Thomas is one of the best instructors out there. Personable, welcoming, will work you, plays good music, energetic! Parking lot is good size, will never have trouble finding a spot.

Chris Hill

Nice equipment, but starting to get dirty and overcrowded. Water on floor, paper towels etc. People don't re-rack weights. Lots of staff, but all congregating at the front desk, so no one really on the floor to keep it cleaner. You get what you pay for.

Ok i go in there about 30 mins ago and asked for a manager, i was told she was working out then he changed and said she may have stepped out but i'll go look. So the attendant at the door leaves and returns about 4 min later stating she's not here, i explained to him i've been trying to cancel my membership since Friday, i came in twice on Friday and the first time i was told he was there but stepped out and i could sit and wait so i left and returned about an hour later. When i returned I was then told AGAIN he wasn't there and stepped out, I explained I was there earlier and told the same thing, then the attendant said "well he actually never came in but I can wait for him and his name is Dave Singleton. I went back yesterday around 3 and was told the managers leave at 2 on the weekends. I went back today and guess what? NO MANAGER! I told the attendant it's as if you are trying to force me to keep my membership! Why the game of tag? The attendant said they don't even know how to do it only managers can....smh! So the attendant asked me my info, I wrote it down and he said he will give it to the manager and she will call me. I won't hold my breath.

The Zumba and strength fitness sessions are great. The fitness center is fully equipped and offers personal training as well. My only disappointments are the so call supervisors which are Caucasians. Are the biggest A**holes in there. One of the individuals is a short female and the other one is a very tall, skinny male. They are rude and have no idea how to speak to customers. I was there for 7p Zumba class, which I was already checked in. I stopped abruptly to be interrogated which results intense conversation. Their attitudes were ridiculous using unacceptable remarks. I do plan to report them to corporate. Otherwise, going there is fine and hope you don't have to encounter them.

So easy to join the gym, But when you want to cancel your membership, their staff doesn't follow through, and they make it hard for you to cancel.. No, i don't recommend it!

Brian Britto

Nice gym but got ripped off when sighing up. They push the $24 membership never even told me there was a basic plan for $9.95. The $24 gets me into work out classes I don't want or use. When I found out about the $9.95 plan I called to try and down grade my membership, I was told I had to wait 6 months and the speak with a manager and have to pay an additional $10 to down grade. I couldn't believe it. Pay $24 for 6 months then $10 to down grade! Not worth it. There locker rooms are dirty. Bathroom is always dirty and no customer service at all.

I was lied at the moment of subscribing to the gym. Be careful, this people get you in a contract for a whole year without even tell you. I wanted a monthly base membership and they got me in a contract. I went and complaint and they charged me with 59$ annual maintenance fee and early termination fee 49$. I didn't even worked out, not even once. This people are thieves. Watch out. Be careful. So you don't get into something u are not asking for. And u don't lose your money like I did.

Janella Murphy

I really like this Crunch Fitness very much. The staff are very nice and helpful as well as the atmosphere. I especially love the classes that are offered with your membership. I was looking for a fitness club that offers those perks????????????????????????????‍♀️

Vanessa Haley

2nd time at Crunch, first time at the Roslindale location. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and even ask how my workout was after I was done. I went on a day pass to try the gym out. Clean facility, available machines and no crowds at 6:15am. The only draw back is that the gym is not 24 hours and they do not have that many locations near me.

Jen

TERRIBLE. I joined a year and a half ago. The machines are slowly breaking down one by one. The power rack has been broken/unusable for a year already. I once asked the manager (bald tall guy) when they were expecting to fix it? He was rude, dismissed me, and just said he "it's not his fault they keep bringing the wrong parts." Surprise surprise, it's been a year and it is not fixed. The machines look really worn out and are constantly breaking. A group of us will be leaving soon. Do not join this gym!

Jasairy Valdez

Back in February, my mother slipped and fell right outside the bathroom area because the staff neglected to wipe down the floor which was wet and to put up a sign warning that it was wet! My back was sore and hurting for days! We called the Manager, who said he would look into getting mats for the place, its been 6 months, still no mats and floors are still wet on occasion! Bathrooms are disgusting! Just yesterday, saw the toilets covered in feces and it isn't the first time! Place needs better maintenance!

