Reasons: Poor Customer Service. Ended up going in this morning to workout before my work day which I usually do. I start of by buying a day pass since i have different gyms I usually go for different workout routines. Today I ended up going into buy a 1 day pass Christina the manager who was talking with someone about some sort of group-on whatever it may have been camp etc..was clearly busy so i waited. Took about 5 minutes until she had finally said that it's gonna be a while guys as if i was suppose to wait even longer without any help. I was not okay with waiting any longer already at the 5 minute mark with no help. There were 3 more employees around her(apparently Camp counsellors all in ymca uniform) who were noticing me and another man just waiting in line and standing. So I said listen you have 3 workers right there and no one can help me? She pointed out that she was the only one working at that desk and they were just counsellors and couldn't help me so i was basically stuck with waiting in her mind. Until I got a little irritated because of me having to wait now more then 10 minutes to even get into the establishment then finally she figured out that she could bring the debit machine over to the other desk and then instead of telling me sorry instead fought me as a customer. Telling me that is was my problem that she didn't have enough staff to suffice more than one customer at a time. Then I finally start to pay and a girl named Crystal then starts to tell me the same thing that i'm wrong and that they are understaffed still making me feel like that's my problem. The best part is she said they were short staffed because 3 people had quit(which clearly we can tell why now) To me if this is a problem then guess what you go find people to hire that is what managing is consisted of making sure you have enough people and customer service to help the influx of people or product needed to suffice if you cant do that then clearly you should not be managing.. Again I just laughed and figured this makes a lot more sense on why they probably quit. Management clearly has no idea what they are doing and the customer service that I was given was very poor. Apparently Christina this manager owns 3 business's i'm guessing that they wont be lasting much longer with the way I was treated. She was literally fighting me across the whole entire establishments front area and then afterwards try's to be polite like nothing had happened(probably because she knew she was in the wrong). Never had this happen to me before there but this just took the cake especially after a few weeks prior being there my shoes were stolen from my locker and no one to help at all at front desk because clearly no one cares enough about the customers. Thank god the shoes were cheap ones too. Complete Morons I don't recommend this place at all for monthly services.

Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great place for adults and so much for kids of all ages to do safely. Amazing saff that have great teaining as well as CPR-C (children) as a requirement of all employment here. Daycare facilities on site, too many summer camps for kids to mention as well as camps for other school. holidays. Too many programs to mention for kids of all ages. One of the best beaing their Leader Corp Program. I highly recommend it for kids, the learn many core values, responsibilities and leadership skills all while having fun with new friends. Very valuable program.

Love this spot. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Very attentive. Place is huge and has pretty much everything. I love that they do membership assistance here. If you’ve never heard of it, you bring in your notice of assessment for the previous tax year and they’ll knock a percentage off of the membership price based on that information. Think a regular membership is $56. I got a 50% deduction with membership assistance and only pay $23 per month, which is fantastic seeing as it’s the best gym in St. Catharines. Like I’m getting so much for pretty cheap and that’s pretty dope. Highly recommend.

This gym is expensive and there's not much free range to do what you want, but you'd be hard pressed to find another place with as much variety in activities. Personally, I've been going for yoga and squash, which are hard to find offered at the same facility, so that's a blessing for me. My only issue is they don't have the yoga in a quiet room or even try to separate it. We do it in the middle of the running track surrounding by work out machines that usually get left out and the staff will yell at you for touching them. In fact, last night when I tried to fold a machine up one of the staff, who was giving a tour of the facilities, nearly bit my head off in front of the potentially new clients. She then went on to sarcastically apologize to them about how she had to pause the tour to put away the machines. The staff rarely have a crummy attitude and luckily I've never had to deal with this employee before, but I hope I don't run into her or her negativity again. Also, what kind of gym doesn't let you touch the equipment?

The staff is super nice and friendly, but I'm really unimpressed with the membership overall. The only reason I'm still at the YMCA is because it's a 5 minute walk from my house. The membership is extremely expensive (over $60/mo for a basic membership). Maybe it would be worth it if you're into the classes, but if weight lifting/strength training is your main goal, I'd say this is a rip off. The equipment is limited (only one hip abduction machine, really?) and the pre-weight barbells are atrocious. The weight room is extremely small as well. It's to the point where I cant walk in with a routine in mind because I have to improvise based on what is available. And again, the pre-weighted bars are awful. I have a hard time with the rack, so I rely on pre-weighted for my squats, deads, and lunges, but these bars are soooo long and clunky, i barely have enough room to safely get a full range of motion. Another thing that really rubs me the wrong way is that you can't use a locker overnight. At smaller, cheaper gyms, I understood this policy, but the locker room is HUGE and I'm paying a premium price. I cant even get my money's worth with the pool because they have a giant window to the pool right when you walk in so there's no privacy. Not to mention, you have to pay for towel service every time. At $60/month I find that pretty offensive. Plus the showers are a thing of nightmares. I'm going to have a heartattack one day from getting blasted with the ice cold water. I think the Y would be a way better value if you could opt out of classes and activities (I dont have kids) and pay a more reasonable price. I'll be switching gyms ASAP. Fit4Less and similar are a way better value imo

