This Gym corresponds to the category of Gym.
I've had horrible experience with an associate here in the past when I applied here and was pushed to join the membership program. That aside I got my membership from someone I knew personally and didn't have to deal with any sales tactics or such. The gym itself is an okay one, yes it's crowded and the sanitation is not good but I myself come here to workout with my buddies and that's about it. Don't use their washrooms or anything nor do I plan to. The gym parking is pretty big and spacious, wait times for machines can be long depending on hours it is 24 hours though. I hope the new Goodlife being build at Heron Gate will be better overall.
This location has a small women's only but the rest of the gym is very large. It is kept very clean and has great staff.
Started my Pre authorised membership without any notification. GM claims email sent bit no email was sent. Membership was little higher where we could stop and start as need be. I tried to reason with GM at the Heron Gate Centre without any reasonable customer service. Will not be going to this location.
The equipment here is newer than most other Goodlife gyms. It get busy at times but it’s nicely big aerated gym and well air conditioned.
Their prices and plans were falsely advertised. And not worth the money spent
Please do yourself a favour and avoid this gym at all costs. I went in to try their advertised free trial, and was brought into a back room and given the most aggressive sales pitch of my life. This guy, "Arian" essentially refused to let me workout without signing up right now for some kind of a membership. He said things like what you want to work out with thugs and drug dealers at other gyms? Or you need to act on your impulse right now or you're never going to get anywhere. Or he repeatedly asked me, with more aggression each time, so what are you gonna do for a gym? I kindly explained multiple times that I wasn't sure and just wanted to give the gym a try first and he would cycle the same questions again and again. To put the cherry on top he says "If you're gonna waste my time, I'm gonna waste yours" at which point I picked up my stuff and left. He was literally trying to bully me at this point. Never felt like I've been talked to so aggressively and unprofessionally in my entire life. Would not recommend to anybody, find yourself a gym that isn't an obvious and forceful sales driven environment.
Nice and new gym. It's one large open space that has tons of cardio and weight lifting equipment. Even though the place is large it feels crowded between 3:00-5:00PM. All the equipment is new and the place is well kept. I just wish they had split the cardio and weight section to make it feel less crowded.
Very nice club, always very clean. It has its busy times just like any gym would, but never a long wait for a machine. 24 hours is very convenient for hectic work/home schedules.
Been a good location for workouts. Would be 3.5 stars instead of 4. Reason why is a couple years ago, I suffered a foot injury from dropping a weight plate on my foot (injury was my own fault). While the managers were good and helped provide first aid, they failed to follow up with me when they said they would. You would think a place would want to follow up when someone gets hurt and see how they were doing.
I have been going to GoodLife for over a year now. I was super excited when they opened the new gym on Walkley Rd. The gym itself is very large. I myself only use the gym but it also offers hot jogq classes, cycling classes and a wide variety of other classes. The staff is always friendly and supportive. Having a membership is great.
Been going here for a few years, no complaints. Clean, lots of equipment, nice staff, never too busy.
A really nice and big GoodLife with a separate area for women. Sometimes can get busy but I think it's a good population/crowd of people with a good mix of weightlifters and cardio fiends.
I like this new gym very much! They were wonderful when they realize that we needed more mirrors in the workout room. It took less than a month and they had a new mirror so we can all watch ourselves workout!! All the teachers I've worked out with have been awesome!
Small space with a lot of people. Place is clean and nice changerooms. But overall needs a real expansion.
It's like the tenth line location. They got a lot of workout equipment and the staff is great
This new gym is amazing. Staff are super friendly. Gym is somewhat clean. Washrooms and showers are a bit dirty as people are slobs.
After being talked into signing a personal fitness contract, I changed my mind overnight and sent a registered letter cancelling the membership. It took them no time at all to cash the deposit ($2000), but after calls to the headquarters I still have not received my money back. Yesterday, I cancelled my membership and if I don't get this resolved soon, I am going to take legal action. This place is nothing but a disastrous ripoff - See Marketplace with Tom Harrington!
This is one of the only clubs in Ottawa that offers Body Jam and I love it!!!