Michael Long

Cheap money but, limited machines. Crowded work out space. A friend of mine has tried to cancel his membership and has been getting the run around for weeks. Manager not here, will be back, come back tomorrow and we don't know how to do it. Horrible costom er service. I left the gym I attend currently. They tryed to talk me out of it but let me go right there. That's why I rejoined when I again had the time.

Jay Brown

Good gym. Good equipment...need a steam room and sauna...

Robert Harris

Good gym, but hard to reach out to someone to contact about billing issues.

Kevin Joseph

I’ve been to many different Crunch locations, even out of state and this by far the least friendly place. The staff will micromanage you as you try to workout. Very annoying.

Madeline Tejada

The gym is ok if you can get a workout in the morning. The equipment is all right. It's missing a stretching station and other gym essentials like step ups. The gym is always overcrowded during evening hours. Cleanliness is not their priority. Women showers are always dirty. You get what you pay for and if you're ok with just getting in there and working out, then it's ok. Just go in the mornings and always bring your gym locks.

Kevin Williams

I actually like this gym. No complaints other than the fact I just found out that they are charging me $69 just to downgrade my membership after they already charged me for my yearly membership... highway robbery. They stuck it to me, now I'm sticking it to them. Crunch needs to rethink that one.

sabumnim Master

Nice facility. Staff is nice but, stand around chatting with each other than enforcing rule in regards to use of equipment and maintenance of facilities. Patrons slam equipment and don't replace weights after use. Great location.

Peter Starus

Do not sign up for this gym. If you ever want to cancel, it is a bad experience and they will keep trying to charge you. That is what happened to me.. I canceled my membership on May 5th, 2019 and got an email stating it was canceled. I submitted a cancellation request on May 5th, 2019 and spoke to Crunch Fitness representatives from the Roslindale, MA location. He stated that I will have to submit a cancellation request online, which I promptly did on the same day, on May 5th, 2019. I received an email as proof of my submission of my cancellation request and was advised I would have to make one final payment. This means all payments after June 5th should have not occurred. From the cancellation confirmation email I received, it states: "To cancel or freeze your account, all memberships require a 30 day notice/one final payment and must be current with all payments." So they charged me on May 23rd, 2019 for $10.90. Which is fine, since this is their policy, you have to pay one final payment and 30 day notice. Why is it then, that I have another automatic payment in the amount of $10.90 on my credit card bill processed on June 23rd, 2019? Since I made the request on May 5th, 2019, my so called "final payment" should have been on May 23rd, 2019. This is a scummy tactic and policy that the gym has, and I had no problem to make that one final payment on May 23rd, 2019. However, the charge for $10.90 on themJ 23rd, 2019 should not have occured. I sent them an email, and they never replied. If this company cannot even bother to respond to it's customers with any issues it has, then that says alot about the company, and what it thinks of its customers time. In order to get my money back I had to call my credit card company and get the transaction reversed. Also, requested a new card number so they couldn't charge me again on July 23rd, 2019, or even August 23rd, 2019 etc., since I still don't know if my account is closed. Communication is key, and that it one thing that this company doesn't care about. I was a member here for a good 3 years, and that is how they treat people and expect you to pay 2 months after you already cancelled your membership. Absolutely dispicable business practice. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR CRUNCH FITNESS.

Sean

This place is a total dump. Despite being fairly new all of the equipment is haggard. Everyone who trains here must be unemployed because you see the same faces here no matter when you go. They aren't there to train. They are there to hang out with their friends and take over entire portions of the gym. The only thing worse than the clientele is the management. Prepare to get spammed via text, phone and email with requests to sign up for personal training or tanning. The worst though was when I received a bill months after quitting. I had moved halfway across the country and they were trying to collect dues from me for months after I had quit and moved several states away. It's a shady dump. You can do better.

Jeanette Belmont

I came here as a guest of a member and got a great workout in this facility. This gym is well equipped with machines for both cardio and strength training. It also has a good selection of free weights and the calisthenics area is adequate though when it is crowded it is easy to be in each others way. Their check in system is computerized and honestly if I lived closer to the facility I would have signed up myself.

