My choice to move to Nanaimo was because of the swim centre.Fantastic place to hang out and play. Young or old have fun here.Three tier slides that will take your breath away and keep your kid coming back for more.Maybe even the big kid in dad.A co'ed fitness room. Well laid out with natural lighting on two sides.A wave pool that has huge waves with a slope from your ankles to your to your nose.Kids are allowed to have more fun than adults. Play safe.

Love this place! Always fun for my grandson and me. Everything all the time in this large facility. 3 waterslides...wave pool...lazy river...water park.....lanes....free play area....lounges...huge hot tub...sauna....cafe...gym..amazing! This facility is attached to a high school. I wish I had gone to that school!

(Translated) There is a large swimmer pool. A "fun pool" with wave pool, flow channel and children's play area. A hot tap as well as a steam bath and a sauna. 3 different slides. It was clean and the shower area seems to have been renewed. The rest a bit older but perfectly fine. Entry with a locker was $ 7.25. (Original) Es gibt ein großes Schwimmerbecken. Ein "Spaßbecken" mit Wellenbad, Strömungskanal und Kinderspielbereich. Einen Hottap sowie ein Dampfbad und eine Sauna. 3 verschiedene Rutschen. Es war sauber und der Duschbereich scheint erneuert worden zu sein. Der Rest etwas älter aber vollkommen okay. Eintritt mit Schließfach lag bei 7,25$.

We had so much fun! Water slides and diving board for a variety of ages and skill levels. My daughter tried the high board for the first time and was super stoked! The guards here are quick to act and seem well trained. Also, this is the best poutine I've ever had. The gravy was out of this world! Seriously, I will always buy poutine from here when I visit. We love the layout and that I can sit in the cafe while she plays. The price cannot be beat!

This pool is very nice. There is a large kids area, a large hot tub, multiple lanes to swim in and three water slides. We went on Friday and Saturday last week and everything was okay. My main issues were how poorly cleaned the showers and change rooms were. There was hair all over the place, and there was a lot of random garbage on the floor as well. The staff including the life guards and receptionists were rude and cold.

We always enjoy our family swim. Things are a bit different right now due to covid. Some of the fun is not there. The waves, and the kids play area are all turned off which makes it a little bit less fun for the kiddos. But it's still nice to get out and enjoy sometime in the pool. It'll be so great when things get back to normal.

This is called aquatic Center but it has got a gym too. it has got 3 different sections of swimming pools. There are different timings for different ages. There are some timings when you pay less. It has got a cafeteria as well. It has got water slides. I requested the authority over there once to see the feasibility of putting some blood pressure measuring machines over there just as we have in some stores however I don't think they have done anything in this regard.

This is a great pool! Change rooms for men, women, and families. The men's change room is always clean and the showers are hot and stay on long enough. The lap pool is pretty cold but not too cold, and there is always plenty of room to swim. The hot tub is big and deep. There's a steam room and sauna, a wave pool, and three slides.

Took 3 attempts to find a locker with a functioning lock. Was not impressed having to change lanes midway through my lane swim workout. Was in the designated lane. Kids enjoyed the mini - lazy river. Not impressed also that they changed the hours for the slides. Not open until 3pm. Missed out on that. We did call ahead of time and no one mentioned it. The question was asked.

Good facilities, majority of staff are kind. However 1 particular front desk staff is very angry and hate filled. Refusing to listen to her customers, instead opting to wave my angrily out of the building. I'm a member at this facility and have been for a long time but I believe its time to move facilities. For new patrons, its mostly good but be warned this is a possibility.

Fun and safe for all ages. Pools are nice and spacious, hot tub is fantastic! Steam room and sauna are awesome and not super busy. Gym is really nice. Lots of machines, I don't ever have to wait for a machine. Attended during the day, and he's knowledgeable and easy going. This is my gym and pool of choice!

Diving boards. I understand that other people rent the pool for swimming lessons and what not. However, rather then rent out a couple of the lap lanes, they shut down the diving boards. 6 people using three lanes (one lane was rented out). When they opened the low board, there was a surge of 3 people, followed very quickly by a large group. The low board stayed busy until they closed it and lessons continued. The lap pool never seeing more then 8 people. The steam room is fantastic.

I have been here several evenings and found that the unnecessarily loud distorted music bounces off the walls and was headache inducing; (I generally enjoy listening to music at elevated levels). Other patrons consisted of primarily young families; i.e., it remains unclear as to what audience they are targeting with this racket. I will avoid returning.

Fantastic pool in Nanaimo! There's a huge wave pool and accompanying whirlpool, a huge play structure for kids, waterslides, diving boards, length pools, and more. In addition, there's a large hot tub, sauna, and steam room. In the same building there's a giant exercise room. I would say the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre is the best spot to go swimming in Nanaimo. For sure recommend!

Great length pool. Seems to be there is always at least a 25 meter length swim and sometimes 50 meters. Length pool is also the correct temperature for length swim and not too warm. Nice showers and change rooms.

NAC is a great facility. $3.75 For 12 and under to swim. $5.75 For older. $0.25 For a locker token. The gym is really decent too. My daughter loves the wave pool. Great place for kids swimming lesson. Lots of parking space. You need to show them your vaccine passport and ID to watch at the bench. I fill up my daughter's Active Pass form to get a card. Thankfully, I got it here while my son is having his lessons. Too bad my daughter was waitlist and unfortunately did not get in for her Swim 7 lesson. Prince George's Aquatic Center is much bigger than here though.

The staff was quite friendly with me, the one pool was cold when we got there. The hot tub was good, but crowded. Sauna was great, steam room was uncomfortable. The wave pool was large and well kept. The slides were fun, but a little on the rough side at some of the joints. All-in-all, a great place to take the kids or family.