I have been a member to several gyms in Ottawa. GoodLife at HeronGate Mall is truly amazing. Best exercise equipment I have ever seen. Very spacious, fresh air is circulated, clean workout area, change room, etc Wonderful team working at the gym..... LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!!.
It is nothing special, but definitely not the worst gym. I has a nicely designed interior and lighting, change rooms are decently clean. My main complaint is the lack of equipment they have. They have almost no arm machines, and then just 1 and low abundance of machines too. The handles on their dumbbells are also beyond uncomfortably large.
Big, new and shiny. Lots of machines and equipment, great little women's only section, big group fitness rooms.
Very well equipped and spacious fitness centre and gym with friendly, helpful staff
Excellent Gym with great desk staff and treatment. It has it all. On a side note I have encountered some rude trainers with no manners.
Its a fine gym but you really get feel that the staff are more salespeople than gym. They will pressure you to sign up for minimum a one year gym commitment and one on one training sessions for about 54$/h. Even if you do the free trial they will pressure you to sign on immediately
Huge gym. I think there’s about 5 squat racks, the most I’ve seen in a Goodlife. All the necessary equipments are there. Friendly staff as always. Really crowded on the weekdays between 4 and 6pm. Lots of cross fit accessories. Hot yoga and fitness class studio. Great place, no complaints.
This gym has very nice facilities and I have never had a problem with any of the staff. There are tons of awesome group fitness classes and the gym is never overly busy. I am not giving this gym a 5 star rating only because communication between staff members has become an issue in the past for me; when I've called to cancel appointments with a trainer, most of the time, they never receive the message and are left thinking that I just didn't show up. Overall, I definetly recommend this gym.
The showers are good but the layout of the gym is not as good as nice as most Goodlife gyms
It's good, but if you dont like HUGE and open gyms, it's not for you. They have a personal ladies area, and a sauna, and beautiful showers. It's nice that way, but its dark in there and I find it too large, if you want more close and comfy, go to the fit for less on walkley and Conroy.
Beautiful gym, the best Goodlife in Ottawa. It's bright, has tons of different machines, very new and fresh. Only complaint - there is no iron in the men's change room. Still a 5 star.
Brand new gym! Everything is clean and shiny. Very large open space with high ceilings. Lots of cardio machines. Fully stocked gym with every conceivable piece of equipment. Change rooms and showers are all new and spotlessly clean. What a huge improvement over the previous location down the road (that place was gross). Not a complaint, just an obersvation - the shower stall doors must be close to 7 feet tall. Kinda weird.
Pros: Great personal trainers. I had Garrett Finter for the introductory course offered at a discounted rate when you first sign up. Could not be more impressed with the knowledge received. Even though I didn't continue with the program I never felt pressured to spend more money. It was an option. I would highly recommend you take it to learn the proper form so you don't miss out on progress. Parking lot is never full even on busy days with the surrounding buildings. Machines and weights are well maintained. Squat racks are well stocked with safeties and weights. Cons: Some front staff are easy reads that they just want your friends' numbers to sign them up. But, 9/10 times they just wish you a good workout and offer a towel. Smaller gym so peak hours can be tight fits but it's never stopped me from working out. -The new gym will be much larger on Walkley.
has all the amenities, good amount of squat racks. only negative is that the gym needs to be cleaned more often.
Great facility as it is large and new. Very busy at times, which can be expected. Love the option of the Women's only area, and the fact that you can walk straight in there from the change room!
My girlfriend and I love Karen. She's sure doesn't live up to her name, which is great.
Horrible experience ... I signed up for a "FREE 3-Day Trial" at Walkely location to go and there and get told that I cannot use the facility because I am registered for a 14 day pass (which I paid for) at ANOTHER location. The two offers are separate, one is paid for and the other is free.... It seemed to me that their associates (AKA the greedy sales people) "felt" that I wouldn't stick with their location and decided not to let me in unless I pay for one of their plans 1st ... Not to mention the rude pushy behaviour those sales people use while expecting you to join... what a joke. If you sign up for a 3-Day pass, keep in mind that they will keep calling you untill you join their gym. They will even tell you to join and cancel it if you didnt like it promising they will give your money back .. well .. read the review posted by Joshua Sabourin below....