UPDATED REVIEW: Had to go back in person again but the manager was there. He was a nice guy and knew nothing about my list of contact trying to end the membership. Anyhow he called in person and made sure my account was closed and I was refunded. I still would not ever go back. Just not for me. Initial Review:Besides being only average in everything they keep billing you months after you end your contract. I have done everything to end a non-renewable contract that ended 1/19 and even today May 24, 2019 I am still trying to being billed by this lame place. I went in person, emailed and called to no avail. I want everyone to know what poor customer service they provide. The manager is a no-show. Never there. Never responded to emails or calls.

I am not sure how the other reviewer could consciously rate an establishment that was not even opened for business a month ago. CFR opened around January 20th. As a marathoner, I dread running indoors, but it is a necessary evil if you reside in Boston where the winter weather can sometimes be downright ugly. Now I will caution you that this review is only from the perspective of my needs - I don't have the patience for group classes or social meet-ups. My therapy comes for the streets. I belong to the Reggie Lewis Track Center, but the hours are limited, it is closed during holidays, and it's about 4 miles from my house. I decided to incur the expense of an additional membership because CFR is a mere .75 mile run or drive from my house, opens at 5:30 a.m. (The Reggie opens at 7:00 a.m.) has plenty of treadmills for those days when I need to man up to the treadmill for an indoor training run and enough weights for my strength training. That is the extent of my needs and review. Staff is friendly, locker room is clean, well lit, with plenty of hot water. I am able to rent a locker at the Reggie so I hope they extend this option at CFR as I hate toting stuff. I have yet to wait for a machine and for those folks who fail to clean their machine, the cleaning staff wipes them down regularly. A big bonus in my book; can't afford to miss a race because of germs...yuck! I have also hired one of their coaches whom I interviewed extensively to ensure that he is well qualified and will meet my needs. I was greatly impressed by his ability to listen to me and counter all of my queries with a comprehensive and tangible plan. Can't wait for our session of agility work! My only complaint which is not a much ado is that their fees...geesh! Other than that, this running woman is pretty pleased so far.

The gym itself is fine. I was in the area for a summer, and attempted to cancel my membership when I left. To cancel a membership they make you fill out a google form, and have a manager call you to finally cancel your membership. I filled out the form twice in two separate months, called the gym multiple times, and emailed the gym. They still have not cancelled my membership (currently 63 days after I first submitted the from) and still bill me. Would not recommend getting any kind of recurring membership here

Danny Prez

Welcome to Club Crunch: The cover per month is cheap. They take your ID at the door (if you're a guest) Normally packed The place is clean and the equipment is legit. Great music (Hip hop, RnB, Reggae) Just remember, no boots allowed in the club

Ron Wong

Solid gym and one of the few in the area. Have everything you need, cardio, machines, turf area and free weights. Worth checking out if you live in Hyde Park

Chante

I like the almost but don’t like that 1/3 of the equipment is often broken and take months to fix or replace. The lack of varied abdominal machines and squat machines. Too much cardio equipment. Location is great though.

Marcus B.

I joined Crunch /Roslindale when they first opened up and I loved it. Clean bathrooms, nice equipment, pleasant staff. Every year since, Crunch has slowly deteriorated. 1st they took away the paper towel dispensers in the men's locker room, then the scale disappeared. The frequency of cleaning the main floor began to wane and now there are several pieces of equipment that has remained "out of order". The mirrors remain filthy and the bathrooms are just a mess. I am looking for another gym as I type this review. Crunch!! Your days are numbered!

