the people in it are just looking around to steal your stuff, I accidentally forgot my earbuds on top of my cloths during shower, I came back and boom they are gone! ughhh!
People that train here smell of body odor. Gym is also overly heated
I love going here everyday staff are friendly and it's clean
GYM is very big with 5 Studios and 3 sections of Machines and a large Section of Free Weight. The problem of this GYM is you need to look after your stuff. The same to all the GYM anyway.
The associates at the gym have been nothing but generous and patient with my friends and I. All the trainers and reps there I find are friendlier than at other locations.
The gym is spacious but a complete mess. Bumper plates can be found throughout the gym, where they should only be found at the powerlifting platform. Another issue is that the majority of the dumbbells are not even close to where they are supposed to be. Most of the individuals who come here, use the weights and never return them back. It’s an adventure to find plates when you want to use a free weight machine. Old lockers and showers and mediocre towel service (overwhelming bleach smell). Please step it up Goodlife!.
Lots of good space for training and working out. Edge (Adam Copeland) also made a public appearance at this location.
Rude staff. Never guided me the accurate information about the membership. False verbal commitments. I wish I could give a negative ratings and that too -130 (amount they took from me for using the club for 5 days) miscommunication from staff befooling people for money. All I suggest is to stay away from GoodLife to stay fit mentally.
Rude manager: Mr. Long Braids What a pathetic team member and lettingn down a big brand name. While working in a customer-centric environment disrespecting the person by asking stupid questions related to ethnicity of fellow colleagues who shared a promotional offer detail and was communicated wrong and taunting a tentative customer saying “ Bro, do you know people pay $80 a month for gym memberships?” I mean Mr. Long Braids poor customer facing etiquette. ????
I cannot describe the smell in that gym. Dirty underwear or dead body. And I couldn't figure out if it was the patrons or the gym itself. Free weights were strewn around. Machines are in no order (not by brand or muscle group). Never going back.
I wish I can give zero star to them. The worst customer service ever.Illiterate staff who does not know that they are getting paid because of their Customers. The guy at the front desk is biased to customers specially if you are Indian.Grow up guys
It would be really appreciated if they could post online like all the other Goodlife's when their classes get cancelled or their rooms aren't available to use. Nothing more annoying then getting all the way there and being told a class is cancelled or rooms are unavailable (maintenance).
My experience at goodlife is best . I feel motivated when I go there. The guy at the front is very cheerful every time we go there. Everthing is in specific order and they also have designed rooms. Women section is great for the girls and women to feel free at the place and privacy.
I really enjoy working out here. Never overcrowded, even during peak hours. Lots of machines and equipment. Atleast two of the same type of machine/equipment.
I've been a member at Goodlife for the last 3 years, and I must say that Cedarbrae is my favorite location. When entering the front door to climb the stairs, I'm greeted with a huge welcome from Charmaine who is at the front desk. She is so full of life, energy and is always happy every time I go to the gym. I've been to other locations and because of her why i keep going back to Cedarbrae. She puts me in the mood to workout. She also teaches cycle and body pump and her classes are always full. Every one in the gym loves her and talks highly about her. Goodlife should have more front desk customer service reps like her.
Feeling cheated. Thing is that I went to cancel the gym very next day when they deduct my biweekly payment. There I got to know that I have to pay charges for one more time means total period of one month I have to use the gym. They didn't even informed me that I have to pay for another two weeks when I joined the gym. At that time they were like we are not here for your money, we want to change people's life. Why do I pay for something which I am not even willing to use. Leave this apart, they must have informed me that they will charge for another biweekly. Moreover, they persuaded me to get a personal trainer and I paid $180 for just 4 hours. I mean they didn't even told me that I can get group training as well on much cheaper rates. GIVING HALF KNOWLEDGE SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICED, I think.
Piece of a garbage when it comes to service. Trainers especially are not of any use,I ended up spending $500 and got nothing out of it. Never a single trainer contacted me for my sessions. And it was all waste of money. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.
7:50 still waiting outside of the gym many people waiting it's supposed to be open at 7 am very very disappointed about this location so upset...????????
Underwhelming staff compared to other locations. Customer service is mediocre at best. Only upside is that it never gets really busy. So you can enjoy your workout in peace
The locker room is from the 80's, the showers don't have a place to put your own soap. Dont get me started on the glass separators in the showers. Alot of wasted space in the gym the middle with the artificial turf what a total waste of space and the juice bar.
I have been personal training with angelo for a year and a half. He has not only helped me reached my goals, but he helped me on a personal level to keep my head up, believe in myself and keep going. I highly recommend this location! the staff is super friendly, positive, and always eager to help. I am so happy I have invested in my health, it has only gone up for me!
Very clean and well-maintained, the staff there is amazing as well. i highly recommend speaking with Jack if you have any questions or concerns and josh is a great trainer . Overall a wonderful experience.