The good ... Good equipment. Fresh air - no smell. Clean. Not busy on off peak times. Friendly staff. The bad.... ongoing semi-hard sell on selling us personal trainer hours and other services. Must pay extra for hit yoga. Overall expensive except when annual corporate membership. The ugly .... During peak times wait times for machines. Extremely frustrating watching people sitting on machines playing on phones ( between sets) - they could stand or sit elsewhere between sets!!! The staff should try to discourage the useless hogging of machines.
A very good team & service.
For a extremely well off company (aka worth 500 million in 2014...) they are seriously a bunch of scammers. I joined an account under my family member, and she decided to cancel her membership. In no way shape of form did they: - tell her that I had to cancel mine, and that money will still be taken out of her account for my membership - inform her OR MYSELF that my membership rate would go up (.. how am I supposed to know that she necessarily cancelled her membership. Shouldn't the FACILITY INFORM ME of higher fees?) - even give her the correct information about WHY she was being charged once she asked about these extra charges (are the staff really so poorly trained that they don't even know why their own company is continuing to take money out of accounts...?) And then when approached, both the GM of this location, AND the head office, proceed to argue, tell her she was in the wrong... even when they gave her literally no correct information, nor did they properly tell her about their ridiculous policies. This is a money scam. I do not recommend GoodLife in any shape or form. Not worth it. A horribly greedy business with zero customer service skills. Do better GoodLife.
Poor service, frustrating communication, and cancelling my gym membership with them was like pulling teeth. The only good thing I can say about the gym is that the equipment is very good.
Horrible stuff! They are a bunch of greedy salespeople who don't care about what you want. The club's group fitness classes are so crowded that there is no point in showing up at all. The equipment is VERY old and is always broken for months. No swimming pool, no WIFI, old equipment, crowded classes, dirty showers and a huge price for the membership. Really?
Nice new and spacious! It has a great atmosphere and there are a lot of machines to choose from. I'm not fond of how the rowing machines are right by the changerooms though. The women's gym is very small it reminds of being at curves and there's few machines in the room so I prefer just going to the co-ed part of the gym instead.
Worst customer service expierence here yesterday night regarding membership changes. The staff member helping me didn't seem to know much about the gym policies and should have gotten a manager for what seemed to be such a complex issue. Thank god I went to the carp road location the next day where I spoke with a manager there who went over and beyond to help me out and solve my issue. The gym its self has a good atmosphere and nice equipment, but as far as financial or membership changes request a manager asap or go to a different location.
horrible, I cancel my membership still they are talking the money from my account, I called the toll free no use, I am planing to file a case
Newest facility in Ottawa, but the staff with whom I signed my membership with, forget about my cup, my free personal trainer trail and my face in about a week! His name is Aria or something. If you want a membership in this Goodlife, better find someone else
Wow this is the best fit for less in the country. Three levels, Virtual room. Showers, tan beds , stand up a plus lay down. Awesome place. ????????????????
Manager is extremely rude, never sign up for a personal trainer. It's a money grab. One of the personal trainers there missed multiple sessions and I ended up paying for it.
This gym has everything you need: tons of free weights and benches, one power rack and 3 or 4 half rack, a track where you can push weights on a sled, millions of kettlebells, the usual cardio stuff and machines, as well as cycling and group rooms. There's also a hot yoga studio. I was very impressed by the modern setting, high ceilings, natural lights. This location replaces the Walkley one and it is a huge improvement. When I was there (Friday 4pm), it was very crowded though. Why 4 stars? The change room was dirty. Lots of towels on the floor. One guy decided to sit naked on the bench sans towel after going to the sauna. Yuk. Maybe that's more of a problem with the members who DGAF. The open space concept doesn't seem to work very well here. The showers were very clean though. Another reviewer mentioned that the shower doors are like 7 ft tall... Well, they are even higher than that! But the weird thing is the walls between the stalls are only about 6 ft tall. They should have made them higher, like at Movati.