Charissa Watkins

If a person stops coming for over 6 months you should cancel their membership because they never go. You shouldn’t be paying money for a membership your not using period. This facility scans your barcode on the membership card giving you a way to track if you coming or going... this place charges people who have no commitment at all $24.95 a month

Michael yaya

Rude staff shower broken, locker dirty people don't whip down equipment. there need better customer service place more sign tell ppl know rack weights 4 pm to 8pm is ur busy time look how other ppl treat the equipment don't single out one person in gym. this place night to be check id so hard core u don't sell liquer

Alnesheia Cokley

I would not recommend that place the staff is so unpleasant and unprofessional i had a personal trainer only thing he want me to do is take his boxing class he do as a side hustlefor $200 after i pay crunch $180 once I told him no he didn't bother to train me when I ask for a refund they told me no

Brian White

Overall a fairly comprehensive gym in terms of equipment and space, but what makes this gym a 2-star is the complete lack of good management. Volume of memberships should have been limited (or monthly membership prices should be raised) to avoid overcrowding. Staff hiring and training efforts should be increased.

JACKIE RAMOS

The gym itself is fine. The bathrooms are always clean. The equipment is quite outdated and some are unusable at times. It often takes quite some time to fix equipment. ALL STAFF MEMBERS are ALWAYS friendly and helpful! I notice Jeremi makes his rounds, talks and helps everyone!!

kgenois

I was reluctant to go there and start a membership after I read some of the reviews..but I decided to check it out for myself anyway and was pleased with what I found. The customer service was a huge bonus. Great job guys!

Gryphon Layne

The gym has stolen 400 dollars from me. During lockdown i moved, assuming i would get a notice or some communication if i were to billed again, since my contract was null and void being unable to use this gym. The gym has refused to refund me and an employee asked for my number to give the manager to get me off the phone. Not only is the placed overpriced for its location and services, its an untrustworthy business that will steal customers with no remorse

Sharhea Wade

I have asked repeatedly since August 2018 to cancel my account. This is absolutely the worst system. I have been charged for over 6months repeatedly and still it is hard to cancel my account. Now it has increased. The managers of this location are frauds and seriously need to address this stupidity. Cancel my account!!

Abner Gerome

Friendly staff.. clean environment.. plenty of gym equipments and a variety of gym memberships depending on your budget..but if you are interested in getting in shape and staying healthy at a budget.. this is the best place for you.

Jawara Moseley

Canceled my membership 2 months ago, just to find out that I am still being charged. I call in to correct the matter and was handled (by a female manager) with the same ignorance that caused me to cancel in August. Customer service is great when you are signing up, but they critically and consistently drop the ball once you are a member. I work out to relieve stress, not to have it multiplied by STAFF MEMBERS!!

Stephanie Thomson (FANNIE)

I've been a member of this gym since it opened a few years back and I wouldn't go anywhere else. They have been real good about keeping up with Covid-19 protocols. I don't feel judged at this gym but very invited to do my own workouts or just hire a trainer. Very clean and the gym members and staff are very friendly.

Paula Muise

I really love the space and environment. Friendly staff, clean establishment, lots of machines, lots of free weights. There are loads of classes and they let you do a 7 day free trial before committing to signing up. So far I am very much enjoying the 2 days I've been there.

Frank L

More broken machines. Never enough pins to go into the cable machines. Impossible to find 10 pound free weights. Paper towels in the floor. Oh well. The clientele are friendly and it's a cheap monthly rate.

Taylor Taylor

Thought my experience with them would have been better, but unfotunately not. Bad business practices, called to speak with someone and was basically given the not our problem attitude. Then when asked to speak with a manager was placed on a long hold and then hung up on.Called back and was placed on hold once again and told a bunch of nonsense. I am done with them will cancel my membership immediately. Unhappy Customer !!!!

Samuel Watson

Much better facilities than Planet Fitness, and ample parking. They have an inconvenient policy of taking the IDs of guests using the gym. It took them ten minutes to find my ID when I went to leave. Additionally, when I arrived, I noticed a staff member being rude to a gym member. The gym is generally clean and the music is better than PF, but some machines show obvious signs of long term wear

Ryan Joyal

Went for the first time last week. Dirty paper towels/wipes all over the place. Masks are halfway on and it is crowded. Staff was nice though.