I rate to 2.5-2.7 stars the first time I got to this gym, it was locked at the main entrance, I'm not even joking around about it, I was trying all doors and it wont budge and made me furious, so I decided to go inside the cedabrae mall to find the entrance but it was only outside and I wasted 20 minutes of my time when I could of work out and got home early. When I came back to the entrance the sign as up and the door was open and to my mind I look dumb, like really ? the gym had a weird odour to it and the lights seem like they haven't been changed; the equipment looked old and the weights were geometrical, I felt it was annoying for lifts The size of the gym was big and "roomy" but the atmosphere of the gym was not a good location to go at night by yourself if you were a "girl" got creep out by some of the members that came to the location, the workers were not around, I guess im not coming back to the location at all
The "general manager" by the name of Suzanne is extremely unprofessional and doesn't know how to treat the customers of Goodlife. Most of the 1 star review on this goodlife location is specific to customer service, and the general manager Suzanne doesn't have any sense of how to treat, which makes sense why all the staff are rude just like her. I had a workout session that ended at 4pm, I realized I dropped my wallet somewhere in the gym. I found it about 7 minutes after 4pm, Suzanne comes up to me, very rudely says that I need to get out of the gym. Without asking, if everything was okay. I politely say, okay. and head out. While I am heading out, she gets really close to my face not maintaining a physical distance, and tells me for the second time when the time is done I need to make sure to leave. And tells me that I also kicked one of the doors about 3 weeks back. It truly seemed like she was just having a bad day and wanted to take some anger out on a customer. I told her I would never do anything like that, but she persists and continues to harass me, advising me it was me. When I ask her, why wasn't I told of this 3 weeks ago, or the next several times I came. Why wasn't it brought to my attention, so I could've cleared it up, that it wasn't me. Suzanne makes excuses and threatens me that she's going to make a report against me. Suzanne doesn't understand the fundamentals of how a customer should be treated, accuses/harasses the customer, and doesn't respect personal space during a pandemic. After 5 years, I'm sad to say because of my experience with SUZANNE THE GM, I am considering leaving good life and filing an harassment claim with goodlife for the way I was harassed and accused of an incident that I did not commit.
It's a good gym. Plenty of machines and free weights to use. Even at peak gym hours (7 PM - 9 PM) it is not so crowded and you'll still be able to finish your workout. I'd wish for it to be less crowded but honestly from what I've experience on the other gyms it's more of the same (or worst). I have a trainer (Angelo) and it is definitely worth it. I ask him everything from seemingly clueless workout related questions to the why's and how's of my program. Along with proper nutrition and sleep, results are really easy to achieve.
Welcoming, highly motivated and knowledgeable staff. Well-maintained clean space, updated equipment, Jumproom (for babysitting kids), dry sauna and women’s section. A FUN friendly yet STRONG workout environment. I’ve never been in a gym with a better vibe! Shoutouts to Klem for introducing me to powerlifting, I used to only use the cardio machines but I’m now comfortable to use weights and gain strength????
This location used to be Ballys. A nice sized club has hot yoga. Studio is a little small, there is a good variety of machines....not a bad location but not my favourite in the chain
I've been working out regularly at this gym for the past three years and can honestly say that the staff there is great, especially the personal trainers, I've been training with Angelo for about a year and I've been seeing results and Angelo always keeps my best interests at heart to ensure that I reach my fitness goals. I've trained at a few locations over th e years, but this location has a great atmosphere.
Very spacious gym with lots of equipment and machinery. Always clean and not too busy though I mostly go at night.
Been attending this location since pre-pandemic and never had a problem. Got my workouts in when they would open up then went elsewhere when they would lockdown. Since the last lockdown even with less capacity I found the overall cleanliness has gone down. Staff is nice and manager Lexi could be more polite but thankfully I’m not there to socialize.
Amazing facility, lots of equipment and friendly staff who understand professionalism. They don’t crowd around talking to members. The cleaners do a fantastic job cleaning the facility. And if you’re ever too busy to prep a clean meal, check out FitMe416, amazing healthy meals for a good price.
I recently joined GoodLife Fitness at Cedarbrae Mall and let me just say I had the greatest experience. I was very nervous about going to the gym because I've never been apart of a gym, but the staff at the front desk was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away. I spoke with Mustafa to get set up and he was just so caring to my situation. The environment was clean and well kept, a wide variety of equipment. Also, they have child-minding which was awesome because that was part of the reason that was stopping me. I highly recommend coming here to get started!
Great gym, has lots of equipment and such a large space. Wish the hours were longer but otherwise a great goodlife.
Love this location! Everyone is super friendly, staff members are always helpful with any questions or concerns. Mustafa is great, he’s always extremely welcoming and present when speaking to him and always there to provided any assistance if needed. Very clean and organized location compared to the others in Scarborough. Mr.K is also really great and helpful if you have any questions. I always recommend this specific location to my friends or co workers who are interested in getting a membership.