I had a horrible first experience when inquiring about a membership but since then, I've had positive experiences. This was when GoodLife was at Walkley. The new building/facility on Heron is different. I've liked all the instructors (spinning, body pump, body combat). I'm not a big "class" person, so having good instructors makes a difference. The people working there seem happier, there are always towels ready and dry! (this wasn't always the case at Walkley). The facility is bright and clean, the women's section is tiny, minuscule; this is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. I was excited about the women's gym, but I'm hardly there because it's congested.
The staff were over aggressive to the point of harassment calling me twice to 3 times a day and they broke their own contract rules by contacting my emergency contact and all this was to say I had to give them my bank account information despite do a prepaid membership, so i canceled my membership and was told I'd receive a refund to what i prepaid but it takes them over a month to send out,now over month later still nothing feels like i am not getting my money back. There are better gyms out there stay away from this one if you are signing up
Brand new, all the services you can expect from a fully stocked gym. Hot Yoga, Virtual Spin Classes and more...
This gym is new and spacious. Brand new equipments with very good dry sauna. Their are lockers are not enough during the peak hours. It is a single floor gym which is good for people with disabilities
Making Exercise Simple by Lynn | Aug 13, 2012 1 2 3 4 5 As a busy woman with many demands on my time, regular exercise classes have not worked for me. My Goodlife Fitness Club is conveniently located, has accessible parking, is open 24/7 and provides a variety of programs which I can adapt to my needs. I can join an aerobics class, work out in the weight room, or sign up for a short term group or individual fitness program. Perfect. No hassle. A few months ago I developed an uncomfortable stretchy/grabby kind of pain in my side which kept me awake at night. Knowing that the process of referral to a doctor would be more frustrating than the discomfort of my injury, I spoke to the staff at Goodlife. An instructor with a degree in sports physiology was able to show me a few simple exercises which resolved the problem in a few days. Yeah Goodlife!!
Clean and spacious with a good selection of workout gear and machines. Guided classes are decent but nothing to write home about. The Woman's Only section is small and usually quite packed. This location has a sauna and a few massage chairs, but they don't have the water massage machines that the Goodlife at Lansdowne has. Staff at the front are generally very young and only half paying attention to customers.
Rude customer service, my boyfriend and his brother went in to get a tour of the place and he was extremely rude to them. After receiving this treatment, we have found another gym else where with much better customer service. Customer service rep had long hair and i believe his name was Al or Ali not sure but we are super disappointed as usually they are super friendly here.
Large open space with plenty of weights, bikes, and machines for your exercise needs. If you are a member there is a dry sauna, a standing or lying down tanning bed, and towel service. Many classes going on constantly like yoga and CrossFit. Trainers are friendly, but not as crazy to push you into paid training sessions as some gyms (that is a good thing). Still very helpful if have a question or need a spot. Plenty of lockers but you need your own lock if you enjoy keeping your things. 24 hours, can get pretty full during peek hours so go early or later in the night if you don't like waiting.
If I could give below 0 I would. I signed up for personal training with andrea LaPierre and Matt the manager guaranteed me that I will not have to pay the cancellation fee. Now I am stuck with about 1k having to pay for something i did not receive. 5 months trying to sort this out nicely and tons of people calling and showing them email proof and they still did not waive. I would not recommend at all
Like most people, I tried to go regularly but gave up. The gym itself is nice, it has all the equipment you need, but not enough of them. Whenever I wanted to do an exercise, somebody was using the machine. I asked about their private trainer program and it's really expensive.....
A representative at a @goodlifefitness location told me that my account would be suspended until I reinstated it, or until all Covid restrictions were lifted. The gyms are still at 50% capacity and @goodlifefitness took payments from my account without any notification. Head office refused to issue a refund, absolutely unacceptable.
Spacious and very clean gym. Lots of machines and lots of free weights. There’s a few studios including a hot yoga studio (extra charge). The only thing I would change is the size of their towels. They’re very small
Busy place.... only 2 water fountains and one was broken. Noisy in main area (there are cheap and easy fixes). Fix those issues and it would be great.
Great facility, all the equipment you need, and as it is new, seems to have excellent air quality and handeling even when busy :)
change room is filthy and not enough lockers, location of the gym is not in that great of an area, staff are good. the blue light infront of the weight section is weird and annoying. also cardio area is sub-par.