My son and I love to come here together. I always call in advance to see if the dive tank is open. the information is always correct. Like many 5 yr Olds from the neighborhood my son usually knows someone or quickly makes new friends. This is a great aquatic centre with 3 waterslides, sauna, steam room, big hot pool, excellent training pool and a fitness centre. It's able to cater to special needs and families. The decor is piratical fitting with the pirate and nautical themes present throughout Nanaimo. Nanaimo has one smaller aquatic centre at. Beban Park, as well.

My kids and I were very excited to try the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre out, as we just moved here from Alberta. The water slides looked so fun so we went. The pool area itself was well maintained and fairly clean. The slides are awesome! However, be very cautious in the change rooms! The filthiest floors I have ever seen in a public swimming facility. Full of mud and hair-gross! My daughter found band aids floating in the water fountain too. Really disappointing. Wrote a comment card about the lack of cleanliness. Waiting to see if I get a reply.

The service and place are wonderful, I really enjoy the gym and the swimming pools. A couple of warnings however: 1- sometimes kids will be playing inside the sauna, steam room, or hot tub. 2- most the people at the front disk are wonderful and ready to help, except for one blond lady she was very unfriendly. I had the feeling that she was doing me a favour by letting me in, even tho I paid about 50/month to use the facility. Other than that, it is honestly a very enjoyable facility.

i was disappointed the last two times i have gone to the nanaimo aquatic center. i saw 3 guys wearing their underwear instead of proper swimsuits. then the last time i went the hot tub was filled with floating matter. there were black and browns things floating in the water and there weren't 1 or 2 it was filled and it was disgusting to see

The best place to swim in Nanaimo. 3 water slides, hot tub, sauna, steam room, lazy river, diving boards and a wave pool. There is also a weight room here. The worst part about the Nanaimo Aquatic Center is trying to find the schedule through the website. It should be as easy as a direct link from a google search, but it isn't.

I'm sure the lifeguards would think it was a really great job if there was no customer's. They don't seem to realize that they are staff. And that people who come to the aquatic center are tax payers/customer's. Lifeguards here need to be reminded who pays them and keeps them employed.

My wife and I took our 2 kids here recently, it was our first time visting and we will be back, the wave pool was great, my 1 1/2 year old loved being in the river they had, was larger than expected and very busy but not crowded. We will be back, very happy they sell water proof diapers at reception as-well, lockers were large enough to fit 3 bags of clothes/towels we brought.

Very nice facility but the pool is FREEZING cold and the "hot" tub only luke warm. You have to shower before entering the pool but the change rooms are 400 kilometers from the pool. Not worth the $7 drop in fee.

Now required to wear masks in the shower and when on the pool deck (i.e. moving between pools). Used masks are everywhere, and when people retrieve their masks from the few dry spaces available (draped on chairs, eye glasses holders, etc) no cleaning is done before the next unknowing person puts their used mask down. Gross! When I expressed my concern, the union worker encouraged me to try coming back in a few months if I had issue with the current process.

I've been going here for about a month and all was fine but recently they've installed an anti loitering device that produces an intolerable, high pitched noise. Very unfortunate since this is really the only place that has a sauna AND a gym. After my membership ends I will not be returning. I truly wish they would reconsider using such an unethical device especially since many young children attend this facility.

Gym was super crowded with rude old people and that place is way too small and needs more and better equipment! It was really hard to follow any routine you may have as nobody cared about sharing the equipment or cleaned it after use. Really frustrating to go there on a monday morning and not being able to do your workout in a time frame.

Instead of Nanaimo Aquatic Center (aka NAC) it should be Aquatic Playland. There are two water slides, children's play areas, sauna, steam, lap lanes, swim lessons, exercise lessons, professional swim clocks/timers and of course lockers, change area and showers. There is also probably more I don't know about. There is a locker fee of $0.25 on top of admission.

The facilities are wonderful, the wave pool is warm and a lot of fun. Only complaint is that when I mislaid my watch there, and phoned to ask if it had been found/turned in, staff was not allowed to say if they had it or not. While I understand their reluctance, surely the fact that I could describe it in great detail, when it was lost and where it would have been found should have permitted them to say if it had been recovered. But they couldn't, so now it requires a long distance drive back to the pool on the off-chance it might be there.

The facility opened today (September 10, 2020) on a pre-book- your-time basis due to COVID protocols. What we didn't know was that we would be held captive for an hour, waiting on the pool deck until our "leaving time" which is 1 hour after the start time. That's a lot to ask of people who can only swim for a short time. Let's hope this can be changed soon.

One best place for swimming in standard sized pool.It has facilities for learners to regulars.Water temperature is well managed.Alert team of life guards keep watch and assists usage of extensive equipment available for all age groups and needs of learners. Well maintained lockers are available.Needs of showers before and after swim is adequate.An unending supply of consumables like soaps,toilet rolls is also made. Facility fully meets the needs of challenged(handicapped) people who can visit independately. A Gym and Physiotherapy Centre also operates from its premises.In-house Cafeteria available. Many vending machines keep providing popular snacking items and Drinks even when cafeteria closed for the day.

First off I have witnessed the staff in action more then once and they always do an excellent job! Second of all my son did swim lessons and it was a great experience! I would say that cleanliness tho is not all that... but that may just be my opinion! However children love this place its family friendly and there is lots too do. 3 Water slides , wavepool, lazy river , lots of water toys , hot tub , 3 diving bored. Big deep pool , sauna , steam room and gym!

Gym is adequate. And i would only use if i have low income passes. But to buy a pass its not worth it. Very expensive for monthly passes, only open until 9 or 10pm, and the gym is very small so it fills up and you are stuck waiting for machines. There are other gyms in the area that are cheaper, open 24 hours and bigger with more equipment.