I was alittle nervous about joining the gym but the staff here made me feel so comfortable that all those nervous went away! The general manager ( Suzanne I believe her name is ) is so kind and sweet. If you are looking for a gym to join this is the goodlife to go to! 10/10 would recommend to everyone.
I usually go to fit4less but when I go to this gym I am 10x more motivated because of the energetic atmosphere. Love this gym and can’t wait till it opens up to 100% capacity. LETS GOO!!!
I am really happy with the service that i got here! I got a membership with Sam and she was so amazing helping me get everything set up!
It has 3 power/squat racks and 3 flat chest benches and 2 incline benches. They have a good selection of cardio and other machines too! No pool or basketball court, by they have a hot yoga room. .
I started coming to this location after my home location closed. By far the best location in Scarborough. Staff is nice and friendly and very approachable. I am always greeted upon arriving and when I leave I always get a "goodbye, see you, or get home safe". These greetings make my experience more enjoyable. Mustafa the Assistant Manager helped me with my account multiple times and never seemed bother by my million questions. I also purchased personal training with Joshua. I had trainers in the past but Josh is very helpful with teaching me new exercises even some to do at home, he is accommodating to my busy schedule and is very present and engaging in our session. Anyone looking for a personal trainer, Josh is some one that will help you get to your fitness goal and will help you make new goals. I am very glad I came to this location to continue my fitness journey. I recommend this location to all my family and friends. Thanks GoodLife Cedarbrae staff.
SCAM OF A GYM. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM If it was possible not to even give 1 start I would have done so. very old equipment When you haven't signed up yet, OMG everybody is so friendly with an A+ service. Once you sign up, the devil reveals its true nature = very poor customer service up to their manager :( They have 25 different stories. They would give you 5 weeks free and say oh we didn't and in the event we did, it only applies when you sign up on a 1 year contract. Every so called promotion they give you needs to be written in black and white.
Great gym and amazing staff. Definitely choose this GoodLife over any I’ve been to, especially for the amazing equipment
Don't let the outside fool you, this is probably the best GoodLife and one of the better gyms in Scarborough. Much of the equipment is new, the staff is friendly, and the gym is spacious. Personally, my only gripe is if they had more benches. Otherwise, fantastic location.
One of the best gyms out there. used to be an extreme fitness location and is now good life. has a cross fit area as well.
Judith is the best personal trainer there is! she gave me the greatest motivation and pushed me to the limit. definetly my greatest experience ever...
Front desk staff is not friendly they don't greet you with a smile first impression counts and second impression the lockers are vintage and old looks like highschool lockers and there's holes in the bottom so if your underneath the person on top with wet shoes, your stuff will get soaked lol... They need to update the change rooms most definitely.
GoodLife Fitness at Cedarbrae Mall has implemented many safety measures to keep us safe!
Staff are absolute worst here. They are useless and not friendly at all. They just stare at you silently when you come in or leave. When i signed up i wasnt given any paper work no gym bags no nothing. The rude girl (who was standing staring at her instagram feed) just scanned a key tag and handed it to me without saying a word. I had to ask her "is that everything am i done now?" ... This gym has horrible air circulation and could be alot cleaner!! Size is nice but otherwise horrible
I was harassed by an older male at this gym and when I went to seek help from Charmaine claiming that I did not feel safe (one of the staff at the front desk), she did not validate my safety. She made comments to her co-worker OUT LOUD "my shift finishes at 2:00pm, this is not my business", she said "this is a waste of time" to my face, and when I said I wanted to call the police because the older male was about to punch me and was making inappropriate comments towards me she said "I don't care, do what you want". She has zero respect for any of the clients coming in. Not to mention her HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. As a young adult, I have never experienced a situation like this before in my life and she made me feel extremely unsafe.
Amazing place to workout at with friendly staff:)
The best part is that its not crowded and has variety of machines. However, the staff (most of them) is novice to the concept of good customer service. Owner, please train them and you will see/hear better feedback.
I really enjoy going to this gym. It has all the equipment I need and the front desk people are very sweet. My only issue is that the plates for the power racks by the benches need to be better organized and/or organized more frequently. I see a lot of misplaced weights as well as a lack of smaller weighted plates (plenty of 25, 35, and 45lb plates but where are the rest of the 5 and 10lb plates?).
I randomly chose Cedarbrae Goodlife as my home gym. Choosing Cedarbrae Goodlife was the best decision I ever made. I highly recommend this location. I signed up for Personal Training with Nicole Gapo. I got matched with a perfect trainer who has been providing me with a therapeutic training environment, while focusing on body and mind goals. Nicole is such a genuine, sweet, and hard-working trainer who really goes out of her way to accommodate my scheduling needs. Being new to the gym she really motivated me, provided me guidance and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I highly recommend Nicole for PT. I also attend Zumba classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the instructors are amazing if you love Soca and Latin music. The staff are SUPER welcoming and sweet. Shoutouts to Moose, Nick, Andrew, and Chris.