Horrible customer service. I canceled my membership, which was a family plan membership, with just about a months notice. The last day of my membership was the 31st of August. I later checked my banking transaction to see that they've taken 3 other payment out of my account in the month of September. When I emailed in to seek my money back as I had canceled my membership I was told that I only canceled my portion and that the other family member needed to have gone in to cancel hers; even though I was the payor and head person on the account. I was never made aware of this at any point in time, not once did someone explain to me there were condition to giving notice on my family membership. They took my money via a loop hole and dont plan on returning it. Terrible customer service. I will not be returning to or recommending Goodlife to anyone. Steer clear.
Absolutely awful, they use aggressive sales tactics to get you to buy a membership and play dumb when you try to cancel it. They also keep the details from you so you don't even know how much you're paying. Honestly just go to another gym.
The management and staff at this location has been nothing but neglecting and difficult. On a personal financial matter, the last few months, my brother and I have been contacting the gym manager repeatedly to help solve an on-going issue of ours. There has been absolutely zero respect and concern from the managers and staff in order to help us and respond to our calls and requests. I’d suggest for people to do their workout at different locations. Staff is unreliable. My recommendation is to sign up with a different gym facility. My experience with Goodlife has been nothing but a money scam. Also, try to refrain signing up on a personal training contract.
Probably the best GoodLife in Ottawa. Equipment all new, great location, lot of parking space. Personal trainers are great. This gym is massive so even at peak hours there's enough room for you to do your own things.
The customer service are good, the trainer too, machines are good, the only problem i see is the man washroom towels are all around the place on the floor, paper towels. Please that is not the way the respect other, because everyone pay monthly fees, doesn’t mean can throw staff everywhere making the washroom look bad. Thanks.
The gym is not too bad, the change rooms are somewhat filthy and not taken carafe. But my biggest issue was their customer service, it was the WORST! my mom was aggressively talked into signing up for a free-trial and when she tried to cancel it, she was ignored and was then charged for the ultimate membership. We went in to cancel it and they said it was her fault and that they would not give her, her money back. I myself signed up for the one location membership and was being charged for the ultimate as well, when I went in to change it I was again ignored and had to go in 4 times to talk to the guy who signed me up "Arian" and was treated like I had made the mistake and instead of trying to help me he just kept arguing with me and saying the reason why I was being charged too much was "too lengthy" to explain to me. This is crazy since it is MY MONEY and I am more than capable of understanding. This people will tell you ANYTHING to get you to sign up but once you have an issue or complain they IGNORE YOU. Honestly this gym is not worth your money, mainly for the customer service.
They charge me for extra month because the employee didn’t know how to stop my membership, not satisfied for paying for employee fault
Pretty good. There is a separate women's section. Their Cybex arc trainers have no fans. Makes me sad but this GL is a solid 4/5.
Men's change room is usually fairly filthy and poorly maintained. If you need to change your plan forget about actually getting one of those helpful and friendly smiling guys that sign you up. You get the run around and unless you put a lot of pressure they'll just ignore you.
Beautiful location with a great staff. Newly renovated, this is the only location in Ottawa with a free runner cardio machine. The gym is very spacious with great variety of work out equipment and I believe they have 4 squat racks, 6 if you include the personal trainers area too. The location also offers yoga which is awesome!
Alot Many options for gym equipments and machines. You can book you free classes that is included in membership. I am a kind of lazy for gym but this gym gives me positive vibes and I love going there due to ambience and motivation by seeing people around.
I have been training there for about six months. The gym is clean and the staff are super friendly and very helpful. I had no idea what I was doing when I first came to Good Life. Being a doctor, I am actually amazed at how much knowledge the personal trainers have on body and mind health. I have lost 30 pounds and my stamina and energy is incredible. I feel super alive. My personal trainer is excellent and I see a lot of very good trainers in this gym. Also the group sessions are super fun. Good life has really changed my life and I very highly recommend this location.