John Ovesen

Been going for 4 years now and I have to say two things, IF YOU ARE LOCAL it's a GREAT VALUE! Stop N' Shop, Walgreen and DISCOUNT LIQUORS right next to it. Gym has a local crowd and for the most part is pretty clean. Secondly, I always recommend 12 to 2 p.m. (people are at work) & the last hour (10 to 11 p.m. Mon-Thursday or 9 to 10 p.m. on Fridays) to go since the gym is less empty and it's easier to use whatever machines you want. Staff is pretty chill. Showers I used to use until Covid happen now I just use for lockers & toilets which are decent. Overall, I'm happen this gym opened.

Gwendolyn Brown

Great approach from Staff, very professional. Walked me through all the equipment. Full body massage. Crunch Fitness offer me a 3day free pass. Great Facility.

chris Winston

Dirty gym management really is Angry and probably need to go into another business. Management really not people people unfortunately. Today the 28th horrible horrible an getting worse with no paper towels, running out of wipe. But today only 1 dispenser has in whole gym trash cans full becoming the norm!! Here's a few pics again

Carmen Cohen

The manager, Jeremy, overcharged me by $90. It's been more than two weeks and they won't refund my money! I have tried to call another manager and email the company but non one is calling me back !

Ryan Grande

DO NOT join here!!! They will take your money and not let you cancel your membership! I have been trying to cancel mine for months now and they won't even return my calls, emails (being sent directly to their manager), or my inquiries through their website. I strongly advise people to avoid this place, or any gym right now for that matter.

Ahkia Cassamajor

The gym is one of the best gyms I found overall. Yes it's a basic gym with lots of equipment however the staff is very friendly and super helpful. The classes are great and the memberships are very affordable. This gym TRUMPS planet fitness to the tenth power! LOVE MY GYM

Shari Perry-Wallace

After a year of being in Roslindale, I am quite disappointed at the sanitary conditions of the facility, specifically the cleanliness of the equipment. I have continually reported to staff about communicating to the members to wipe down the equipment after each use. I have not seen any emails nor signs posted. I have taken photos of the sweat, dirt, dust and crud that are on all the machines. I would greatly appreciate a follow-up by a corporate manager to this complaint.

Cathy M

Just joined from 24/7 in Stoughton ( Geat gym) and l'm tempted to look for another gym. Joined because its 5 minutes from my house. The showers dont have a waiting space. Always crowded. Its just an open space with limited machines. OK. If you just want to use the treadmill and leave

Nadgie An

Great and friendly staff. The only thing I would say it’s often dirty

Addison M

A complete a total scam of a business. My husband signed up here not even THREE DAYS ago, NEVER used the facilities, only to learn that he can't commit to a gym membership due to other circumstances right now. He went to cancel the membership and they told him he would have to pay some ridiculous processing or cancellation fee (??) for 12 months, totaling over $300 !! How on EARTH are we supposed to get out of this membership?? Do NOT sign up here!

Daniel Noel

Pros: lots of equipment, spacious, fun group classes, great price, trainers know there stuff Cons: It can get overcrowded at certain times of the day (5:30p-7:30p), they need to work on their customer service skills, locker room showers flooded, some lockers are broken and unusable. Recommendation: Do your research before committing. You can do a one day trial and get a sense of what you'll be paying for. For individuals new to working out, it can be intimidating with all the men crowded in one section, or you enter at peak hours and there aren't any machines available. If you can workout in the morning or weekends, I would say come because its a different place. Overall, its a good gym in the community at a great rate.

Rose Estimable

Best Gym ever! Positive experience each time. Considering the risks of hypertension, type 2 diabetes and obesity posing on our population, this gym is the best thing for the community. People are comfortably working out in a judgment free zone, feeling good and healthy.

Renaud Alexandre

The customer service is 2 out of 10. When you walk in no one says anything to you unless you say something first. On the weekend people look at you like they don't want to be there or help you. Bring a guest seems like a big deal even if you are paying for it. The men's bathroom has a broken parts they still have not fixed for severely months now. The gym it self is great with everything they have. They are in a great community and the vibe or energy they put out is not welcoming. They are missing out on a great opportunity to make this area healthy and fit.