my kids Love going here with his friends to play basketball but sadly colleen{staff} doesn't. My son and his friends come home and complain about her almost every week!!! She kicked out one of his friends for getting chased in the GYM!! She told him he has to make appointment with that manager and he asked for an appointment and she screamed at him and said get out!! Seriously!!!!! I have been going to the gym myself for a couple of years now and i haven't experienced this from any other worker. she also kicked out another one of his friends for speaking another language and took offence to this. They go every saturday and that is the high point of their week, but due to colleen they don't enjoy it as much as they used to. On behalf of all my sons parents, if you could talk to her it would be much appreciated!! But this is a great facility, would recommend to make this your gym. Thanks

This facility has a great gym with working machines and pool, but I’m shocked that I’m paying $60 a month at least for my membership and I can’t even bring a guest without being charged. I feel that on my journey to become stronger, mentally and physically, that I should be allowed to bring someone for emotional support. This is not easy, and not a lot of people, such as yours truly, cannot pay for all these this by ourselves. They charge you for towels too, which should be provided freely by this ymca. The staff’s attitude Varys between the members, but the later I come the more agitated they seem when I ask them questions. I’m always being questioned, as I should not be for I have not acted suspicious or anything of the sort.

Place is fabulous! On ODSP and they have a system to help folks like myself. The place is cleaner than any gym I have ever seen. The pool is lovely. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This is my escape from the stress of a modern world. Reccomend over any other gym!

The YMCA...has been around forever and I enjoy the fact that it's so community based. Both my children have been in a multitude of programs throughout the years. Some better than others...they make a real effort to ensure every child's safety while on property or on field trips away from the building. The schedule however for the weekly programs are sometimes misleading. They will have one thing laid out on the schedule and yet is not happening when you arrive. It's been an ongoing issue for the past several months with my youngest child attending virtually daily for programs offered with membership. Overall, I am pleased to have one within my community.

Love living near here. Such a valuable thing for the community. They have a free early years centre in the building through the Ontario government and public health holds free “well baby” check ups here every Wednesday. If you pay for a membership, add on Swimming lessons, kids programs galore, fitness for adults...the list goes on. Haven’t had a problem yet and we visit 4+ times/week

This YMCA has a very classic feel to it. The staff are all very knowledgeable, yet old fashioned. Fitness staff vary from well trained with a variety of workouts to those who continually teach the same class each week. Membership staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Capable of helping you find exactly what you need. A beautiful facility is hindered by the poor lighting on the second floor, in tandem with the out of date weight sets, it can feel like you're working out in a prison yard. Other than that, machines are well maintained, building is cleaned and always stocked.

As a Trans person, I've had a lot of horrible experiences at gyms. I've been physical assaulted, harassed, asked to leave, etc. I tried 4 different gyms, and it was all the same behaviours. So I stopped going to gyms for about a year. Which sucked, because I love working out. However, when I went to the Walker YMCA to sign up, I met two awesome people. They made me feel welcomed, didn't assume my pronouns (and didn't mis-gender me once they knew!), they empathized with my past experiences, and assured me that my existence at this gym was valid and would be protected. It was honestly very emotional for me to hear this. Also, on the sign up forms, you can choose Me, Female or Other, which is pretty awesome! Thanks for making me feel safe!

I use the pool because I am disabled and cannot exercise outside of such and the pool staff are great, especially that one young boy he works very hard and is very diligent.

The pools here are nice and spacious. The locker rooms are plentiful. The showers however do not warm up immediately like the ones in Toronto, and the sauna room requires a plus membership. The fees are also higher due to the lower population density of St. Catharines. Granted, the facilities are nice to use and include multiple gyms, equipment and dumbells.

I went to YMCA St. Catharines two years ago and paid 1/2 price for membership ($33.00) after I brought in my financial statements. I can see the price of a member ship going up but now add $100.00 building fee. I have a friend visiting Canada for 3 months and wants to join the Y for 2 months. That $141.00 member ship fee plus the newly added on $100.00 building fee. $241.00 for 2 months?? Really? We will now go elsewhere rather to this cash grab (non profit) organization gym. I used to recommend the Y to many and tell my mental health councilors how great the Y is but will no longer do that.

A bit expensive if you go for the Plus membership, which I had to do in order to be able to use the whirlpool and sauna. The towels are small, rough, and not very absorbent. It's not great, but better than having to bring a towel from home.