Esthetically, the nicest GoodLife in Ottawa, but staff is the worst. With the exception of few employees, most of the frontline employees look like they don't want to be there, with the worst attitude. Replacing them with a brick would be better for the business. Almost every GoodLife allows personal training area to be used on weekends as it's empty. This location only allows it to the employees. Nobody can walk around maskless, but the employees can. Talk about preferential treatment. Ultimately, management is to blame for allowing all of this to happen. The staff at this location gives GoodLife as a brand a bad reputation.
By far, the worst location in all.of ottawa. Very small and very dirty. Machines that break here take forever to be fixed. The atmosphere is horrible. Been to this gym with a couple of friends over 20 times here, everytime you come you just get an urge to fight with everyone here. Would rather drive to St. Laurent or to merivale if I need to go to a good life. probably never coming back here.
This is my overall experience with this goodlife fitness since it was opened. Staff was pretty nice I can say, towel always available if you need it, I barely use their towel tbh. Biggest goodlife gym in Ottawa I guess, a lot of equipment and space, and they did a pretty good job at keeping the gym clean. About personal training, well it is expensive, no matter what level of trainer. I have sign with a level 4 trainer for 6 month and get some incredible result regarding to muscle gain, if you looking for a PT here, sign with level 4 or 5, below that is just a waste of money and time. Remember to ask before sign, take your free trail to judge if the trainer is good or not, and say no if you don’t want the person or sign for such a long term contract, you always have the choice. Covid 19: Reason of 3 star for all goodlife associations. No membership fee reduction for canceling hot yoga, towel, sauna and shorter workout time. Staff not aware of wearing face mask, and causing several infection of covid 19 of associates (2 times since reopening).
Nice and large GoodLife. It has 3 squat racks + 2 lifting platforms (squat rack on a padded base) so good for deadlifts. The gym is clean and I usually don't wait for equipment (I go early around 6am). It has large windows and tall ceilings which makes it feel very open and spacious.
Love the staff and the place is always clean Very organized during pandemic
really nice gym - brand new equipment, really friendly staff, and good locker/shower/sauna rooms. the only reason not giving 5 stars is I do believe the equipment could be cleaned a bit more regularly, and sometimes the cardio machines are out of service for a week +, which can be inconvenient at really busy times. otherwise a great gym. super busy in the evenings though.
Clean location, but classes are hit or miss! Some instructors are amazing, so when you find the good ones, stick to their classes!
Open 24/7 with ample parking and chill staff. If sales tactics bother anyone, just say no and quit whining. It is their job i'm sure to offer a package. Get you information, and think for yourself. Being bothered by somebody offering you sessions or a membership means you have to work-out that backbone. Once you're past the membership, the gym has the essentials - cardio and weight machines, group class room, changerooms. A new location is being created. Hopefully the wifi will "work" in the new one. Trainers are knowledgeable and attentive. One of them, when off duty, seen flirting with a desk staff girl, who seemed like she had zero work to do. Ahaha
I've been coming to this gym regularly for the past 7 months. The gym itself is great and has everything you need to get a good workout in. The staff is what brings the score down. I've had a couple interactions with some rude trainers. Not very professional if you ask me
Mens locker needs way more lockers - 5pm is a disaster in there. Equipment and facilty is sta dard fare for a Goodlife. Its a little crowded for such a big gym but its functional. Staff is friendly. Only dropping a star for the lockers - honestly i fear for january.
Always very clean, lots of parking. I used to go to Lansdowne but this is much more accessible than parking underground.
Whenever I am at the gym there is no enforcement of mask wearing between exercises and there are some people who do not have a mask at all on the floor. Probably why another associate was Covid positive....
Anytime after 1pm the change rooms are absolutely filthy. There is garbage and towels everywhere, my highscool had cleaner change rooms. If I had a closer option with the same amenities I would get rid of my membership in a heart beat. Disgusting.
This is my favourite Goodlife in the city! (Yes, I've checked them all out). Staff is friendly, machines are well taken care of and I love the open concept layout. Will definitely be trying out hot yoga soon as well!
Nice fitness centre, could do a better job to keep washroom and change areas cleaner. Staff is courteous, and cooperative.
On the positive side the gym is not as busy as other locations . Cleanliness on the other hand is an issue they do not refill the shampoo on time . Machines don’t get cleaned as much as they should .