JOYCE PALMER

The gym is okay. It needs a quick overall assessment. There are a few classes that needs to be changed, and modified. It serves persons of all ages and disabilities for instance, person with joint problems, arthritis problem, persons that are obese, persons that are sedentary that needs classes that will address those issues and others. ZUMBA should not be the ONLY class that is provided in the evening. There are a lot of things that needs to be address and changed to reach the masses and keep it fresh, exciting, enjoyable, and wanting the public to talk about how they are excited. The gym is not personable. I noticed it about ripping off people, I have noticed that and I will explain at another time. I join the gym because of its classes and now those classes are stale and repetitive, but most of all the instructors there are not very good. I must say what kept me (us ) is Kirby the best instructor and he is leaving. Please Keep the Friday night instructor Kirby.

AngelA Johnson

The only 2 spin bikes available that haven’t been working for very long time .Only 2 Step machines that barely work and need replacing . Weight machines out of order. The gym equipment and floors dirty and dusty . Don’t bother complaining to staff cause it will fall on deaf ears .This place is a mess. Will not be renewing my membership. If this gym was in a predominantly white area it would not be in such a poor condition.

Darren Boykin

At times I feel if I were to get Covid it would more than likely be from here. I’ve been to other gyms where they are required to take your temperature upon arrival and where there’s constant cleaning staff but this isn’t the case here. It can get very crowded during peak hours, people straight up do not wear their masks properly and there’s been plenty of times where you look around and find people not wearing their mask at all, whether lifting weights or on cardio equipment. The staff is really nice though and they have plenty of equipment

Brandon Grimes

We had an excellent experience at Crunch Roslindale! Great equipment with lots of variety, and a wonderful staff who were always friendly and helpful.

Greg Zhoba

Do not sign here. They have a 60$ sign up fee l, 60$ annual fee after 2 months. Also, they don’t tell you the 10.99 monthly fee puts you in a contract for a year. Absolutely ridiculous cash grab trying to lure people in and then never let them leave.

Edriss Thelus

These people took my money when I call multiple time to cancel my membership no one ever told me that they couldn’t do it online all they did was taking over 200 from my account when I called the store the supervisor ladel and the manager told me they not giving me the money when not even once I step my foot in there plus a clearly called and said I had a family emergency I had to move ASAP to help my mom in Indiana. They are scammers

Karen Smith

Typical gym with all the scams. They ran a promo that you'd get a free month if another member signed up using a code you give them. 4 months later and I am still calling monthly to get my free month. I get a different excuse every time. Otherwise, its nice and new, but I can't handle dishonest business practices.

derek amaral

Wish there were more Crunch gyms around. Plenty of cardio equipment, a good amount of free weights, plus machines and benches. I definitely enjoyed this gym.

Joe Thilman

Cons: Squat racks are not the greatest, nobody ever reracks weights, they don't have enough 10 pound plates so you have to search the whole gym whenever you need a couple. Pros: The gyms is super cheap, the plates are round so they're ideal for deadlifts unlike a lot of gym at this price point, the gym is not crazy crowded, they have 2.5 pound plates.

Lina Dossantos

I stopped going about a year ago, been trying to cancel my membership with this gym & they just won’t do it, I have gone there twice to try canceling it & every time they gave me excuses and they keep charging me. They are horrible!!! Would never recommend a place like this to anyone

Troy Edler

A great atmosphere for fitness. I'm just starting back and I really enjoyed myself.

Frenell Jean-Georges

Do not sign their personal training contracts. They lock you in for six months to a year and they are not very flexible also the gym is a very packed at night. The best thing it has going for is the $10 a month membership but often equipment is missing or broken down.

Tex Warner

Hi, I would like to make anyone considering joining this gym to be aware of the misrepresentation around their person training. I was told that they offered personal training for $55 per session and that I would have to sign up for at least 6 classes. However, this was not the case the cost of each class was $220 so the total cost of personal training classes was $1320 vs $330. Please do not get screwed like I did and confirm with the person completing your contract that you are signing exactly what you agreed too. Also, why the hell does the manager have to be there to get the contract terminated. Why can’t an employee terminate the contract once you have paid it in full. I guess they use this as a way to continue billing you $220.00 if you can’t catch the manger. Buyer please be aware!!!!!
